Upgrade from a single license to a family pack...?

Is it possible to upgrade a single user license for iWork 09 to a family pack? Sorry for posting here, there is no forum under iWork it seems. Thanks for any help.

I think the point of his question is, He wants to remove single user copy from his Mac, install family copy to all of his Mac's, and then possibly resale his single user copy.
I also would like to possibly do the same thing. When I upgraded to iLife '09, I only owned 1 Macbook, now I own 2 Macbooks and I would like to upgrade to family license. When I upgrade can't I resale my single user copy?
Check your licence agreement. If it doesn't prohibit transferring the (single user) licence, then it would seem reasonable to assume you can do so. Being neither a lawyer nor an Apple representative, my advice remains the same as before: This might be a question best answered at an Apple Store or another authorized reseller.

  • Can I upgrade my single user license to a family pack?

I recenlty purchased a Single User License for tiger, and am now wanting to buy a used computer that has been completely wiped, so it has no operating system or anything. Can I upgrade from the single user so I am not breaking the law, but not pay $200?

  • Single Version vs. Family Pack Version, How to tell which is which?

Other than the box it came in, how can I tell via the software if it is the Single Version or the Family Pack version? (I have iWork '08)

Look at the box for the part number. The marketing part number for the single-user package is MA790Z/A, for the family pack it is MA791Z/A. I do know the family pack box does say it is a family pack. The family pack is 5 licenses within one household. Single-user is one computer, not two computers for one user.

  • Can a CS5 Professional license, upgraded from CS2 Educational license, be transferred?

    As I understand it:
    1. Educational Licenses cannot be transferred
    2. If you upgrade an Educational to a Professional, it replaces the old license (stop me if I'm wrong)
So, I just want to know if the newer, Professional license can be transferred to another person, just like any other professional license?

Once one has a full license (they are not known within Adobe as a professional license), it does not matter whether it was obtained via an upgrade from an academic or educational version or not. The license has the same transfer privileges as if the full product, not an upgrade, was purchased. Once the upgrade is completed and you transfer the license, you may no longer use the original academic or educational license.

  • Upgrading to OS X 10.5 with Family Packs

I would like to update my old PowerPMacs and my Intel iMac to OS X 10.5 Leopard on the following computers:
    eMac 700Mhz running 10.3.9
    12in Powerbook 867Mhz running 10.3.9
    15in Powerbook 1.67Ghz running 10.4.11
20i Intel iMac 2 Ghz CoreDuo running 10.4.11
I know it might be impossible to actually get hold of Leopard nowadays, my eMac and 12inch Powerbook might struggle to run Leopard, and I will want to upgrade the iMac further, but my main question is this. If I see a 'used' copy of a Family Pack for`Leopard, say on eBay, is it safe to buy? Or if it says it has been used on two computers, will I only be able to install it on three of my own?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. The older Macs are running things like Youtube slowly at low res, and Flash video sites are a pain. Plus the 15in Powerbook keeps looking for plugin updates on everything. I know upgrading to Leopard is as far as I can go on the PowerPc Macs, but as the computers can still be used, I would like to get them running as best as possible, even if this circumstance will obviously reoccur as time goes on.
    Mark

I wonder if there would be any point trying to get a Family pack for 10.4 Tiger for the eMac and 12inch Powerbook! lol
I wouldn't think so. Installing Tiger is not going to rejuvenate them.
Is there a link tro the various types of OS X upgrades? I should be trying to get discs that are black with the large'X' across the full disc, correct? The grey discs that come with your Macs are not the ones to get (Install/Recovery)?
Correct, the grey disks are model specfic and they may not load.
The following shows retail disks OS 10.1 10.2 10.3
    -----------------------------  10.4 10.5 10.6
The point to consider is the last one, Snow Leopard (for your intel) was until recently, availble for only $30. It may still be possible to order one if you ring an Apple store.

  • How to upgrade from normal lightroom license to app version

HI I purchased Lightroom just before the app was on the market. How can I upgrade to the app version?
    Thanks to anyone

The only way to get Lightroom Mobile is with a subscription to Lightroom.
    Adobe Lightroom Mobile FAQ
"Lightroom mobile is included as part of the following Creative Cloud membership plans:
    Creative Cloud Photography plan
    Photoshop Photography Program
    Creative Cloud complete plan
Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition
Creative Cloud for teams complete plan
If you have access to Lightroom 5 via your Creative Cloud membership, then you have access to Lightroom mobile.
Since Lightroom mobile is a service, it is available only via membership plans. Lightroom 5 perpetual license does not include access to Lightroom mobile."

  • Upgrade from MCS 7825 - Licensing Issues

I have a MCS 7825 installed at my office.  Since cisco has declared an EOL for the above product, we need to upgrade.  We have been suggested 7816 I4.  I have the following queries.
    1.  Is the 7814 I4 a good replacement for 7825?
    2.  We have some 7912 IP Phones with us.  Can they be used with 7816 I4.  If so, what are the licenses that we need to buy?
    3.  Is video conferencing possible in 7816 I4.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Depends, if you plan to have more than 2 servers then no.
When using 7815/7816 the only supported deployment is 1+1 and cannot be mixed with other models in a cluster.
If you're going to have only 1 server or 2 tops then you can use.
BUT most importantly, that model only supports 300 users. 7825 supports 1000 users.

  • Migrating from a single shared id to family sharing

We have been an iOS family for many years and we have always used my personal apple id for app store purchases, the same id I use for iCloud, which means my wife and kids all have access to my apple id information.  It's not a crisis but as the kids get older and start to do more things on their own it's time to start to separate our accounts.  Each member of my family has their own apple id which they use for backups, etc.
If I move to Family Sharing what happens to the apps that everyone currently has on their apple devices that are associated with my account?  Will they disappear?  Will this work?  Is it seamless?

Can you keep them? Yes   If there is a problem with them you can delete them and download them as part of the Family Share

  • Upgrading to Family Pack

I purchased a single-install version of iWork '08 thinking I would install it on only one computer but Numbers is so great, I want to install it on my other two machines. Is there a way to "upgrade" my single-install serial number with a Family Pack serial number?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

This question came up quite a few times after family packs were introduced for iWork '05 a few months after the original release. The answer was "no." But there is a 10- or 14-day return policy on unopened software. You could return the single-license & buy a family pack.
I suggest anyone not sure if they will want a single license or family pack to download the iWork '08 trial & use it before you decide.

  • Upgrading from tiger (10.4.11) to snow leopard 10.6

Is buying the box set a MUST to upgrade from tiger to snow leopard?? I just need the update to run a piece of hardware. I don't WANT all that other stuff.

    adrisen wrote:
It does not make a difference where the family pack came from when the owner only has one computer, and they are part of my family.
First you said you had a friend who had the "multi family pack," now you imply this is a family member, so which is it?
Regardless, what matters is that only persons located in *the same household* can use the same Family Pack license. This is clearly stated at the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Family Pack - Apple Store (U.S.) web page & in the Snow Leopard EULA pdf. From the store page:
    *About the Family Pack*
The Family Pack Software License Agreement allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that household. By “household” we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home, or condominium, including students who are primary residents of that household but reside at a separate on-campus location. This license does not extend to business or commercial users.
And this information now has also has some form the gentlemen that I am now dealing with to know repair the computer and put is back to a working order.
I'm sorry but I don't know what this sentence means or how it is supposed to relate to this topic. No Apple tech is going to tell you that you must upgrade to a different version of Snow Leopard to fix anything if you have a legitimately licensed retail copy of that OS -- there is just the one version suitable for those upgrading from Tiger, sold with one of two licenses.

  • IWork 09 Family Pack license

I recently purchased an iWork Family pack for use on my three macs. I would like to allow my niece in college to also use this software. Do I have to mail her the original disk, or is there a work-around, such as a family pack serial number?, She is currently using a trial version of the software.

The license for the family pack says
    C. iWork Family Pack License. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that same household. By "household" we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home or condominium, but shall also extend to student members who are primary residents of that household but residing at a separate on-campus location. The Family Pack License does not extend to business or commercial users. You may not make the Apple Software available over a network.
So, unless your niece lives with you when she is not in college, the license doesn't extend to her. She should be able to buy a discounted single or family pack of iWork at her college bookstore or via the online Apple Store for Education.

  • Upgrade from Photoshop CS6 Student to normal version?

    Hello there,
Last year I bought Photoshop CS6 Student as I was a student back then. Right now I started a business and want to keep using photoshop legally. Is it possible to upgrade  from a student license to a normal license? What is the price of this upgrade? Or can I just use my student version for business purposes? (I guess not)
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Primarily a budgetary concern. At the time, I had $199 to spend on the upgrade. The extra $200 wasn't going to happen before the end of December when the pricing was said to increase so I went ahead and picked up CS6. The 3D capabilities would be nice to have and probably would be helpful in future projects, but the need right now was to get the upgrade to the standard with the (now presumably false) assumption I could upgrade when I had a few more gigs show up.
If it's another $400 to upgrade, it won't be worth it for me. My primary job is programming, I only do side work for photography and some simple design and while it'd be nice to have some basic 3D ability in Photoshop, it's not $600 worth (400 for the upgrade + the $200 I already spent).

  • Upgrade From The $9.99 Photographer's Deal-

If I take advatage of the $9.99 deal and then at some point in the future have temporary need of Illustrator or InDesign or some other Adobe program, will I be able to upgrade to the full Creative Cloud for a month or two until the job is finished and still be able to go back to the $9.99 deal?
I don't often use anything other than Photoshop and Lightroom but I would hate to lock myself out of ever being able to take advantage of the latest features of other Adobe programs…

    Hi danocamera2
    Thanks for your question.
While it's possible to upgrade from a single app membership to complete Creative Cloud, it's not possible to then downgrade from complete to single app.   You could cancel the complete plan & sign up for the single app plan again but the $9.99 Photoshop Photography program is only available until 31 December 2013.
If you feel you would only have a temporary need for other programs you could sign up for a month-to-month membership for these programs as and when required and keep your Photoshop/Lightroom plan.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
    Bev

  • Single User/Family Pack

Desperately awaiting my new iMacs arrival i cant stop looking up new information about it, When i was looking at the Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger page i noticed theres two different kind, a "Single User" and a "Family Pack" Does anyone know wich one the Newest 17" iMac comes with?

newtoimac, Welcome to the discussion area!
None of the Macs ship with either of those packages.
Every Mac ships with a restore disc (or discs) especially for that Mac. That usually contains more than just OS X. It contains extra applications which ship only that model of Mac.
The OS that ships with a Mac is only licensed to install and use on that single Mac.
BTW, this is the discussion area for the original (oldest) iMacs. If you have other questions about your new iMac, you should post them in the Intel iMac discussion area.

  • Can I upgrade from Photoshop CS6 Standard to Extended

From everything I have been able to find out, I would need to pay the full $400 upgrade from my CS4 license even though I already own CS6. Surely there must be a way to go from CS6 to CS6 Extended for less than the cost to go from a previous version to CS6 Extended, but if there is, I cannot find a way how.
    Thanks,
