Upgrade from 8.2 to 8.6 for new ASA 5515X

Hello,
My customer has a rather complex configuration on an ASA 5510 running version 8.2
They are migrating to new ASA 5515X models which of course only version support 8.6
How can i convert the configuration from 8.2 to 8.6 since the new ASA's do not support the earlier versions?
The X series seems to be a great option for new deployments but what about replacements of existing older models?
Thanks for any ideas everyone!
Chris

Hello,
I would say go to 8.4 From there you will have the same syntax.
There will be new commands and features on 8.6... That for sure but you are going to be on the same path.
Any other question..Sure ..Just remember to rate all of the helpul posts

My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos? Or will the next time I back up lose all those previously backed up as it is a 'new' set of data?
I just want to find the easiest and safest way of not losing all my photos while being able to take more than my iPhones storage worth as it is already full - can someone help me please? I thought icloud was the solution to not uploading my photos to the mac but I'm not sure if the way it's going is working and don't want to delete photos or lose my phone and then find out what I'm doing isn't actually storing my photos permanently. Thanks

    Hey EmilyEliza,
As you are clearly aware, it is important for you to have backups of your important data, including all of these photos you are currently keeping on your iPhone. While it is possible to use iTunes or iCloud to do backups of your iPhone, the problem becomes how to access those backups if you have deleted the photos from your iPhone. Once you have done the backup and then removed the photos from the iPhone, the only way to access the photos is by restoring the backups to the phone. See this article for information about backups made from the iPhone -
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you want to easily access the photos once they are off of the iPhone, another approach to this would be to import your photos from the iPhone into an application on your Mac, such as iPhoto. To learn how to do this, use the steps in this article -
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
Once those photos are on your computer, it is still important to back up those photos to somewhere else, so you can be sure of their safety before removing them from the iPhone. Your Mac’s Time Machine application is one method of doing this -
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new movies, will they be permanently lost or stored somewhere?

Problem:  I don't have enough storage to download new movies.  If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new content, will they be lost or stored somewhere?

It depends upon what country that you are in (it's not possible to re-download films in all countries), the film studio (some don't allow re-downloading), and whether they remain in the store (studios occasionally remove them from the store) - what you can currently re-download will show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad.
But you are better off first copying them to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take you own backup copy of them before deleting them, rather than relying on being able to redownload them in the future (and the same applies to other downloaded content)

Deleted items from Ipod Nano to make room for new. Emptied trash. Still getting error message when I try to copy items from ITunes to Ipod. What should I do now?

If you delete songs (and other items) from the main iTunes library, yes, you need to empty the Trash because iTunes puts the song files into the Trash.  When deleting items from an iPod, the items are not being deleted from the main iTunes library, so nothing should end up in the Trash.
Hopefully, you are not deleting items from your main iTunes library, just to sync those deletions from the iPod.  If you are, there is a better way.  You can post back if you want more info...

  • Decided to upgrade from an old PowerBook G4, mostly for eyesight issues. Bought a new Mac Mini and hooked it up to an Apple A1267 Cinema Monitor. I cannot even figure out how to turn them on. Help please.

I am exhausted just getting to the point of being allowed to ask my question.  I recently decided to upgrade from an old PowerBook G4 that we have used for years, and am using now.  I bought a new Mac Mini and a reconditioned Apple A1267 Monitor that was working beautifully when hooked to a slightly newer PowerBook in the store.  Both the Mini and the monitor are plugged in, and attached to each other but I feel light a dolt.  I cannot even figure out how to turn them on or even get a power light to come on. Can someone help me?

How is the Mini coonected to the momitor?
Does the power button n the mini not work?

  • I just updated my ipad2 to ios7 0.2 latest update, but when I go to apps store to upgrade I don't see the upgrade button, nor when I go in for new apps I don't see free button to download new apps. Could you please help

I just updated my ipad2 to ios7 0.2 latest update, but when I go to apps store to upgrade I don't see the upgrade button besides each app, nor when I go in for new apps I don't see free button to download new apps. Is there any setting that missed ?  please help...

What do you see instead of update on the apps you are concerned about?
When updating to iOS 7 auto update for apps will be turned on. When an app has an update available your iPad will download and install the update with no input from you. Apps that have been updated by this automatic process but which have not yet been opened will show a blue dot before their name.
A record of updated apps is kept for your convenience. You can see this record by using the App Store app and select Updates, the right most choice in the bottom row.

  • How to upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2.2 New to apple

Hey there guys i was just informed with my new hardware components that i have purchased thaat i need to upgrade to 9.2.2 well since im new maybe someone has a good tutorial or a place to get 9.2.2 and how to install it thank you

    Hi, Major Biggles -
The various OS 9 download updates can only be run when the machine is booted to OS 9. The boot OS need not be the OS 9 on the hard drive that is to be updated.
If you have a separate OS 9 Install CD, such as an original Software Install CD for OS 9 that came with the machine, or a retail OS 9 Install CD which is usable for that machine, try booting the machine to that CD, then run the OS 9 updater that you downloaded from the hard drive. Be sure to select the OS on the hard drive as the destination in the installer.
Otherwise, try booting using the Mac OS All extension set. You can choose that in Extensions Manager control panel, then restart to make it so.
If you have anything set to auto-run at startup, meaning any items in the Startup Items folder in System Filder, try removing those temporarily before restarting in the Mac OS All extension set.
The idea is to get the machine set up with nothing in use but standard OS software, specifically nothing running in the background.

  • Uninstall v5.5 upgrade from v4 and reinstall v5.5 on new PC

I am working on v5.5 which was enabled via an upgrade CD from v4. I have the serial numbers of both v4 and v5.5.
Could someone confirm the following is the right way to transfer Captivate v5.5 upgrade from v4 to a new lap top.
    1. On old lap top (connected to the internet) go to Help/Deactivate and select "Deactivate Permanently"
    2. On new lap top start v5.5 installation (see question below)
    3. When requested enter upgrade v5.5 serial number, then v4 serial number
Any idea where v5.5 download link is located?
    Thank you as always...
    Noel

    Thanks Rod,
I have just had information from TCS Support who have provided me with a link to v6 download page from where I can access two files for v5.5 and after saving both files I am advised v5.5 will start installing on my new PC.
I just hope it is as easy as the message makes it out to be....

  • Move configure from old ASA to new ASA 5515x?

    Dear All,
Could you let me know how can i move my configuration from ASA 5510 v.8.0 to the new ASA 5515-x V9.1.1?
i used copy running to TFTP and apply to the new ASA but it has some error like nat and Certificate.
could i export my certificate the old ASA and import to the new ASA, that are different version. Does has any solution without donwtime ?
    Best Regards,
    Rechard

    Rechard
I do not believe that there is a way to do the transition from old ASA running 8.0 to new ASA running 9.1 without some downtime. But is is possible to minimize the downtime. I have recently done a transition like that and it was not an easy one. As you have discovered if you attempt to copy the old config to the new ASA it will reject as invalid syntax much of the access lists and all of the nat.
The easier way to do the transition is to have an ASA running the old code with the old config and to upgrade that ASA to 9.1. In this process the 9.1 code should read the config from startup and will do a conversion to the new syntax. I have done this going from 8.0 to 8.4 and see no reason why 9.1 would be different. You then only need to check the accuracy of the conversion. And then you can take the converted config and load it on the new ASA. In my recent conversion we did not have an extra ASA with old code, the new ASA does not support the old version, and the downtime to do this on the existing ASA was not acceptable. So I took the access lists and nat and did a manual translation from old to new. I loaded the modified config on the new ASA and did some checking. We then just switched connections from old ASA to new ASA and the downtime was minimal.

  • Help needed upgrading from 4.1 to 6.2 for transfer to new Pre

I have a Sony Clie PEG-SJ22 that I sync on two computers using Palm Desktop 4.1.0 on each.  The version on the computer in front of me lives in D:\Program Files\Sony Handheld.  I just bought a Palm Pre and learned that in order to sync my data to it, I would have to first upgrade to Palm Desktop 6.2.  I downloaded the 6.2 installation file and ran it.  It recognized that Palm Desktop was already installed and prompted me to click "Yes" to upgrade it which I did.  However the installation froze with the progress bar about 3/4 of the way through.  I End-Tasked the installation, but now I can't run either the new version or the old one.  (In fact the new version seems to have disappeared from \Program Files.)  When I try to run the old version I get error messages about missing dll files.  Before I try re-installing (or anything else) what should I do to make this go properly?  Is there a problem because my old version of Palm Desktop was a Sony-Clie-branded version?  Or is it something else?
    Thanks

Thanks WyreNut for your quick reply,
I'm able to restore my system prior to trying to installing the update so that I don't lose anything with my current Desktop 4.2. I might be in a catch-22 as that, if I do a clean uninstall of v4.1 and install the v6.2, will I be able to hotsync my Sony Clie TH55 since it's not a Palm product but uses the Palm Desktop to sync???
Any other ideas will be appreciated...
    Thanks
I did a search of the Forum for "6.2 and Clie" and found several threads.  None were very promising.

  • Should I upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite or go for a new install of Yosemite?

I just asked this, got an answer, but it shows as restricted. I can't access my question, so I'll repost. Dammit!
    Macbook Pro 15.4” Retina, October 2012, 500g, 8g RAM.

In anticipation of the release of Yosemite, I have been ready to back everything up, screenshot all of my apps, print them so I can pick and choose after the install from where I have acquired everything. I am on a business scenario, not a typical home user. I use five external hard drives, so I can get it sussed.

I am a Windows convert, I still Bootcamp Win 7 because of some Sony video software I need to use for business. Upper end Photoshop user. I will be installing Final Cut Pro X as a replacement for the video apps when everything settles. I have researched and see that my BluRay production will take a hit because I will have a learning curve and there seems to be a bug with Final Cut Pro X and BluRay production. I'm sure it will be resolved by the time I am ready to switch. No biggy. I will be cutting the Microsoft cord when that takes place. I'm just giddy over it. Seriously.

What I want to know, and this is a very noob question, is, I want to erase and format my hard drive to accept Yosemite when it hits the release date. I want to go with a clean install rather than an update.

To all of you seasoned and dyed in the wool Apple people, if you were two years into Apple as I am, would you install Yosemite, when it is released, as a stand-alone, fresh install instead an update install? I know it will wipe everything, but I want to build from the ground up as an OS install. Start over, as it sounds.

Do you people think it an imprudent act to wipe everything and start over or a better idea to update with the Yosemite release over/on top of Mavericks?

I know there will be bugs. I dealt with the Mail bug in Mavericks, then they fixed it. I know there will be issues, there always are.

    Does it even matter?

Thanks for your attention and for looking,

I had thought the fall release of Yosemite would be a release candidate (baked.) Am I wrong? I know it's hard to know.
Through my years as a Windows user, I always waited at least a year after their OS releases before jumping on them.
There is no good answer anymore. All of the responses you have had in this thread are excellent. But Apple keeps changing the plan. I say wait until the 2nd minor release of Yosemite. The first 10.10.1 will be a bug fix release, probably within 3 weeks. The second will be a security update two weeks later. That is the point where it will probably be safe to install. You'll have a good 8 months of usage before having to worry about upgrading again. Also, this strategy applies to all releases, not just major ones. Apple doesn't do "bug fixes" like you may have been used to in the past. Builds 10.10.1, 10.10.2, etc. will be designed not to break any public interfaces, but that is as far as it goes. Otherwise, Apple is liable to change anything. The old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" simply doesn't apply anymore. Wait a week or two after each incremental update to see if there are big changes. Since you are a heavy Photoshop user, always check the Adobe forums before updating the OS.

  • Upgrading from K9A2 to AM3: What board for Win2k?

I know that anything having to do with Digital Rights Management won't work with Win2k, but I was wondering which AM3 socket board would offer "pretty good" support for Win2k in terms of drivers.
In some instances there's simply no Win2k driver download available, and I don't know if the installer immediately barfs on Win2k systems, or if you could unpack drivers individually so that ALMOST everything would work.
I'm using Windows 2000 Server to access all four cores ...
Note:  I'm not a gamer and not heavy into multi-media stuff, so more basic audio/video operation would be OK.

Quote from: Fredrik on 10-March-11, 23:22:11
Isn't it better to trim your current system for what W2000 likes best, office work and networking maybe, and have a separate system for media handling, gaming and such? I imagine this would amount to less money and work and difficulties.
My problem at the moment is just locating any AM3 mainboard with ANY chipset drivers for Win2k.
I hate activation / "phoning home" to M$, so I've avoided upgrading to XP.
I know that XP Pro would give me support for the cores I have and most any chipset. It looks like I could go that route pretty cheaply, but I don't know how ugly it would be to put a non-server OS over top of a server installation, even though I'm just using Win2k Server as a fast workstation.
I've also considered crossing over to some flavor of Linux and running windows apps under WINE (whatever). I've had very modest Linux experience years ago, and don't know how much of a nightmare that change would be.
I like the idea of having a 64-bit OS some day, but I've always been afraid that any newer version of Windows would be so bloated compared to the older ones that any added performance gains would be more than offset by the snails pace of the OS / "new and improved" apps ...
I've loved Win2k because it was the first version of the OS where USB support REALLY worked, and the kernel was relatively light and fast compared to what followed.
Thinking about getting everything to work all over again on a new platform makes me CRINGE, and I've been at this for decades!
