Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

Upgrade windows+Itunes = downloads gone, free/payed apps missing
Ey all,
I have reinstalled my windows 7 and therefore cleared the disk.
I also decided to upgrade my itunes form 8 to 9.
Now, after logging in and authorizing my computer i see that my free and payed applications are gone. I have no music/movies so they are clear as well.
The apps dont show in the downloads, neither on appstore. it also wants me to pay when i go to the previously purchased applications in the appstore. i have receipts for these.
I did this before and i had no problems at the time, the apps showed up as they were supposed to.
Any suggestions?Nevermind, when actually confirming the buy it says i have bought it. unfortunately, the list of apps i have used in the past is lost.
is there a way to find this list? or do i have to remember them by chance?
i have used the invoices receipts in my inbox, but i still feel i am missing a few. -

You should. When it arrives & you get it set up, go to the Mac App Store & see if they are available to you.

stevejobsfan is correct; iwork for ios is free only for new purchases of new ios devices. A good work around (if you have wifi connectivity) is going to the icloud website on your ipad, and working on your document.
A word of caution (the real reason I am responding to your post). If you do a lot of 'formatting' of a document on iwork for mac, and then save it in icloud; you will probably loose most of the formatting you have done (this will be true if you oppen the document in iwork for ios; also) It happened to me, and I did not duplicate the document before saving it to icloud; I lost at least an hours worth of work. -

let me inform you....the new devices that ios7 included (iphone 5c 5s and 4s 8GB NEW) at the set up device....have the privilege to download free iwork, iphoto and imovie....then, slur over with those that buy a new device as iphone 5 and ipad retina etc (with ios 6) and iwork and ilife are free do the next- in that situation the iwork and the ilife are not free untill you register your device to your "Apple my support" and then go to appstore find the iwork and ilife -click and get into-you see that is free (but before told you that cost) ...
or killed all apps in multitasking, especially Appstore app. Then turn off and turn on again your iPhone/iPad bought after 1st Sept and open Appstore app. Then find keynote, numbers, pages etc. all should be free

You don't. It's only free when you activate a NEW iOS device. The previous owner qualified for the free apps. You do not.
You'll have to purchase them or activate a new iOS device to qualify for the free download. -
i bought and downloaded iWork when i bought my macbook pro and i used to save my documents on words. then a few weeks ago, i downloaded a free trial of microsoft office but unregistered and deleted it a week after. now i can't save my documents on word. It used to ask me if I want to save my documents on word, now it doesn't. And the W icon keeps on appearing on my dock. Can I return my computer to an earlier date? Please help me. Thanks

haha, so now i'm thinking. I'm learning the terminal as fast as i can but there are several lines of codes and commands in there that throws up red flags to me that i don't fully understand. It just looks fishy too me. It would be highly appreciated if someone could just check this out just to tell me that i don't need to worry about it. Or point me in the right direction. I just feel un easy about this. ha.

If you are within 14 days of purchase you can still return the iPhone and get the phone that suits your needs, however, I think you will find that no matter which phone you get the content provider will want to know how you are going to pay for future purchases. For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.

Yes, it's in your Applications folder and is called "Install OS X". Make sure to empty your trash afterwards to clear the space.
