Upgrade from OracleAS 10.1.2.0.0 to OracleAS 10.1.2.0.2

Hi all.
I've been reading the "Oracle® Application Server Upgrade and Compatibility Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) for UNIX Part No. B14090-05".
I'll need to upgrade an OracleAS installation here. I have OracleAS 9.0.4.1.0 installation and a Oracle BI services 10.1.2.0.0 mid-tier. This BI Services release is a Bug civilization, therefore, I need to upgrade it to a "bug free" release.
In the aforementioned document, it states that "You Cannot Upgrade or Expand from Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0) to 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2)".
Is that true? It sounds pretty weird cuz it is possible to upgrade from OAS 9.0.3 to 10g R2. Why wouldn't be possible to perform a simple release upgrade?
I'm aware there's some OracleAS recent releases that do not have Oracle Forms and Reports Services (or something like this...) and this is a good argument for this not being possible.
But still, I couldn't process this statement... Now, I'm really confused
Thanks in advance,
Marcos

The answer is in metalink Note:339992.1.
"Note, however, that while you cannot upgrade or expand your existing 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0) installations to 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2), you can install 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) middle tiers against an existing 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0) Infrastructure. For more information, see "Understanding Version Compatibility"."
Good luck,
Marcos

  • Date Picker on Manual Tabular form not working on 4.1 upgrade from 4.0

    Hi
    my application is upgrade from Apex 4.0 to 4.1 .
    Oracle DB is 11g.
    I have a manual tabular form with a date field:- apex_item.text(12,null,15,15,'class="datepicker3"') as end_date, After upgrade to 4.1 it's not working .
    I changed the code to:- apex_item.date_popup2(12,null,15,15) as end_date, still not working .
    I have to use apex_item.date_popup2 .
    Thanks in advance !!!
    -Amu

    Hi Diana,
    Is this you are trying to achieve:
    piepdate = startdate + typeduration
    The id attribute of the items in normal or APEX_ITEM based tabular form are of the type:
    fxx_xxxx
    For example: f10_0001, f10_0002, ..., f10_0010.
    So, correct the vRow variable accordingly
    >
    // get row
    var vRow = pThis.id.substr(pThis.id.indexOf('_')+1);
    >
    Hope it helps!

  • V('APP_USER) after upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2

    Thread [v(APP_USER) after upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=631780] is equally valid for upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 - I've just spent an afternoon trying to find out why one of my apps stopped working after upgrading to 3.2.
    Briefly, if you have Patrick Wolf's wrapped versions of functions V, DV, and NV, replace "FLOWS_030100.V" with "APEX_030200.V".

    Hi Patrick,
    I am currently looking forward to use these functions in my applications. We are having some performance problems and the replacement of the v function seems to help alot.
    We use the v function in views to get the data dynamically with the Apex applications. I recently found a post you have made showing 2 things you can do to increase performance when using the v function : http://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/caution-when-using-plsql-functions-in-sql-statement/.
    1) (select v('APEX_ITEM') from dual)
    2) replacement for the v function (deterministic)
    Now I wonder, besides the fact that you need to update the functions everytime you upgrade Apex, is there any other downsides of using them ? Should I be using the other method instead ?
    Is there a plan to make that function deterministic in a future release ?
    Thanks
    Patrick

  • Oracle Upgrade from Oracle RAC 9.2.0.6 to Oracle 10.2.0.4

    Hi All,
    Currently, we are running 4 node Oracle RAC environment with below mentioned configuration.
    OS: Sun Solaris 5.9
    Hardware: Sun E2900
    Oracle Version: 9.2.0.6
    Veritas Cluster Server: 4.1
    We want to upgrade Oracle version to 10g, and currently analyzing the options to perform this. The current database size is 1TB appx and we want to spend minimum application shutdown time running on this database.
    As part of upgrade, we also need to upgrade Veritas Cluster Server from 4.1 to 5.1 to support Oracle 10g. It would be great help,, if someone can pass some guideline to perform this task.
    We are currently thinking about piecemeal approach, where we can upgrade each node individually and then put them back to cluster. There are some complexities involved, and its really high risk approach.
    Thanks a lot in advance for help
    Regards,
    Manoj

    Orcale 10g RAC requires you to install Oracle Clusterware. Oracle Supports running it along side a 3rd party clustering software. Not sure why you're so anxious to upgrade Veritas Clusterware when it will be trivial on the 10g db hosts.

    Oracle Upgrade from 10g to 11g [BRANCHED BY MODERATOR]

  • Is it really necessary to Upgrade from Oracle EBS R11i to R12?

    Hi,
    Oracle Applications 11.0.3 (Oracle Financials) was implemented in our company and later in 2006 it was upgraded to 11.5.10 (with new implementation of Supply Chain Management Module - INV,OM and PO) and 2 months ago we upgraded it to 11.5.10.2+DB 11gR2.
    I've been recommending to upgrade to R12 but the Finance Users are reluctant for an upgrade and of the opinion that the R12 has many bugs and there will be issues after upgrade to R12.
    Once of the consultant is of the opinion that its better to re-implement R12 instead of Upgrade. He also tells me that R12 does not have sub-accounting and sub-ledger and trial balance reports in AP.Since I am not a Functional Consultant I could not comment on this.
    Please advice if there are any useful docs which address the upgrade to R12 issues which I can share with our consultant and users.
    I am currently going thru +Upgrade Advisor: Oracle E-Business Suite Financials and Projects Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 and 12.1.2 [ID 256.1]+

    R12.1.x is a stable release that many customers (including Oracle themselves) have upgraded to.

    The Finance modules have been completely re-written and fucntionality had changed for the better. Re-implementation typically costs upto 3 times more than a upgrade. Re-implementation is not necessary if the business model and process have not changed. What are the consultants justifications for doing a re-implementation (other than making more money) ?

  • Upgrading from Oracle 9.1.0.8 to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2)

    Hello everyone;
       We are in the process of looking into  upgrading from our current Oracle 9.1.0.8 to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2): Windows
    We would like to download and install the 10.2.0.1 base release (Oracle Software).   When I go on SAP Marketplace
    https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/oracle-download  and goto the (Software Download) section and click on
    Oracle 10.2 Software (32-bit versions) to download  I receive a error  NO DATA AVAILABLE.
    Is there another area to download the Oracle Software? or do I need to purchase a CD from SAP or can I download this base release straight from Oracle?
    Thanks for your time and have a great day.

    Hello Pellegrino,
    just download it from the SAP container for each product .. for example
    -> Installations and Upgrades - Entry by Application Group -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 -> Windows Server -> ORACLE
    Regards

  • Upgrading from 9.0.1.3 to 11.2.0.4 with Oracle Workspace Manager

    Our client has a (very old) 9.0.1.3 database on Windows 2000
    This database (and other products – but that’s not the main concern right now) needs to be upgraded to 11.2.0.4 in Windows2008R2 (64 bit).
    A complicating factor might be the use of Oracle Workspace Manager – a lot of tables are Workspace Managed.
    We can do it the long way, by upgrading it via 9.1.0.4, 10.2.0.1, 10.2.0.4 -> Export and then, on the new environment, import on 10.2.0.4 en subsequently upgrade it to 10.2.0.5 and then 11.2 (and maybe some more patching afterwards).
    But that takes way too long (downtime).
    So would it be possible to do it the “easy way”:
    Full Database Export of 9.0.1.3, import it into a brand new empty 11.2.0.4 and then upgrade Workspace Manager to 11.2 as well?
    Or should we upgrade OWM to 11.2 in the old environment - and is that possible at all?
    (FYI: Snippet from the OWM manuals : Workspace Manager supports the import and export of version-enabled tables in one of the following two ways: a full database import and export, and a workspace-level import and export through Workspace Manager procedures. No other export modes, such as schema, table, or partition level, are currently supported).
    (On purpose cross-posted in the "Workspace Manager" Forum : Upgrading from 9.0.1.3 to 11.2.0.4 with Oracle Workspace Manager

    The database is not that big (in fact there are two, both around 130Gb).
    Affordable downtime is one weekend. The long way (with all patching and upgrading) takes around 100 hours...
    We did raise an SR, but the answer was ... take the long way home ;-)
    (But, FYI, I didn't raise the SR, so I don't know what question has been asked... If the original question was "how to upgrade", you get the official statement. If you don't ask for other options, you don't get them - so I ask it here...)
    And I've seen that presentation... Thanks anyway.

  • Issues after Upgrade from Oracle 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.5 in Windows Server2003

    Good Morning Good People,
    I have run in to some issues after upgrading my 10.1.0.5 database to 10.2.0.5. Initially after the firtst upgrade from 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.0 one has to run Critical Patch set 4 to get to 10.2.0.5. Well after initial up grade everything worked fine. I could connect to the database from within the server as well as remotely through SQL*PLUS client. However, after completeing the patch I'm still able to connect to the database from within the server, but remotely i get the following error:
    ORA-12514 : TNS Listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor.
    I also get Error ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was: (description=(address=(host=mcquery2)(protocol=tcp)(port=1521))(connect_data=(sid=mcquery)(server=dedicated)))
    I've tried serval different things to trouble shoot the issue but nothing seems to work.
    If anyone has run into s similar issue please help. This is ruining my weekend! LOL!

    Considering upgrading from CF8 up to CF11... notice in the CF11 support matrix that Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.0, 15.5  is not supported.  While we primarily connect to Oracle DB, we do need to connect to Sybase DBs periodically.
    Is the plan for CF11 to support Sybase again in the near future?

    Did you ever get a response? I'm merely trying to connect to a Sybase database - and it gives me a java.sql.SQLException:null  error - with no other information.
    I'm running the server on Ubuntu 14.x, 64bit.
    Thanks.

  • After upgradation from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g,one proc is throwing error

    recently upgraded from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g. We have some Oracle procedures which are not working in Oracle 10g.
    A section of code from one of the procedures looks somewhat like the code below:
    Declare
    Cursor c_matched_records (…..) is
    Select a.field 1, b.field2
    From table1 a, table2 b
    Where a.field3=b.field1
    FOR UPDATE;
    BEGIN
    For records in c_matched_records
    LOOP
    -- Continue processing
    -- Update records
    COMMIT;
    END LOOP;
    END;This section of the code throws out the following error in Oracle 10g
    ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence during PUT outputFile file
    However this code was working fine in Oracle 9i.
    please help me with this?
    Thanks

    I believe you are lucky that the pl/sql is okay in Oracle 9i. How about remove the commit statement? Why do you need it in the loop. I look up metalink. You may refer to article ID 257914.1
