Upgrade external subscribers

What's the procedure to upgrade external subscribers?
We are upgrading to 6.5 from 3.0.2 and can't find how to upgrade our
external subscribers (windows machines without eDirectory). The upgrade
app doesn't show external subscribers object eligible to upgrade, only
distributors and subscribers.
Thanks in advance

Maybe, documentation say nothing about external subscribers. I'm doing
all the upgrade process using the gui app and it seems to no cover them.
If posible I'm prefer to use this method. I think i hava more control
over the process.

  • Upgrading external hard drive to OSX 10.8.5

I purchased a 27 inch iMac in 2011 and within a year, decided to update the original terabyte sata drive with an SSD.   I kept the old drive, which had OSX 10.7.2.   I'm about to get rid of it, but wanted to keep the old drive and possibly use it to clone future drives (it has Adobe and some other programs on it).   I hooked it up Firewire to my iMac and booted with it.   I was able to upgrade it to OSX 10.7.5 simply by doing updates.    I tried booting my 2012 Mac Mini but it wouldn't work.   I have found that if I can get an external drive up to OSX 10.8.5, I can boot practically any hard drive from any source (Macbook Air, Mini, iMac or Macbook Pro).   I would like to update this one to 10.8.5, but no way am I opening up this iMac again to swap it out with the SSD.   Doing it the first time was scary enough! LOL   My question is, if while booted to this terabyte drive on the iMac, can I upgrade it if I have the proper discs to do so, ie. Mountain Lion?   I don't want to stick the disc in while I am booted to the drive unless I know it will upgrade it rather than mess with Mavericks that is on the actual iMac's SSD.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hello,
Do a Get Info on that drive, who has what rights?
In particular does system have R&W rights, or just you?

  • After Lion Upgrade, External Display ( DVI ) Not detecting Monitor.

This problem is on my Macbook Pro 17" 2006 (ish) intel core 2 duo.
I have allways used the display port with a DVI cable connected to a DVI port on an external monitor to extend my desktop.
For some reason after upgrading to Lion, I can't detect the external display.  If I use an adapter ( Display connector to VGA ) and connect into the VGA input on the monitor, all works fine.
I did connect to the DVI port and left it connected for about an hour, then clicked the " Detect Displays " button, and it worked once. But after this it hasn't worked again.
I have changed the cable, and even the monitor, but it just won't detect..
    Any Ideas ??
    Dan

After ugrading to LION i can't use an external monitor or TV-screen.
Just purchased a Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter to connect my 13" macbook to an HDTV. I plugged the mini display to hdmi adapter into my macbook and then connected an hdmi cable from the adapter to the tv. the macbook display briefly went blue but then display the normal screen again.
I've search for the past few hours with no luck. I've tried to manually detect the display and nothing. I've tried 2 different TV's and both have the same result. I've tried rebooting my macbook also with no luck. Am I missing something? If I go into System Preferences > Displays there is no mirroring options or anything like that. It just shows the "Color LCD" option. Like I said, upon clicking the "Detect Display" button, nothing changes and no additional display are detected for use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Upgrade external HD from Mavericks to Yosemite

    Hi,
On my MBP I have installed Mavericks 10.9.5.
Then I have a couple of external hard drive with a clone of Mavericks 10.9.5.
If I have a cloned hard drive plugged in (not booting off from it), and I run the installer of Yosemite and I tell to install Yosetime on the external hard drive (where there’s a clone of Mavericks 10.9.5) what would then happen.
Would Yosemite erase everything from the clone, or would the clone upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite, else?
    Thanks

No, the Yosemite install will not erase everything on the clone.
Yes, the clone would upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite. All your apps and data will not be touched.
I actually did something similar onto an SD card. I installed Yosemite 10.10, apps and data. Then later, I ran the 10.10.1 installer against the SD card and all that happened was Yosemite updated from 10.10 to 10.10.1. Nothing else was touched.

  • After Leopard upgrade external drive not mounting

Ok, after finally getting through the dead blue screen issue I have Leopard up and running.
New problem, my external USB hard drive (I/O Magic 80GB USB 2.0) will not mount. I've used this drive up to and including the day I started the upgrade as my backup drive. Now when I plug it in it does not mount, I cannot see it listed in Disk Utility and it does not show up in the System Profiler. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this to work?

    Update:
I brought it (third time's a charm?) to the Apple Store once again: the iMac, the WD My Book, my cables, etc. They tried it; no luck. They tried the My Book in their computer (think it was a MacBook running Leopard) with my cable; showed up no prob.
One other interesting thing this tech did was look in Apple Profiler for Firewire, where there was an odd Warning in red that no Firewire devices could be found. (This while plugged in to 400 Firewire port w my cable.) Then tried it plugged in to my iMac w 800 Firewire cable; voila! It appeared! Then tried another device in the 400 slot; it showed up fine. (huh?) Tried a different 400 FW cable w My Book in iMac, no luck.
The tech looked bemused. He sold me an 800 FW cable and told me to try sending the cable back to Western Digital.
Meanwhile, twelve days after contacting WD about this problem, they responded with this link:
Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support and I apologize for the delayed response.
We have seen a couple of issues with Leopard.
The following link Addresses formatting issues with certain drives used with Time Machine
(specifically, single-partition MBR drives greater than 512 GB in size as well as NTFS drives of any size and partition scheme). http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306907
The following link addresses the latest release updates to the Leopard operating system 10.5.1. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/11/12/latestmac_os_x_10_5_1_build_fixes_finder_data_lossissue.html
I haven't used Time Machine yet (will get different external for that if I decide to) so the second link was more applicable to my situation.
I did just install 10.5.1 a couple days ago, it didn't resolve this for me; since other devices worked in the 400 port, the tech thought perhaps it was a software issue...<grin>
Hope others have equally simple solutions..

  • IPhoto - Upgrading external library

I have my old iPhoto library stored on my external drive to save space. I tried to point iPhoto to it today and it tells me that it needs to be upgraded in order to be opened by the newer version of iPhoto that I now have. It says it "may take a few minutes" but just hangs for hours and iPhoto becomes unresponsive.
Can anyone suggest another way for me to access this photo library?
    Thanks

That might be a sign of a damaged library. You can try the following: backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select last three options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    OT
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Hardware Upgrade: External BlueRay Recorder GGWH20L

I have started producing one-off, high definition films for weddings and have been looking for a decent way to deliver them to customers. I am currently using a combination of standard DVD with HD QuickTime movie in the DVD-ROM contents and have experimented with HD-DVD on standard single layer discs which play back beautifully on Mac or HD Player but Windows can't play them.
Is anyone out there using the LG GGWH20L BlueRay Burner (which is a reasonable price now) with their Mac? I have a first gen white MacBook and would choose to connect to the drive using FW400 and an external enclosure but I believe that the drive uses a SATA interface so a specific enclosure might be needed. How does OS X see this drive? OS X isn't listed as supported by the manufacturer but then that doesn't mean it doesn't work. Any advice / experience very much appreciated.

Hello! First, you know now that you should never do multiple upgrades at the same time. That said I'd first look at the most likely which is an error in the hard drives. Often cable select won't work. Make sure the drive jumpered master is on the end of the ribbon away from the motherboard and the one jumpered slave is on the middle connector. New drives are usually jumpered either master or cable select and if you installed it as a slave without proper jumpering then that's the most likely place to start. Post back when you're sure the drives are physically connected properly. Tom

  • Sound Blaster Upgrade External Console-Anyone Famil

I have had?the External Console for a while, past the warranty period but never utilized the 'phono /aux' RCA in jacks in the rear. A couple of days ago, I plugged in my turntable into the jacks, I am not getting any sound? I have the Extreme Music internal sound card and have updated drivers for both, I would appreciate some guidance. I'm cabled from the internal card? to the console through the AD_Link, there isn't much more. If I connect my turntable directly to the internal card, it works fine? Don't seem to have any other options?

Yes, it will work. It'll wind up setting your USB ports to 6 bit by default, because it's going to be taking alot out of them, but it'll give you some beefy surround sound none the less. On the down side of this external card though, it's giving me a ton of **bleep** about ventrilo and fra

  • IMac: Upgrade harddrive or get an external drive?

I am running out of space on my harddrive (500GB) and am considering my options:
    1. Upgrade the harddrive in my IMac.
    2. Attach an external harddrive and move some large folders to it.
What are the experiences of others with either option? What is more affordable? What is a better solution for my working experience? If I opt for an internal upgrade, how do I replace the harddrive? Do I do it myself or go somewhere? And if upgrading externally, how do I move the files without it slowing down my working experience? I appreciate any help with this issue,
    Best, Arnout

you are going to have to delete, move or archive your data to regain at least 15-20 GBs of empty hard drive space.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive older emails you want to save.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Unistall any third party applications in your applications folder that you no longer use.
If the app has no uninstaller, just drag it to the OS X Trash icon. If the app has an uninstaller app, use this app to completely Unistall the application. Remember to empty OS X trash, again, when you are done deleting apps.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its thing initially, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run all of the processes in the tabs. Let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
You may have to Purchase an external FireWire or Thunderbolt hard drive to move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be moved, also, to the external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • CM Upgrade 8.6 to 9.1

I am running CM 8.6.2, I am upgrading to 9.1.2 I have the license and the media to ugrade.
I have applied all pre-9.0 licenses. I will not be using IPv6
I have around 350 phones total.
I have the following 3 Nodes
    Publisher 7825-I5 at my location.
Subscriber 7825-H3 with 6 Gig of RAM at my location.
Subscriber 7825-I3 with 6 Gig of RAM at a remoted location.
    Here are my questions
    1) Will I need to apply any COP files?
    2) Does the 7825-H3 caution "no option to revert to previous version", also apply to my 7825-I3?
    3) On my, remote 7825-I3 server, if I have the 32Gb thumbnail drive and the DVD both in the server,
can I remotely upgrade the server with no one at the remote location to assist me?
    4) Durring the upgrade of my publisher, should I boot the the new version or back to the existing verson?
(I will not upgrade my subscribers until after the publisher has finished)
    Thanks
    Ken

    Hi
Please find as per the below link i
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/cucos/8_6_1/cucos/iptpch7.html
After you Confirm you have the new licenses, as new licenses are required,
please upgrade the servers as below,
    * upgrade the call manager publisher (without restart)
    •      To upload the files please follow these steps,
++      From Cisco Unified OS Administration page , the option Software Upgrades >> Install/Upgrade
++      For upgrading from a CD choose DVD/CD from source drop-down menu
++      For upgrading through an FTP server, choose Remote Filesystem, and in the server field, insert the IP address of the device that is running the FreeFTPd server application,
++Make sure that you upgrade without restart to keep the upgraded version in the inactive partition after the upgrade is complete, and make sure to switch version only after all nodes are upgraded.
    * upgrade the call manager subscriber (without restart)
    * switch version on publisher you can use the following command,
    utils system switch-version
    * switch version on subscriber,
    utils system switch-version
UCCX and CUC should not be affected, just make sure that AXL users are not changed, and that they are compatible with the new call manager version,
if you have CUC and UCCX 8 then it is compatible.
and don't worry, the way how CUCM upgrade works,
during the upgrade call processing will not be affected, and the new version (9.1) will be saved in the inactive partition, so nothing will affect the current version, even if anything went wrong with the upgrade. the current version will NOT be affected
and for any reason or problems with the new version, you can always switch back to 8.6 with one command,
    utils system switch-version
in the upgrade process, all information will be stored, you will not lose anything.
i hope this has been helpful,
    Thank you

After Mountian Lion upgrade, external display shows no dock or menu bar when MBP wakes from sleep in clamshell mode.  I have to open and close the lid of the laptop to sort it out.  Any ideas?

MacBook is connected to AC adapter. My MacBook is almost new, I have it for only few months, connector looks clean.
I never had problems with AC adapter but I will try different wall outlet.
It's a shame that I have no other device with display port output so I can not test if the problem is with my display. With dual DVI connected to my desktop computer display works fine... for more than one year now...

  • Upgrade CUCM Subscriber after the CUCM Publisher, but when ?

    Dear Networkers,
Whe we do have a CUCM cluster to upgrade, i know that we should start by upgrading the publisher then upgrading the subscribers one by one.
    My question :
I remember i read somewhere that we can start upgrading the subscriber during the upgrade of the publisher but when the publisher reaches a special step in the displayed status in the output of the OS upgrade web page... I can't remember what was that step..
    Can you please help ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Haouaswajih,
    Upgrade a cluster:
When you upgrade a cluster to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9.0(1), begin upgrading the publisher
node first. You can begin upgrading subsequent nodes in parallel after the publisher node reaches a specified
point in the upgrade. The remainder of this section describes how to determine when you can begin to upgrade
    the subsequent nodes.
During the upgrade of the publisher node, view the installation log, install_log_.log, by using
the Software Installation/Upgrade window in Cisco Unified Communications Operating System Administration
or the command line interface (CLI). You can begin the upgrade of the subsequent nodes after the following
    information displays in the log:
    PRODUCT_TARGET is
    PRODUCT_NAME is
    PRODUCT_VERSION is
You can also use the CLI to search for the relevant information in the install log by following this procedure:
    Procedure
Step 1 List the install logs; for example:
    file list install install_* date
    install_log_2008-10-01.09.41.57.log install_log_2008-10-08.12.59.29.log
    install_log_2008-10-14.09.31.06.log
    dir count = 0, file count = 3
Step 2 Search the most recent install log for the string PRODUCT_VERSION; for example:
    file search install install_log_2008-10-14.09.31.06.log PRODUCT_VERSION
    Searching path: /var/log/install/install_log_2008-10-14.09.31.06.log
    Searching file: /var/log/install/install_log_2008-10-14.09.31.06.log
    10/14/2008 09:52:14 upgrade_os.sh|PRODUCT_VERSION is
    7.1.0.39000-97|
    Search completed
Step 3 When the file search command finds the PRODUCT_VERSION string in the install log, you can start the
    upgrade of the subsequent nodes.
If you want to upgrade the subsequent nodes in parallel with the publisher node, do not choose
the Reboot to upgraded partition on either publisher node or subsequent nodes while configuring
the upgrade options. If selected, the publisher node may complete its upgrade and reboot while
the subsequent nodes are upgrading, which causes the upgrade of the subsequent nodes to fail.
    Caution
When you are ready to activate the new version, you must activate the new software on the publisher node
before activating it on all other nodes.
Refer page 23 onwards in the below link,
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/upgrade/9_0_1/CUCM_BK_U8D523AB_00_upgrade-guide-cucm-90.pdf
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgrading Cluster without switch version

Hello, I just want to be clear to an upgrade I will be performing in future. We have CUCM cluster and want to know if it is possible to do the upgrade on the publisher (without switch version) and then continue to upgrade the subscribers, then switch version on all - or do I need to switch version on publisher before I can continue to update subscribers?
Also, I think that in the past, the upgrade takes a copy of the database when you upgrade, so you need to switch version soon after upgrade or you will loose any changes. Is this remain the case? Is this also the case for UCCX? I remember maybe reading in the past that it does the database differently.
    Thanks to you all

    Hi Ess,
In addition to the great tips from my friend Manish (+5)
You didn't mention the to/from CUCM versions but here is an example
    User Provisioning
For upgrades from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.x, changes that are made to the following user-facing features get preserved after the upgrade completes:
    •Call Forward All (CFA)
    •Message Waiting Indication (MWI)
    •Privacy Enable/Disable
    •Do Not Disturb Enable/Disable (DND)
    •Extension Mobility Login (EM)
    •Hunt Group Logout
    •Device Mobility
•CTI CAPF status for end users and application users
    •Credential hacking and authentication
    •Recording enabling
    •Single Number Reach enabling
    Upgrading a Cluster in Parallel
When you upgrade a cluster that is running a supported version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.x to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.5(1),  begin upgrading the first node first. You can begin upgrading  subsequent nodes in parallel after the first node reaches a specified  point in the upgrade.
