Upgrade from 8.1 - Installation stuck at 30% - Revert possible?

Hi All,
I started my W10 installation last night and it has been going for about 11 hours. It has however got stuck at 30% as reported by many other users on the 'Applying PC Settings' stage. I wondered if I was to do a hard reset would it revert back to 8.1 or
am I better off just leaving it to see if it completes?
Thanks

If the installation fails to complete you will revert to the previous install. In your case, 8.1.
I should point out though that if left for long enough the update is likely to complete on it's own. My record updating times are ~20 hrs for Win 10 to Win 10 and ~28 hours for Win 7 to Win 10, especially on older hardware. Doing a fresh install is *much*
faster and I would recommend that where possible. In general, the new updater in use for Windows 10 is very poor, easily the most disappointing aspect of the entire build.

Any way to successfully upgrade with this DVD?
DVD information: It is the grey disk(s) bundled with purchase of the 13-inch MBP. It reads "13-inch MacBook Pro, Mac OS X Install DVD, Mac OS version 10.5.7, Disc version 1.1".

In general you can't install Mac OS X from a "system disc" that came with one Mac onto a different model of Mac. You'll need a standard "retail" OS X installer.

  • Future upgrading from current MBP express card 34 capability to54 possible?

My MBP arrived this morning and (my bad) I just noticed lack of FW800 port. I came here to discussions before tearing the seal on the protective envelope in case I might need to return based on your answers:
From reading here, I see people saying express card is better than FW800, but saying 34 is bad, 54 is good/wave of the future.
If I keep this MBP, will I be able to have the internal 34 upgraded to 54, or is the physical slot opening in the body unable to do this, making this MPB already obsolete?
And assuming that there is eventually an expressCard34 adapter eventually made for FW800 (current links provided on the board only led to expressCard54 adapters to FW800), will I be getting FW800 speed (or faster)?
Sorry if these are dumb questions.
    MBP, PowerBookG4, etc   Mac OS X (10.4)

ExpressCard 54 cards are wider than 34's (hence the name), so no, the slot on a MacBook can't support them. It's possible someone will come out with an adapter with some kind of a dongle that plugs into the 34 slot, but it would be cumbersome to use.
When a FW800 ExpressCard 34 comes out, it should be full FW800 speed, since the ExpressCard bus speed exceeds the speed of FW800. But you'll have to check the individual card vendors to see what they provide on their products.

  • Upgrade from CRM 5.0 to 7.0 not possible ?

    Hello CRM-experts,
yesterday I was on presentation of CRM IC-helpdesk, and the mentor
explained that there is no upgrade-strategy from sap for the crm 5.0 to 7.0.
Is that true ?  Ins't it possible to upgrade my crm 5.0 SP11 to crm 7.0 ? (included with mobile sales ?)
We use crm-online (quotations, orders) and mobile sales .
    Thanks for response,
    Gerd

    Gerd,
That is wrong about the upgrade path, your SAP rep and Kai mis-understand what no-direct CRM upgrade path means.
    Here is the deal:
If you are using CRM 5.0 with the SAP GUI/PCUI/IC webclient based applications then your upgrade migration is the following:
    1.  Technical upgrade of CRM 5 to CRM 7.0
    2.  Manual conversion of SAP GUI/PCUI/IC webclient enhancements from CRM 5 to the CRM 7.0 webclient UI.  This only applies to the UI enhancements, and most of your backend BADI's provided they did not violate any CRM enhancement concepts will still work.
If you review the PAM at http://service.sap.com/pam or read the upgrade guide on service marketplace you will see this is the case.  It even states on the PAM that CRM 5.0 is a source release for the upgrade to CRM 7.0.  There is no need to go to CRM 2007(6.0) first.
Honestly there is not a "huge difference" between CRM 2007 & CRM 7.0 except that CRM 7.0 is a refinement of CRM 2007.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Upgrade from Tiger Unlimited to Leopard 10 User License Possible?

    Hello:
I have a Intel Xserve that came with an unlimited user license for Tiger. We have less than 10 afp users, so the 10 user license is sufficient. Does anyone know if I can purchase the 10 user version of Leopard and "upgrade" to that?

  • ITunes 6.0.3.5 Upgrade from 6.0.2 Sucessful!!!

If you have iTunes 6.02 working now upgrading to iTunes 6.03.5 is easy!! Just download "iTunesSetup.exe" from Apple.com and install it "ON TOP" over just "OVERWRITE" the old installation (meaning DON'T uninstall the old version of iTunes and QuickTime Player 7.04.) No problems opening iTunes afterwards. Good job Apple software engineers!! That was a good and fast fix!!
I am not sure if a clean uninstall and re-install of iTunes is needed now for everyone. How is everyone else getting along with upgrading to iTunes 6.03?

PS- There is a "extra" folder in "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information" with only 1 file in it (instead of 2- "setup.inx" & "Setup.ilg.") Just "Setup.ilg" is in this old "{501BADCD-F8F7-44CB-AC3F-6ED25C1A28B5}" folder from the iTunes 6.02 setup. Maybe we can remove this one?

The iTunes 6.0.3.5 Upgrade from a "clean" installation of iTunes 6.0.2 above (on a clean install of WIndows XP Pro SP2 itself with no previous Apple softeware before this iTunes 6.0.2 and QuickTime Player 7.04 were EVER installed) left a file called "NewShortcut4_8C3BCD70236347B8A53EEE8A82FD5C78.exe" in "C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{501BADCD-F8F7-44CB-AC3F-6ED25C1A28B5}" besides the other file "Setup.ilg" left from iTunes 6.0.2 setup.

  • Upgrading from CS4 Design Standard to CS5.5 Design Standard

Hopefully a simple question. I am currently running CS4 Design Standard and wish to upgrade to CS5.5 Design Standard. My version of CS4 itself was an upgrade from the full installation version software of CS2 (I managed to skip the CS3 stage using a previous Adobe upgrade deal). Am I right in thinking that although the CS4 was an upgrade package it is now my 'standard platform' so to speak, and therefore I can use upgrade software again to take me up to CS5.5? I have the serial number for the CS4 software.
    Thanks,
    Richard

That is correct. Make sure you get the right upgrade…there are several.

Does anyone have any good incite on upgrading from SRM 4.0 to SRM 5.0 possibly(6.0)? We are preparing to upgrade to ECC 6.0 and I want to know for:

2 - What are the possible benefits/pitfalls of the upgrade in both SRM 5.0 and 6.0?

In EBP 5.0, you have more flexibility in case of the WF's.e.g. in the SC Approval WF's ,you can have the n-step dynamic header level as well as the Item level approval Workflow in addition to the Standard 1 step,2 step and no approval Workflows

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5.5. did not go smoothly, now stuck at CS5 - how do I fix the installation?

    Hi There,
I had a lot of issues upgrading from CS4 (Adobe Application Manager crashing, installer not opnening etc) but managed to get the installer to run by using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of CS4.
However, when the installer finished, it stated there were errors and now the installers won't run - nor can I run updates from the CS apps that did install.
I've normally never had any issues upgrading, so am not sure why I had so many issues and the best way forward from here - Hoping I don't have to remove all the CS5 apps, use the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool again and start from the begining.
I'm trying to install Master Collection CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.7.2
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

Have had to hang up as I was calling the US using a New Zealand Mobile while in Portugal (long story) - and the 11 minute wait time would've cost the same amount as the CS5.5 upgrade!
I had to call the US because:
The New Zealand support number listed on the Adobe site doesn't work
New Zealand is not listed as a country Adobe suppoprt will call back from the "Schedule a callback" page
    What a joke.
I used the Adobe Support Adviser app to analyze the install error log and it provided me with a very helpful link to a support page that states "You can ignore this error and launch the products you were installing."
    Unfortunately, nothing was installed.
I need to do work while a long way from home and can't use/install any CS5 apps - does anyone know how to install CS5 in Lion?
    Cheers

What OS is on the Install/Restore DVD that came wit your G5? If Tiger 10.4.x, you will need a black, retail Leopard install DVD. There is no free download of Leopard, only free updates once you have installed the base OS.
First use your Mac's Install/Restore DVD to install an OS & apps. Then upgrade the OS.
Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*.

I can't say personally since I never used AW, but see if these articles help:

I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. If you need help creating your clone, let us know.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
