  • Upgrade discoverer 10.1.2.0 to 10.1.2.2 with patch p4960210_10122 error

    I want to upgrade discoverer from 10.1.2.0 to 10.1.2.2 with the patch p4960210_10122_WINNT. But aftering patching, the discoverer plus can't
    work, and it reports 'lost connection the discoverer', and can't open the
    worksheet.
    The OS is windows 2003 server.

    Hello Xiao,
    I guess that the new applet does not get downloaded automatically.
    Force downloading the new applet by clearing the JVM cache:
    On the client PC navigate to Start >> Control Panel >> 'Java' or 'JInitiator 1.x.x.x' icon
    (this depends on which JVM is being used with Discoverer Plus)
    - In the 'Java' Control Panel go to General tab >> Delete Files.. >> Check 'Downloaded Applets' at a minimum or select all.
    - In the 'JInitiator Control Panel, go to 'Cache' tab and click 'Clear JAR Cache'.
    Then restart the browser and try connecting to Discoverer Plus again.
    Hope this helps,

  • Upgrading Discoverer from 4.1.48,06, should it be 10.1.2?

    Hi There,
    i'me currently looking into the prospect of upgrading our Discoverer, hopefully to 10.1.2, therefore i have a few questions that i would be grateful if someone could help me with.
    We are currently running on Application Version 11.5.7, although we have applied Family packs HR FP K and FIN FP G, we are running on a database of version 9.2.0.4.0
    We currently user Desktop, Viewer and the Web-based version of Discoverer.
    1) What benefits to the user community are there in upgrading to this version?
    2) Anybody any idea what documents i can look at that will tell me if the database version etc is compatable with Discoverer 10.1.2.
    3) Should i be upgrading to a different version?
    4) What direction is oracle going, i have read their going to make everything Java-based, is this still the case?
    5) Are oracle going to continue their support of desktop? If not, when does it become desupported? I have had conflicting answers to this, so a difinately YES/NO would be great.
    Kind Regards
    Ross

    To reiterate Steve's point on support for Discoverer Desktop, the single word answer is YES - Desktop is supported and shall continue to be supported in the future.
    Also, there is one additional feature in Desktop that we do not yet have in Plus: 'Import SQL'. Ok, two more, if you also count 'Images in Titles'.

    Hi Padmanabh
    How are you doing the upgrade?
    Personally, because you have to use a new weblogic server anyway I would install a clean 11g and then re-apply any preferences. With that done I would export the entire EUL from 10g and import it into the clean 11g. You'll be up and running in no time at all.
    There is no need to upgrade the EUL as it is the same in both 10g R2 and 11g.

    Hi all,
    We are currently using Discoverer 10.1.2.1 and Oracle Applications 11.5.10. and looking to upgrade Discoverer to 10.1.3.4.
    What are the functional features/benefits, differences between these 2 versions of Discoverer?
    I have searched around for this information but without much success.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi john,
    You can upgrade to Discoverer 10.1.2.3 and there is a patch for it....Now you can get that patch and this is the latest patch for 10g instance.Here is the link

  • Poor performance on Discoverer after upgrade to 11g database

    Hello,
    We have two customers who have experienced a sharp decline in the time it takes to run their queries when they have upgraded to an 11g database.
    One was a full Disco upgrade from 4 to 10 plus the database upgrade.
    The other was purely a database upgrade - Discoverer version was already 10g.
    They were both on 9i database.
    They are both Oracle Apps - and the reports are based on a mixture of everything from standard tables to custom tables - there is no pattern (or one that we have seen) in the poorly performing reports.
    I have not seen much on metalink regarding this - has anyone else come across why this would be?
    It does seem to be only Discoverer - standard reports and the app are performing as expected.
    Any advice welcome,
    Thanks
    Rachael

    Hi Rachael
    There are additional database privileges needed for running in 10g and 11g databases that weren't needed in 9i. Here's the typical privileges that I use:
    accept username prompt'Enter Username: '
    accept pword prompt'Enter Password: '
    create user &username identified by &pword;
    grant connect, resource to &username;
    grant analyze any to &username;
    grant create procedure, create sequence to &username;
    grant create session, create table, create view to &username;
    grant execute any procedure to &username;
    grant global query rewrite to &username;
    grant create any materialized view to &username;
    grant drop any materialized view to &username;
    grant alter any materialized view to &username;
    grant select any table, unlimited tablespace to &username;
    grant execute on sys.dbms_job to &username;
    grant select on sys.v_$parameter to &username;
    I appreciate that all of the above are not needed for all users and some are only needed if the user is going to be scheduling.
    However, I do know that sys.v_$parameter was not needed in 9i. Can you check whether you have this assigned?
    I know this might sound silly too, but you need to refresh your database statistics in order for Discoverer to work well. You might also want to try turning off the query predictor if it is still enabled.
    Best wishes

  • Upgrade to Discoverer 10.1.2

    We've been running Discoverer Admin/Desktop 9.0.2 and Discoverer Viewer 9.0.4 for 4 years with few problems. We also run Portal 9.0.4.
    We don't use Plus very much and we don't use Discoverer Portlet Provider, although we might experiment with the Portlet Provider when we get to 10.1.2.
    We're thinking of upgrading Discoverer to 10.1.2.0.2, which might also be 10.2.2.1. Oracle's versioning is confusing to me. In the end, I think that Discoverer gets
    to 10.1.2.48.18.
    Has Discoverer 10.1.2.48.18 been a stable version for anyone who stopped there and didn't apply the patchsets that take Discoverer (and Application Server) to
    10.1.2.2 or to 10.1.2.3?
    --- Steve

    Hi Steve,
    At this point in time, 10.1.2.3 has been out for a while + Oracle has released three Discoverer cumulative patches on top of that so I guess I wouldn't consider it "the leading edge". Discoverer 10g is fairly mature now, so maybe I would consider it the most stable (not perfect, but most stable) (if that is what you are looking for)
    In the 10.1.2.1 (10.1.2.48.18) time frame, Oracle would release one-off patches and then if you ran into an issue they would "merge" several one-off patches. That is what patch 5381031 is, it is the merging of several one-off patches and it did correct quite a few nasty issues that are listed in doc 367389.1
    After 10.1.2.2 patchset was released, Oracle moved to bundling several one-off patches together and releasing them as "cumulative patches". The difference here is that the patches are run through some QA and include fixes that most customers are likely to encounter.
    The problem that you may run into is that if you encounter an issue the requires a fix, then Oracle will tell you to patch to the latest patchset and cumulative patch (if it is already fixed there) or they will tell you to patch to that point anyway since the "timer" has run out for back porting fixes to 10.1.2.1 and 10.1.2.2 (you get a year). In other words, new fixes only go onto the latest patchset. Of course, you can "cross that bridge when you come to it"
    The 10.1.2.2 patchset and the 10.1.2.3 patchset include all the fixes in 5381031. Patch 5381031 is a good one to apply if you decided to stay on 10.1.2.1 or start with 10.1.2.1

  • Business Folder Upgrade from 11i to R12

    Hi,
    We are upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to R12.
    In the process, we have to upgrade discoverer folder also.
    To undergo the change, we are testing one report from 11i to R12.
    The report has the business folder as po_vendors in 11i, which is taking data from PO_VENDORS table from PO schema.
    As the PO_VENDORS table is obselete in R12.
    We are trying to change the PO_VENDORS table to AP_SUPPLIERS table and we are changing schema from PO to AP.
    We were able to do that in Disco Admin, but when I run the report from Desktop, we are not able to get the data.
    Where in SQLInspector we can that the query is changed, one more interesting thing is when we run the query from backend for exact set of parameters, its returning data.
    Is there anything which we need to take care, are we doing anything wrong.
    Please help.

    Object names are
    1) AP_INVOICES
    2) AP_INVOICES_DISTRIBUTIONS

    now when we change the views to base tables for e.g. AP_INVOICES to AP_INVOICES_ALL and AP_INVOICES_DISTRIBUTIONS to AP_INVOICES_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL then our report is givng data.

  • Discoverer integration with EBS R12 !!!

    Hello Sir,
    I need help to install/integrate Discoverer with R12.
    Actually, our clients are using Discoverer 4i in current EBS 11.5.10.2 in production. We have just upgraded EBS in TEST environment from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
    I had suggested client that Discoverer 4i is actually de-supported and they need to upgrade Discoverer version to minimum 10.1.2.3 or higher to integrate it with R12.1.3.
    Now, client also have requirement for Discoverer to be certified with MS Excel 2010 format. So I have suggested to upgrade Discoverer version to minimum 11.1.1.4.
    Latest certified Discoverer version is 11.1.1.7.0 as per note Using Discoverer 11.1.1 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (Doc ID 1074326.1)
    1) Can you please provide your opinion and any documentation which I can follow to install/integrate Discoverer with R12 ?
    2) Do I need to first install separate 10gAS for installing Discoverer 10.1.2.3 or Fusion middleware home for installing Discoverer 11g ? If yes, where can I find doc for this installation ?
    3) Since 10g support has ended July 2013, where can I get media for installing 10gAS ?
    4) Is there any additional licences required for using either Discoverer 10g or Discoverer 11g ?

  • Migrating discoverer queries from 10g to 11g

    We are thinking about upgrading Discoverer 10G to 11G. Is there any type of query migration process necessary? Or will the 10G queries run just fine in 11G?
    Thanks!

    They should run fine for the most part - perform the upgrade in test instance and then verify.

  • Upgrade AS 9.0.4 questions

    Hi !!
    I am trying to gather information for planning an upgrade of our AS and Portal environment.
    We are are version 9.0.4.1 and my predecessors had a tentative plan to upgrade our AS to version 10.1.2.0.2 and Portal to version 10.1.4. Both our Metadata Repository and Customer databases are on version 9.2.0.7. We use Forms and Discoverer viewer as well with our current Portal setup.
    I am new to AS and am still in the learning phase. I am getting a confused/overwhelmed by the documentation I am going through regarding AS upgrades, and would like to get some help from experienced folks if possible.
    Here are my questions:
    1. What is the best AS version we can upgrade to from 9.0.4 (preferably not the latest)?
    Would it require a database upgrade? If so what version?
    2. What version of Portal should we upgrade to? What are the differences between 10.1.2.0.2 and 10.1.4 or later versions?
    3. What would be the ideal Discoverer version with the upgraded version of AS? and Why?
    Is it possible to just do the Discoverer upgrade staying with our 9.0.4 AS configuration?
    If we can upgrade Discoverer only, would that cause any problems with our AS upgrade later on?
    Any information you can provide would be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi AMN,
    Thanks for your detailed response with your comments and suggestions. They were very helpful.
    I went through the threads you referred to, and have been going through a lot of documentation regarding the upgrades.
    As you said in your response, we have come to a conclusion that AS 10.1.2.0.2 is a suitable patch to upgrade to, and version 10.1.4 for Portal.
    But I still am confused about a few things with respect to the 10gR2 AS upgrade from our 9.0.4.1 version.
    More than anything, I have not been able to figure out if we have to upgrade our 9.2.0.7 Metadata Repository and Customer (on a different server) Databases to 10g.
    We have plans to patch them to the terminal 9i version of 9.2.0.8.
    If you don't mind, can you clear a few of my dilemmas and answer a few questions? I am going to quote a few things from some documents I have been reading before I put forward my questions.
    Confusion regarding the minimum database version supported, to be at Oracle AS 10g Release 2 (Patch set 2 or 3):
    The Release Notes for 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 2 (10.1.2.2.0) for AIX 5L Based Systems (64-Bit), under Section "2.1 Supported Database Versions" states the following:
    "{color:#0000ff}If your database version is 9.2.0.7 or 10.2, then the Oracle Database 10.1.0.5 database patch is not required. Also, the Metadata update for upgrading the Metadata Repository should be run from the middle tier.{color}"
    The Release Notes for 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Patch Set 3 (10.1.2.3.0) for AIX 5L Based Systems (64-Bit), under Section "2.3 Database Patch Set" states the following:
    "{color:#0000ff}If your database release is 9.2.0.8 or 10.2, then the Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.5) database patch is not required. The Metadata Repository Update for upgrading the Metadata Repository should be run from the middle tier.{color}"
    But as per Table 1, and Table 2 in DocID: 329361.1 (Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Support Status and Alerts), it looks like the d

    +1. Is it a requirement to upgrade our existing 9i Metadata Repository and Customer databases to 10g for upgrading our AS to version 10.1.2.2.0 or 10.1.2.3.0, and Portal to version 10.1.4.1 or 10.1.4.2?+
    +2. If so, is it true for upgrading to AS version 10.1.2.0.2 and Portal to version 10.1.4.0?+
    In the documentation that I have gone through so far for the AS upgrade to 10gR2, I have seen notes similar to the examples below from DocID: 415222.1:
    "{color:#0000ff}Patch 4505133 (10.1.0.5.0 Patchset) should be applied to all Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 homes.{color}"
    "{color:#0000ff}It is now strongly recommended that these homes be updated with Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.2 Patchset, where the 10.1.0.5.0 update is automatically applied to non-database homes.{color}"
    We have separate Oracle Homes for Infrastructure, MidTier, Metadata Repository Database, and Customer Database (this is on a different server).
    Questions:+
    +1. Does the statements above mean that our 9i Oracle Homes for Infrastructure and MidTier are going to be patched automatically to 10.1.0.5.0 when we upgrade to 10.1.2.0.2?+
    Confusion regarding the Portal version after the upgrade:
    As per Table 3 in DocID: 329361.1 [http://Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) Support Status and Alerts|http://oracle%20application%20server%2010g%20release%202%20%2810.1.2%29%20support%20status%20and%20alerts/],
    "{color:#0000ff}Upgrading to Portal 10.1.4 is currently optional, but once on Portal 10.1.4.0, it is _mandatory to upgrade to Portal 10.1.4.1 or 10.1.4.2_, depending on availability.{color}"
    Questions:*
    +1. Does this mean that after upgrading our AS to version 10.1.2.0.2, we have the following options?:+
    +(a) Keep our Portal at version 10.1.2 and upgrade to version 10.1.4, or+
    +(b) Upgrade Portal to version 10.1.4, in which case, upgrade AS to version 10.1.2.2.0 or 10.1.2.3.0 since it is mandatory.+
    A few more doubts:
    As per Table 35 in DocID: 753340.1 [CPUJAN2009 Availability Information
    for Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware Products], the terminal CPU
    for AS version 10.1.2.0.2 is CPUAPR2008.
    Does this mean that CPUAPR2008 is included in the 10.1.2.2 and 10.1.2.3 patch sets?
    Down the line in the future, depending on what 10gR2 AS Patchset we
    upgrade to now, are there any limitations/issues for a possible AS 11g
    Upgrade when it becomes available?
    Could you also please define/elaborate the term "non-database home" that I saw many times in the Patchset release notes? I think that it refers to the Infrastructure and MidTier Oracle Homes. Is that correct?
    Sorry for throwing such a lot of stuff at you. But I think that your experience can help me a lot.
    Thanks again for all your help. Let me know if you need any more information regarding our environment here.

  • Discoverer Viewer login through Apps errors out

    Hi All,
    May I request for inputs on the following issue please.
    SR : 5428453.993
    Customer upgrades discoverer from 4i to 10g (10.1.2.48.18)
    While running discoverer reports from the APPS
    A connection error has occurred.
    - OracleBI Discoverer was unable to authenticate using the password
    provided. This can happen due to an invalid password or because the
    password was lost while using back, forward, or refresh in your browser.
    Please enter the password again to continue.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications
    database (afscpgcs)
    Modified the following profile option value.
    ICX: Discoverer use Viewer
    Set the value as No from Yes. This change forces the Discoverer to launch
    Discoverer Plus rather than viewer.
    After changing the profile option, customer can access discoverer workbooks without any issues (through Plus).
    Logged a bug 5305401 for this issue.
    The log file (AFLOG enabled) contains the following error.

    Verified s_appserverid_authentication .. it is set to OFF
    Regards,
    Ramana Panyam.
    Further verification revealed the following.
    Enabled AFLOG for discoverer and found that the ICX ticket is not get created properly. It should be haxdecimal code rather than the plain session cookie name.
    From the customer's instance..
    PROCEDURE fnd.src.security.afscp.afscptik: Begin(ticket = eimbh005_test)
    From working environment.
    PROCEDURE fnd.src.security.afscp.afscptik: Begin(ticket = Wx3myvLOvse5BsRDrFVuJdkz:S)
    seems the session cookie name is replacing the cookie value. Cookie value is not being populated.
    Any inputs are highly appreciated.

    Are you on a 11.5.10 environment? If so please make sure your DBC-file is generated correctly. Since 11.5.10 Discoverer will be started using SSL mode.
    Do you have the same issue when connecting thourg the Desktop or even with the Plus (directly from the /discoverer/plus url)? If so, please make sure the 'ICX: Launch Discoverer Plus/Viewer' have the correct value. E.g. http://<server.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?Connect=[APPS_SECURE]

  • Oracle GL (11.5.10.2) APPS Mode.. GL Security Upgrade Disco 4i to 10g

    Hi there
    We upgrade Discoverer 4i to BI Discoverer 10g release2, I have responsibilities define for each module, my all responsibilities are working fine in Discoverer 10g , except GL responsibilities, I am not able to see the data in Discoverer 10g (Desktop/Plus). BUT when I login through Discoverer 4i (Desktop), I can see the data ... means my old GL Reports are working fine with Disco 4i Desktop but same report don't show the data with the same responsibility in Disco 10g (desktop/Plus).
    Any Idea.
    Thanks

    Thanks russ. Your Answers..
    1) Yes I did already.
    2) Yah I can see the reports from the user. Actually its a same user.
    3) Yes there is a gl_security_pkg.validate_access is in sql. But when I go look Script from TOAD, I can see the package name and then If I tried to find that It says gl_security_pkg not found from database through EUL_US user.
    I found Note:139817.1 at meta link which says some thing about the bugs, Is it related to my problem too? The document looks too old.
