Upgrade flash player??????? A good idea??

I keep getting popups telling me I need an adobe flashplayer to see something and because it is "safer".  Would this be a safe and better thing to have?  So far I have not wanted to get entangled with downloads that are out there.

On no account download Flash Player from anywhere except Adobe themselves.
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Can't upgrade Flash Player to 10.0.32.18

    Hello,
Has anyone had any issues when trying to upgrade Flash Player to the latest version? The installer seems to hang and never completes.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I tried to install it with all browsers closed and it still failed. I then ran the uninstall and that failed the first time but worked the second time....so i have no flash player installed atm.
I downloaded the installer again and when I click on the .pkg file the installer shows up in the dock but again nothing happens. (I also can't shutdown the machine after this happens...I have to hold the power button)
Basically since the SL update my MBP has become very unstable.
    cheers

  • Please Help! I tried to upgrade Flash Player, but have older computer

Please Help! -- I tried to upgrade FLASH PLAYER, but I have an older MAC laptop OS X 10.4 = Version 4.1.3 (4533.19.4).
I need to UPGRADE Flash Player; however it's not available -- Recently, I cannot watch some videos or access particular websites.
I'm a teacher, and CAN'T AFFORD to buy  a new computer at this time.
    > Can Adobe Corp. please help by offering an expanded range of UPGRADE support ??

Unfortunately, if you're running OS 10.4, odds are that your Mac is a PowerPC model (-About This Mac will let you know for certain), and the newest version that will run on your system is Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and 9.0.289.0 (126 MB)
That's a direct link to the download, you can right click (or control+click) and save it to your downloads folder. Expand it with Stuffit Expander and run the 10.102.64 installer.
That's the best that can be hoped for because if your Mac is PowerPC, and I suspect it is, even Apple no longer supports it since September of 2009. The next OS X version (10.5) won't run the latest Player either. You'd need an Intel Mac with 10.6.3 or newer to use Flash Player 11.8.800.94.
PowerMax does have some really good deals on "pre owned" Macs. I've bought three from them myself over the years.

  • Safari Plug-In Failure after upgrading Flash Player

I've got OS X 10.9.2, Maverick, running on my iMac, and Safari 7.0.3.
Today I upgraded Flash Player to 13.0.0.182 version.
After upgrading I starting receiving the error message "Plug-in Failure" in every page I opened with video broadcasting, such as Youtube for instances, and no videos would be displayed anymore.
I already reinstalled Flash Player, rebooted my machine, have all plug-ins enabled in Safari Preferences, but no success whatsoever.
Think the solution could be downgrading to the early version of Flash Player, but have no idea how to do that now, since the Adobe site only allows me to UPgrade and not DOWNgrade.
Could anyone help me with this?
    Many Thanks...

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.

  • I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4

I have been trying for days to upgrade Flash Player on my Mac (Mac OS 10.8.3, Safari 6.0.4, current Flash Player version 11.6.602.180), but each time that I download the installer and run it, there is a "General installation error" soon after starting the "Installing" phase.
Each time, the installer completes the "Creating Install" and "Downloading" phases, but soon after starting the "Installing" phase, an error occurs "Error: General installation error" and Safari is opened tohttp://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=30&type=inst all&appid=500
Is it unusual for another "Install Adobe Flash Player" app to open?  When the "Installing" phase begins, a second flash installer box icon appears in the dock, but then closes immediately and then the first installer shows the "Error: General installation error" page.

    Try this installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac/install_flash_playe r_11_osx.dmg

  • Upgraded flash player, now it won't work (Win7 64bit, IE9)

I upgraded Flash Player last night, and now it won't work, period.  I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling ad nauseum, but to no avail.  Based on some of the troubleshooting information, it looks like it's not appearing in IE's list of add-ons, but I don't know how to fix it so that it does - the install insists it's successful every time.
    Anyone know what's going on?

If I go to the versions page, it wants me to install Adobe Flash (again), regardless of how many times I've run the installation before.

  • Cannot upgrade Flash Player via Safari - help!

    Good evening Mac Bods.
My PowerMac G5 2.5Ghz is running OS 10.3.7 Panther with Safari. I cannot watch any Flash videos (You Tube etc) and wanted to upgrade from Flash Player 7 to Flash Player 9 but after I use the uninstall, all new installations fail - message says "Verification failed". How do I fix this please? Any ideas gratefully received.

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

  • Flash Player 10 and IDE CS4 problems

Well, first I installed the new flash CS4 to test and made a
simple webpage with no code. I added a button and a Motion tween
animation that makes a box to go from a point to another. 35 frames
total, and a 'stop():' at the end of the timeline. The stop(); is
    the only code.
Then I publish and test on the browser IE7, and I also open
the Task Manager. Ok, and the problem is: even with the animation
stoped at the frame 35, IE7 with the flash running is eating 4k of
memory from time(seconds) to time. 4k only for just one motion
tween that go increasing over time is not good. But if I remove the
layer with the motion tween, the 4k memory usage increasing stops.
Another problem is: if I add a component button on the a
scene, it works ok. But if I add another scene, add one instance of
the button component, and try to edit its label parameter, it will
give an error message when I run the movie. This one:
TypeError: Error #1009: It is not possible to access a
property or method of a reference of a null object.
    at
    testeCS4_fla::MainTimeline/__setProp___id1__Scene2_Layer1_0()
    at testeCS4_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
But the only thing that I change is its label text, using the
    component inspector parameteres panel.
    One more:
The script generated by Flash IDE when we publish to a
webpage, to detect the flash player version is not detecting flash
player 10, even if we have it already installed. Because it only
search for: ("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.7"); and it should be
    testing also for ("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.10");

Make sure the agent working the detection case knows about this
thread, and don't hesitate to ask them to escalate to a senior
agent. We'll get it figured out.
(And to answer your question, all I did was publish from
CS4.. you can look at my detection code source on my site. )
To try to help you out, I put a bunch of alerts inside of the
    javascript on this page:
    http://www.bentimagemedia.com/escalations/fptendetection/flashplayerversion10.html
That should give us a better idea of what the code is doing
    when you view it.
I'm also wondering if perhaps this might not be a language
problem of some kind. If you have some friends who have the same
language OS that would let you test on their machine perhaps we'd
    see similar results?
Ok. I have 3 computers at my home where I was testing this,
and I was getting the same problem and I had installed flash player
version 10,0,12,36 at the same time os all 3 computers.
But I found the problem. When we install flash player 10, it
will add a new key inside the registry saying this:
"ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.10", and it will also change
    the value of the
    "ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash/CurVer" key to:
    "ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.10" also.
But looking at my registry ( you can see here also:
    http://server6.theimagehosting.com/image.php?img=flashProblem.jpg&album=0&fullsize=1
), after installing the flash player 10, the value of "CurVer" was
still saying "ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.9" for some reason. So,
I guess it was a installation failure that happened at the same
time on all the 3 computers that I use.
So, the problem is now fixed because I unistalled flash from
all computers and installed it again. Now the registry is right
    ("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash/CurVer" key has:
"ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash.10" ), and the detection code is
working and showing the right version.
So, the problem is fixed, but 2 questions remains:
1- How did flash player failed to right the right value when
    installing?
2- How the Adobe FlashPlayer instalation version ( at Adobe's
) was detecting the right version insalled and all other codes were
    not?
    Anyway, thanks for you help.
Now, there is that very important problem of flash motion
    tween eating memory.

  • Can't install/upgrade Flash Player

Installed Safari 3 Public Beta. Strange Flash player behavior. Tried upgrading, didn't work. Tried uninstall. Now Flash Player will not install, not even with manual install.
    Any ideas?

For whatever reason, my permissions were no longer correct after installing 10.4.10 and Safari 3. Used Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then successfully re-installed Flash Player.

  • How to upgrade Flash Player in Windows 8.1 Pro

I have windows 8.1 pro with IE 11 and the news video won't be able to play online. The error message is "Sorry, Clip not found...Media not found". It gives only an option to click 'OK' and the screen stays black. I am sure the video is OK, because I can run it on Windows 7.
I contacted Microsoft Support and they suggested I upgrade my flash player. My flash player version is 13.0.0.206 and the lasts is 13.0.0.214. I tried to upgrade and it says "Flash player is integrated in Windows 8" and no option to install it.
I also tried uninstall Flash player with Uninstall Flash Player tool but it did not uninstall Flash even though the message said 'uninstalled successfully'.
In brief, how do I correct 'Sorry, clip not found. Media not found' when I play online video? This is a news video, not movie or youtube and how do I upgrade Flash on Windows 8.1 with IE 11.
    Thank You.

    Hi Texan,
Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x systems and you can only update Flash Player for IE by updating Internet Explorer.  Microsoft releases Internet Explorer updates whenever there is a Flash Player update (usually monthly).  To update your version of Internet Explorer go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Windows Update > Check for Updates.  Since you don't have the latest version of Flash Player, it should find the 'Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8.1 (KB2957151)' released May 13, 2014.  Alternatively, the URL for this specific download is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2957151.
If you also have other non-IE browsers, you can install/update Flash Player by going to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer using the non-IE browser and the page will present you with the appropriate version for the OS and browser.

  • Problems Upgrading Flash Player

Hey so I saw someone else is having the same problem with their facebook flash player.  I keep installing the Flash Player and it is still not recognizing it in Safari.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled and everything and still nothing. I was able to watch the Youtube Videos on youtube.com but now some are saying I need to upgrade my flash player, and I go through the process again that still doesn't work.  Someone help!? Im desperate.

Check Safari > Preferences > Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extensions issue, try Safari in another user account. Same problems there can be an indication there's a problem with the startup disk.
If that is the case, from your admin account launch Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
If the startup disk appears to be ok, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches thay may help. A Safe Mode boot takes longer than a normal boot so be patient. Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left in the screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
    Launch Safari. Try a video.
