Upgrade CS5.5 Design Premium with CS5.5 Production Premium

I would like to upgrade my current CS5.5 Design Premium with CS5.5 Production Premium; but, have been told, in so doing, I would lost access to InDesign. Is that accurate? I would think it is a matter of doing a selective install to not overwrite the overlapped programs, but I want to be sure before making the purchase.
Thanks!

It's because of the Security options.
Go to System Preferences... > Security & Privacy and there should be a button saying Open Anyway, under the General tab.
You can avoid doing this by changing the options under Allow apps downloaded from:, however I would recommend keeping it at the default Mac App Store and identified developers.

You cannot. There is no upgrade path from CS3 to CS6 any more. That window closed a couple of years ago.
    Your options now:
Buy a full new version of CS6, or

  • Want to upgrade from CS3 [Design Premium] to CS5

    Hi,
Want to upgrade from Design Premium CS3 to CS5 and saw there's a difference in price from upgrading from CS4 & CS3. Dumb question: If I bought the CS5 upgrade, would I be able to install the suite or would it ask for the previous CS4 version? If it only asks for CS3 I would really save some $$$$$$.
    Can you help,
    Ellen

What do you mean, there is a difference between upgrading from CS3 and CS4? An upgrade is an upgrade, there is only one price for an upgrade.
In CS4 (and CS5) Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing for suites only.
    http://www.adobe.us/products/photoshop/photoshop/faq/
What is Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy?
Adobe's tiered upgrade pricing policy offers customers who upgrade at every release a lower upgrade price relative to customers who upgrade less frequently. This means that customers upgrading to Creative Suite 5 from Creative Suite 4 will pay a lower upgrade price compared to customers upgrading from an earlier version of Creative Suite.
Why does Adobe offer tiered upgrade pricing?
Customers who upgrade regularly have long requested better pricing compared to those who upgrade infrequently. Adobe introduced tiered upgrade pricing in 2008, with the launch of Creative Suite 4, to reward these customers.
Does tiered pricing also apply to individual Creative Suite components?
No. The tiered upgrade policy applies only to editions of Adobe Creative Suite and not to upgrades to individual components, such as After Effects, Flash Professional, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and so on. Customers can upgrade to the CS5 version of individual CS components from up to three versions back. The only exception is Adobe Premiere Pro; customers can upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 from any earlier version of Adobe Premiere.

  • Upgrading Indesign from 'Design Premium' CS3 to CS5 - compatibility

I work in-house in marketing; we're looking at upgrading two of our Adobe Design Premium CS3 suites to the CS5 version. We have four or five CS3 suite licenses but can only afford to upgrade two of them at present.
My question is about the InDesign element - do we need to have the CS4 version in order to be able to effectively save down to a version that can be used between InDesign CS3 and CS5?
I'm worried about compatibility internally and externally - we use a lot of freelance designers who mostly use CS5 - this is already causing issues as we cannot open the files they send.
Any tips/hints you can give would be gratefully received!

The ONLY way to get a file from CS5 to open in CS3 is to export from CS5 to.idml, open that in CS4, export from there to .inx, and open that in CS3. Ther esults won't look a whole lot like the original CS5 file, especially if any features were added in CS4 or CS5 have been used, and there may be noticable changes in text flow due to text engine differences between versions.
Working in collaboration across different versions is a lousy workflow.

  • Upgrade indesign from design premium suite to CS5.5 then to CS6

Hi, I have indesign cs5 as part of the design premium suite. The other in my office have cs3 and purchasing new copies of cs6. can i upgrade to cs6 without paying the £700 price tag? can I upgrade to cs5.5 for free and then pay for upgrade to cs6?

DHAArchitecture the complimentary period for upgrades from CS5 to CS5.5 expired some time ago.  I am sorry but you will either want to look at upgrading to CS6 or consider a Creative Cloud membership.  Creative Cloud Membership does also include CS6.
You can find out more information about the Creative Cloud at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html?promoid=JQPEQ.
Also if you wish to purchase an upgrade for CS6 please see http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html?start=10.

  • Can I upgrade to CS6 Design Premium if I own CS5.5 Design Standard?

    I own CS5.5 Design Standard + Flash CS5.5 + Dreamweaver CS5.
I'd like to just buy one upgrade to CS6 for all... that would be the Design Premium.
    Can I do that?
    Thanks,

  • Upgrading Flash in Design Premium

I have Adobe Design Premium CS3, and I recently decided to upgrade to Flash CS5.5.  Everything was fine until it prompted me for the serial number for my previous version of Flash- and of course, all I have is the serial number for the Design Premium as a whole, not for each individual program.  I tried plugging that in and no luck.
My hard drive did crash almost a year ago and I had to reinstall all my software.  I can't think why that would interfere with this upgrade.
The only other thing I can think of is that I bought the CS3 as a student.  Does Adobe not offer upgrades for student editions?  If not, why?
Is it not possible to upgrade just one program in the Design Premium?  If not, why?

Is it not possible to upgrade just one program in the Design Premium?  If not, why?
Exactly that. Suites can only be upgraded to newer versions of suites. It has been forever this way and is more than clearly spelled out on the buying guide:
You cannot upgrade from products within a suite edition to individual products. To get the latest version of an individual product, you must purchase the full product.
Anyway, you need to contact sales support to sort that out.

  • Upgrade CS 3 Design Premium to CS 5 Design Standard

    Hi,
I have 2 CS packages. CS 3 design standard and CS3 design premium.
I wish to upgrade to CS 5. However I learned that I have enough with the 'standard' package because I only use Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator en Acrobat.
Is it possible to upgrade my CS3 designpremium package with a design standard CS5 package?
Langue of the CS I use is English.

  • Upgrading from CS3 Design Premium to Illustrator CS6 standalone

    Greetings,
I have Adobe CS3 Design Premium (I think-- it's one of the complete suites that includes Illustrator CS3). My license is an Education license. I also own Photoshop CS6 (standalone) with an Education license.
I'm wondering if i can purchase an upgrade to the standalone (not Creative Cloud) version of Illustrator CS6, at the Education price? If so what would the price be and how would I purchase it?
    Thanks.

    NorthOEK,
I am afraid the educational license of any kind is (still) outside any upgrade system.
You may try your luck on the download pages, or ask somewhere over there:

You don't. You missed your deadlines. You can only buy a fresh CS6 license.

  • Can I upgrade from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design Standard?

I'm looking to upgrade my CS3 (and may need to as I'm upgrading my Mac OS X and not sure about compatibilty)... of course I know I can upgrade like for like, i.e. go from CS3 Design Premium to CS6 Design and Web Premium but I don't really need Dreamweaver and Flash so just wondering if I can upgrade to CS6 Design Standard?
Also, as I'm still relatively new to this arena and have never upgraded before... how does it work? Do I need to keep my CS3 software (i.e. disks) as well as the new software/disks? i.e. if for whatever reason I may need to re-install down the line...or can I get rid of the CS3 once I get the CS6?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that. But you only have a few more weeks. You may want to look into Creative Cloud instead. You'll need the CS3 serial number to upgrade to CS6 but the CS3 apps do not necessarily need to be installed.

  • Is it possible to upgrade from CS6 Design Premium to CS6 Master Collection with education pricing?

If not, is CS6 Production Premium still available with student discount in the UK?

There are no sidegrades from one suite to another suite and generally edu versions cannot be upgraded otehr than to the commercial one. Short of getting Creative Cloud for edu, I see no way of resolving your dilemma, but feel free to call S&T support.

  • Upgrade from CS3 Design Premium to CS3.3

I downloaded the upgrade file and ran it, which de-installed Acrobat Pro 8 and installed Acrobat Pro 9. This went off without a hitch, so that's good. Is that it for the upgrade? I remember there being much more to do with the CS2.3 upgrade.

I don't understand why is it so difficult for some to find out what CS3.3 includes. When you click on the link to it from the main page you get an Adobe Store page which clearly states:
    "Combines Adobe InDesign® CS3, Photoshop® CS3 Extended, Illustrator® CS3, Flash® CS3 Professional, Dreamweaver® CS3, and new Acrobat 9 Pro, and also includes Adobe Bridge CS3, Version Cue® CS3, Device Central CS3, and now Fireworks CS3."
So what's the problem? All this information is very easily accesible and very clear.

  • Upgrading from CS2 design premium to CS3 design premium

Can I just buy the upgrade? The phone customer service person said I could, but CS3 has programs CS2 doesn't (i.e. Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks). Does anyone have some insight on this?

Should make no difference. CS3 upgrade will give you Dreamweaver, Flash and now Fireworks. The upgrade is the same as the full version except for one imprtant detail: you'll need the Install disk and serial number from CS2.

  • Upgrade CS4 design premium to CS5.5 standard, what happens with my web apps?

    Hi,
I'm planning to upgrade my CS4 design premium to CS5.5 design standard, but I still like to use Dreamweaver from the CS4. Does anyone know if this is possible. I've chatted with an Adobe sales employe who said I can only upgrade to CS5.5 design premium in order to keep using dreamweaver but I read that other people are using different versions of CS simultanously on 1 computer. Any thoughts?
    Thanks alot!

I respectfully disagree. The license includes a stipulation that you can continue to use the earlier version during a transition period. There is no set time limit there. I have CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS5.5 installed.
