Upgrade graphics card on Pavilion desk top

I have a HP Pavilion p7-1517c Desktop PC.  I wish to upgrade my video and purchased an MSi GEFORCE 650Ti Boost and also upgraded my power supply to 750 Watts.  I have no issues with the power supply and it is working wonderfully.  However, when I install the graphics card into the PCIe slot, I get absolutely no input to my monitor.  I connected the 6 pin power cable from the new power supply and plugged my monitor into the correct output on the new graphics card.  The graphcis card is getting power (the fans turn).
I talked to HP Support by phone and they were no help - said it was a third party issue and I should talk to MSi.
Yes, you guessed it, when I talked to MSi, they told me to talk to HP...........
Any ideas??
Thank you.

COLNuckols, welcome to the forum.
The old pointing the finger trick.
I suggest go into the BIOS and disabling Secure Boot.  I am not certain where it is located, but it may be in the Advanced area.  There are not many video cards that are compatible UEFI and Sucure Boot at this point.

  • Upgrading graphics card for Pavilion 500-314 Desktop PC

I am looking to upgrade the graphics card in my HP Pavilion 500-314 Desktop PC. I was looking around and saw some forums that said it would be very difficult to do so with this PC and I have found a few that said it is absolutly possible. Unforunatly none of those forum posts were from this site except one that did not give much explanation, so I figured I would just ask.
The graphics card that comes with this PC is decent enough to run most current games, just not at the level I would prefer. I am not looking for the most cutting edge ultra mega super gamer graphics card, just something this PC can handle that would be an upgrade with 2GB dedicated vram.
Thank you in advance for any help you guys can give me!
PS This will be my first upgrade I have ever done on a PC myself outside of the ram on this same PC, so please try to keep that in mind with any explanation/answer .

Your system has UEFI BIOS, so you'll need to understand Secure Boot. Then read this to change settings.   For gaming, I would go here, and do the "Can I Run It" quiz.  Would recommend a Corsair 600W PSU.

    Hi:
Graphics adapters cannot be upgraded simply.
You would need to replace the motherboard with one that would have better graphics (if one exists for your model).
This would cost as much as buying a new notebook, so it is probably not a good idea to undertake such an endeavor.

    Hi:
Unfortunately in most of today's notebooks (including yours), the graphics cannot be upgraded.
I looked at the service manual for your notebook, and there aren't even any other motherboards with better graphics available.
You can try the latest drivers from AMD to see if that helps, any but you can't do anything with the hardware.

  • What upgrade graphic card do i need for a early 2008 mac pro

I have a early 2008 Mac Pro.  ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB is what i have now.  What is a good upgrade graphic card to get.

The GTX 780 6GB runs fine on the dual PCIe internal power cables -- as does the GTX 680 and Radeon HD 7950. The same can't be said of the GTX TITAN or GTX 780 Ti or Radeon R9 280X -- all of which require an auxiliary power feed to avoid a nasty power down of your tower at the worst moment when too much wattage is demanded of the Mac Pro's factory power supply.
Did I mention that the GTX 780 with 6GB of GDDR5 matches the 6GB of GDDR5 in the TITAN?
The one fallacy to my 'sweet spot' award has to do with OpenCL. In case you hadn't noticed, the AMD Radeon GPUs smoked the NVIDIA GeForce GPUs running Photoshop's OpenCL accelerated Iris Blur filter and rendering LuxMark's OpenCL accelerated Room scene.
So depends on budget, whether you want a PC card for less but no "early EFI boot screen" prior to drivers loading, and what apps and needs you have.
The one thing for sure is that 2600XT should have been retired ages ago and even more so with 10.8.3 and above, it could be trouble or just... PITA/POS.

Okay... first off let me know which operating system are you using and model and version no. of the adapter?? if you are using Win XP system try uninstalling the adapter from the computer...click on start >> programs >> wireless G PCI adapter >> uninstall, put the CD in for the adapter and restart the computer, one window pops up "found new hardware" try installing the drivers, no need to install WLAN software or utility and use windows WZC (wireless zero configuration) to manage wireless connection...check whether it works for you or not and let me know.

  • Upgrading graphic card on HP DC 8300 CMT

    Dear HP,
I try to upgrade graphic card, on HP DC 8300 CMT (Intel® Core™ i7-3770 Processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000 )
with Nvidia Asus GeForce GTX 650 Ti.
As stock power supply doesnt meet requirements, I installed an additional  FSP Group Booster X5 450W.
Once I turn PC on, it reboots 3 times, and eventually it continues to use onboard graphic and windows 7 loads as usual .
like if new graphic card is not present. (not detected by windows)
Bios version is latest and particular option  for disableing integrated graphic is grayed out- not accessible.
Is there any explanation why this happens ?
On DC 8100 sff It automaticaly disabled onboard graphic, altough it was low consumption Radeon HD 7750 Low Profile card, and there was no any problem.
    Regards.

  • Upgrade graphic card for HP Pavilion p6-2105eo

I would like to upgrade the graphic card för HP Pavilion p6-2105eo.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Try one of the below MSI specific model graphics cards.  They may or may not work in your PC but if they do then it's about the best that you can do without also replacing the power supply. These cards come with a switch to allow the card to work with legacy and UEFI mode BIOS PCs.  Know what the return policy is before your PC.

Unfortunately, the GPU is not upgradeable in these units.  You would have to upgrade the entire motherboard package, which would be costly and cause potential reliability issues in the future.  Your best option would be to upgrade to a newer notebook with the GPU and specs you require.
