  • Can I upgrade iPad 1 from ios5 to ios6

Have had my iPad 1 for some time now, I understand that I can upgrade from ios5 to ios 6, this is so confusing could do with some really basic instruction on how to do this.

    Hi ..
The first generation iPad cannot be updated beyond iOS 5.1.1.

  • Has Anyone Had Good Luck After Upgrading iPad 1 To iOS5e Experiences With iPad 1

Guessing, but posts here seem 20:1 negative after upgrading iPad 1 to iOS5.
Most common is huge slowdown in response and crashing.
I'm a typical user in that I rarely post if not having trouble, so I suspect there are many iPad 1 users that have upgraded to iOS5 and have not noticed any significant hit in performance.
I'd like to hear from you folks that are happy.
Due to all the negative posts I'm holding up on upgrading my iPad 1 3G 64GB as my understanding is that there is no going back to iOS 4.3 after the upgrade to iOS5.
Should I upgrade or wait for an update?

iPad1, 64GB, 3G. I updated to iOS5 a couple of days after it was released (servers were too slow to connect on the first day. )  I had only one crash, and that was my fault.  (Moved Newsstand to a folder, which is not supported.)  Otherwise, all is fine.  As others have noted, on the iPad1, it's a bit slower, but nothing that's a dealbreaker IMHO.
The most difficult thing has been the amount of updates to the apps.  Nearly every app I have had an update for iOS5 so it was like I was seeing 3-5 new updates every day.  But I've kept with the updates and I think that has helped with my lack of crashes/lockups.
My only real complaint is with the way the iPod app changed to the Music app and how it now treats podcasts.  (The "previously played" indicator is now missing.)  And a few minor gripes like not having location based reminders (iPhone only feature. )  But otherwise, I'm reasonably satisfied with the update on my device.
If I had to make a recommendation, I'd be on the fence.  If there is a "must have" feature you want (e.g.: Airport configuration utility, Messages, Twitter integration,) then go ahead an update.  Otherwise, not updating now is probably not going to inconvinience you.  Eventually, there may be "iOS5 only" apps but by then, you'll probably be ready for a new iPad.

  • I can't upgrade my iphone4 from iOS5.01 to iOS5.1, tried many times, always showed "unknown error 1602", what should I do?

I can't upgrade my iphone4 from iOS5.01 to iOS5.1, tried many times, always showed "unknown error 1602", what should I do?

Error 1600, 1601, 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Tried to upgrading ipad 1 from itunes and l guess it did not complete because all I have showing on the ipad is the itunes logo with the usb cable. when l try to connect it to my system, it resquest that a driver be used to install the device. Pls help

Tried to upgrading ipad 1 from itunes and l guess it did not complete the process because all I have showing on the ipad is the itunes logo with the usb cable. When l try to connect it to my system, it resquest that a driver be used to install the device. Please help! How do I restore?

Restoration is relatively simplistic. Here's whatcha do. Plug your ipad in, open itunes, now if itunes doesn't recognize it then you may have a problem, anywho, click on the ipad in the devices interface and go to the info tab, click restore, and it'll be just like it was when it left the factory. To get you data back, it should ask if you would like to use a backup, just select the backup you want and you'll be good to go. That is if you regularly backed up your iPad.

  • After upgrading iPad 2 to IOS5, App store needs to verify my address to download Apps

I upgraded my iPod G3  & iPad 2 from IOS 4.x.x yesterday. Everything seemed to go fine, all apps still worked, etc.
Then I decided to download an App from the App store button on my iPod. I was able to select the App and select the
install button. It asked for my password I have been using for purchases since the App store has been in existance.
This time it said it had to VERIFY MY ADDRESS.  It asked me to enter my Password again and came up with the following message.
'Your address does not seem to be a regular US address. We need a valid US Address in order
to calculate taxes correctly. Please enter your Valid US address'.
It then displayed my account information including what card I use, expiration date, etc. The second box is the
The next box is the Billing Address that has my First Name, Last Name Address, City State Zipcode, etc. It is ALL valid Information.
This happens on both my iPod and iPad. On my iMac and Macbook Pro using the same account, there is no issues downloading from the APP store.
I was able to download Apps prior to upgrading the IOS.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
There is no warm beings at Apple support line on Weekends and their Automated Robot doesn't comprenend anything. So I will have to wait until
monday and try to find someone that can tell me why my U.S. Address does not appear to be a U.S. Address.

I tried several times Monday (Yesterday) to Call APPLE and getting a Warm Body is almost impossible. They have the AUTOMATED ROBOT that they seem to think can aswer questions. When it confused it sends you to a number that rings to a support line, however, no one answered the times I called. I called between 3-5PM USA Mountain Time.
Because of being busy with other things, I haven't tried today.

  • Has anyone upgraded iPad 2 from iOS 4. to iOS 7?

I need to update iPad 2 from iOS 4.3.4 to iOS 7. Has anyone done this and what problems occurred?

I don't think that the distance from 4.3.4 to 7 is going to be your issue. Remember that the iPad 2 is the oldest device supported by iOS 7, so it may be slow in places.
I don't think I've seen many issues, but you can search here by typing "iPad 2 iOS 7" and see if there's any watchouts.

  • Issues in upgrading ipad 2 from 4.33 to 8.02

    Hi,
Itunes :  Latest version (12.0.1.26) on Windows 7
I am trying upgrade using iTunes.   When I sync, the ipad gets stuck in the "Connect with itunes Logo" mode.  This can be recovered using tools like IReb or tinyumbrella .
What I am seeing is that this process is completely reproducible:
      (1)  Try to do Upgrade
       (2)  Ipad 2 stuck at "Connect itunes screen"
       (3)  Use iReb to recover Ipad 2
The error I am getting is 4000 series.
Is it possible for my current ipad 2 version (4.33) to get directly upgraded to 8.02?
Should I upgrade to some intermediate version to complete the upgrade?
    Thanks,

It's not possible to update iOS to an intermediate version (between what's currently on the device and the most current version, which is iOS 8.1). Earlier versions of iOS, even though your device can run them are no longer signed or validated by Apple for your device and the update will fail. The iPad 2nd gen can run the most current iOS 8.1 so that is what will be installed (assuming no errors) automatically by updating via iTunes. You cannot update via the device itself because this requires the device already be at iOS 5.x
Maybe your issue is that you are trying to update to iOS 8.0.2 but that version is no longer being signed (as far as I'm aware). Are you updating by manually choosing the iOS 8.0.2 update .ipsw file? If so, you may want to find the iOS 8.1 .ipsw file for your particular device and use that instead...or simply let iTunes find the correct update for your device (don't manually use the .ipsw file update method).
    See the following article:
    http://recomhub.com/blog/fix-error-4000-4005-4013-4014-4016-on-itunes-ios7/
    From the article above:
"The hardware error generally relates to a cable that doesn’t work correctly, a port that is broken or even some dust and debris in between the connection. You would notice this when you first connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer to see if it was recognized. The best way to fix iTunes error 4013/4014 during an iOS 7 upgrade is to change the USB cable or USB port on computer. If that doesn’t work try updating to the newest iTunes available."
or Google "ipad error 4000" for plenty of other info.

  • Upgrade ipad 4 from 6.1.3 to 7.1.2 is it possible now?

Hi, I just try to restore my ipad 4 to 7.1.2 from 6.1.3 with Shift+Click Restore. It shows error 3194. Here what I did after search google.
    1. Upgrade iTunes
    2. Change 3 Computers with windows 7 32bit, 7 64bit and 8.1 64bit using every USB port and different cable.
    3. Using the Lightning Cable from iPhone 5
    4. Remove apple link from hosts file. Restart and Not restart.
    5. Reset all content on my Ipad
    6. Enter DFU mode and repeat 2,3,4
Also, I never jailbreak this devices.
None of them work. It still shows error 3194 and I just remember about Apple close signing IOS 7.1.2 from people who want to downgrade from IOS 8. Is this apply to upgrading? I don't want IOS 8 since it take about 800MB more. I try to use TinyUmbella and it not works. It help me get out from recovery mode only.
Can someone tell me how to upgrade it to 7.1.2 or it is impossible now?
    Thank you very much.
    Best,
    Jeng

  • How to upgrade my A1337 from iOS 5.1.1 to 7 or 8

I have the latest itunes installed on my pc yet I could not do the upgrade, the response I have is "

You can start by looking for an App on the App Store on your 1st gen iPad, then check this website to see if there is still an earlier version of it, in case there is no longer an iOS 5 version listed in its description.

  • Hi guys I have a iPad 2 I recently upgraded it from iOS5 to ios7. Since then it only uses the 8ta network but in the top left hand corner it says no service with 3G next to it how am I able to fix this? Could it be a hardware problem?

Since I upgraded my iPad from iOS5 to ios7 my iPad will only work on one network.
However in the top left hand corner is says no service with 3G next to it.
I took it to Apple istore in clearwater mall and they couldn't help me.
Please advise me on how to sort the problem out.
    Kind Regards

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
