Upgrade Linux Server for EBS 11i

Hi All,
EBS 11i
RHEL 4.6
Our EBS 11i is currently running on HP server with RHEL 4.6 OS and a single node only. This server was bought 6 years ago and lately it is showing performance degradation. We want to migrate/upgrade to a higher end latest model of HP and make it a multi-node. But the latest HP model only support a minimum RHEL 5 version.
My question is, is cloning EBS 11i from RHEL 4.6 to RHEL 5 supported? How do I migrate EBS 11i with this kind of scenario?
Thanks a lot
Sis Inday

  • How can I do the load test for EBS 11i

    Dear Suport
    I start to try OATS.
I have used a Openscript to record the functional test and it works fine for EBS 11i.
However, I cannot directly use the script from Functional Test. Is there have any ways to convert the Functional Testing script to Load Testing script?
Since the fail of using functional script, I create a new Load Testing script in Openscript and record what I do in functional test. However, I got the below error when I record the script.
    !ENTRY oracle.oats.scripting.modules.http.proxyRecorder.ProxyRecorderQueueRunnable 2 0 2010-01-06 11:42:07.354

I have tried to copy the file, formsRecorder.jar, from C:\OracleATS\OpenScript\openscript_configuration\org.eclipse.osgi\bundles\56\1\.cp\lib to C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\ext
However, the file, formsRecorder.jar, will be deleted when record the test by openscript. (Antivirus too is disabled during record the script).
Do you have any idea for record the Load Testing script by Openscript?

  • Customer Data Hub Required for EBS 11i?

Is the Customer Data Hub required for EBS 11i to work correctly? It appears to be a supplemental product and not a required core product.

Oracle Customer Data Hub (CDH) is not a mandate for EBS users. However, it solely depends on the Organizational needs. If an Organization decides to have SSOT (Single Source Of Truth) for it's customer data they can go with CDH solution.
CDH is a complete packaged solution that allows companies to create a single, enterprise view of their customer base, by consolidating/synchronizing customer data from heterogeneous systems into a central, operational, data store. CDH alone will not suffice the requirement. CDH ties with Oracle Customers Online (OCO), Customer Data Librarian (CDL), and the Oracle Trading Community Architecture (TCA) to create a robust, scalable, central repository of duplicate-free, enriched data across a heterogeneous landscape.
    Hope this helps.

  • RHEL 6 for EBS 11i (11.5.10.2)

    Hi hussein,
I posted a thread in here before about our company buying or upgrading to a newer server which is of higher-end and with bigger CPUs and Memories.
We are currently running EBS 11i (11.5.10.2) on the current server which is about 6 years old. This is single node only and running RHEL 4.6.
Now, due to performance degradation, we are buying newer machines which will be a two-node configuration. The machine vendor said that the O.S. that it runs on will be RHEL 6.
My question is....Is RHEL 6 supported in EBS 11i? Can I clone the existing PROD EBS 11i which is on RHEL 4.6 to
the new target servers running on RHEL 6?
    Thanks a lot,
    Ms Inday

My question is....Is RHEL 6 supported in EBS 11i? No, you either need to install RHEL4 or RHEL5.
Can I clone the existing PROD EBS 11i which is on RHEL 4.6 to
the new target servers running on RHEL 6?If you install RHEL5, you can use Rapid Clone to clone from RHEL4 to RHEL5.

  • Oracle Form Builder for EBS 11i Forms

    Hi All,
I want to compile an EBS 11i forms. The EBS version is Oracle Applications : 11.5.10.2.
My question is where can I find the installer for Oracle form builder to compile my .pll file?
    Best Regards
    Akhmad H Gumas

If you want to download and install Developer 6i to your Windows client, then here is the direct link --> http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/forms/6i_rel2_xp.zip
You will need to recompile the form again on your server if the OS is Linux/Unix by referring to the docs referenced above by AsifMuhammad

  • MICR font not displayed in PDF on SUSE Linux Server for Check Writer (XML)

We are generating checks by running the Check Writer(XML) concurrent request and are not able to see MICR fonts on the Check. We downloaded the free version from IDAutomationSMICR.ttf and the fonts were registered under /usr/local/fonts/micr directory. I registered in APPS and uploaded the file IDAutomationSMICR.ttf. Am I missing any steps. The DBA's have registered the fonts under /usr/local/fonts/micr on SUSE Linux Server . The custom Checks are generated but no luck with the fonts. Please advise. Can I download MICR fonts other than IDAutomation site? Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Hari

I use version 11i, so the steps are probably different. Download a font file (gnuMICR for me). Extract it to a location of your choice on your operating system.
Follow these steps to load the MICR font to the server. (Step 11 was missing in some of the metalink documents in late 2007. I think Jan. 2008 will be OK).
    1.     Log in as XML Publisher Administrator.
    2.     Navigate to Administration->Font Files->Create Font File.
    3.     Fields are Font Name and File. For Font Name choose any descriptive name. File will browse your PC to locate the font file.
    4.     Navigate to Font Mappings->Create Font Mapping Set.
    5.     Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts. [MICR Font]
    6.     Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set. [MICR]
    7.     Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
    8.     Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add multiple fonts to a set).
    9.     Font Family is the exact same name you see in Word under Fonts. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime. [GnuMICR]
    10.     Style and weight must also match how you use the font in Windows. Normal and Normal are good defaults. [Normal, Normal]
    11.     DO NOT enter Language or Territory
    12.     Choose a value for Font Type. [Truetype]
    13.     Search for the Font you just created in step 3. [GnuMICR]
    14.     Navigate to Configuration -> FO Processing -> Font Mapping Set. Can also be done at data def and template level under Edit Configuration. Hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    15.     Select your new mapping set.
    16.     Make sure the font is not referenced under File->Properties->Custom in the RTF template file.
    17.     Select a temporary directory on your concurrent processing node (Configuration -> General). This needs to be a private area not shared by other processes, read writeable by the applmgr (owner of the $APPL_TOP file system). It should be fairly large 5 GB or 20x larger than any datafile being used. The fonts will be downloaded here the first time they are used.
    18.     Also at this site level select your font mapping set.
    19.     Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview.

  • Sizing calculator for EBS 11i

    Hi,
I want to have an official calculator regarding the hardware sizing for Oracle EBS 11i.
I found on OTN that such tool exist only for discoverer (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/discoverer/files/discoverer10_1_2_0_2_sizing_calculator.xls).
Please help me where to find a similar tool for EBS itself, not only for Discoverer.

    Hi Everyone,
We have an on-going (UAT) user acceptance test for a new setup EBS 11i on Aix 5L, for FINANCIAL MODULES(GL,AP,AR,CE,FA).
Currently, we still encountered error or bugs and need to apply some patch one by one.
What I want is a proactive way, which is a one time application of all the patches needed to run EBS 11i error free.

How do I reconcile it with the output of the following....

  • Installing LMS Content Server for EBS 12.1.3

I'm looking into setting up a Content Server for LMS.  We're on 12.1.3 and I've read Oracle Learning Management Content Server setup on Oracle 10gAS - Releases 11i and 12 [ID 427311.1].  I've installed 10g iAS in the past and understand what I need to do.  This note was updated in May of this year so I'm assuming it's up to date.  It says 'Install 10g Application server (preferably 10.1.3.0.0 )'.  How can I get version 10.1.3.0.0?
    thanks
    Sabrina

How about posting this in the LMS forum -

  • How to export 9i and import in 11g for EBS 11i

    Hi
    refered note 557738.1
    Export/import notes on Applications 11i Database 11g
    note 452783.1
Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 11g Release 1 (11.1.0)
It required the use of datadump. And upgrade the source database to 10gR2 or 11g. We cannot upgrade the source DB as end user
will continue to use the source instance and the OS is too old to support new database versionThe existing 11.5.10.2
instance run on Solaris 8 platform. They will continue to use them for production support until the new R12 instance go live.
The new platform for database will be in HP-Itanium (DB) and Linux (Web/form). The first step I plan to do is to migrate the database to new platform
and then start the R12 upgrade in new platform.
This client also know that export/import is fine from 9i to 11g as they already done in other database application by themselves.
So I want to use export/import to transfer the database from Solaris platform to HP platform.
I do not found a single note for this case. I am planning to combine two note 230627.1 for data export & import.
And 557738.1 for new database creation in new HP platform. Is there any issue need to aware?

What you have to do is to export/import the 9i database (to 9i), then upgrade to 11g.

  • Pickin a linux server for work

hey all!  my workplace is pretty windows centric, and we're deciding to slowly move towards linux and linux dev tools to save costs in licensing (cuz gcc kicks butt!)
anyways, here's the criteria i need
    1) security
    2) stability
    3) support
my co-workers do not know much about linux works, just a general idea.  i have to option of choosing whichever distro i deem best.  so far, my options include fedora, debian, ubuntu, slackware, arch.
this is a standard server that i will be running.  so...subversion, apache, ssh, mysql, standard stuff, so package availability is not a problem.
what do you guys think have having arch run as the server?  it seems like the bleeding-edgeness of arch but not make it a viable choice as a stable server.  but then again, i don't want it outdated like debian stable.
i just tried installing ubuntu on my test system.  first let me give props to all the arch developers.  you really don't appreciate the beauty of arch until you get to see how many less steps are required to compile your own kernel and install it using the package manager.  nonetheless, i haven't had anything wrong happen with ubuntu.  although i am worried about the potential problems when i try to do a dist-upgrade (since ubuntu branches off from debian-sid and back in)
anyways, do you guys have any ideas/suggestions?

As your most familiar with Arch and Slackware, I would pick one of them.
The only drawback is if paid support is going to be a big issue.  However, especially if you have  a test machine available, you'll be happiest with what you know, and most comfortable with fixing it when things happen.
However, elastic dog makes the excellent point--even though consultants are often no more knowledgeable about a subject than you are, it shows you are making best effort--it also makes the bosses more comfortable, which can be important.
Arch is as or more secure than any of the other choices, simply because it has so few services running by default.  You can use firestarter or something to build a firewall that will be similar to a default RH or SuSE one.
Arch's advantages are the small base install with an intelligent choice of base packages, and ease of updating.
The only negative is the lack of "official" support.
I use Arch at work for some non-mission critical stuff.  I use FreeBSD on some higher end servers, because I am most familiar with it.  However, at times, we need a low end machine to work as a file server on one subnet or another, and at times like that the quick, small install and ease of adding samba with pacman led me to use Arch for those machines.  On the other hand, they're running nothing but samba and they don't really do anything else.
Another brief Arch success story though--when one of the divisions had to change floors, the FreeBSD box that did DHCP for two floors had to be moved.  I prepared a small box with Arch, which probably took less than an hour from booting with the install CD, and threw it into place

  • Lost of APPS password for EBS 11i (11.5.10.2)

I need to reset APPS password in my test environment. The APPS password is now messed up and I need to find a way to reset it. I am in the process of cloning an existing environment. I can not start all the services yet. The FNDCPASS utility works only when you know a valid APPS password. However, my current APPS password is not working anymore. Is there way to accomplish this?
Greatly appreciated if anyone can help.

    Hi,
Really bad situation....although you might still come over it if you have not played around much...
Do you have any other environement with apps password working and also if you have not run autoconfig on target server? If yes then it would be easier...
Take backup of FND_USER, FND_ORACLE_USERID on target server(where you are facing issue).
    truncate these table from target.
eport these tables from some working env(source) and import it here(target) and then use apps pass of source to work here.
Below MOS note will guide you with options left:-
