UPGRADE LP7 to LP8 - What files will be overwritten?
*Installation manual says: "files with names identical to the default Logic 7 factory content files are deleted..."*
*My concern is that I will lose functions, preferences, presets, etc of mixes I have already done in LP7 when I try to use those sessions with LP7. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Anyone know what "factory content files" are overwritten during the upgrade?*

However, as always, the remedy for concern is simply to back everything up. The main thing is that what you +might possibly+ lose will not be any of your own work, but (as it says) *factory content* — IOW, Loops & Software Instruments.
Not really anything to worry about, particularly not if you're followed those discussions & have a good back-up strategy. If it turns out that somehow you lost a Software Instrument you were using (which is very unlikely) then you can put it back yourself.
And BTW — *no need to shout!*

I have an extra copy of CS2 Suite Upgrade that Adobe has said is a valid license and OK to sell to another user. I am having trouble figuring out what is the qualifying product the new owner would need to own in order to use this. The box says it is Adobe part number 18040402 and on the part label it says it upgrades CS 1.3, but on the printed box it says you must have CS 1.x.
So far I have not been able to get a clear answer from Adobe support regarding this specific part number. I also have not been able to find any info regarding this via Google. Just wondering if anyone might have some concrete info.
I don't want to tell someone this will work for CS Suite 1.0 and later discover it only works with CS
Suite 1.3.
If anyone can point me towards some conclusive info it would be much appreciated.

I am trying to download the Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 upgrade for CS6. The files will not unzip.
I am trying to download the Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 upgrade. The zipped files download, but when I try to extract the zipped files, I get an error message saying that there is already a file with the same name as the folder name I specified, and that I should specify a different name. The four zipped components are META-INF [Folder], payloads [Folder], AdobePatchInstaller [Application file\, and payloads [File]. Evidently, there is a conflict between the payloads folder and the payloads file, but I cannot be sure. All filenames came from the download.
Are you using CS6 applications ? Camera Raw 7.1 is only compatible with CS6 applications. Try this as mentioned on http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5391

I deleted the "upgraded" version and tried to reload the latest version from Firefox website. I could download it but could not run it. Computer asks for an application to run the file with, and there is none. Also, all of my system applications now no longer respond.
That does sound suspicious. You may want to run some supplemental scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

If your system is clean of malware, you could completely remove all versions of Firefox and install again.

I currently have Lion, when I upgrade to Mountain Lion, all my apps, music, videos and other files will be erased?
Lion dropped application support for PowerPC. An OS may drop or change what to use to open a file, not the file.
Of course CCC is what many have used for 10 yrs now and it is or will be $20 like SuperDuper - commercial.
Always use something like those in addition to or instead of TimeMachine. -

Don't delete your old account yet. Just setup a new one in Mail>Preferences>Accounts, little plus icon. Choose IMAP as account type, not ,mac or MobileMe.

I am currently running OSX 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro. Can I upgrade straight to Yosemite and if I can what issues will I face?
1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.

A Pages file will not open due to index.xml not found, what is up with that?
I recently saved a file on Pages 5.5.2. on my IMac hard drive. Now I find that on attempting to open it the file will not open due to index.xml not found. Hoe do I correct this?
I have this issue, as well - although perhaps in a different content. When I try to open a file I created in the previous version of Pages, I will frequently (but not always), received the "index.xml not found" message. I am very concerned that I may lose access to some of these files. The old Pages icon is still on my dashboard, although I've downloaded the new Pages (that icon only appears when I open a new document). I thought I needed to upgrade the old documents to the new Pages, but this didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? And, I'm not a techie - so you'll need to break it down for me.

Since yesterday all my usual .xls files will not open (Office for Mac 2011). CAN open .xlxs files. Default 'open with' is Microsoft Excel.app. No software updates done yesterday or the day before (or maybe a Silverlight or an Acrobat one by accident?). Have repaired disc permissions. PS I'm not a great techie so assume I don't know what you're talking about!You may need to rebuild permissions on your user account. To do this,boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: ‘resetpassword’ (without the ’s), hit return, and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.

Since Encore will only write to a disc, disc image, or Flash, what software will convert a NCOR file to other video formats?
Now that I have more information, here's the issue in summary:
A coworker is working on a training program for facilitators, total 3.5 hours long.
Part of it includes a video, after which the viewer should be able to select one of several vignettes, smaller videos. At the conclusion of those, the viewer should be able to print a certificate.
The coworker created a video in Adobe Premier, and then accompanying menus in Adobe Encore. If we heard them right, the web developers said that the entire project (videos and menus) must be in MPEG-4, and we discovered that Encore can't do that. Encore could do it in Flash; the developers do not want that.
I think what is going on here is a misunderstanding. It sounds like they want an interactive presentation. The video can be MPEG-4 from Premier. The Menu interactivity is something else, since MPEG-4 is not interactive. Flash is the only way I know of to keep the interactivity. Someone needs to ask the web developers what they are expecting.
What do you guys suggest, besides a plain old HTML menu page with hyperlinked buttons on it? -
