Upgrade iPad 3: iOS 7.0.2 to 7.1.2?

Hello. I just bought a refurbished iPad 3. It came with iOS 7.0.2 installed and it is very unstable. I have used 7.1.2 on another iPad 3 with great success and wish to upgrade this new iPad ONLY to 7.1.2. Is this possible or am I stuck with 7.0.2. I would really rather not upgrade to version 8. I am not opposed to getting my hands dirty to accomplish this. I could not find an answer to this anywhere! Thanks for any help.

Glad that helped.
For what it's worth, the iOS 8 adaption rate is very high.  As I recall, it's the highest adaption rate of any iOS version.
Personally, I update my iOS on all devices that use it within 24 hours of its release.  Of course I understand we all have our opinions about this.
My only caution to you would be to make sure your iPad has sufficient free storage space available when performing the upgrade.
Enjoy your iPad!

Double-tap on the Home button. You will see a preview of the app above the actual icon. Slide the preview up to kill it.

I'm having the same, identical problem. It goes into step 2 (backing up process) then it goes back to step one (finding iPad) and it starts over again. It will just keep doing that for 3 or 4 times until it will say "iPad not found". This is so frustrating.

  • Purchased iBook disappeared after upgrading iPad to iOS 8.  Unable to re-download.

A student at my school recently lost an iBook after upgrading his iPad to iOS 8.  After the upgrade, the book was just no longer on his bookshelf.  Now, when trying to re-download from his Purchased list, the book just appears grayed out and does not download. He can download the book on his iPhone, which is iOS 7.  We've tried:  closing/re-opening iBooks, signing out/in of his Apple ID, Home button-Power button resetting the iPad, signing out of iTunes, checking storage despite not getting any errors (has 3GB available, book is under 10MB).  No luck with any of that.. just a grayed out book that won't download.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks

  • Upgrading iPad 2 iOS from 4.3.5 to 6?

I have someone that wants to upgrade to iOS 6, but they are still on 4.3.5 and never upgraded to 5. Before I help them with this, is this even possible? Or will I have to upgrade to 5 first and then 6? I dont want to risk erasing any of their data.
Also, I dont want to delete anything from syncing. If I they have authorized itunes then none of the data will be erased right?

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Problem upgrading iPad from iOS 4.2 to 4.3....

Before I start, I can confirm that I have successfully upgraded my iPhone4 from 4.2 to 4.3.
In regard to the iPad, when I click on the 'Check for update' button in my iTunes device summary page, it states that 4.2 is the 'Current Version', even though I know that iOS 4.3 is available. Therefore to try and force an update I selected the 'Restore' option in the same summary page and it prompts me if I am sure that I want to restore etc... which I confirm with the RESTORE, then I get an error message of _'There was a problem with downloading the software for the iPad "iPad". The requested resource was not found.'_
Anyone have any ideas how to get around this issue, or why iTunes is telling me that 4.2 is the latest version.
    Thanks in advance.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

  • Upgraded IPad to IOS 6, Now I can't log into the employee login at works website

So I just upgraded the IPas 2 to IOS 6.  When I go to my work site web page and click on the a locked employee sign in, where I log in,nothing happens.  This is a hospital website where I can log in to see what the patient count is.

Try this ... Settings>Safari>Block pop-ups>Off. You may need to allow a pop up in order to get to the log in screen.
You can also try Settings>Safari>Accept Cookies>From Visited.
If those don't work, clear Safari, restart the iPad and try again. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Memory hog since upgrading iphone to iOS 6

hi - hope someone can help. There's a huge chunk of hard drive space assigned to other since upgrading ipHONe to ios 6
    I'm running Lion 10.7.5 on MacBook Pro 2.4GHz 160GB.
Yesterday I upgraded iPad to ios 6 - no probs. Then iPhone 4s. There wasn't enough space for the iphone backup so the upgrade aborted. I freed up space, but it still aborted the next time. I installed the Lion OS upgrade, used dusk utiltiy and ONYX to clean stuff up. Many restarts etc. 'Other' is now consuming 136gb of HD space and I can't find the files that are doing it.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated
    cheers
    T

I had exactly the same experience with my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2.
"Other" went up to 8 or 9 GB !
I reinstalled both from scratch and then it was ok. "Other" is now 0,87 GB on my iPhone. I hope it stays this way.
