Upgrade from W7 Home Professional to W7 Pro fails

I have followed all of the suggested "methods" outlined on this site - but W7 upgrade continues to fail.
1)  Is there a way to get $$ back?
2)  Does Microsoft have someone that can look at the log files to say what is going wrong?  If so, where are the log files?

Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade fails:
If your get the following:  Error: Windows Anytime Upgrade was not successful
This issue can occur if Windows 7 SP1 has been downloaded by Windows Update but has not been installed yet.
See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2660811
=============== Other reasons and possible fixes ====================
Windows Anytime Upgrade Fails with error:
"anytime upgrade failed. Go online to resolve the issue"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2658652
A) If Anytime Upgrade fails: Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx
B) If Internet Explorer is not set as your default web browser,
you need make it so and then try the Anytime Upgrade.
One person's solution was either in unhooking the Internet,
or removing SP1 - or a combination of both. Then re-installing SP1
Save this method for a last resort.
C) Did you get a PIN number with the "Anytime Upgrade", if so enter the pin number here to get a product key:
https://windows.getmicrosoftkey.com/
Support for your product key:
https://windows.getmicrosoftkey.com/Home/Support
D) Shutdown and start your computer again.
1) Run the System Readyness tool - Method #2 (Download and run the tool: "Checksur.exe")
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. The System Update Readiness Tool tries to resolve these inconsistencies.)
2) Disable any security software before attempting to upgrade
3) Disconnect any unneccesarry external devices.
E) If Anytime Upgrade still fails, disable User Account Control:
1. Go to User Accounts in Control Panel
2. Change User Account Control Settings
3. Pull the Slider down to lowest level possible
4. Reboot the computer
5. Try the "Anytime Upgrade" process again
To start the upgrade process:
Click Start/Search and enter the words:   Anytime upgrade
Next in the list of displayed results, click on 'Windows Anytime Upgrade'.
Then follow the anytime upgrade screen prompts.
Basically all you need to do is enter the Windows 7 upgrade product key.
Alternate Method:
Start/Control Panel/Small icons option (located in upper right)/Click on the 'Windows Anytime Upgrade' icon.
F) If it still continues to fail, then try the following 3 Methods:
Method #1
1) Run Chkdsk and see if it helps.
Click Start / Type: CMD, and right click on  'CMD' and select 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk  /f  /r
Restart your system, your computer's hard drive will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them.
2) Run Memory Diagnostics to check for issues with the system hardware. Type Memory in start search and hit Enter to open Open Memory Diagnostics Tool. Click Restart Now and Check Problems. Your computer will restart  & the diagnostic program will
start. Please note any reported errors.
Method #2
1. Click Start, enter: "msconfig" (without the quotes) in box, and then press the 'ENTER' key.
User Account Control permissions: If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under 'Selective Startup', click to clear the 'Load Startup Items' check box.
4. Click the 'Services' tab, click to select the 'Hide All Microsoft Services check box', and then click Disable All.
5. Click 'OK'.
6. When you are prompted, click 'Restart'.
7. After the computer restarts, check whether the problem is resolved.
Method #3
If your key is invalid and you need to change the keys you may have to open regedit and deleting the ProductKey value in the following registry key first:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsAnytimeUpgrade
----------------  Anytime Upgrade may not work for all version of Windows  ---------------------
Note: Retail "Full" or "Upgrade" product keys will work when using the Anytime Upgrade feature.
The Anytime Upgrade "May"  not work (check with the computer manufacture's support team) for users who have OEM and or System Builders product Keys, this also applies to VL (Volume License), MSDN-Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)/ DreamSpark or Academic
product Keys which will not work / support the  Anytime Upgrade option. KMS users should consult with your administrator prior to attempting to perform an Anytime Upgrade.

  • Upgrade from Windows Home Server 2011

Even though Windows Server 2012 Essentials is being mentioned as a replacement for Windows Home Server 2011, there doesn't seem to be any documentation or mention of can you upgrade from Windows Home Server 2011 to Windows Server 2012 Essentials?
Will this work with the beta download and will we then be able to upgrade this version to the RC and/or release version?
As you may guess I have a Windows Home Server 2011 and am interested in looking at Windows Server 2012 Essentials to see what it offers me. The storage spaces sounds exactly what I want to replace the drive extender on the previous home server version. The
problem is that I don't mind sacrificing my present server box by installing the beta but it would be nice if it actually retained what settings it could via an upgrade option, which I could then have a chance of using with a proper release version.

Just clarifying about the 'upgrade path' and 32b vs 64b.
Yes, no in-place upgrade. However, one could theorise about some form of 'migration' being possible, where the list of users, the content of your shares, the current backups, would be 'moved' from old box to new.
I was in fact pretty sure no such process existed. (Wouldn't it be neat though? AND in future _at least theoretically_ possible, using processes similar to SBS AD migration.)
From this perspective putting the new box onto the network is similar to replacing WHSv1 with WHS11, in that nothing is carried over. No gain, but no lesser. Working on currently available information.
The later comment about the work laptop is, TTBOMK, a resounding 'NO'. When attempting to join a member of another AD the 'connect' process stated 'You must 1st remove the PC from the other AD'. I haven't tested this extensively but believe that PC's _capable_
of operating in an AD (Pro, vs Home, versions) will be made members of the WS12E AD. It is only PC's that do not have 'domain join' capability that are left in workgroup mode.
    TTBOMK, AFAICS, so far, etc...

  • Re: Yoga 2 Pro - upgrade from 8.1 to 8.1 pro

A little off topic, but hope you guys can help.
Seems our Yogas are pre-installed with Win 8.1. I need 8.1 pro for powershell and hyper-v.
If I tell it to upgrade, it asks me for £99.99.
So the price to upgrade from 8.1 to 8.1 pro is £100, but to upgrade to 8.1 pro from any other operating system (XP, VIsta or win 7 basic, pro, enterprise, whatever) is £45.
    This is rediculous.
The only way I can see to do it is to wipe the computer, intall XP using an old key I have kicking about, then buy a 8.1 pro upgrade.
    Anyone got any other ideas?

Hi. I was able to enter my the 8.1 key I got from DreamSpark into my Y2P and it accepted it.

  • Need Detailed instructions to install new hard drive & upgrade from Vista Home to Win7 Enterprise

    Hi folks,
    I have this laptop machine:
    Lenovo 3000 G530 4446-23U Laptop Computer - Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3400, 2GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.4" WXGA, Vista Home Basic
I need to install another hard drive and I also want to upgrade to Win7 Enterprise Edition while doing the rebuild.
I am very nervous about doing this as I upgraded a W530 from Win7 basic to Win7 Enterprise and ran into all kinds of drive issues.  And I thought that would be about as straightforward as you could get, but it a far cry from that.
I do not want to have to go through that again - I still don't have everything working on it.
Can someone please tell me the precise steps to take to do this upgrade and how to ensure that I obtain ALL the drivers for EVERYTHING on the laptop and how to ensure that all those drivers are correct and exactly how to install them.
If there are other issues associated with upgrading from Vista Home to Win7 Enterprise, please advise of those and the solutions.
    Thanks very much.....
    Gus

    hi gmercanti,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
The easiest way to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 is to run the Windows 7 Installer inside WIndows. Follow this guide for instructions. After upgrading, you will need to install the Windows 7 Drivers for Lenovo G530 4446 via http://support.lenovo.com.

  • After upgrading from acrobat 9.5 to XI pro my users have complained on slow typing when filling in form that were created in version 9.5?

After upgrading from acrobat 9.5 to XI pro my users have complained on slow typing when filling in form that were created in version 9.5?
The issue is they type but there is 2 second delay when it appears in the field.
    Windows 7 64bit

I see, I misread your reference to Reader 11 to mean you were using Acrobat 11, but it looks like it worked out anyway.
The base-14 fonts are special in PDF because they are guaranteed to be available even if they are not embedded. If you select a non-base-14 font for use with a form field, the entire font usually gets embedded, since each glyph it contains has to be available for use with the field. This can take up a lot of space if you do this a lot, and the space isn't reduced if you change back to a base-14 font later because the internal reference to it is not removed. This is caused by the bug I mentioned.
In your case, however, the entire font doesn't get embedded because fonts like it (e.g., large asian fonts with a lot of glyphs, Arial Unicode) would take up too much space if fully embedded. If it did, a 100KB PDF could bloat to 20MB with that one change. Instead, users are expected to have such fonts installed on their system, which is why you were prompted to install the font pack. This despite the fact that the font was not actually used by anything in your document, it was simply the orphaned reference to it that triggered this. This should get fixed in Acrobat eventually so this type of thing doesn't happen again.

You can write to Apple with the serial number and they can tell you exactly when your MacPro (as opposed to Mac Book Pro) was manufactured.
And in the Apple menu > about this Mac >  more info > there should be sufficient detail to narrow it down.
EDIT.  These are the specs for the      April 2007 version.

  • How To: Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 pro

I upgrades from windows 7 home to windows 7 pro.
I could not use the anytime upgrade option, so I did a full install
I had a problem that I notice is common for many people, I came up missing drivers for my lan and wifi cards among others, I followed the advice given to others, and found chipset drivers and a few others, however, I had loaded some drivers already, so I am coming up missing the ntwork controler and the usb 2.0 crw. I am also missing the drivers for the camera, and special functions on the key board. I believe that the first step I need to take is to throw away some drivers and reinstall the chiipset drivers and others I have read recommended. However, I don't know what to throw out.

If you ask for help here, it's generally best to respond in less than a week to someone who's offered to help you. But, let's assume you were very tied up or away.
Regardless, your model's specifications clearly show that your system originally came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and that it came out in 2013. So, it's difficult to understand why you are upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. Oh, wait, I see your thread title says from Windows XP to Windows 7 pro, but in the text of your original post it says from Win7 Home to Win7 Pro. Again, this is a little confusing.
Regardless, as it's safe to assume you have already wiped out your Toshiba Recovery Partition in doing a clean install of Win 7 Pro. So, let's just try this. Download this Toshiba utility, double click to begin installation.

  • How do I upgrade from Adobe Flash Professional cs5.5 to Adobe Flash Professional cs6?

A couple of months ago, I was told by the live support team of Adobe, that I would be able to upgrade from flash cs5.5 to flash cs6 mac version, then I can change that to the windows version for $100. Now I am ready to upgrade and switch, but I am unable to find the upgrade for the USA, only for Africa. When I go to change the country to USA, it brings my to a cyclical clicking of links that never leads me to the actual flash cs6 purchase page, it only brings me to the purchase page for Flash CC, which I don't want. I am skeptical that the flash cs6 purchase page with Africa as a location was even a legitimate adobe webpage. Here is the page I was brought to by google (google was the only thing able to bring me to the page, I can't find it via adobes website) :  Adobe Store - Adobe Flash Professional CS6 - Upgrade. I don't want to have to download from overseas (Digital River Ireland Ltd.) if this is even legitimate. The fine print said international purchases may incur an extra charge by my bank which I would love to avoid. Someone please help me, my Macbook broke last year and I have had a digital copy of the mac version of flash cs5.5 for a few years which I payed 700 dollars for, and now I have a windows laptop and the mac version of flash cs5.5 is useless to me now unless I can solve this issue! Thanks guys if you are able to help.

If you don't want to go the Cloud route and subscribe then Adobe still sells CS6 (online only) via their website
    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_s l_creativesuite6.html
(make sure you're in the NZ store - check the Country the link above the Copyright at the bottom LHS of the page)
Select your product then click Buy
I want to buy: Select Upgrade from the dropdown menu
    I own: <select your existing CS5.5 product>
    Complete your purchase.
Upgrade cost depends on which CS5.5 suite you own and which CS6 suite you want to upgrade to.

  • Upgrading from Vista Home Premium to 7 Ultimate

I'm upgrading my PC from Vista Home Premium Edition to Window 7 Ultimate Edition, but I have to do a custom (clean) install. Will Photoshop CS4 still work? If so, what's the best way to do this without killing Photoshop? will it allow me to reinstall onto a different OS? I had the same issue when I changed from an XP maching to a Vista Machine - Photoshop wouldn't work at all.

As far as I know you will have to de-activate and uninstall Photoshop before upgrading the OS and then reinstall and re-activate under Win7.
Even if it weren't necessary I'd advise it anyway.
Don't forget to save out any actions, brushes and any other personal extras!

    Hi!
I don't know anything about some SPECIAL version of WinXP for yr notebook, but it is possible just upgrade yr NT upto XP. Besides, WinXP has very powerful drivers database, which covers most of devices. There is only one "but": some special features (functional buttons) can be not available.

I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
the impression that it's being cached somehow.
Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.

    Hello again everybody,
I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE
    FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    DELETE
    FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,

  • Upgrade from 3.0 to 3.0.1 fails

Not sure if is should be concerned but i upgraded to 3.0 then got the email to upgrade to 3.0.1. I followed the instructions unplugging and such that are on apple website. I can download the upgrade. At the end of the download 100% the apple logo flashes (not restart) and goes back to normal. I then check out the ver and it is still 3.0. If i force it to reboot after the download it is still 3.0. I have done this about 10 times with the same result. Mind you I have no problems, yet, with the 3.0 so maybe i should be happy that it won't upgrade.

Sounds very similar to my issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2226287&tstart=60
I still can't get it to upgrade from 2.4 to 3.0.
