Upgrade LR5 to PS CC...

Hey,
I bhought my LR5 few weeks ago and i'd like to upgrade to PS CC.
LR5 is included in PS CC and I'd not be happy to pay LR5 twice...
Is there a discount system for upgrade like this ?

Old Develop Module in new upgrade LR5

I am trying out the 30 day LR 5 trial to see if I would like to upgrade. For some reason my Develop Module contains the same tools as my older version, though I know I shouldn't even see a "brightness" tool... How do I fix this and get the new tools so I can continue my 30 day trial?

You are probably viewing photos edited in Process Version 2010.
Update the photos to PV 2012 and access the new tools

Be warned that there are big differences between PV2010 and PV2012 and you may not always like the changes.

So it's up to you whether you want to convert all existing photos to PV2012 in one step - or if you want to convert them one/several at a time.
New photos imported into LR5 will automatically be edited in PV2012 so there will be no conversion required and the tools in the Develop module will be the new ones as expected.

Hi, LR6 dowload was successfully completed. But I have this problem: photos don't show up in the development module (light blue image crossed by two diagonals instead) whereas they are correcly diplayed in the library module. Can you help resolve this issue please?

I am not interested in a month paieement, I would like to buy the license at all, I already have LR4. How to proceed ?

I pay $74 monthly for CC yet still had to buy LR5 License

I'm paying nearly 50% more in Europe than if I were US based for Adobe CC. Yet when I open Lightroom 5 I am forced to buy an upgrade license.
I have spent at least 3 hours online talking to Adobe Agents in 'chat' windows, all Indian, all clueless, all reading from a prepared checklist so they all give the same, wrong, advice.

I've allowed Adobe to TWICE access my machine remotely.
After three weeks I've had no choice but to comply to the demand that pops up when I open LR5 CC and pay the upgrade license. Not one Adobe representaitive could fix the problem. I askwed again and again for them to simply extend the trial license to enable me to continue workin whilst we found a solution.
Adobe REFUSED.
So for three weeks I have been trying to prepare images in Photoshop for presentations and as a result (I'm not great with PS) I've lost a client, a $6k gig and a lot of sleep. I have now been forced to pay the $85 fee Adobe UK charge to upgrade LR5 from LR4.4. And yes, I still have to pay the full $74 per month
At times I feel like I make a living in spite of Adobe, and not with the assistance of their, unfortunately brilliant, tools.
I am now forced to take Adobe to court to get my money refunded.
Should it be this hard?

The radial filter looked useful so during the 30 day trial I'd committed to LR5 about 2500 images, they can't be loaded with the changes into LR4.4
Man when an alternative is realistic Adobe are going to feel the wrath of so many people. What a shame they have no sense of customer service, though seems par for the course ...Microsoft, Apple, Google, Paypal, they all deserve each other

LR5 catalog error message after Windows 7 OS repair

I had BSOD happening shortly after installing 5.4 update first and second Canon scanner driver for windows 7 a couple days later. I wasn't sure which program was creating the BSOD so I tried a few things and BSOD was getting worse. I restored comp to later restore point when I created a LR5 restore point. Still had BSOD. So I just did a windows repair. When I got back to desktop the LR5 was back to 5.3 and Canon scanner was unplugged. So far its been 2 days and no BSOD. Now I went to start LR got an error message "Unexpected error opening catalog" I'm guessing since it was rolled back it can't reconize the catalog. I don't care for losing it because I did all the work I needed to do. So I can just start with new imports, but I can't open LR. Where do I go from here. Should I create a new catalog or update LR to 5.4 and see what happens. I hope it is not the update that was creating the BSOD. Any help thanks

My original post states I had upgraded LR5 to 5.4 and later installed Canon scanner shortly on another day. My conclusion was that my Canon scanner was the culprit because my original cd packaging was out of date which I did not realize until I tried to install it on my Wins 7 and message box said it was not going to work or compatible. I proceeded to Canon website to get a driver that will work with Wins 7 and installed it, a day later after using it to scan documents and started to get BSOD. It's been a few days now with no scanner installed and everything is working fine so far. Maybe by the weekend I will try to re-install the scanner or by a new one compatible with Wins 7.

Develop module disabled - NON creative cloud LR5

I'm having some trouble with LR5.
I purchased LR 3 in 2010 and then upgraded LR5 last year . . . I have both serial numbers. I recently upgraded to an iMac and loaded the trial version on LR5, but I'm not part of creative cloud as there isn't a reason for my to do so, since I have already purchased the items I use. Anyways, when I brought LR up today I received this message
"Develop module is disabled.
Please renew your membership to reactivate the Develop module."
In the past I know that I've been prompted for my serial numbers, but I'm not receiving that message! Please help!!!

You probably downloaded the LR 5 Creative Cloud trial in error. your serial numbers will not activate. Uninstall the existing version, this process will not affect your catalog, preferences or Personal files, then download the latest version of LR from the link below. Install and insert the serial numbers to activate.

i have a LR4... bought the upgrade LR5, but it's not installing, says the lightroom_5_.dm not recognised. what is missing here.?

When installed, LR CC will not start.

I just upgraded LR5.7 to LR CC, but when installed, LR CC will not start. No error messages, no hour glass thinking. Nothing. It's just dead. I'm using Windows7. Any one else had the same problem?

You will get the Lightroom 6 upgrade if you choose to purchase the upgrade. Historically, it has cost about $79 for the upgrade. Moving from Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 6 will involve creating a copy of your existing catalog, but everything else should remain normal. Releases within a version (i.e. Lightroom 5.1, 5.2, etc.) are free updates to users who have purchased the version. But when a major release, such as Lightroom 6, comes there will be an upgrade cost involved.
As a side note, historically if someone purchases Lightroom within 30 days of a new major release they will qualify for a free upgrade. Adobe never announces release dates for new versions. It is sort of anticipated (I think) that there will be a Lightroom 5.7 before Lightroom 6 is released. But that is only my thinking. I'm only a user who has no inside information. And even if I did have inside information, I wouldn't be allowed to divulge it. That is the Adobe way of doing business.

Sorry, maybe I don't understand, but why do you feel compelled to subscribe to CC if you already have a permanent Lightroom 5 licence?

Problems after upgrading catalog from LR4 to LR5

After upgrading a LR 4 catalog to LR5, I moved some files around between sub folders. I then went to sync up the parent folder. The dialog box said that I would be importing 12,000 photos and deleting 12,000 missing photos. My folder structure for a ctalog is a parent folder named for the year and the sub folders with the date and shoot description. I was synchronizing the parent (year) folder. When it finished, the folder structure was correct and the photos were in their new(correct) folders. However, all of my LR4 adjustments that had been made in LR4 were gone. There was no history either. It was like I was importing for the first time.
I upgraded the original catalog again and the photos were in the original locations just like the first time I upgraded. I tried to sync an individual folder and it imported 50 new files and deleted 50 missing files. Again the LR adjustments were gone. Any suggestions on how to sync an upgraded catalog without losing my prior version adjustments?

Yes, synchronizing is not the tool you should be using in this case, when you move photos from one folder to another. The proper method is to reconnect your photos in Lightroom after you moved them via: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm. But your current catalog has lost its edit information, so this will not help on your current catalog. So ...
I hope you have a backup of the catalog file before you did the synchronization, or otherwise you will have to upgrade your LR4 catalog again. Open one of those and then reconnect as in the link.
As side advice, perhaps you might want to consider using an organizing technique that does NOT require moving phtoos/folders from here to there. You might want to consider using organizing and searching via keywords and captions and other metadata, which does not require moving photos, and does not require re-linking photos, and gives you the ability to place photos in more than one "category" (keyword), rather than with folders where a photo can be in at most one "category" (folder)
