Upgrade from CE 7.2 to Portal 7.3 or higher

Hi Experts,
We are planning to upgrade portal from CE7.2 to 7.31 or higher.
First of all I want to know which will be the best version to upgrade from CE7.2 ?
From SAP installation and upgrade guide I can see this will be a simple EHP upgrade if we goes for 7.3 EHP1 .
Now I wan to know after upgrade what will be the effect/issues on below mentioned custom application areas.
1. Portal Branding (theme)
2. CAF components (EJB)
3. Portal custom DB table.
4. BPM applications
5. Service Registry
6. Web services
Please let me know your inputs on this.
Thanks & Regards,
Sambaran Chakraborty

Hi,
Of course upgrade from CE 7.11 to CE 7.2 IS POSSIBLE. We are doing this in our landscape.
Please refer to the following guide:
Update Guide CE 7.2 (Update from CE 7.1/CE 7.1 EHP1) - SP<nn>
from:
service.sap.com/instguidesnwce72 --> Update --> SP<nn>.
Only this one guide is sufficient. This upgrade is just like SPS update.

Shitij

Can you upgrade from Os x 10.4 to 10.5 or higher?

Because you have a Core Duo model you are limited to Snow Leopard. You already have the maximum RAM for your model. All you need do is purchase the Snow Leopard DVD from Apple's Online Store - $29.00.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

  • I need to upgrade from Mac OS Xv 10.0.4 to a higher OS X but need help!!!

Need to know if there a Mac OS Xv 10.0.5 or anything that will upgrade from Mac OS Xv 10.0.4.
How can I keep Mac OS 9 & upgrade Mac OS X?
    Please let me know?
Please tell me as soon as you done reading this post.
    Thank You!

Mac OS X 10.0.4 was the last update for the 10.0 (Cheetah) release. There was a free update to 10.1 (Puma), but that was distributed via CD at the time, for the "early adopters" who bravely installed Mac OS X 10.0, and that can get you up to 10.1.5 with additional downloadable updaters. But I do not think the 10.1 update it is available as a free download, so you cannot go beyond 10.0.4 without obtaining a Mac OS X installer disk for a higher release.
How can I keep Mac OS 9 & upgrade Mac OS X?
Unless you intentionally select the "erase and install" option in the Mac OS X installer, your previous data (including a Mac OS 9 installation) should be retained on the drive.

  • Upgrading from 10.6.8 to 10.7.0 (or higher)

Had to reinstall Snow Leopard OS on my iMac which brought me to 10.6.8. However, I need 10.7.0 (or higher) to reinstall a few of my applications. How would I go about this?

If you previously bought either Lion or Mt Lion it/they will be in your Purchases area of the Mac App Store once you sign in with the same Apple ID you used to buy either or both versions originally.
If you haven't purchased Lion or Mt Lion you can still buy either from the online Apple store or upgrade to Mavericks for free. Again Mavericks will be in the Mac App Store.

  • Mac OS X upgrade from V. 10.5.8 to 10.7 or higher ?

    how can I upgrade my iMac (8.1 2008 or 2009 model) from Mac OS X V. 10.5.8 to 10.7 or higher ?
I bought a new printer which I want to connect which requires 10.7 or higher.
    thx !!

You will have to start by purchasing Snow Leopard from the online Apple Store, in order to be able to access the Mac App Store and download later systems. Make sure that your computer meets the requirements for Snow Leopard before purchasing - (Intel processor, 5GB free disk space, 1 GB RAM). Snow Leopard is $19.99.
You can then upgrade your Mac to Lion, Mountain Lion or Yosemite, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Yosemite are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
With Lion and Mountain Lion you get a code which you can use in the Mac App Store (in Applications) to download. Yosemite is available directly in the Mac App Store.(Mavericks is no longer available.)
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • How do I upgrade from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6 or higher?

While installing a new HP printer I found out that it did not work on 10.5.8, so I need to upgrade. But all the upgrades require existing 10.6 or higher - which i do not have. What to do?

From Snow Leopard you can then upgrade to Mountain Lion, if you wish, but check out the tech specs and any older apps you use will continue to work. Snow Leopard is the last version of OS that supports Rosetta, enabling older PPC apps to run.

    Background of Upgrade*
Following errors were reported during upgrades but we continued upgrade since they could not be fixed. There are several Invalid objects in the DB that starts with OKC but they still remain even after I tried to recompile them through 'adadmin' or through SQL prompt or 'frmcmp' command (as stated below).
    frmcmp module=%AU_TOP%/resource/OKEKAULN.pll userid=APPS/APPS output_file=%AU_TOP%/resource/OKEKAULN.plx module_type=library batch=no compile_all=special
I beleive OKC schema is related to 'Oracle Contracts' module.
The following Oracle Forms objects did not generate successfully:

Thanks for replying. I have already applied the mega patch 9239090 to upgrade to 12.1.3. The metalink notes you have given refers to patches released prior to patch 9239090. How to check whether the new patch will not overwrite the one I have already applied and will not conflict with it? Will it be automatically taken care by 'adpatch' utility?adpatch should take care of that and it should not overwrite any file if the file version you have is higher than the one delivered by the patch.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Steps to upgrade from Weblogic Portal 8.1 to Webcenter Portal 11.1.1.6

Currently I'm involved in consulting for a client who has Weblogic Portal (WLP) 8.1. I'm trying to find documentation for upgrade from WLP 8.1 to Webcenter 11.1.1.6.
I found the below link but the starting point for upgrade is Oracle WebCenter 10g (10.1.3)

I'm not clear if I should migrate from WLP 8.1 to WLP 10.3.x and then to Webcenter or direct migration from WLP 8.1 to Webcenter is possible ?
Any pointers / links / case study would be helpful.
Thanks for the helping soul in advance.

Thank you jiri for the quick response.
Regarding your comment 'upgrade from WLP 8.1 to WLP 10.3.5 is not for free', I did some search and found that the documentation is available for upgrading from 8.1 to 10.3.4 as below :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14253/upgrade_process.htm
Also when I went to the 10.3.5 documentation library (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35968_01/index.htm), I found the below link (where the upgrade process points 8.1 to 10.3.4 instead of 8.1 to *10.3.5*)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14253/toc.htm
My understanding (after reading the documentation + your comment) is that we can upgrade from 8.1 to 10.3.4 but to upgrade to 10.3.5 we need to pay Oracle. Could you point me to a link which has that information ?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Portal Upgrade from EP6.0sp10 to EP6.0sp18

    Hi All,
I am totally new to portal upgrade.we have current version of portal as follows:
    portal version is: 6.0.10.2.0
    KMC version is   : 6.0.10.1.0 (NW04 SPS10 Patch 1)
    Trex Version     : 6.1.10.01
    1. I am little confuse about whats the difference between Upgrading from EP6.0sp10 to "<b>EP6.0sp18/ NW04sp18</b>".Is the process for doing above is  same or different.
    2. I heard from SAP that TREX must  be upgraded first before KMC and Portal. Is it true? whats is reason for that
?what should be latest SP and patch for TREX?any documents?
    3. Is there any specific sequence to upgrade like TREX->WAS>portal>KMC?
    4. What about customisations objects, will that be seriously affected after upgrade? How to prevent that?
can anybody give the Basic knowledge of upgrade and process flow.
Thanks in Advance.Help will be greatly appreciated.
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
EP6 SP18 ist the actual Service Pack for Enterprise Portal. NW04 SPS(!) 18 is the complete Service Pack Stack for the NetWeaver platform. So if you want SP18 for your portal installation, you should get the whole NetWeaver platform in use for that to SPS18 (as you wrote, for EP this is normally WAS, EP, KM, TREX, eventually NWDS).
TREX normally has the same counting as the rest, but in fact at the moment there is no SP18 for TREX, but it is renumbered again. The actual version reads TREX 6.1 Patch 26.
Sequence is WAS -> portal -> KMC -> TREX. Anyhow, you should not await a stable version if using mixed SPs, especially if mixing 10 with 18 So get all in line and then restart working with your installation.
As you normally shouldn't have customized standard objects but copied them into your own namespace and worked on these, there shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't gone this way, with such an update you will learn how urgent it is to keep this in mind --- never change standard objects...
    Hope it helps

  • Portal Upgrade from Nw04 6.0 to Nw04s 7.0

    Hi all,
I’m trying to perform the portal upgrade from version 6.0 Nw04 SP 19 to version 7.0 Nw04s.
During the preparation I obtain the following error:
#Java###The software component com.wilytech.jmxservice/wilytech.com could not be read from the BC_COMPVERS table; the table schema may be outdated. Fix it and then repeat the phase from the beginning.##
I have implemented note n 873624 in order to align the keyname and the keyvendor in sap manifest.mf but with no luck, the detect start release component fails with the same error.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks and regards

  • Weblogic Portal ( Server ) upgrade from 10.0 MP1 to 10.3.5

    HI,
We are currently attempting to upgrade WebLogic Portal Server in development environment and having problems when i run the installer. ( WLS1035_upgrade_generic.jar ).
I'm attempting this upgrade in Windows 7 professional environment ( 64 bit )  and it is a Windows VM with in a MAC OS X.
Problem  : At the screen where it asks to Choose Middleware Home Type  ---> click next   --->  it shows error message saying Product is not Installed.
Environment   :    Upgrade of WebLogic 10.0 MP1 portal server ( JDK 1.5_30 )  on a Windows Virtual Machine running using Parallels Desktop software
    Existing attempts  :
I went through the forums and tried
    -  Oracle's Minimum Technical Requirements says that i need to have JDK 1.6_24 and have installed JDK  1.6.0_35. ( jdk-6u35-windows-x64.exe ) .
I'm currently  running the setup from command prompt using this version of Java.
    -  Tried using BEA WebLogic smart upgrade. But it is not recognising our Oracle Support Login  credentials. I tried doing this in offline mode having the above .jar and .zip  file patch in the correct directory but its not recognising.
Weblogic home directory is c:\bea and it has got all the directories inside it  -   i don't understand the reason why installer is not able to identify the existing WLS installation.
I would appreciate help around this as i'm not sure what else to try ?
    Cheers,

I am not sure what you are doing is supported. You cannot upgrade a 10.0 to a 10.3.5 the way you are trying. The updater may be used to upgrade froma 10.3.x to 10.3.5 i believe. Check this out Upgrading WebLogic Server 9.x or 10.0 Application Environments to 10.3.5

  • Upgrading from BEA Weblogic portal 8.1.5 to BEA Weblogic Portal 10.3

We are upgrading from BEA Weblogic portal 8.1.5 to BEA Weblogic Portal 10.3. We just took over the project from some other vendor since last 9 months. At some of the places in the code, we are using internal APIs of Weblogic Server which should not have been used at the first place.
As weblogic has changed the version and internal structure as well as the classes also, We are facing problems in terms of compilation of the code itself.
The class "ServletRequestImpl" is giving us issues.
Has anybody faced the similar issues, if yes, please let me know.

    Andy-
Since the Struts portlet support requires that struts app be converted to a module,
alternate message resources need to be accessed by modifying the bundle name by
appending the module name, since Struts doesn't automatically propogate the alternate
resources from the ServletContext to the Request when a module is selected.
For instance, in suppose your struts application module is /struts/myExample.
To access the alternate bundle from within that module, you'll need to specify
    the bundle as alternate/struts/myExample.

    Hi,
I'm trying to get the struts-example webapp from Struts 1.1 RC1 working
    under
Weblogic Portal 8.1 with the JSR 168 and Struts support patch.
I am having problems with the message bundle properties files ApplicationResources.properties
and AlternateApplicationResources.properties as neither of these files
    are being
    picked up.
These files are located in org/apache/struts/webapp/example in WEB-INF/src
    and
    WEB-INF/classes of my webapp (i.e. <WEBAPP>/WEB-INF - my struts-example
    resides
in <WEBAPP>/struts-example). I've also tried adding <init-param>'s to
    the <WEB-APP>/WEB-INF/web.xml
file for the action servlet as follows:
    <servlet> <servlet-name>action</servlet-name> ... <init-param> <param-name>application</param-name>
    <param-value>org.apache.struts.webapp.example.ApplicationResources</param-value>
    </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>alternate</param-name> <param-value>org.apache.struts.webapp.example.AlternateApplicationResources</param-value>
    </init-param> </servlet>
When I use the logon action as the starting action for the portlet, I
    get:
Error opening /struts-example/logon.jsp. The source of this error is
    javax.servlet.ServletException:
Cannot find message resources under key alternate at weblogic.servlet.jsp.PageContextImpl.handlePageException...
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I upgrade from Portal 4.0 to Portal 8.1?

I want to make sure that what I believe is really true.
Is it ture that in order to upgrade from Portal 4.0 to Portal 8.1, I must first
    upgrade to Portal 7.0?

    Mike,
The upgrade tools provided by BEA are from one release back, which means they
work against WLP7, so if you are going to use these upgrade tools you would need
to go from WLP4 to WLP7 and then to 8.1.
