Upgrade Information

I'm sure there are many more adept people at sifting through the version wireless plans and understanding them than myself; so I came here to seek help. I currently have the Samsung Intensity with 450 talk minutes and unlimited texting, with my free upgrade rolling up on August the 10th. The bill is around $70 a month or so. If I were to upgrade to a smart phone, and I'm sure there will be a plethora of free smartphones available to me for free, how much would it cost to add 5 GB of data for Facebook, Youtube videos, google searches, and apps like Pandora radio for streaming music? I'm sure 5 GB will be enough to ensure I don't go over, nor I have so much I am burning music. Does anyone know what the cost would be? I'm hoping to keep it under $100 a month. If 5 GB would be too much for what I need, then please tell me what would be enough.

I just wanted to point out that upgrades aren't free. It just means you get the 2 year contract price on a new phone once you've completed 20 months of your 2 year contract.
If you're the primary line on the account, you *might* have one last NE2 credit to use (either $30 or $50, depending on your calling plan and when you last signed a contract) and that will be taken off the 2 year contract price of whichever phone you get. The NE2 program has been discontinued so that will be your last credit to use. But even with the credit, smartphones will not be free, just highly discounted.

Hello,I want to ask that what did you mean by the "Upgrade Information" (August 2015) on windows 10 upgrade link. Does sony can take more time to deliver windows 10 compatible drivers? Regards P.S:image is attched for you refrence.

    Hi mudasir_khn,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
Yes, this announcement is actually posted on eSupport website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/os10upgrade.pl
Upgrade information, possibly updated drivers and software, or other announcement. Unfortunately I cannot confirm that right now since we still have limited information about this specific matter. I am also not sure if Sony, in your location, will release the drivers and software on the same date. If you're using a U.S. model of Vaio, then stick with the date posted, otherwise contact Sony's support based on your location or from where you purchased the computer.
For further assistance, we kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/.

  • Windows 10 upgrade information

Toshiba has created a page with information about the upgrade process for Windows 10:
    Toshiba Windows 10 Upgrade Information
You can find a list of supported models here:
Toshiba models supported for upgrade to Windows 10
Step-by-step upgrade instructions can be found here:
How to upgrade your TOSHIBA Windows® PC or Tablet to Windows 10
There's a lot of other useful information at the top link as well.
If your model isn't supported for upgrade to Windows 10, you might still be able to perform the upgrade. Regardless of your model being listed, I'll be happy to try my best to help with questions and troubleshooting.
Please remember to make recovery media before upgrading. It's always a good idea even if you don't think you'll need it.
Lastly, if you have a problem or question about your upgrade, please create a new thread and include your model and part numbers. Don't reply here if it's an issue with your upgrade.

Well, as you said in the Upgrade post, that doesn't mean that you can;t upgrade.  My Windows 10 current installation Build 10240 is running fine on my L775D which is "not supported".  I was hoping maybe to tweak a couple of drivers if they became available for Win 10 but I'm really doing okay without them.  As far as the C75D is concerned, I had no immediate plans to upgrade to Win 10 anyway.

There are some important steps to take prior to doing the upgrade.  Review this MS posted document. Be sure to run the upgrade assistant.
Be sure that Windows 8 has all of the latest MS updates installed. There are prerequisite patches that are required.
Be sure that you have at least 40 GB of hard disk free space.
Back up your data to external media.
Make a Windows 8 recovery media to external media before doing the upgrade.  I prefer to use a third party hard drive imaging program.
    Temporarily disable the antivirus software.
You will need to reinstall your programs after the upgrade so make note of which ones are required.

I've been running 64-bit Windows 8 Consumer Preview very nicely for several months and want to upgrade to 64-bit Windows Pro on my Pavilion a1440n. When I've tried to install from within the OS I get weird messages indicating that it can't be installed on a USB Flash drive (which I'm not trying to do). When I tried doing a clean install I got an odd message saying that certain installer files were missing and it would not complete. I called Microsoft customer support and the agent there thought my cpu would work because it wouldn't support Hyper-V, even though I understand that it optional. From running coreinfo.exe I can see that I have the PAE, NX, and SSE2 on the cpu enabled as meets requirements.
When I ran through th HP site I saw that this machine has not been tested. Is there any way of getting confirmation that Windows 8 Pro 64-bit will or won't run on my machine? The HP Product code for it is ER904AA#ABA.
    Thanks!

  • Satellite C55-A-1NU - RAM upgrade information and SSD upgrade

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1NU and I want to know if is possible to replace the optical drive with a SSD? Can anyone tell me what do I need to do? What kind of rack and SSD should I buy. Thanks
Also I want to improve the ram memory the laptop has only 1 slot 4 gb ddr3 1600 mhz but is single channel. What model should I buy to work in dual channel I use cpu z to identify the model and it shows me hmt451s6mfr8a do I need exactly this one or I can put 2 of other manufacture ty.

This upgrade with SSD is not supported by Toshiba so all you do is on your risk. Check please this forum. If Im remembering well some people have already posted own experiences.
I think in most cases they have ordered such HDD/SSD caddy but disc drive was not recognized at all.
In my opinion you should not do such upgrade.
    RAM
According notebook specification you can upgrade RAM up to 16 GB and at the bottom side under memory cover you should find two memory slots. How to upgrade RAM is described in users manuals. Check please page 72.
Compatible RAM modules for your notebook model are:
    4GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M4G
    8GB DDR3L-1600 - PA5104U-1M8G

  • Looking for information on best practices using Live Upgrade to patch LDOMs

This is in Solaris 10. Relatively new to the style of patching... I have a T5240 with 4 LDOMS. A control LDOM and three clients. I have some fundamental questions I'd like help with..
    Namely:
#1. The Client LDOMS have zones running in them. Do I need to init 0 the zone or can I just +zoneadm zone halt+ them regardless of state? I.E. if it's running a database will halting the zone essentially snapshot it or will it attempt to shut it down. Is this even a nessessary step.
#2. What is the reccommended reboot order for the LDOMs? do I need to init 0 the client ldoms and the reboot the control ldom or can I leave the client LDOM's running and just reboot the control and then reboot the clients after the control comes up?
#3. Oracle. it's running in several of the zones on the client LDOM's what considerations need to be made for this?
I am sure other things will come up during the conversation but I have been looking for an hour on Oracle's site for this and the only thing I can find is old Sun Docs with broken links.
Thanks for any help you can provide,

Before you use live upgrade, or any other patching technique for Solaris, please be sure to read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23823_01/html/E23801/index.html which includes information on upgrading systems with non-global zones. Also, go to support.oracle.com and read Oracle Solaris Live Upgrade Information Center [ID 1364140.1]. These really are MANDATORY READING.
    For the individual questions:
#1. During the actual maintenance you don't have to do anything to the zone - just operate it as normal. That's the purpose of the "live" in "live upgrade" - you're applying patches on a live, running system under normal operations. When you are finisihed with that process you can then reboot into the new "boot environment". This will become more clear after reading the above documents. Do as you normally would do before taking a planned outage: shut the databases down using the database commands for a graceful shutdown. A zone halt will abruptly stop the zone and is not a good idea for a database. Alternatively, if you can take application outages, you could (smoothly) shutdown the applications and then their domains, detach the zones (zoneadm detach) and then do a live upgrade. Some people like that because it makes things faster. After the live upgrade you would reboot and then zoneadm attach the zones again. The fact that the Solaris instance is running within a logical domain really is mostly besides the point with respect to this process.
As you can see, there are a LOT of options and choices here, so it's important to read the doc. I ***strongly*** recommend you practice on a test domain so you can get used to the procedure. That's one of the benefits of virtualization: you can easily set up test environments so you cn test out procedures. Do it! :-)
#2 First, note that you can update the domains individually at separate times, just as if they were separate physical machines. So, you could update the guest domains one week (all at once or one at a time), reboot them into the new Solaris 10 software level, and then a few weeks later (or whenever) update the control domain.
If you had set up your T5240 in a split-bus configuration with an alternate I/O domain providing virtual I/O for the guests, you would be able to upgrade the extra I/O domain and the control domain one at a time in a rolling upgrade - without ever having to reboot the guests. That's really powerful for providing continuous availability. Since you haven't done that, the answer is that at the point you reboot the control domain the guests will lose their I/O. They don't crash, and technically you could just have them continue until the control domain comes back up at which time the I/O devices reappear. For an important application like a database I wouldn't recommend that. Instead: shutdown the guests. then reboot the control domain, then bring the guest domains back up.
    3. The fact that Oracle database is running in zones inside those domains really isn't an issue. You should study the zones administration guide to understand the operational aspects of running with zones, and make sure that the patches are compatible with the version of Oracle.
I STRONGLY recommend reading the documents mentioned at top, and setting up a test domain to practice on. It shouldn't be hard for you to find documentation. Go to www.oracle.com and hover your mouse over "Oracle Technology Network". You'll see a window with a menu of choices, one of which is "Documentation" - click on that. From there, click on System Software, and it takes you right to the links for Solaris 10 and 11.

  • HP 320-1030 WINDOWS 7 TOUCHSCREEN SOFTWARE AND WINDOWS 8 UPGRADE

Just purchased an hp 320-1030 touchscreen with windows 7 operating system. The advertisement was that you could upgrade to windows 8 for $15 and HP would refund the $15.00
When you read the upgrade information it states that HP Touchsmart applications are not compatible with Windows 8 and must be uninstalled before upgrade.
The Windows 7 touchscreen came with the following touchscreen applications:
    HP Touchsmart 5.0
    HP Touchsmart Music
    HP Touchsmart Browser
    HP Touchsmart Web Cam
    Canvas
HP movie store powered by Roxio Now.
Is Windows 8 going to provide Replacement applications that will function as well ?
A Little help on staying with Windows 7 for an HP Windows 7 Touchscreen or upgrading for Windows 8.
If I knew about these limitiations I would have waited for a HP Windows 8 touchscreen.

    Hello Shujan
I am happy to be able to link you to your HP TouchSmart 320-1030 Desktop PC Drivers and software here. You will find if you choose Windows 7 64-bit from the drop-down box and hit "NEXT" than scroll down you will see + Driver - Original and if you click on that you will find the drivers you are looking for.
I hope this resolves your issue and would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums and have a great day!
Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!
Also be sure to mark my post as “Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others who face the same challenge find the same solution.

  • How do I get my hardware upgrade back?

I had a nightmare situationtoday. I told the salesperson at the Apple store I was going to pay cash, buthe charged debit, and instead of changing the payment option he just cancelledto phone to charge it again. HOWEVER when he went to charge it again, he hadalready activated the 4S in the box, and deactivated my phone. But I couldn'tpay for it because I could not use my card.
It turns out that the applestore employee upgraded my phone, only to revert it back to my OLD 3GS on a NEW2 YEAR CONTRACT, without any device upgrade! (getting the new iPhone was partof the contract) So I went to see the manager and demanded my upgrade be rolledback, and he said I needed to contact AT&T. After an hour on the phone withCustomer support, I was told that apple had to recall the upgrade. The managercalled the person on customer support a liar, so I went to the AT&T outletand I was told the apple store manager was wrong and he HAD to undo the"upgrade". So now it's just a huge back and forth.
    Question is:
How do I rollback my"upgrade" so I can actually upgrade my phone to a new one?
Is it even legal to charge adevice upgrade without even getting a new device? (My AT&T account shows me having an iPhone 4S but I never get one)

I think AT&T does this by using something like the sim card or network signals or whatever to determine what phone you hae (although I have no idea for sure so please don't yell if I am wrong ).
As for the upgrade, what probably happened was when you began your purchase at the store, it got far enough to process the upgrade (but not the puchase) on AT&Ts end. So from what you have mentioned, it seems it is AT&Ts problem, not Apple's. AT&T is the only one who has access to your upgrade information and is the only one authorized to change it. Unfortunately, AT&T doesn't have the best customer servcie reps and your experience with them will vary. So, either do what I suggested above or just keep trying AT&T until you get a good rep. I know it is frustrating, but it will get sorted out. Good luck.

WARNING: --> Your recycle bin is turned on and currently contains no objects.
.... Because it is REQUIRED that the recycle bin be empty prior to upgrading

WARNING: --> JOB_QUEUE_PROCESS value must be updated
.... Your current setting of "10" is too low.
.... Starting with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2), setting
    .... JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES to 0 causes both DBMS_SCHEDULER and
.... DBMS_JOB jobs to not run. Previously, setting JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES
.... to 0 caused DBMS_JOB jobs to not run, but DBMS_SCHEDULER jobs were
.... unaffected and would still run. This parameter must be updated to
.... a value greater than 48  (default value is 1000) prior to upgrade.
.... Not doing so will affect the running of utlrp.sql after the upgrade
    Recommendations
Oracle recommends gathering dictionary statistics prior to
    upgrading the database.
To gather dictionary statistics execute the following command
    while connected as SYSDBA:
        EXECUTE dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats;
Oracle recommends reviewing any defined events prior to upgrading.
To view existing non-default events execute the following commands
    while connected AS SYSDBA:
      Events:
        SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) FROM sys.v$parameter2
          WHERE  UPPER(name) ='EVENT' AND  isdefault='FALSE'
      Trace Events:
        SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) from sys.v$parameter2
          WHERE UPPER(name) = '_TRACE_EVENTS' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Changes will need to be made in the init.ora or spfile.

  • Utlu111i.sql upgrade from 10.2.0.3 to 11.1.0.7

My question is re the COMPATIBLE initialization parameter.
when run the utlu111i.sql there NO warning about the COMPATIBLE parameter.
So, the appropriate action to go fine with the upgrade is to leave the current value or to change before the upgrade.

In an upgrade project, one typically does a test upgrade and then tests the application (with compatibility set to the upgraded version) to ensure there are no performance issues. What has your testing revealed ? If there are no issues, omit the compatible parameter (it will default to 11.1.0.7)
