Upgrade iPhoto database taking forever, 12 hours and counting.the Apple tech staff migrated data from my old MacBoo to New McBk Pro. Then the Upgrading process was started and ran for 24 hours before I finally Force Quit. BTW, iPhoto didn't show up as Not Responding, but I figured there was some glitch and Force Quit. THen started up again and now 12 hours and counting. Am I missing something?

Yesterday, I tried a SEAGATE SSHD but my screen was always a showing a QUESTION MARK (?). It's not the cable because when I put back the old original version, everything works...Any sugestion of brabnding or procédure to upgrade my hard drive?

The largest 2.5" dia SATA drives available are 2 TB in capacity.
Have you tried the Seagate SSHD connected externally to the MBP via USB? The drive itself may be faulty.

Use Migration Assistant on your new Mac:
Click Continue:
On the next screen, choose your Time Machine backup disk.
Don't bother to migrate Applications unless you know they will work on your new Mac. For example, PowerPC applications won't work. Just migrate your user account which will copy all your photos, music, movies, and other documents.
Note: you will not be able to migrate the information to same account in which you are already logged in. Migration Assistant will tell you that and recommend what to do. It can migrate the information to a new account, but you will have to give it a name you might want to change later. One way around this is to create a temporary account, log in to it, and run Migration Assistant which will replace your normal account. Then, log out of the temporary account, log in to your usual one, verify everyting works as you expect, and delete the temporary one.
All this can be avoided when you set up a brand new Mac by running Setup Assistant which essentially does the same thing to create your new account, but most people are too excited to do that and elect to migrate later.

Are you asking about iCloud Photo Library (Beta) as described in: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support ?
In that case you will still see all photos on your iPhone, even after uploading the Photos to the iCloud Photo Library. The photos on your iPhone may be light-weight optimized previews, if you have the setting
Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library > Optimize [device] Storage enabled.
But as long as you have enough free storage, will the your iPhone keep the full resolution versions of the photos you access most frequently.

Just Recently bought a new Mac, because my old PC crashed again, ( finished w/ microsoft) but now i would like to migrate data from my external drive i used on my PC to my new Mac. i loaded the Migration assitant from utilities but didnt see how to migrate the data from this external drive. which is a SEgate drive. any ideas.

Just in case you are not aware of this, you can probably use your external drive, which you presumably now no longer need for your PC, as the backup drive using the Mac's Time Machine. If you still have any Windows specific files that you want to keep, it is really easy to partition the drive so that you can keep Windows files and Mac files in different partitions.

Problem: Now my new macbook air thinks it is the old machine and that the remote disc is the mb air. Clicks want to take things to mobile me instead of iCloud, old applications launch instead of the new ones. How do I fix the mess I have made? We have a new iPad Mini. I cannot save a new Bookmark. In Safari, I go to "Share" and select "Add a Bookmark" yet when I click on the Bookmarks icon, my saved Bookmark is not there. Am I doing something wrong?

We have a new iPad Mini, and I'm having inconsistent results using Bookmarks in the Safari icon.
For a long time, on the iPad, I could only see five items under the Bookmark icons and the Bookmarks Bar was empty.
Occasionally, in Safari, the iPad would pick up and display all of the Bookmarks from the Safari browser on my iMac.
Other times, there are only a bare few Bookmarks available on the iPad, the Bookmarks Bar goes away and I cannot save a new Bookmark. It looks like I can save one, but I cannot find it after allegedly saving.
Then, all of the Bookmarks will come back and I can save a new Bookmark again. We can't figure out why all of the Bookmarks will show and then they won't.
I want to think this involves iCloud some way, but for right now, I'm stumped. Perhaps we're just too inexperienced and haven't come around the learning curve yet.

No, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue. When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab. But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back. When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.

In trying to transfer my Address Book data from my old MacBook (OS 10.6.8) to my MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5), I try to open to transferred Address Book and get the window asking if I want to add all the data; when I click yes, nothing happens.

The new Address Book still show no data. Then I tried to move the A B icon from the old computer file to the new computer icon and nothing showed up. Confused!!

I have connected all 3 devices but it seems the Migration Assistant does not have an option for us to select to migrate to an external hard drive.
