Upgrade from 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.4 for 32 bit

Hi all,
I have to upgrade the db from 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.4. Can I get any documentation for that. Any good links may also help.

Here are the broad steps
1. Install 10.2.0.1 for your OS - http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=11
2. Apply the 10.2.0.4 patch (download from MOS and follow the README instrcutions)
3. Upgrade the database using the link provided above.
10.2 is now in extended support - is there a reason you cannot upgrade to 11gr2 ?

I want to upgrade production & physcical standby datbase from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4
I am following below steps to upgrade production database from 10.2.0.3. to 10.2.0.4

Oracle patch installation of 10.2.0.4 throgh Xmanager
Start the database in the UPGRADE mode:
SQL> STARTUP UPGRADE
Set the system to spool results to a log file for later analysis:

Run the Pre-Upgrade Information Tool:
SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/utlu102i.sql
Turn off the spooling of script results to the log file:

Windows 10 upgrade from 7 Pro: No internet and cannot manually install drivers for adapters...

PC: HP Proboook 4510SPrevious OS: Windows 7 Pro 32-bitNew OS: Windows 10 Pro 32 bit Issue: I upgraded to windows 10 from 7 pro and some of my internal devices dont have drivers. I could fix this issue quickly if two of them were not my ethernet card and wireless adapter. Right now I only have 2 adapters listed under network adapters and both are virtual VM ethernet cards. Neither of these can establish a connection through a router I know is working on other laptops in my house. The error I get is that the IP address cannot be resolved. The odd part is that when I look at the details for the VM ethernet cards it shows a good DHCP IP and subnet....TX/RX is no good though as it only shows sending packets and not recieving them. I tried to manually install the windows 7 drivers from a USB stick. I got them off of HP's website. I installed them but it did nothing. However, I was having no luck and restarted and they momentarily showed up in the adapters list (under network settings in control panel). Then as soon as I tried to enable them they went away and I still have no internet. Not sure what is going on or what to do. If I cannot install the HP drivers and get them to work, and I cannot connect to the internet to let windows fix the problem I seem to be stuck.. Please Help.

Hello , I understand that your secondary DVD drive is not recognizable as an optical device on your desktop computer after upgrading to Windows 10. I would be happy to assist you in this matter! When you examine the installed drives in the BIOS, does the 2nd DVD drive appear? What brand are the two DVD drives? What is the product number for your computer? Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on HP PCs - Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 8). This should help to install any possible updates required to run the secondary DVD drive. Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. Upgrading from OX 10.3.9 to OX 10.5.4 for FCP Studio 2

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but here goes. I have G5 running OX 10.3.9 and Final Cut Pro 4. Recently purchased Mac Box with OX 10.5.4 and Final Cut Express. I like the Leopard OX and decided to take the plunge and upgrade my G5 to the latest software packages. I upgrade my G5 memory to 8 GB in anticipation of upgrading to OX 10.5.4 and Final Cut Studio Pro. Ok, here's my dumb question.
If I purchase the FCPS2 upgrade package, do I first need to install FCP4 onto my new OX 10.5.4 operating system (I plan to do a clean install, erasing the hard drive (leaving my second hard drive alone which has all of my FCP source files.)
If I do have to first install FCP4 then the upgrade, (and here's the real question) is FCP4 compatible with OX 10.5.4. Or, can I skip loading the FCP4 and install just the upgrade. (sorry for the long complicated question, but I don't want to screw it up and risk losing my source clips that I have already loaded onto my second hard drive).

No. Just install the upgrade, then enter your FCP 4 serial number when prompted.
FCP 4.5 is NOT compatible with OS 10.5 or later versions of QT.

Getting Ora-04030 after upgrading from 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.1 for same quey

We recently migrated our database from 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.1
The qurey (hefty one wth about 1000+ parameter list in where clause) runs fine in 9.2.0.6
but returns ORA-04030 Out of process memory Error in 10.2.0.1
I have tried to keep all the init.ora paramters same except in 10.2.0.1 I have enabled dynamic Shared memory management.
Any ideas /clues or advice

Upgrade from 10.2.0.3. to 10.2.0.4 for a databse in Linux Machine

Hi all,
I would like to updgrade a database existing in a Linux machine from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.04 .
I could not find the files for the same in OTN.
Could some one point me a location for getting the files.
Also Im not familiar with the Linux commands.Could someone let me know how it can be done.

You must connect to Metalink/My Oracle Support using a valid login linked to your Customer Support Identifier (CSI) contract , identify the patch set number and download it from Metalink/My Oracle Support site. The patch set is delivered with some documentation describing how to apply the patch set.

Can't open Aperture 3.2.4 after upgrade from 10.6.8 to 10.9

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and everything looks fine, except for the fact that I can't open Aperture anymore. The dock icon is crossed out and when I click on it, I get the message "You can't open the application "Aperture" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.
I am running Aperture 3.2.4 which was the latest supported version under Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I was under the impression that I could upgrade to the latest version of Aperture under the new operating system....
--> What does that mean? My Mac was able to upgrade to the latest operating system but the applications are not??

I tested this:
Reinstalled Aperture 3.1 from the Trial Installer.
In some way it seems to be working. But the whole thing is a scary Chimera.
It can create an Aperture library. I can import and edit images, even in Graphic Converter ias an external editor.
But the Media Browser does not show the aperture Library that I created.
The versioning is inconsistent. The library appears as an Aperture 3.4 library in the Finder. Aperture 3.5 seems to be able to read this library and to upgrade it to 3.5
The Applications folder is showing the application as version 3.4 and as compatible. Spotlight is showing it as illegal.
When opening the chimera Aperture, I see plenty of warnings in the Console window:
An Aperture "Hang" report
xpcproxy assertion failed
com.apple.IconServiceAgent: main failed to composite image
quicklookd: Warning
and more ... the hang was critical. I had to force quit Aperture more than once.
So be careful. I would not trust any important Aperture library to this patched application, without testing thoroughly. Be careful with your precious photos.

PC crash... getinng back an InDesign CS6 version, which was an upgrade from a CS3 product... looks like the serial number I have is for the initial CS3

I had InDesign CS3... which I upgraded in 2012 to CS6... two days ago my PC crashed... and I need to reload InDesign... I downloaded from Adobe.com InDesign CS6... but when entering my serial number, I got a message saying that my serial n° is valid but that there is no eligible product on my PC... I suspect that my serial n° is related to the initial C3 version I had bought... I guess that I could download CS3 from Adobe.com... and use my serial number... but how I do get back my CS6 upgrade? OK, here is the situation:
* I am an Adobe customer
* I bought in 2008 CSInDesign CS3 and I have the serial n° [removed by moderator] in my Adobe account (shows as Adobe InDesign, version = CS3, platform = Win)
* In 2012, I upgraded my CS3 to CS6 and I have a serial n° [removed by moderator] for that in my Adobe account (shows as Adobe InDesign, version = 8.0, platform = Win)
After my PC crash, I downloaded InDesign CS6 and use my serial n° of 2012. It doesn't work, as it says my product is not eligible.
So, here is where I stand now...
* I downloaded CS3 and used my serial n° for InDesign CS3. It works. I now have CS3 on my PC
* How do I get back my 'upgrade from CS3 to CS6?
* I have the serial number for that upgrage and I guess I need to download an "upgrade" file somewhere from Adobe. But I cannot find it, I found pages with upgrades, but there are so many different files, I do not have a clue which one to use;
This is now my key question... can someone give me the link to access the file(s) I have to download to upgrade my InDesign CS3 version to InDesign CS6

With our Windows 8.1 systems, the things I noticed as improvements over Windows 7 were:Faster shutdown without frequent hanging apps preventing and delaying PC shutdown and reboot.Better Windows Update experience.Better/faster file transfer/copy with much less issues of slow and failed file copies of large folders and long paths.Desktop search works better/faster.Hyper-V built into the OS can be useful for some people, but may need to be blocked to not facilitate rogue unmanaged VMs on the network.Bitlocker included in Windows 8.1 Pro, but requires Enterprise in Windows 7.May be more stable with in general.
That's all I noticed and can think of off hand.I assume Windows 10 will have at least all the same benefits of Windows 8, but with a more familiar Start Menu. Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 would require paying for new...

Thinking bout upgrading from imovie

So im thinking about upgrading from imovie. What do you think some good reasons for doing so are. Im wanting to be able to have mulitple movie tracks. Also, are there better transitions and effects in FCE? Is there a way to do a Four Corner type PIP with different video in each corner? Let me know what the big selling points were for you.

That's depend of your projects and needs.
FCE is the swiss army knive of video editing and iMovie is the fisher-price.
FCE needs many much more time to master, it's less automated, it had less "canned" transitions, it's a totally different way of editing than iMovie, but you can build almost anything you want... if you master it.
A good hammer is nothing without a good carpenter and an hammer is too much heavy to plant a needle.
Be prepare to follow a steep learning curve, but you'll get reward if you persist.
FCE is the Final Cut Pro's little brother: once your master it, you will be at home in FCP if you upgrade.
Yes you can do 4 corners PIP if you want, and remember that in FCE there are many ways to achieve one goal.
This forum is full of switchers from iMovie to FCE and generally they stay with FCE after the switch.

Easy upgrade from OS 10.4.11 to OS 10.6.3?

Is it possible to upgrade from 10.4.11 with install cd OS 10.6.3? I have read that you have to start with 10.6 and also need to progress to 10.6.2 before you can upgrade to 10.6.3. Is this true? I tried the installation and it rejected it. Should I erase my HD and install from scratch?

I just performed this upgrade myself, 10.4.11 to 10.6.3 - however, I upgraded my hardware before running Migration Assistant. Whatever you do, don't use Migration Assistant.
After booting and configuring, the installation process asked me if I wanted to migrate my data. It was on an external firewire, bootable drive. I then installed the software updates, but when it rebooted it sat at the gray screen for over 45 minutes. Once I found the cmd-V to look at the boot message I spotted the bootstapper had crashed. I tried re-installing the OS but it wouldn't boot. I had to erase the drive and begin again from scratch.
I decided to install and update the OS first, then run Migration Assistant. Everything was working fine. But, after I ran Migration Assistant it wouldn't boot. I had to erase the drive and begin again from scratch.
I erased the drive and re-installed the OS. This time I told Migration Assistant to only copy my home account and applications over. But, after I ran Migration Assistant it wouldn't boot. I had to erase the drive an begin again from scratch.
This time, I did not run Migration Assistant. I copied selected preference files and applications, one by one. It's working fine.
The moral of the story: Do not use Migration Assistant to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard. You could be in for a world of hurt.
