Upgrade HFM 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.1.3
Hello,
I'm new to the subject hfm, like to know what are the benefits of carrying out an upgrade of HFM 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.1.3???, is recommended??? and why not upgrade of 9.2.0.3 to 11.1.2??? is much the change in architecture that makes it very difficult to upgrade.???
All comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Upgrade to 11.1.1.3 as it is very stable and broadly used in the field. Another angle is that 9.2.x is no longer supported. The feature set in 11.1.x is great, especially support for 64 bit HFM.

Hi,
Can someone please let me know how to upgrade the EPM-HFM application in 2/3 steps.
I know how to upgrade if it is classis application just by upgrading the database in EPM System Configurator.
What happens or need to be done if it was built in EPMA? Just upgrade schemas of both EPMA & HFM in Configurator?
Any pointers are appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
PMPlease post this to the HFM Discussion Forum, this is the FDM Discussion Forum.

Has anyone seen this issue before?
Database is: Oracle 9.2.0.8 (validated with support matrix as a supported version)
Cheers,
Edited by: user8640150 on 20/10/2010 15:42This issue is now resolved and I would like to share with others.
This issue occurs when HFM application is upgraded to 9.3.3 on Oracle 9i database. There is a patch 9.3.3.0.03 to resolved the issue.

Install/upgrade HFM 11.1 from version 4
How do we have to go about it? Is upgrading first to 9.3 version necessary or can we upgrade to 11.1 straight away? Does anybody have documentation or willing to quickly walk through the general procedure? We need to install HFM 11.1 and FDM. Thanks.
Hi,
I would like to get in touch with anyone that has performed this direct upgrade from HFM version 4 to version 11, as I am about to start going down this same path. I am especially interested to know more about the ease (or, if appropriate, the pain!) of which existing applications (rules, forms, and reports) can be converted from one to the other.
adi26, have you started your upgrade project already?
is anyone else interested in sharing some experiences?
Thanks in advance! -
I am new to HFM and trying to upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1. Previous analyst has moved on and I am stuck with HFM. Is there step-by-step instructions?
Hi,
The upgrade instructions are available at the below mentioned link, Pg 175

Hi Gurus,
Recently upgraded HFM system in distributed environment from version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on MS Win 2008 R2 platform and Oracle 11g database. There are two servers as follows:
Machine 1: Foundation
Reporting
Workspace
HFM Web
Machine 2: Foundation common components
HFM
FDM
Applied maintenance release, configured existing databases for individual components and deployed to application server on existing domain (on Machine 1 WebLogic) which went fine. Lastly configured web server on Foundation (Machine 1 - Oracle HTTP). Then executed the HFM schema upgrade utility.
Workspace & shared services are working fine, HFM apps are appearing in shared services, hfm text appears using hfm url, services are running fine. Issue is that HFM applications do not show up on workspace.
Oracle support suggested applying adf patches, HFM 303 & 305 patches, but the problem remains even after applying all the suggested patches. Is this a bug in 11.1.2.2? Please help.
Thanks,
HamminderHi Hamm,
The fact that you are saying that "hfm text appears using hfm url" can mean that you have not configured the workspace web server after you configured the HFM. Have you done that?
As another test, have you tried toy connect to HFM via smartview to an existing app?

HFM 9.3.1 Upgrade
Could Schema Utility Upgrade be run from HFM 11.1.1.3 when upgrading from HFM 9.3.1? Note that the HFM 11.1.1.3 is a new install running on a different server. How would the Schema Utility connect to the database to upgrade the application since there is no application yet on HFM 11.1.1.3 and this application is residing on HFM 9.3.1. What is the best practice to upgrade from HFM 9.3.1. to HFM 11.1.1.3.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciatedHi!
There are 2 possible options - HFM copy+Schema update utility or loading files into the new application. With one note, before loading your application file you can update it by opening it in the win32 metadata manager. It will convert it to the latest HFM version.
I guess this topic has been covered many times here

Hi All,
I am in need of your valuable suggestions. We are in process of upgrading Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1 in the existing server. I have got only 2 environments namely Dev & Prod. So I have to do everything in one server only to upgrade to ensure its working. Currently we have got Shared Services, HFM (EPM application not Classic), Workspace,Hyperion Performance Management Architect,FR & Web Analysis & FDM in 9.3.1 version.I know first i need to upgrade from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 and then to 11.1.2.1.My question is that after successful upgrade to 9.3.3 how i am going to upgrade to 11.1.2.1 in the same server. i was informed by oracle to create a new Drive in the server and there you can install & configure it. I have few questions
* How the shared services will be upgraded. Do i need to point it to the existing (9.3.3) database. If Yes, will it work as i can't roll back.
*I read that in 11.1.2.1 there is a Utility HSSMIGRATE.BAT which we are supposed to run and it will create a ZIP which need to point during the 11.1.2.1
configuration. I am not sure whether its going to work or not.
* Have also read if there is Performance Management Architect then there are certain activities which need to be carried out.
* What Back should i take?
* How to upgrade HFM from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1
* Read that FDM need to be deleted if you want to upgrade it to 9.3.3 from 9.3.1 and then again reinstall it for 11.1.2.1.Please suggest how to go about it.
Please suggest if there can be any other approach also. Can any one tell for shared services can it be possible that i export the security through CSSEXPORTUTILITY in 9.3.3. Shared Services and then Import it back in 11.1.2.1.Would request you to provide me as much information as you can.
Thanks in Advance.Answers:

1.After installation of 11.1.2.1,you will have to run configuration utility and point to existing database which will upgrade HSS.The hssmigrate utility will provide a zip file which should be used as well. The configuration utility will have option to "import data from earlier release"
*I read that in 11.1.2.1 there is a Utility HSSMIGRATE.BAT which we are supposed to run and it will create a ZIP which need to point during the 11.1.2.1

2.Refer (1).The utility is tested and supported so should work from you also.If having problems then get in touch with Oracle support.
* What Back should i take?
3.Every thing ----repository,filesystem etc.
You can refer to backup and recovery guide which should have what to be backedup for each component.

HFM 3.5 to HFM 9.3.1 issues Urgent help needed
Dear All:
i am on an upgrade Scenario
Upgrading HFM 3.5 and Hyperion Reports 7.0 to System 931
Environemt details : Windows 2003 sp2, SQL 2000 sp3a
PROD HFM Server version : 3.5.1 sp2
PROD HR Version 7.0
Server 1: HFM Full Server
Server 2: HFM App Server
Server 3: HFM Web Server
Server 4: SQL / HReports 7.0 (HFM DB=100+GB Size)
Task : Upgrade/Migrate the HFM 3.5.1 to System 9.3.1 on a different environment, (different domain).
I'm not sure if i cant use the HFMCopyApplication.exe utility for two reason... HFM DB is huge and botht the servers are in two domains.
What would be the suggested or best method to do this migration/upgradation ? I have the HFM DB backup from PROD Server....

Hello
We are using an old version of HFM and want to upgrade to system 9. We still use HAL and want to also bring in FDM. I am trying to find some documents on how easy or hard this woudl be and what would be involved. Can someone point me in the right direction?Hi,
Upgrading HFM from presystem 9 to System 9, releases 9.2.x or 9.3.x is not that complicated. Upgrading your HFM applications will under go a schema upgrade, that is changes on the relational database tables. Have not come up to any problems upgrading HFM applications, the only key concern you should have is the security. From HFM 4.x to System 9 there is a change in how security is managed. Security for users and groups (and security classes also) used to be handled inside the HFM, now they are all managed by Shared Services. Shared Services manages the security for all Hyperion applications in System 9. Worst case scenario in upgrading is recreating the security for each of you HFM apps. that is provisioning users and groups, your security classes will be intact.
If you have any more specific questions let me know. -
Hi all,
is there any tool to upgrade from HE to HFM?
It's a very simple HE application (very flat)
Thanks in advanceHyperion Enterprise 6.5.1 includes a utility that will generate an HFM application shell from the Enterprise application. Thsi can be useful for modeling an HFM application, though most Enterprise applications really need a redesign before they can be used as proper HFM applications, for many reasons.
