Upgrade graphics on T43 with Intel Integrated adapter?

Machine type is 1871-4AU.  Can I upgrade the graphics?  If not, is there anything like a list somewhere of the upgrades I can do?  I would also like to add a dvd burner.  I like the machine and have now dumped about a hunded bucks in memory and new keyboard so I figure I might as well upgrade what I can.

To upgrade the graphics you'd have to swap the whole motherboard, not a cost-effective solution.
Fujitsu 120GB hard drives work without giving out a "2010 error". They're available at www.zipzoomfly.com
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

  • WRT300N Router does not working with Intel 4965AGN adapter on Wireless-N

Hi! I have recently bought the laptop Acer 5920G with Intel 4965AGN network adapter and Windows Vista. I have read that WRT300N Router is supporting Draft-N standard, so I purchased it. The router is working fine on Wireless-G 54Mbps (firmware - 2.00.17), but not on Wireless-N. I tried to enter the following settings: ssid - any non-linksys name;  radio band - wide; n-channel - 9; standard channel - 11; beacon interval - 50; Fragmentation threshold - 2306; RTS threshold - 2307, but nothing has happened, connection still remains 54Mbps. How should I configure the router and network adapter to get Wireless-N?

okay... try reflashing/upgrading the firmware on the router, after reflashing the firmware on the router, reset it back to default settings and reconfigure it according to ISP settings...edit the wireless settings again, make sure that "wireless mode" should be mixed...
on the vista computer, click on start >> control panel >> network & sharing center >> manage wireless network and try removing existing wireless networks from profile and manually add wireless n/w profile according to wireless settings of the router...check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know.

  • [SOLVED] Authentication with AP on 3.6.* with Intel Wireless adapter

Edit 06/2014: Solved ages ago via 3.10+
    Kernels tested: 3.6.2-1, 3.6.3-1, 3.6.4-1.
After the latest kernel upgrade my wireless can't authenticate with my AP, wicd-gtk hangs on "authenticating" and then says "bad password".

    Not for me :-(
I have an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205 AGN and the only way get it connecting to my WPA2-AES network was downgrading to linux 3.5. But because I have optimus graphics, this means I can no longer use bumblebee, as it depends on 3.6.
Anyone got a hint for a workaround to get both working?
    Thanks
Does the 11n_disable workaround work for you?
Just upgraded to 3.6.5, I still have the problem on Centrino Wireless 100 N, with some differences: now it seems to authenticate but with very low speeds and the connection isn't stable. I haven't found out much more, I'll try to get more information during the week. Right now I still use the 11n disabled.

  • [UNSOLVED] Graphics Card Issues with Intel 945GSE

I have several issues and im not sure if they are related to the same reason. But I think it all has to do with my graphics card not being detected right.
I have a Samsung N310 with 1,6 Ghz and 2Gb RAM and am using Gnome. If i go to "System settings --> System information" it shows me "Graphics: unknown".
Since my new installation i dont have an xorg.conf anymore, and i did not experience any disadvantages yet, but before my graphics card was detected as following in the xorg.conf:
"Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)"
In the Gnome System information it was not listed though, like now.
This is not really a problem, but it made me think that my other issues could be related to the card being not detected right.
    Here are my real problems:
When i am watching a video on my external monitor i have slight lags, which are really annoying to me,
because im a big fan of a good picture!
It is explicitly visible during pan shots or when cars a moving from the one side of the picture to the other.
And the larger the file is, the worse it gets... The lag with dvds or large mkv-files is even worse and not watchable anymore!
My machine should be capable of running a film on fullscreen on an external monitor though, at least it does under XP on the same screen. Flawlessly!! And since arch is a minimal system, it should work! I am experiencing these problems with gnome2 and xfce as well, so it cant be related to gnome3!
Im also experiencing lags with the Gnome shell, for example when i move my mouse to the activities button in the upper-left corner or when i am moving windows with the mouse.
And last but not least firefox is very laggy while scrolling. But since even users with faster machines experience slight problems of that matter with firefox, i dont think that this problem is related to my card.
I could stand the issues with the Gnome shell and firefox, but i at least want to be able to watch a film with my computer!
I hope that my computer isnt simply to slow...

HAHA!! The trick was not to enable VSync but to disable it!
I just changed the SwapBuffersWait Option to "false".
I have around 300 FPS now and my video lag problem is GONE!!! Thanks for the tips! I will mark this solved now!
Well, that's a surprise for me.  I had to enable VSync to stop video tearing with my Intel HD 3000 GPU (Sandy Bridge).
From the Intel xorg driver man page:
    Option "SwapbuffersWait" "boolean"
This option controls the behavior of glXSwapBuffers and glXCopySubBufferMESA calls by GL
applications. If enabled, the calls will avoid tearing by making sure the display scanline is
outside of the area to be copied before the copy occurs. If disabled, no scanline
synchronization is performed, meaning tearing will likely occur. Note that when enabled, this
option can adversely affect the framerate of applications that render frames at less than
            refresh rate.
    Default: enabled.
    Glad you got it sorted!

  • Upgrade my DV6-6126sl with an Wireless adapter Bluetooth

    Hi,
I open a new topic, because searching among existing ones, I did not find useful answers.
I have a DV6-6126sl and I decided to upgrade it with a wireless card that implements the Bluetooth. analyzing the service and maintenance guide, I chose to buy the part number 657325-001, which should be compatible with both AMD and those models intel, but when I insert the card at startup hangs and does not post bios, giving an error "wireless adapter installed is not supported and then has the error" wireless (702) "," how is it possible? there is a method to unlock it, thanks

Today, the seller has sent to me an email that says: "I have the Ralink RT3090BC4 802.11b/g/n 1 × 1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR Combo Adapter 630705-001".
According to you, since the manual is listed as "For use on all computer models:" can I try?

I am looking to update to a new imac with intel core processor. I am still old school with a powerbook G4:)
I want to know if I am going to have to upgrade all graphic programs right away after buying new computer.
Trying to weigh ALL costs involved.
    Thanks for any advice!!!

Anything you have that is powerpc code only will not run on a new machine.  OS X 10.8 has no support for powerpc code (universal binary programs should be fine).
Other than that warning, without knowing exactly what programs you have, and what version you are on, it is hard to say whay will or will not migrate alright.
you might need to do some web searching and check apps at sites like roaringapps or on the programs Company web site.

Maybe it is this bug: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154969
The decisive effect is 'Improved window management' - if this effect is enabled kwin works normally.

  • Repeated error from Intel integrated Graphics card in my brand-new B320

    Hi
I am getting repeated errors from the Intel Integrated Graphics card (on the Intel i3 chip as I understand it) in my brand-new B320.
I checked via a tool from Intel that my drivers were up-to-date (version 15.22.1.2361).
I checked via Device Manager Update Drivers that my driver was up-to-date.
I attempted to uninstall and re-install my driver BUT the uninstall reverted me to a VGA Adapter (so my screen was then running in a low res 800x600 mode!) and I could not even then see the Intel Integrated Graphics card in Device Manager to be able to re-install the driver against (even if I ran scan for new hardware): I had to restore to a System Restore Point - so the problem has of course come back.
I have even had one error where the screen then went completely blank and nothing would bring it back: I had to power off the PC (Ouch!)
PLEASE advise how I rectify this incredibly frustrating problem step-by-step.

    hey johnestlea,
i was going through the download list of the B320 here : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819
And could not find any driver with the version 15.22.1.2361 for the Intel Integrated Graphic Card. Where did you get that version ?

  • Dual monitor for M Series ThinkCentre with Intel hd graphics + i5 650 processor?

I have a  M Series (My guess it is M90) ThinkCentre desktop with Intel hd graphics + i5 650 processor (detailed info in pictures below), one vga port on the central unit, I would like to upgrade dual monitors to extend desk.
I checked online, someone said a Intel hd graphics doesn't support dual monitor, but some said yes. My questions are:
1, could I upgrade to dual monitors with the Intel hd Graphics+i5 650 processor instead of upgrading a ATI video card?
2, if 1 is yes, can I attach a vga 15-pin splitter to connect dual monitors? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That model does support 2 monitors, the 2nd using the DisplayPort (DP.)   Not many monitors support DP as yet, if needed, a DP to DVI, HDMI or VGA can be bought.   Lenovo sells them, or I also recommend an AMD approved adapter :
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommended/eyefinity-adapters
you need a single-link (if DVI), passive adapter.   And not mini-DP.
Search on "M90, monitor" in the search engine above right for more information.

There's a problem with old Intel cards and the current Intel drivers. Unfortunately using older drivers means downgrading xorg-server and friends. Read about downgrading in the wiki.
I'm currently using xf86-video-intel 2.13.0-4 and xorg-server 1.9.4-1 and things are OK. My card

  • Ati Mobility HD 5470/Intel integrated hybrid graphics

Hi! I have a Acer TimelineX 5820TZG laptop which has switchable graphics. I am struggling to make Arch work with my dual-graphics configuration, and I have tried a lot of things, but it doesn't work.
Right now I am working with the Intel integrated graphics card but I am not even sure if the Ati is completely switched off (I am afraid it's not, as I read in a lot of posts about switchable graphics).
The first thing I did is installing the open-source drivers for ati (xf86-video-ati) and intel (xf86-video-intel). First I tried to make both cards to work by using the vgaswitcheroo method, I mounted debugfs, modprobed the radeon module and using:
    cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
I checked that the currently working card is the Intel integrated. I made sure the ATI is switched off by doing
    echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
(As explained in the wiki for hybrid graphics) and then started the X server. In this case the X server starts and sometimes even starts loading my WM (kde), but eventually the system gets frozen and all I can see is warning messages in the terminal (CPU #1 stuck for 23s!) and I am unable to use another terminal with Ctrl+Alt+Fx or soft-resetting. Some times it gets stuck on a loop, showing a lot of messages in the terminal and not allowing me to kill the process in any way.
Then I tried modprobing 'radeon' and then using
    echo DDIC > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
to enable the dedicated graphics card (Ati) and turning off the integrated one (intel) to see what happens. In this case the X server simply crashes, leaving me with the following log:

As it didn't work this way, I tried using the closed-source driver for ATI, the one in the Vi0L0 repository. I created the xorg.conf file using aticonfig --initial as suggested in the wiki. the result was Xserver crashing again, leaving me with the following log (which suggests that my system is not compatible with PxP tech by AMD and that I should not use the  fglrx driver).

So I came back to open-source drivers and right now I am working with radeon driver blacklisted and only using the intel driver, but as the radeon is blacklisted, vgaswitcheroo is not created and I don't know if mi ATI card is completely switched off.
As you can see, I have done the stuff suggested in the Acer TimelineX wiki page and it didn't work. I have also tried some other suggested actions I found but still can't get my switchable graphics to work.
I would really like to get both my cards to work completely, so I can switch graphics and restart the X server to get better performance or enhance my batt life depending on which GPU I am using; but at this point I am just fine with turning off the ATI card completely and just work with the intel one (though if there is a method for making both work, I prefer that than just turning a card off).
    Sorry for my english!!

how can you expect anything from the driver?
You are right, that's why I said that it suggest that my system is not compatible with fglrx. I don't understand why the warning just before that error line says that I should uninstall fglrx because my system is Muxed and that line says that my system is muxless...
Anyways, it doesn't matter, the fact is that fglrx doesn't work, so I will be using the open-source drivers...

  • Is Flash CS4 not compatible with Intel Graphics (laptop)? Really?

    Hi!
I'm graphic and animation designer. My company buys CS4 suite
including Photoshop & Flash. And I'm buying a laptop and now
choosing between one having Intel Graphics and another with ATI
Radeon. Intel has some features I need, but after googling, finding
    and reading this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.59b6c473/0
till the end, I see it does not fully support Photoshop
CS4!!! I also need Flash CS4 working, so does it support Flash?
So can you still recommend me buying intel integrated-laptop
or should I take an ATI Radeon powered one? I need Flash working
without annoying compatibilites problems. I don't want to buy an
Intel one, if it is not Photoshop- and Flash- compatible....
    Thank you!

    Anne,

It's important you understand what "fully support" means in
    this
context. According to Eric Palmer's Dec 4 reply (12:11pm),
    Photoshop CS4
does, in fact, run reliably on systems with Intel graphics.
    Eric purports
to be an Intel employee, but obviously there's no proof of
    that.
Regardless, his assertion jibes with with I hear from
    colleagues with Intel
    graphics chips.
It's not as if Photoshop suddenly fails if you happen to
    choose, say,
red from the color swatches. It's not as if Photoshop fails
    to export GIFs
on Intel machines. The only thing you're missing -- and this
    is true for me
too, even though I don't have Intel equipment -- is
    functionality that
relies on OpenGL. One of these features, for example, lets
    you rotate the
canvas while you work on a file. I don't mean rotate the
    image itself ... I
mean rotate the actual work space without resampling the
    image, just as if
you were rotating the piece of paper on which you were
    drawing. Granted,
that sounds like a neat feature (I'd like to experiment with
    it, myself!),
    but it's not a deal-breaker.
As far as I've seen, the Flash CS4 authoring tool doesn't
    rely on any
    OpenGL-accelerated features.

  • Can I install a graphics card on a Touchsmart 610-1050f computer with intel HD graphics

Can I install a graphics card on a Touchsmart 610-1050f computer with intel HD graphics and if i can where
can i find a graphics card that will install in that computer.

There are many MANY threads on this, the answer is that it's not worth your time since you have to have a replacement card that the HP system BIOS already likes,, and this is not the same as replacing anything in a desktop, this is the equivalent of replacing the graphics in a laptop.
Since the graphics cards are not considered a user upgradable component there are no lists of "approved cards" nor guides to doing it, the closest you could do is the service or recycling disassembly sheets.

  • 3d picture control fail with Intel HD Graphics 4600

I bought a laptop with Intel core i7 with Intel HD 4600 graphics. I'm testing a vi containing a 3D picture control. However when I run the vi, the 3d object that contains the 3d picture control displays a conflict, since the moving object, and this leaves no "clean" screen 3d object made. Any tips?, Thanks.

I too am having similar issues with 3d picture control paired with Intel HD Graphics 4000. Has this issue been resolved and what was the fix?
Additional information, my lap top also has a NVIDIA Quadro K3000M card. This display adapter is used when only external monitors are used and not the laptop display. In this configuration my 3d picture control works fine. When I switch to the lap top display the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is used and that is when I see the 3d graphics issue.
I have tried to turn off hardware acceleration and not given any acceleration option as suggested in the previous post.
I have the latest device driver for the Intel HD Graphics 4000.
    I am using LabView 2012
