Hi,
While doing the upgradation of APPV client from AppV 4.6 RTM (v4.6.0.1523 ) to 4.6 SP3 with HF03, do we need to do any kind of consideration. I am concern about will all
the packages created with 4.6, work properly in 4.6 SP3 with HF03?
Packages should work but asking for safer side and also if any link about this is available from Microsoft please provide.

Go Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer and scroll through the logs for System and Applications to see if anything shows up in red as Error or Warning.
Meanwhile, going to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers
in regedit.exe, backing up the whole ConxtentMenuHandlers folder, and then start deleting all of them one by one and continuously testing the right click. Of course import the Context folder after you find it, test once again by right clicking
to make sure you found the problem, and delete the file that caused the problem.

Upgrading from XI/PI7.0 to 7.1 having problems with message mapping

We are in the process over the past week of testing our XI/PI functionality after upgrading our 7.0 XI/PI environment to PI7.1; in particular several maps that were accessible in 7.0 will not open or diaplay in 7.1 complaining of a missing node in the mapping structure. Currently working with SAP on a possible fix but wanted to know if anyone else has done a true migration on top of an existing XI/PI7.0 system and experiencing similar issues (note: the maps can execute in the runtime environment but we can't display the maps source within message mapping; this also does not occur for all maps and there is no clear consistant theme to those that can be displayed and those that can't).
The lattest issue just encountered related to message mapping is that in test mode of a map (that can be displayed) attempting to display the data queue for the mapped elements are blank no data being displayed giving an error noting that the source text of object message mapping: name of the map; has syntax errors, java area import line x, package ibm.com.xi.mapping does not exist/ import ibm.com.xi.mapping UDF:
Has anyone upgraded from PI7.0 to 7.1 and experienced errors with existing maps that worked ok (ans still work in our QX/PRD systems) in their 7.0 envirinment but encountereing strange errors once upgrated to 7.1?

Here is the solution we received from SAP to address the issue, there were several mapping related issues we started havng from maps that worked in our 7.0 system prior to the upgrade to PI 7.1. I will try to encorporate the solutions in this response.
a) From Customer to SAP
1. We are unable to open some massage mapping, it is throwing
exception
2. Number Format functions throw exception.
But following issue is still unresolved:

For some of the mappings, we are unable to display mapping queue. When
we execute, Interface mapping and Massage mapping, it works fine. But
display queue throws exception. Itu2019s not able to recognize libraries
used from dependent software component.

Thank you for your update. I wanted to check with "CopyValue"
function's index. It has to take an input integer and the problem that
found while debugging the opening of your mapping is that the input
was empty thus causing the exception.
I was going to suggest the intended use of "CopyValue" function.
When the input to "copyValue" is a constant, "copyValue" is totally
not necessary. Thus constant can be directly mapped to other function.
When the input is a node with values in context, you can treat one of
values say input[0] to used in mapping by using CopyValue[0].
But please make sure that input[0] will always produce a value.
Note 877964 will describe in detail on Copyvalue usage.

I'm planning an upgrade to SRSS 5.2.3 for my production servers (two x64 Solaris hosts in a FOG) from SRSS 4.2 RTM. Does anyone know whether I can do a straight upgrade to 5.2.3 or do I have to go to 5.2 first and then apply the 5.2.3 upgrade?

Just to confirm that I've managed to successfully upgrade from a test 4.2 SRS with SRWC 2.2 to the new version 5.2.3 (with SRWC 2.4) in one step. Hopefully the production servers will be just as straight-forward!

Upgrade from SCM 5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1 (with NW 7.0 EHP1 SR1)

Hi folks,
we are trying to upgrade our SCM5.1 to SCM 7.0 SR1. There seems to be a problem in the phase, where SAPup is trying to detect the needed CDs / DVDs. SAPup recognizes that "FRP" is used within the system. There appears a dialog to enter the mount points for the DVDs required for the upgrade.
It says <<Enter at least the mount point for the DVD titled "FRP Software DVD">>. All other needed media is accepted, but not the DVD with the FRP-Software.
SAP Note "1300960" explains, that as of SAP Business Suite 2008 onward, no media without a MID.XML file will be accepted for upgrades (e.g. media containing Add-Ons).
I have opended a message to SAP Support, but there is no solution / workaround until now. I cannot skip the phase and therefore it is not possible to launch / continue the entire upgrade.
SAPup Version is "7.10/7, build 31.010 for UNICODE"
Has anyone faced the same problem with no-MID.XML based media?

We just upgraded from SCM 5.0 to 7.0 sp9.
You need not deactivate the DP planning areas before upgrade.
We did not face any issues because of this.

Upgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 - problem with installer

This is doubtless an old problem with maybe with a new twist. I am upgrading from OSX 10.4.11 to OSX 10.5.6. I crossed my fingers hoping all would go well but can't even get the machine to restart and to mount the Installer on the desktop. Hence, evolving from a Tiger to Leopard hasn't been a success.
No matter what I try the machine goes to a grey OS screen with gobblygook on screen and stops. Investigation leads me to understand the gobblygook is a kernel panic, also featuring a Multilanguage screen. I have tried the normal restart procedure with the installer, holding C key down with restart and setting up the CD as the install disk for the restart, all to no avail.
When I eject the install DVD I can recommence using my machine without any apparent ill-effect.
An action plan and suggestions would be welcome.

Leopard requires at least a Mac with an 867MHz or faster PowerPC G4 processor -- see the Minimum System Requirements section of Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.) or just look on the retail box packaging.
According to your profile info, your Mac is an "iMac DV," apparently a 400 MHz PowerPC G3 model. Since that isn't even close to meeting the minimum system requirements for Leopard, & the installer disc itself runs a version of Leopard as well as installing it, it is no surprise that you get a kernel panic when trying to startup from the disc.
IOW, your G3 Mac cannot run any version of OS X beyond Tiger.

Upgrading from old Mac to new- how to sync iPhone with new Mac?

My dad is upgrading from an old iBook to a nice new iMac. He has spent quite a few days tweaking his new iMac and importing old files and folders. The one thing we haven't yet done, though, is iTunes. He has an iBook G3 that he syncs his iPhone with, and he wants to be able to "move" his whole iTunes setup to the new iMac so that it picks up right where the iBook left off, without needing to reset the iPhone.
One thing to keep in mind is that the iBook had a tiny hard drive and thus the music files are actually on an external hard drive. I was wondering how to go about this feat. I read that using Migration Assistant deletes everything off the new Mac, so that's not an option at this point. Thanks for the help!

If you had use Migration Assistant to start with it would have been easier.

Problem upgrading from 1.4.1.02 to 1.4.2 with WInXP

I wish to upgrade from Java 1.4.1.02 to 1.4.2 ((Please ignore my previous garbled posting, and read this instead).
After downloading the Java SDK 1.4.2 Netbeans 3.5 co-bundle I tried to uninstall the old Java SDK 1.4.1.02 from Windows XP professional.
This was entirely unsuccessful (see later for details), so I installed the cobundle anyway.
The co-bundle installed and works OK, but it did not update the Java plugin (found in the control panel). I really want the new plugin working.
I believe that I need to manually uninstall 1.4.1.02, including the Java plugin.
Will I need to uninstall + reinstall 1.4.2 to get the most up to date plugin? And if so, should I do it before manually uninstaling 1.02?
How do I do a manual uninstallation in windows XP?
Details of Remove Program woes:
In the windows Add/Remove programs panel there were 2 entries for the JRE 1.4.1.02. I managed to run the uninstallation of the first 1.4.1.02 JRE in the list, but the other failed. When I rebooted, both were still listed on the Add/Remove Programs. Running uninstallation again produced the same results. One uninstalls, one fails, but both remain on the Programs list. I have tried all combinations: Uninstall 1st by itself, 2nd by itself, both, both in the other order, neither. Same result every time.
I need to remove both of these, and I need to uninstall the Java Plugin (as I want to upgrade the plugin to 1.4.2)

Thanks for the information, but my goal was to replace the horrible java 1.4.1.x plugin (see Windows Control panel) with the supposedly improved 1.4.2 version.
I ended up deleting every file and registry key with java 1.4.1.02, which let me install the updated plugin successfully - but using the sdk install, not the netbeans co-bundle.
The icon for the old plug-in is still there in control panel (but is not attached to any program). Still haven't worked out how to get rid of it - I figure if it's not in the registry, I'm not likely to ever work it out myself.

Upgrading from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 issue with GUI

I've been trying to upgrade 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 multiple times now on my MBP and gets to the same error every single time.
10.6.7 runs like a charm - no issues no nothing.
I download 10.6.8 v1.1 combo pack and try to install it, it runs and want to restart. Once it boots all I get is either a screen switching/flickering between the apple logo or an orange screen. At this time I'm able to access the shared folders from another mac on my network and check the logfiles that it's done with its upgrade.
Here I notice the windowserver.log doesn't look like it used to do only stating :

I'm able to access it via SSH as well, if the setting is ticked in sharing option, and can see that WindowServer is using 100% cpu on the MBP.
Anyone got any idea on how to get it up and running again and get me to 10.6.8?
Yes I have reset PRAM, SMC, erase and install, etc. Every time I'm able to get the MBP to 10.6.7 without any issues. I've even tried to install the latest CUDA drivers for the nvidia cards which didn't make any difference.
When I start it in verbose mode the last line is:

Anything would help...

I can add it's the same with upgrading to Lion... So I guess they changed some driver code between 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 and its not compatible with my logic board.

The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a machine supposedly limited to 4 GB.

Oracle Linux is derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which does not support upgrading between major versions. Red Hat does not support in-place upgrades between any major versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. In-place upgrades across major releases do not preserve all system settings, services or custom configurations.

How do I upgrade from OS 10.5.8 to OS 10.6 with broken dvd drive?

Hi I have a MacBook from 2010 and I still have OS 10.5.8 on it but most applications won't work now (like I can't download a new itunes) because my OS is so outdated. I want to put the next OS on it but my DVD drive is broken. Is there a way I can get and install a new OS on it?

In theory it is possible to use the DVD drive on another Mac. The 2 Macs must be on the same local network, then you need to use a 3rd party control panel called "Secrets"

and then use Secrets to enable "Show Remote Disc" on the Mac that has a broken DVD drive.
On the Mac that has a working DVD drive you use System Preferences -> Sharing to enable DVD sharing (if you do not have that option, it can be enabled via Secrets).

Upgrading from OSX 10.58 to 10.6 - any problems with previously installed software anyone?

I was wondering if anyone had had any problems with their current software after installing 10.6? (I'm asking because I have a substantial investment in the Adobe Creative Suites and don't want to lose it.) Has anyone had any problems after installing 10.6? Thank you in advance for any replies.

I would check the Adobe web site to see if it will be compatible. If there is an issue you may consider a partitioned HDD and run the two OSs each on separate partitions.

It's a cumulative upgrade so you don't need to install all of the release sequential. Latest is enough.
Did you also import the management packs as mentioned in the guide?

How to tell if Yosemite is clean install or upgrade from previous version

My brand new MacBook Pro arrived last week, with Yosemite already installed on it.
Having issues with WiFi (after coming out of sleep mode, mbp keeps its self-assigned address rather than getting an address though DHCP or using its old address), I was searching for support on the matter, and one of the solutions often suggested was doing a clean install of Yosemite if the mbp was upgraded from 10.9.
Seeing that the mbp arrived with Yosemite pre-installed, I'm guessing that it is a clean install, but I'm not sure.
I wonder if there is a way in telling if the OS was upgraded to the current major version, or if it's a clean install? Even if Apple only ships clean installs, it would be helpful to know if I need to give support to one of the mac-users in our company if it's a clean install or not.

On my system, the Yosemite upgrade (performed on Oct. 23) left quite a bit of residue that would not be present after a clean install. The most obvious examples are in /var/db/receipts, which contains BOM files for all of the software installed via the Mac OS installer, e.g.,
