Upgrade from CS4 Extended Education to CS6

Two questions here. I purchased the educational version of CS4 Extended back when I was in school. No longer in school, I wish to upgrade to CS6 non-educational. First question: Can I upgrade using my educational licence to a non-educational one? Second question: Can I upgrade from CS4 Extended to CS6 Standard? I have no need of the extras with Extended.
Thanks.

Yes and yes. refer to the buying guide on the product pages.

  • Upgrade from CS4 extended to CS5

I have Photoshop CS4 extended. Purchased the upgrade to CS5, loaded the disc, ran the installation , all seemed Ok.
However my current version of CS4 is still displayed - Is there a diffenece in the updrade discs you need to purchase?
Won't be too happy as I ordere d by phone and I explained what I had ? . Not a happy bunny with Adobe at the moment.
And try caling support at the weekend - aaagh !

The correct forum for this question is http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop and from there pick your platform. But wish you to know that I have PSCS3, PSCS4 and PSCS5 still installed on my comp. Updates don't override the previous version.

  • Can I upgrade from CS4 extended to CS5

I dont use the extra features in CS4 extended, so it would be better value for me to upgrade to just CS5 - is this allowed?

    yes, of course you can...

  • Upgrade from CS4 Master Education to CS5 Master Education

    Hi,
I just bought the CS4 Master Student Edition in February 2010 and I didn't realize that there was going to be a new version so soon.  If I wanted to upgrade to the CS5 Master Student Edition would it just be the commercial upgrade price or is there a student discount on an upgrade?  (I know that the there's a big discount already, but I just thought to ask first.)  The upgrade looks like it's amazing and I'd love to be able to use the new edition for my remaining college courses but I'm not sure if I'd be able to squeeze out $900 after we just bought CS4 this year so if there was a discount that would be awesome!
    Thank you so much,
    Katie

There are no upgrades available between student or educational versions of Adobe products. You can either upgrade to the commercial version of CS5 from your student version of CS4 or you can buy a full CS5 student version (as you noted, the student versions are very highly discounted), whichever is more economically advantageous to you.

  • I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please?

I want to upgrade from Photoshop Extended CS5 to PS Extended CS6 Mac (I do NOT want CC) but have been unable to find this at a sensible price (or sometimes at all). Help, anyone please? This is in UK, btw!

What do you consider a sensible price?  PS CS6 extended is available only when you purchase the CS6 Suite, which is around $1000 for the upgrade from CS5.  PS 6, which is not extended, is about $200, but I'm not sure about upgrading to a single app from a suite.  Adobe used to allow it, but I'm not sure about now.  PS CC and Lightroom 5 combo is $9.99 a month or PS CC alone for $19.99 or the whole CC suite for $29 a month.  The latest CC apps are "extended."

  • Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012?

Is it still possible to upgrade from CS4 to CS6 after the upgrade offer ended in 2012?  I have not found the option to do so.

My family owns and operates a non-franchise entertainment facility (miniature golf, laser tag, arcade, pizza, parties...).  I have a design background, so among the many things I do here I'm also able to create marketing materials and an online presence in-house which would be too expensive for us to outsource.  Over a five year period, that's given us a software cost of right at $1 per day since our CS3 license ran around $1800.  Our customers are the public, and the package we try to push for walk-in traffic costs $50 for four people.  In exchange, they get unlimited mini golf, a game of laser tag, and a large pizza.  Not a bad deal.  If we were to earn $1800 from that group of four every five years, assuming they spent $50 each visit, that'd bring them here close to two times every three months.  For our type of business in a city of 118,000 tight-fisted Germans, that's about right.
What, are you trying make me feel GUILTY about being upset that Adobe's new strategy negatively affects my livelihood?
As far as Adobe's policy change announcement goes, I have no idea how it was announced.  I DO know I was not sent an email notification, though they have my email address and record that I'm a CS3 owner.  Presumably it was announced somewhere on Adobe's website, and further disseminated through various digital and print trade publications.  I respect Adobe's right to not reverse its decision.  If our business decided to put a sign on the front doors (since we don't have contact info for all of our past customers) saying we'd closed that night at 5 PM instead of 11 PM as usual, we aren't obligated to let in latecomers.  But I'd also recognize their right to be mad at us for wasting their travel time.  What I WOULDN'T do is tell them it's THEIR fault for not being proactive and calling ahead to confirm the expectation that our hours are still the same as they've been for the last decade.  NOR would I be surprised if we didn't get their $50 that month.  These Germans tend to hold grudges.

  • MAC UPGRADE FROM CS4 STANDARD TO CS5 STANDARD OR EXTENDED

    Hello,
I'm interested to find out how to MAC UPGRADE FROM CS4 STANDARD TO CS5 STANDARD OR EXTENDED. Its my intention to buy the upgrade not thru
download, but purchasing the dvd's needed eventually used if necessary.
    Thank you

No, forget it. Adobe only sells current versions. How would you even be able to buy a used upgrade that is tied to someone else's previous version? Makes no sense at all and is clearly a breach of the EULA - whoever may sell you this "upgrade" would have to include all his previous versions leading up to that point, making it a completely independent full license that has no relation whatsoever to your CS4. And you would still have to run the license transfer drill.

  • Upgrading from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended

I am sure this has been asked before, but how do I upgrade from CS5 Extended to CS6 Extended? I have looked at various FAQ sites and see that it is abvailable but can not find the link on the Adobe site. I would appreciate any help on this, Thanks

I could find it for you, but the web search would take me as much time as you.

  • Upgrade to CS4 Extended - Pricing

Is it simply an error in the web store or is there no advantage to upgrading from CS3 extended to CS4 extended over just CS3 (or CS2 or CS1) to CS4 Extended. Its all $349 to upgrade to CS4 extended no matter what Photoshop (CS) version you start from. This is just crazy.

i Well, if there is no price benefit to skipping an upgrade, then I wouldn't do it. (As was the case with Quark.) So a tiered pricing scheme would force me to spend more money.
I still have no idea what you are talking about and I have no experience with Quark pricing. I am not talking about skipping new release upgrades. I am talking about feature upgrades. I do have experience with AE when they had two versions, pro and regular. Once you purchased the Pro version the new release versions cost less than a new release + upgrade from standard to pro. I was expecting to see the same strategy for Photoshop Extended as they used to have with After Effects. Furthermore, Adobe's stance on upgrading price from two versions ago being the same as the the past version has not changed in some time and it was not unexpected to me. But the pricing to get from extended to extended is brand new and thus was surprising to me.
On my second machine, I do not have Extended, just CS3. With this scheme that extended cost more every time you upgrade, I will never upgrade to expended. Adobe is telling me that I will have to pay more year after year for extended. This is why I thought it might be a mistake as the incentive is for me to keep using the basic version. I'd expect that after one makes the added expense of extended that new release upgrades from extended to extended would be the same price as regular to regular, or at least less than regular old to extended new. I am not sure why this concept is difficult to grasp. But what it means for me is that going to extended will never happen on my second machine.

  • I want to buy the upgrade from PS cs5 to PS cs6

I want to buy the upgrade from PS cs5 to PS cs6, where can i buy this? and no, i dont want a cloud subscription...

You can still buy upgrades from this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html?promoid=KFPMZ
Click on the Buy link where you can change from Full Version to Upgrade.  You can upgrade from Photoshop CS5 or Extended and it is only available as a download.  I wouldn't buy from a reseller because most of them are taking full advantage of ripping people off by jacking the prices up.  Also, you might not get a working serial number.

  • Upgrade from CS4 to CS5.5. did not go smoothly, now stuck at CS5 - how do I fix the installation?

    Hi There,
I had a lot of issues upgrading from CS4 (Adobe Application Manager crashing, installer not opnening etc) but managed to get the installer to run by using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of CS4.
However, when the installer finished, it stated there were errors and now the installers won't run - nor can I run updates from the CS apps that did install.
I've normally never had any issues upgrading, so am not sure why I had so many issues and the best way forward from here - Hoping I don't have to remove all the CS5 apps, use the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool again and start from the begining.
I'm trying to install Master Collection CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.7.2
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

Have had to hang up as I was calling the US using a New Zealand Mobile while in Portugal (long story) - and the 11 minute wait time would've cost the same amount as the CS5.5 upgrade!
I had to call the US because:
The New Zealand support number listed on the Adobe site doesn't work
New Zealand is not listed as a country Adobe suppoprt will call back from the "Schedule a callback" page
    What a joke.
I used the Adobe Support Adviser app to analyze the install error log and it provided me with a very helpful link to a support page that states "You can ignore this error and launch the products you were installing."
    Unfortunately, nothing was installed.
I need to do work while a long way from home and can't use/install any CS5 apps - does anyone know how to install CS5 in Lion?
    Cheers

  • Multiple problems installing upgrade from CS5 Design Prem. to CS6 Design Prem.

I had started a thread a few days ago regarding problems that I was having while installing my upgrade from CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design Premium.  Everything seemed to install fine with the exception of Acrobat X Pro.  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4716847#4716847
I thought that I had resolved the issue through tech support, but apparently not.  First of all, they had me install the trial version of Acrobat X which actually let me install with no errors. A couple of days passed and Acrobat asked if I would like to continue my trial or enter a serial number. I tried to use my serial that came with my upgrade but it rejected it, so I opted to continue the trial.  Then earlier today as I was working in InDesign, upon launching I got a script error message.
    Error in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CS6\Flash\Flash-12.0.jsx
    Line 153: if( app.name = = flashAppname && (module.name = = 'DefaultScript' II module.name = = 'Flash'))
    Cannot open resource file.
After clicking OK it seemed to open InDesign fine and I was able to open files and go about working. While working I noticed that I had no effects in the dropdown menu under 'Object'. Tried the shortcut for them and nothing happened.  I have yet to try to open any files containing effects (drop shadow or something) but am guessing that they will not work. My next course of action was to try to Uninstall and Re-Install. I removed CS6 and Acrobat X Pro from my computer and ran the Creative Suite Cleaner program. Then instead of installing the upgrade from the DVD, I decided to download the program from the Adobe LWS and give that a go thinking that maybe the download files are more up-to-date than the DVD that I recieved.  Now it seems I am back to square one with the same problems (InDesign missing 'Effects' and who knows what else, and Acrobat X Pro failed to install), but this time I have diffent errors on the "error summary file" that shows up as a link in the "Installation Complete" dialog box. Sorry for being windy, but I really need to get this resolved. Thanks for any and all input.  PC is Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 and is current on it's updates.
