Upgrade eligibility question.

So my contract is up Jan 29th 2011, but everywhere I read it says "within" 2010 you'll be able to upgrade. But when I do the *639# thing it says I can upgrade and waive the $18 fee. Then I read, take your contract end date and minus 6 months, and if that ends in 2010 then you ok. I'm so confused, can some please specify what exactly the upgrade terms are please. Thanks!

  • IPhone Upgrade Eligibility Question

My old iPhone 3G has finally died (a collision accident that popped the screen and forced it into white screen mode. I have no way of fixing this, and if there is a solution involving the home and sleep buttons, I have no luck because the latter button is in disrepair.
I lived with a phone with broken pixels and the aforementioned broken skeep button so that I would be able to save my At&T upgrade for the next iPhone. I require a phone now though. Would I lose my upgrade offer if I were to replace my phone temporarily with a free iPhone 3GS?  It is extremely important that I know as soon as possible.
    I'm looking forward to responses.
    Thank you.

All right, thank you. It looks like that all of my data is safe at the moment. It's in dormancy of course.
It looks like there's no way for me to wait for the iPhone 5 then, after all of this time waiting. I find it rather unfortunately that I can't get a temporary replacement somehow.
Anyway, how do I back-up the back-up so I don't accidentally overwrite it with something else?

  • Losing upgrade eligibility without buying a new phone?

I am currently on a family plan, but I'm not the account owner. Our family is wanting to split our plan different ways (the account owner wants to switch vendors), while I am very happy with Verizon and want to stay. We're currently on a Verizon month-to-month. I just got back from a Verizon store where they answered my questions, but there was one that wasn't answered clearly.
I want my own individual plan through Verizon, but I already have a smartphone that I purchased from Verizon (subsidized) 2 years ago, that I am very happy with at the moment and have no desire on replacing yet. My understanding is that I will have to start a new individual contract because I'm no longer a part of the old Family Plan. My main concern is whether I will lose my upgrade eligibility if I do not also purchase a new subsidized phone at the start of my contract. Do I maintain my upgrade eligibility if I start a new contract with my current phone, and can use that upgrade when I am ready in the future? Or do I have to immediately upgrade my phone when I sign a new contract?

You would do an Assumption of Liability for your line - and get on your own plan (if you can live with 2GB data, the $60 unlimited text and talk, and 2GB data single line plan is about the best deal you'll get.) If you re currently out of contract, month to month, then you would be bringing your own phone to the plan, remain month to month and upgrade eligible.

  • Keeping upgrade eligibility?

Can someone help me understand my options?  I have 2 phones: a Droid Razr and an iPhone 4S on my account.  Both are eligible for upgrades.  I want to add an iPhone 5S on a new line.  Transfer the number that is on the 4S to the new 5S.  Then i want to keep the 4S in my account but port my Dad's Tmobile's pre-paid number to it.  Is that doable?  Will I lose the upgrade eligibility on the iPhone 4S?
    I'm so confused!
    thanks!
    Tom

Great questions, Tom! It is can certainly be done. I recommend to first upgrade the line that wants the iPhone 5S and then add a new line. The iPhone 4S can be activated on the new line which will not require a contract as you are providing the equipment. To port the number in. visit: vzw.com/lnp . Go to vzw.com/iphone to upgrade line. To add a new line of service without a contract as you are using existing equipment, call our Telesales team at 800-256-4646. Let me know if you have further questions or concerns.
    Thank you,

  • New AT&T Upgrade Eligibility Update (Apple Stores Not Aware???) *Important*

This is the link to AT&T official update release:
    http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=1574
I went to my local AT&T store and informed them about this, and the person that took care of me didn't know about it, she was like "No, you gotta wait till 7/13/09 (My case) so that you will be eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 3G S, or you can do the Early Upgrade which is $200 more for both models(16 and 32 GBs)", but than I said that AT&T release this to those that will be eligible in the next three upcoming months so they can pay $199 for 16GBs and $299 for 32GBs, the guy that was next to her that was there was the only one aware of this update, so I kind of understand why is it that Apple doesn't know anything about this (since I called 2 retail stores and they didn't know anything neither main Headquarters) but I would like for someone in Apple to take a look at this and see what's going on, because where I live iPhones 3G S are in back order in the AT&T stores and since I gotta upgrade, my best bet it's going to AT&T, but I could purchase it at the Apple store because they do have in stock here, but than I checked in Apple's website, whenever I'm going to buy it it says that I gotta pay $399 for the 16GBs because I'm not eligible till 7/13/09 and again Apple does NOT know anything about this Upgrade Eligibility Update so they will charge me more, at the end I'm gonna have to wait till AT&T gets some iPhones 3G S and buy it there, but what ****** me off is that they have it in the retail store here
    Please any info on this!!!

Yes, and I said that I was eligible in 7/13/09 and yes I'm part of the family plan, I do spend more than $99 and I already went to the AT&T store and the lady that took care of me in AT&T didn't know this, just one guy in there that was an employee like her knew about it, so even AT&T employees do not know this(Must of them) now, in the AT&T stores near me the Phone 3G S is not available since they ran out, but the Apple stores near me they do have it so I checked with Apple and they do not know anything about this, even the main Headquarters, and when I go buy it they are going to charge me $399 for the 16GBs iPhone 3Gs so I guess I'm gonna have to wait for AT&T to have it in the store near me, which *****, because I'm gonna have to wait, when in the Apple store they have it.

  • IPad Upgrade Eligibility

I currently own an Verizon iPad and 'might' purchase the iPad 2 sometime in the future. My Verizon account currently says I'm eligible for an 'upgrade', but because the upgrade is tied to my iPad device, I'm not sure what the upgrade option means for me.
Does this mean I'm eligible to 'upgrade' to an iPad 2?? The upgrade issue is even more confusing because when I click on the upgrade options available to me, my account list phones, not the iPad 2. I'm assuming this is because my current iPad has a 'telephone number' attached to the account. Has anyone else received and upgrade eligibility notice for their iPad? If so, what does it mean?

When your My Verizon website indicates that you are eligible for upgrade, you can upgrade to any device (phone, tablet or broadband device). Please note that the iPad 2 is only sold at full retail price and using your upgrade will not make a difference on the price you pay for it. Additionally, no contract is required for an iPad 2 as you pay full retail price.

  • Why has my upgrade eligibility been pushed back?

I know I posted about this before, but it still baffles me. Right now I'm using a droid razr maxx HD which was bought around March of 2012. The site says my upgrade eligibility is for March of 2015. The really interesting thing is that I bought my mother a phone last November (much farther after my own phone) and hers is set right around the 2 year for an upgrade which is fine. Why then was my upgrade pushed back another year? Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't think you got your RAZR MAXX HD when you think you did.
That phone wasn't released until October of 2012.  I'm thinking you got it March of 2013 which would put March of 2015 at your 2-year mark.
You should be able to go into My Verizon documents section and see the actual receipt for the phone with the date.

  • Best Option Regarding Upgrade Eligibility

Okay..here is my situation.  Sorry if this was answered on another thread.   My wife and I have a family plan.  Her line is the primary line (the first listed on our account).  Both of us have upgrade eligibility on 2/13.  When I check eligibility on both Verizon and Apple, her number is eligible to purchase the 16gb phone at 199.  Mine, however is not.  She doesn't want the Iphone.  What is the best way for me to get the upgrade and pre-order on the 3rd.?  Should I do the "Buddy Swap" or should I order through her eligible upgrade and switch the number?  Regardless of which is the best, how do I do each?  Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

instore would be the easiest way.
if you order online then this would work
    1. order
    2. activate on her line, it will add a data plan to her line
    3. re-activate her old phone on her line via account manager, remove data plan if not needed
    4. activate on your line, choose data plan
this is what been suggested in the past for other phones, and should work with the i-phone or any phone.
or when you recive it call customer service and have them do it

  • Misleading upgrade eligibility page

    Verizon,
Just wanted to let you guys know that you should seriously consider adding some sort of disclaimer to the upgrade eligiblity page. I saw that I was eligible for the early edge upgrade and rushed in today and waited over an hour for my turn....except! It was only to find out the upgrade was to a specific phone, and not any phone of my choice. Had I known there were these restrictions, I would not have wasted over an hour of my time just sitting at Verizon with my mom.
My family has been customers to Verizon for as long as I can remember and these days I no longer have a good reason to stay at Verizon. Everyone tells me to switch to AT&T and I can definitely see that happening soon with all the money and time I have wasted on Verizon.
Please change your upgrade eligibility page so that other people's times aren't wasted like mine. Verizon Wireless Customer Support

I also hope you knew that you'd have to upgrade using Edge which means paying full price for the device. Good luck with your new carrier.

  • Special Upgrade Eligibility

I have been a Verizon customer for almost all of my life. I had gotten a phone about a year and a half ago and have had non stop issues with it. I have been working with the local store to get it resolved without any luck. Last night I logged onto my Verizon and saw a special Upgrade Eligibility notification! I was so happy! About time things went my way a little.  So I went into the store....  Picked out the note 3.... And then got told there was no such notification. Needless to say I was rather upset.  I am toying  around with the idea of just going to AT&T.  Any suggestions from anyone?

Was it an offer for you to use the Early Edge option?

  • Annual upgrade eligibility

I am trying to figure out my annual upgrade date (still under NE2 contract) I previously upgraded in June/July of 2010.  According to my My Verizon upgrade bar I am in my eleventh month of my contract, which makes no sense to me!!  If this is the case then my annual upgrade would be next month.  Could someone elaborate on this and maybe tell me more of a concrete date.  I would call customer service but I have heard of many people calling and the rep not having any idea what they are talking about.  Thanks!!!

You're annual upgrade data is exactly 1 year from when you began your current contract. if you don't know when this is, log into My Verizon and click upgrade phone, it will tell you when you're eligible for discounted pricing.
My Verizon will only tell you your 2 year upgrade eligibility, unless your annual upgrade is already available, which is not discounted.
Yes, the annual upgrade IS discounted from the full retail price of a phone, if you are eligible. Eligible lines include calling plans of $49.99 and above for contracts signed before 1/16/2011. You may have to pay a $20 fee to upgrade, but this is dramatically less than the full retail price of the phone.

  • Upgrade eligibility transfer

I have 4 lines on my plan. My phone is not eligible for upgrade but one of my child's is. I want to transfer upgrade eligibility.
I want to upgrade to the 6 plus.
How do I do this? How does it work?
Do I just add an extra next plan to my account and pay on both?
I'd give my child my phone and upgrade mine to the 6 plus.

As of now, the only way to upgrade with a 2 year contract is to have the phone mailed to you, even if you upgrade in a store.
You can upgrade your child's line, but have the phone activated on your line, and pass your phone down to your child when they need it.
If you use Next, you may be able to upgrade your line now without borrowing your child's upgrade.

  • Upgrade Eligibility Moved to 24 Months

I'm curious as to how people feel about the upgrade eligibility being moved to 24 months, to coincide with the end of the contracts.  Please share your thoughts but remain respectful of others and their opinions.
The link is below from the statement that VZW issued.  There are also some other points in the announcement, but I think that this is the major one.

Verizon is risking losing customers. Here's why. Most people want to upgrade as soon as they are eligible. Well at 20 months you are still under contract so it's not like you can leave without paying a lot of money anyways. So if you want that new phone you're not going to wait 4 extra months when you can get it now. Nor are you going to pay and ETF because then you might as well be paying full price. So you upgrade and BAM new 2 year contract. Under this new scenario the upgrade and contract have the same end date so one can look at other carriers and leave Verizon without penalty.
Someone made this point in another thread, but I can't remember who it was.  Do you remember Brian?  Maybe this is part of the positive spin that Verizon Wireless put on this announcement.
    Ann154, you're welcome!

  • What happened to my upgrade eligibility?

I have a family plan with 3 lines.  My droid is my main phone, with two envy 2's as the other two phones.  The envy's are eligible for upgrade, but I've only had the droid for 15 months.
As of 2 weeks ago, when I went to my account and looked at my upgrade eligibility, the droid was listed as being not eligible but there was a quick option to take the upgrade from one of the other phones.  That option is gone now and I can't do it.
But, with that said, when I hit the button for "upgrade a device" it shows all 3 (droid included) with a picture icon that says "upgrade at discounted price".
So.. can I get a new contract price on this line or not?
If not, do I have to go back to the old way of upgrading the two phones that are eligible, then calling vzw and changing the numbers around..
    Thanks..

So.. can I get a new contract price on this line or not? Your primary line is probably eligible for an "annual upgrade" because it is the primary line on your account and has completed at least 12 months of its contract.  If you use the annual upgrade, you will forfeit any New Every 2 credit you are eligible for and may have to pay a $20 fee, but you will be eligible to upgrade at the contract price if you sign a new 2 year agreement.  Since the website seems to be telling you two different things, a quick call to CS to double check might be in order.  I suspect the "transfer upgrade" option isn't showing because the line is already eligible though.
If not, do I have to go back to the old way of upgrading the two phones that are eligible, then calling vzw and changing the numbers around.. Unless you upgrade through a third party retailer like Amazon or Wirefly that requires you to sign a contract directly with them in addition to your Verizon contract, you will be able to swap your phones around as often as you like.  If you want to move around two active phones, you'll need help from CS, just call them from a phone not involved in the swap.
    Thanks..

  • Device Return and Upgrade Eligibility

I am part of a family plan and I just purchased a new phone from the Verizon website because my line eligible for an upgrade.  If I decide to return this phone and go back to my old phone instead of getting replacement now and wait until a later date to upgrade what will happen?  Will my line stay on the new contract and not be eligible for an upgrade for two years, or will I go back to my old contract terms and remain eligible for a new device at a discounted price now?

I'm within my 14 days, and the restocking fee isn't a problem, but what happens with my contract and upgrade eligibility?
