Upgrade errors without using a gui

I am on linux or unix and using exceed to run the installer across the network. It is very slow. I have done several installs/upgrades of different versions and types of oracle recently.
Is there an easy way to get the errors or prereq failures without scrolling in the gui? Just using the scroll bar on the prereq screen is a problem. Is there a way to do a silent install that only does the prereq checks? I got some warning and I want to find them?
When I look in the InstallActions file, i can't find the logs from prereqs. where would they be? I think they only write when I cancel out of the oui (I would prefer not to due this since its really slow).
yeah I know about silent installs. No time to create the response files right now. for now, I just want the prereeq warnings or failures?

No, if they bought it, then its theirs. You may wish to contract iTS for options in case it was part of the Mac Acceptance.

You can use option 3 to construct the error message inside orchestration.
Before using a BizTalk XML Message inside an orchestration, it must first be constructed. In fact this is just populating the message with XML. If there is an attempt to use this message before it is constructed, the above error will come. Some messages
come pre-constructed, such as messages that originate from a send port
There are several ways to construct a message inside an orchestration:
Create a new message from an existing message using BizTalk map
Assign one message to other(i.e. creating a copy of an existing message)
Creating a message with the help of a System.XML.XMLDocument variable
We have to first declare an orchestration variable of type XmlDocument. Then in a message assignment shape, we need to do something like this:
myxmlDoc = new XmlDocument();
myxmlDoc.LoadXML("<somexmlhere></somexmlhere>")
myMsgBeingConstructed = myxmlDoc;

Sap upgrade-Error when using DP90-OK 530-field catalog not found

We are upgrading from 4.6c to mySAP ERP 2004 version. In 4.6c, we are using VA90 to create a sales order from service order to bill the customer. However in mySAP ERP 2004 version, VA90 does not exist. So we created DP profile and are using transaction code DP90 to create billling request for the service order. However, System gives an error 'Field catalog not found'. The diagnosis says that -The field catalog cannot be determined because the output table structure name was not specified.
Please help us how to solve the above problem.

I would like to mention few stuffs too..
for manually.
1. startup nomount pfile=path of the pfile.
2. run the create datbase script.
3. run catalog.sql, catproc.sql script.
that was the brief idea,but you need to create your sample pfile,setting up your dir locations,setting envrmnts variables.
for gui envrmnts you have DBCA , use it and forget about all the cavtes.

Spotlight: How to update Finder/Spot Comments without Finder/Automator/GUI?

I am trying to find a way to update the Spotlight Comments field without using a GUI like Finder/Automator.
OS X provides good commandline tools for reading metadata.
% mdls myfile
would list:
kMDItemFinderComment = "This is David's file."
This is good for searching.
Now, I need to write/update the metadata instead of just reading it. E.g. I want something like
% mdupdate kMDItemFinderComment "This is Aber's file now."
I have searched through the documentation for Spotlight but all the examples given were on querying the file. There is no documentation for updating metadata programmatically.
Since OS X did not provide any command line tool to update metadata, is there some C/Carbon/Cocoa API I can call from a C program to do so? If yes, then I can write a command line C program to achieve what I need.
(or could someone point me to third party command line app to do likewise?)

I noticed the same thing/shortcoming a while ago. I think what you're after is an excellent comandline tool called 'xattr'. Have a look here, you can download the source or the binary from the links on that page.

After upgrading GRC 10 to SP14, assigning manual passwords during the approval of a request, the approval process is failing.
Here is the scenario; your advice will be appreciated.
Task: Manually assign passwords to multiple systems contained in the request
Where: On the access request, go to “User System Details” tab
Issue: After approving/submitting the request, the error “Database error while using the secure store” is generated
Logs: Nothing on transactions SLG1 or ST22; however ST11 shows the error attached below:

Other scenarios executed as a workaround, and passed the password assignment this time:
The approval will work if only one password is assigned to any of the given systems. The rest of the systems get an auto-generated
password.
ARM also accepts multiple passwords when the requestor assigns passwords on the “User System Details” prior submitting a
request. The GRC admin can approve once reached for system approval.
AS FYI, “Confirm Password” is only required when creating the request but not on any other stage.

File conversion from text to CSV on present server without using GUI FM

Hi Folks,
This question may sound a bit weired but here it is. I have to convert a text file to csv using a SAP ABAP Report.
The file is located on the presentation server and I am using FM's GUI upload and GUI download to do the same as the number of fields change and we perform some operations on the data coming from the text file. Actually, the csv file is supposed to act as a source system for SAP BI.
Now my question is is there any other way by which we can do it without using the above function modules.

You upload the Text file using GUI_UPLOAD and now you will have the records in the internal table and then use GUI_DOWNLOAD to download the file in CSV format.

Hello. I am Upgrading PeopleTools 8.49 to 8.50 Manually without using an Upgrade Template because I cannot download an Upgrade Template from Oracle.
Upgrading is actually add/drop some tables/views in PeopleTools 8.49 Database using Chang Assistant 8.50.
According to the document "Enterprise PeopleTools 8.50 Upgrade" Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, after configure Change Assistant 8.50 and EMF, we need to creat an Upgrade job and run some scripts.
I have configured Change Assistant 8.50 and EMF. EMF run successfully. After that, I don't know the exact steps to do in Change Assistant.
Can any folks tell me the steps to upgrade PT8.49 to 8.50 manually in Chang Assistant without using an Upgrade Template after configure Change Assistant and EMF ?

Do you know what is Change Assistant ? It is running job defined from template and indicate when step has to be done manually. But Change Assistant itself is nothing but an assistant, it does not build record, it does not run DMS, it does not run sql script, for all those Change Assistant is calling corresponding tools (AppDesigner, DataMover, SQL*Plus). Consequently, if you don't have template, you should do yourself every single step usually ran by the PsCA, but you won't need PsCA itself, just run manually whatever indicated in the doc (basically replace "PsCA" by "manually").
As I already told you earlier, it is tedious, but works fine if you pay attention enough.

Using text in a GUI without using .swing classes

In a Java application, is there any way to create a text object that can be positioned in a GUI like an ImageIcon (using a class from the standard Java API)? For example, when using ImageIcon, you feed the x and y-coordinates, whereas with .swing, you'd have to create a new panel, position the panel, and re-position the panel using BorderLayout.(direction).
Ex. (with ImageIcon, you'd place it like so):
//construct ImageIcon w/ URL
ImageIcon myImage = new ImageIcon(new URL("http://..."));
//x and y are pixels to the right and to the bottom from the top left corner
myImage.paintIcon( (Component), (Graphics), x, y);
//I'm looking for one that does the same, like this (without using an image, preferrably), TextMessage is what the class might be:
