Upgrade from standard resolution to high resolution

Hi there. I'm new to the mac world... I just bought a 17" macbook pro with the standard resolution. I wanted the high resolution screen, but I got way to good of a deal on the one I got.
How would I go about upgrading to the high resolution display? I've found the hi-res LCD panels selling on the internet, but I'm told I can't install the hi-res display in a MBP that was originally equiped with the standard resolution screen.
The computer is still in the sealed box... Would apple allow me to send in my machine and have it replaced with one with a hi-res screen, assuming I would pay the difference?
Thanks in advance!

The best thing to do is to call 1-800-MY-APPLE and see what they say. Good luck!

  • Is there a way to upgrade from standard configuration to workgroup...

    ...without rebuilding the server?

I actually meant can you upgrade the initial standard configuration that you choose at setup to the next option which is workgroup. The next choice after that is advanced. I did figure it out though. If you're in a standard config and you try and open server admin it asks you if you want to convert to the advanced config. There's apparently no way to upgrade from standard to workgroup.
Thanks for the tip about standalone server though!

    In the following documention
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/intro.htm#BABFBJCC
    It talks about
Deinstall the Standard Edition server software.I don't understand what they mean by DeInstall the software.
    Question 1.
By 'DeInstall' , they mean , use DeInstall Products in the Welcome screen of Oracle Universal Installer and Remove the chosen OUI Home.Right?
    Question 2.
If i 'Deinstall' (ie. remove the software), all the binaries are lost. Right? So what is the point of having just the data files?

  • The Process of going from offline to online  (low resolution to high resolu

As a long time editor on other systems I would like to know what is involved in taking a low resolution sequence and converting it to a high resolution one(ie offline to online quality). Please be detailed in your description of the process so I have a point of comparison to other systems Ive worked on. Please
include any issues/gotchas that may be involved in the process.

I can't because I have never done the offline/online process. Not in the traditional sense. But I heard that the move to 5.1 addressed most of the big issues with the Media Manager. Speed changes are still an issue, as I tried to consolidate a project recently that had them and the only problem spots were the speed changes.

  • Upgrade from standard to enterprise on a cluster.

    SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
    Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.
Two node Active/Passive Clustered, lets say NodeA is active and NodeB is passive.
Need to upgrade the edition only from standard to enterprise.
Want to understand if we need to apply the upgrade manually on both the nodes one by one
or Only we apply the upgrade only on the passive node and it will get applied to the active node by itself once we failover to the passive node. Lets say we first run the upgrade from the passive node NodeB and after the setup completes, we manually fail-over
from NodeA to NodeB. Once we fail-over, SQL Server will automatically apply the upgrade on the NodeA which is passive now. Any step by step documentation will be helpful.
**** All the links I checked till now look ambiguous to me *****
    Thankyou.

    Hi
Can't say I've done this but it's documented here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc707783(v=sql.105).aspx
SQL Server in a clustered environment: Running
edition upgrade on one of the nodes of SQL Server cluster is sufficient. This node can be either active or passive, and the engine does not bring the resources offline during the Edition Upgrade. After the edition upgrade it is required to either restart the
SQL Server instance or failover to a different node.
Upgrading the passive and failing over will be sufficient.

  • I'm running 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro and need to update to Java 7 in order to take a software assessment test for a potential job. The Java app will only upgrade from 10.6 or higher. What can I do?

I'm running 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro and need to update to Java 7 to take software assessment tests online for a potential job. What can I do?

Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10
Apple Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 17
    Apple Java 2013-005
I would suggest you upgrade your computer's OS minimally to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Upgrade From Standard Broadband

    Hi
I might be being thick, but all the information for Infinity Broadband seems to be for new customers.
I am an existing phone/broadband/btvision customer, and would be interested in upgrading to infinity, but can't find any information in respect of how to go about it, what it costs etc.
I've checked availability, and it shows Infinity as available now - can anyone please provide me with any information or point me in the right direction ?
    Thanks !

Be careful.  If you are in a lockin period... 18 months etc..  they will charge you a months fee for your broadband for cancelling it within your contract.  They tried this with me but when I pointed out that I had had BB with them since 2005 they backed down and gave it back.  However, it still came out of my bank and it was deducted from my next bill.
Then they charged me 3 times in one month for Infinity......  Again they gave it back but they kept my money for another month.
Their call centres are useless and need to be brought into line with 'Customer Service Needs' not just their pure fiscal needs.  It is worth knowing their profits were up, this year, 42% on last year while sales are down 4%.   Work that one out.  Well I did the maths for you.....  We are all being fleeced to line their and their share holder's pockets to the tune of about 50% while inflation is only 2.76%.  They did this by reducing service, increasing charges, placing hidden charges where there were none and by rudicing service costs by outsoursing parts of the business to Asia.

  • Upgrading from standard to smartphone plan

My daughter has a standard phone under my family plan, with a contract that expires July 2014.  I want to transfer my used iPhone4 to her and upgrade her to a smartphone plan.  Would this reset her contract or will expiration remain at July 2014?

        Hi JimInRSM,
Let's clear any confusion surrounding your calling plan and data options when you activate a Smartphone on your daughter's line. While you have unlimited data on your line, we no longer offer unlimited data plans and activating a Smartphone on her line will require that a data plan be added to her line (see number 2 at link below). If you currently have unlimited data on your line and you upgrade to a new phone for your line at a discounted price with a 2 year contract, you will be required to select a new data option with your new contract. Please visit this link http://vz.to/NcXYGp and review number 2 for data options. You can also, keep your current calling plan and data option if you upgrade at full price as per number 7 at the same link. You may even qualify for our device payment program http://vz.to/ZILXBT so you don't have a big upfront expense when you upgrade at full retail price.

  • Office 2010 In-place upgrade from Standard to Professional Plus

    Hi,
My current customer bought licenses (MAK keys) for both Microsoft Office 2010 Standard and Office 2010 Professional Plus. The majority of the estate will use Office 2010 Standard, with about 10% of the users using Office 2010 Professional Plus.
I'm looking for a way to "upgrade" Microsoft Office 2010 Standard to Office 2010 Professional Plus, so I can deploy Office 2010 Standard as part of the installation baseline. I can successfully upgrade the existing Standard installation to Professional
Plus, but after the installation any of the applications present in Standard show two licenses (one Standard license and one Professional Plus license).
Is it possible to de-register the Office license during installation of Professional Plus or do any of you perhaps have another method to solve this?
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Kind Regards,

    Hi Don,
Thank you, it does help. My OCT is set to "Default Setup behavior; earlier versions of installed programs are removed". This works fine, all programs run successfully etc, the upgrade runs without any problem.
However, the license for Office 2010 Standard is not removed/replaced during installation. Which means that after the upgrade, the applications show that two licenses are required. I am wondering if there is a way to tell during installation to remove previously
installed licenses, to manually remove the license or any other way.
The customer is using KMS, so in terms of activation it's no issue. I am wondering though if it's an issue in licensing itself. Because if we follow this scenario, when Office Pro is deployed, a workstation seems to need two licenses. If this is fine in
licensing terms, I'm okay. If it isn't, I need to find another solutions.
    Thanks again!

  • Replacing MacBook Pro Screen with higher resolution screen?

I bought a MacBook Pro 15" today which has the lower end screen resolution.  I originally wanted the higher resolution screen but the guys in the shop said they didn't sell them in the shops, only online, but since I wanted one before I headed off to France on Monday for two months, I decided to just go for the lower resolution, which I was told would show no real visible difference.
My question is: if I wanted to, would I be able to upgrade the screen to the higher resolution screen at a later date should I decide I was sick of this resolution?  I've only just started the computer for the first time now really, but have noticed that text is not as crisp as it was on my old vaio, which is disappointing, but I'm hoping I'm just being slightly OCD and the comparison will fade in time.

An independent repair shop wouldn't have access to order parts - so your only source is either an Apple Store or an AASP. If you want to try to DIY, you might be able to find the part at www.ifixit.com.

    Hi Ontrack,
    first of all read note

Running any SAP system on a non enterprise edition is not supported.
Since SAP did not deliver the standard edition to you, somebody has installed the SAP system wrong in your corp...
Because of the above, SAP does not provide a supported upgrade way, except a heterogenous system copy. Basically we did not test this scenario, because we don't support it.
Anyhow, Oracle has a way for this:

The following steps need to be taken to convert your SE database to an EE:
        1. Backup the database
        2. De-install the SE software
        3. Install the EE software
        4. If you have an existing database, point your ORACLE_SID to this

        5. Startup the database
        6. Run the "catalog.sql" and "catproc.sql" scripts, as usual.
