I have a mac that is running Leopard 10.5.8 and I was wondering if I could use my mom's OS Disc for her computer as she is running Snow Leopard when she bought her computer a few years ago.

I have a one-time install of Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and I have installed it onto one Mac, I have then upgraded this Mac to Mavericks through the Mac App Store. I am wondering if I am therefore allowed to install Snow Leopard using the same disc onto a second Mac?
Before you answer, please note that I have gone through most of the install process on this second Mac, and the software does not inhibit the install, henceforth, I am assuming that I am allowed to install it on the second Mac. My second question is does the install disc inhibit a second install if the copy has been activated, and would this 'activation' have been removed because the first Mac is no longer running on Snow Leopard.
I have no intention of installing Snow Leopard if it is illegal to do so a second time, I am simply interested as it would be far more convenient than buying another install disc, and having to wait 7 days or so for it to arrive.

If you upgrade to Yosemite, for example, then Snow Leopard is no longer installed on that computer. Technically and legally it can be now installed on another machine. Note, however, that if you need to erase the drive and reinstall Yosemite you must first install Snow Leopard. You could not do that if Snow Leopard was still installed on another machine.
Beyond this you are on your own, legally.

I've a Mac mini, first generation, G4 processor, running Tiger. I've recently bought an iMac 24 inch which runs Leopard. Is it possible to install Leopard on the Mac mini using the discs I got with the iMac? Thanks!

No, it is not. Disks that ship with Macs are hardware specific and will not install on different hardware. Also, it is a violation of the single user license agreement.

Hope you can help me out! The time has come to reinstall OS 10.4 on my very full, and very slow, iMac G5. Unfortunately, I can't find the install disks that came with my computer when I bought it three years ago.
My sister owns an Intel iMac (same shape as mine but with built-in camera) and still has her disks. Would it be possible to use her disks instead?

No. Aside from the fact that the Intel version of Tiger cannot boot a PPC Mac, it would also violate the software license to install on more than one CPU. You will have to purchase your won retail version of Tiger. Look for copies on eBay or at FastMac.com. Be sure to purchase only full retail discs. The package comes with three discs that have black labels with a large gray "X". A fourth disc has the XTools installer.

While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

You are making no sense at all, are you using Lion or Snow Leopard,? did you try BobTheFishermans sugegstion for booting into OSX, please answer the questions rather than your current approach.

My iMac has a bad CD drive but I was told that there is a way to install Leopard from another computer using a firewire connection between the two. I put the install CD in the other computer and rebooted it using "T" (and I see the floating firewire symbol as expected). But I don't see the install disk on the iMac. What's up?

you can try another way:
connect a firewire drive to the good Mac. Partition the drive and make the second partition as small as you can but at least 8 gigs. Mount he Leopard DVD to desktop. Launch Disk Utility and select that external drive and the restore tab. Drag the source , ie the MacOSX DVD to source window and that second small partition to the destination window. Select restore and enter your password. Wait 30 mins, restore is done. Quit all programs. Unmount that external drive. Connect to the "bad" Mac and restart it from that external drive to install Leopard OSX. You can if you want load most of your software on the first partition of the external and install your software unless of course you did a Time Machine to make it far simpler.

you will not see the audio meters from within fcp move while capturing.
If you only see the captured clip in the finder, not within fcp, there's something wrong. You might try deleting your fcp preferences

Don't expect any wonders. If you use it heavily with multiple applications running at the same time, nobody can help you. It's physics: more usage => higher energy consumption.
Here you can find some tips to reduce the battery consumption. My tip: close applications if you don't need them right now and reduce screen brightness.

Can we use Result from another query filter option in Webi to create a report using a Bex Query universe?
I need to create a report using two universes, one is Bex Query Universe and the other is Orcle universe. I have two queries, one is using Oracle universe; the other using Bex Query universe. I need to pass the Oracle data from the Oracle query to the Bex Query query to get the matched data from SAP Bex query.
I used Result from another query in the query filter panel for the query using Bex query universe. But I got an error saying that 'A filter contains a wrong value. you cannot run this query. (Error: WIS 00007). The data used in the filter on both sides are the same. they are char.
I have tested by using two queries from the same Bex query universe to see if the Result from another query filter option works. And I got the same error.
Has anyone run into the same issue and if this is possible and what should be the solution?

In that situation:
Create two queries : Oracle and BW query.
@ Report:
As you have to see result set from both the Dataproviders, correct? To achieve thise one must have common dimension objects to merge them at report and use Objects those are coming from both queries to use them in single Table/Report.
Unless you don't use Merge Dimensions, you don't get a chane to use both queries objects in single Table/Report. (It will give tooltip saying: You can't drop here -- Incompatable Objects)
In case, if you don't have common dimensions, change object definitions to Detail objects, for those required.

Say you have a report for retrieving Sales by Products for a company and showing up grand total of sales for all products too in the same report. So, how about a case where you would like to see each product's contribution to the whole sales numbers? For this, a new column could be something like
Measures.Sales*1.0/SUM(Measures.Sales)
Here Measures.Sales is the sales for each product and SUM(Measures.Sales) is nothing but the total sales ie grand total.

How to view aperture library from another computer on network?

Hi,
I'd like to simply view (not edit) my aperture library from another computer on my home network. The aperture library resides on a mac pro, and I'd like to see the images on a macbook pro to show family members. On the surface, this seems like a simple concept - as Apple TV can do this with home sharing. Further, itunes can share it's library in this manner. Is this possible?

You don't mention which OS you're using and I understand that Lion has changed some of the sharing features but what you are looking to do is doable.
Be warned that accessing an Aperture library over a network is slow and definitely not something you want to do if editing except in an emergency and you want to make triple sure that only one user is accessing the library at a time. But I regularly access libraries over wireless when I'm to lazy to walk across the house and need to check somthing out.
If you are using Snow Leopard go into System preferences->Sharing and tune on file sharing on the the Mac Pro. If you have the same user name on both systems you should have no problem accessing the library from the MBP.
If you're on Lion, you'l need to lok up how to enable file sharing. I haven't swithced so I can;r help you there.
