Upgrade Macbook 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

We have a MacBook 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.5.8. We would like to run iCloud and latest version of iTunes so that we can sync iphone to mac. I believe we need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but we're not sure if our MacBook can run this? Can anyone advise if the below upgrade will work?

With 10.6.8 Snow Leopard you can run the latest iTunes but not iCloud. You need to have 10.7 Lion for the basic iCloud or 10.8 Mountain Lion for the full iCloud. While 10.7.5 Lion will allow you to access iCloud you will be limited unless you can upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion.

The only observations are that the backup drive is deemed too small and the quite long list of diagnostic reports dated between Jan 18, 2015 (which I believe is the day I upgraded to Yosemite) & today the latest Yosemite update was installed on Jan 28, 2015

If by "posted to you" you mean shipped, yes. Usually UPS or FedEx is used by Apple. Note that you may need to access the Online Store that's for your country. It's been reported that if you have a MobileMe account, it may be free from Apple.
If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.

Unfortunately no, I have e exact same problem. Our ancient laptops are to the full extent of upgrading available for its time..., I'm trying to find an older version of origin to download to my Mac at the moment... Take my email if you want and if I come across anything ill send you the link. The only other thing I can think of is to upgrade the entire Mac software to the newest version but that includes wiping out the entire system and hard drive and locating the software disc to do that and I'm not even sure if it will process all of that information since apple conciders our laptops "vintage" there's no way to go back because they don't support the software for these older ones anymore.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck. As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.” As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#. Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

Is it possible to use a MacBook Pro 9.1 with Snow Leopard

Hallo,
i tryed out to install a macbook pro 9,1 with Snow Leopard, but by loading the drivers he stops with booting.
The version i try out is 10.6.8 and i tryed to boot from an extern drive also with 10.6.8 with the newest updates.
I hope to get some tipps i can try out.

While the 2011 MBP's that shipped with Lion can be made to run Snow Leopard as long as you have the appropriate installer disk for 10.6.7 or later, yours is a 2012 MBP and most likely can never be made to run Snow Leopard because the necessary hardware support drivers (e.g., USB 3.0 support) simply aren't a part of that OS.
