Upgrade Mess. Any solutions?
I finally got my new (crossover) FCPS discs and thought now I might actually resolve all the issues I've had with Compressor. (It has almost never worked for me.) So I installed the new set, and then started installing all the upgrades I've been waiting to install, such as DVD 4.1.1, FCP 5.1.2, Compressor 2.3, Motion 2.1.2... Well, I installed Cinema Tools 3.1.2 and then went to the next one on the list - the CompressorUpdate2.3.dmg. First I had to upgrade to Quicktime 7.1.3, I did that, then the Compressor update. That seemed to go ok, and I had to restart after that. I did and went on to update the others in the FCS pack... nothing will work. I can't get any of the other updates to open! And when I look at the Compressor version I now have it's 2.1, not 2.3 (maybe I need 2.2 first? duh) but though I can open Compressor (the app), I can't even get any of the other FCS upgrades to open. Once again Compressor feels like the kiss of death. Or was it QuickTime?
This is the statis of my software versions: QT 7.1.3, Cinema Tools 3.1.2, Soundtrack Pro 1.1, Batch Monitor 2.1, Compressor 2.1, FCP 5.1, Apple Loops 1.4, DVDSP 4.1.0, Apple Qadminist. 2.1, Apple Qmaster 2.1, Motion 2.1, LiveType 2.1
I'm on a quad G5 and I noticed other people in very recent threads having trouble with Compressor are using G5s as well.
I'm ready for some advice; I have a big project looming and was trying to (finally) get Compressor straightened out, assuming that would happen with the recent upgrades...

I would do a clean install after backing up critical files.
Then install Tiger, and run the software updater to get to 10.4.8.
Then install studio, and run the software updater to 5.1.3.
Best way to do it.
Takes time, but if the project is critical do it.

Western Digital have been assisting the users that lost data by providing Recovery software to them, I don't know what else they are doing. Contact them.
And if you are running any WD software that may have accompanied the drive stop now and remove it permanently. -
Losing Printer Options after Snow Leopard Upgrade? Any solution?
I've lost the ability to print multiple pages on one page with my Samsung SCX-4500 printer. The only factor that changed is upgrading to Snow Leopard.
I've reinstalled printer drivers but the Page Setup/Layout drop down screen is not available.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have ideas as to how to solve it?
I hate wasting paper and the multipage function was a factor in purchasing this printer from Apple.

This ability shouldn't be tied to the specific printer you are using.

What application are you printing from? Some applications don't have a Page Setup.
The Layout panel is in the menu that contains the current application's name. For instance, if you are printing from Safari and the print dialog is expanded (use the disclosure triangle to the right of the printer's name if it isn't), clicking on "Safari" will show the Layout menu.

Old mail in Lion OS X is not loading. Any solution?
I have upgraded Snow Leopard to Lion, and now in mail, and I can receive and send email. However, I cannot load to view my old email (pop) which had been received in Snow Leopard. I see the list of old emails, but it just doen't load. I can't locate the mail folder either. And I didn't have a back up. Is there a way to retrive the folder, in case it was deleted during the upgrade? Any solution??

following upgrade to osx 10.8.2 on my mac mini I can no longer connect to icloud, I wouldn't mind so much but I have come to rely on th eicloud services to manage my work and home services, has any1 else experienced this and has any1 any solutions as this is messed up all of my work relations?
Had the same problem this morning after updating to 10.8.2. Mail was finding my dot-mac account as always, but System Preferences popped up and said my iCloud password was incorrect. Did the "forgot password" reset, but still had the same problem. Then I went to icloud.com in Safari, logged in with the new password, it worked no problem. So I went back to the icloud preference pane, signed out of icloud, answered yes to all the warnings about data being deleted from my mac, blah blah blah, then re-signed in to icloud. Everything worked. I did have to set up my icloud account in Mail again, which now lists the account mailbox as "iCloud", and not "mac.com" as it did before. But so far, everything is working (fingers crossed.)

After iOS 5 upgrade my "artists" are all screwed up on my iPhone but are fine on my iTunes. ANY SOLUTIONS?? HELP!!
I had a similar problem to you that I have since solved.
At first only some albums/songs were missing artwork but they all showed up fine in itunes. I went into itunes and did the view where the album art is displayed next to the album in a list, middle option for viewing. I found that on several 1-2 songs did not have the artwork attached and so that was the cause of it not showing up on my iphone. However after I got all that solved I found that the artworks were all messed up. Much like you described many songs had the complete wrong artwork and some songs on the same album had different artworks or the same artwork showed up on multiple albums.
I could only come up with resyncing my iphone to solve it. I only use one playlist for my iphone so that I can sort of do manual management and only have to deal with one playlist. So I unchecked the playlist and did a sync to clear off all the audio. Then I rechecked the playlist and did a sync to reload everything and after that was done everything appeared correctly.
I didn't notice if this was affecting any of my purchased albums, I don't have that many so I didn't think about it but affected a lot of them. I hope this helps in some way and that you can get it working again. -
after upgrade to mavericks: time machine keeps asking for my back up disk and won't open unless i plug in the disk. any solutions?

As I mentioned before I tried the "disk password" and the "Time capsule Password" options to see if I can start the back up again or start a new backup. Neither worked. So I tried the firmware down grade, but like you said that did not work. I then decided to try the "Account password" option and I have never used this option before becasue it states that if there is data on the drive it would not be acessable after creating an account. Since I wiped out the disk that was nno problem. When I created the new account and choose the drive it asked for the user name and password. I entered the info for the new account I just created(FYI this has nothing to do with your login username and password), bingo! It worked!
Now I have two partitions on the TC disk. The old one and now the new account. I am guessing this is to be used if I have multiple computers, which I don't.
I any case, I am going to wipe out everything again and try again to do a backup the way I had it before. -
I recently upgraded to iCloud 3.0 on home computer and now i get error messages when I open Outlook 2010. It worked fine before with iCloud 2.1.2. Any solutions? I'm on Windows 7, Outlook 2010.

I have an iphone 3GS and I have upgraded it to iOS 6. Since then it doesn't work properly.
Every now and then it has been restarting by itself and requiring restore. When I connect it to itunes it restarts again and again without letting me take any action. Is there any solution?Hey, There are afew things you can try.
- Simply turn your phone off and back on again
- Hold down your home button and your lock button and let goes as soon as the screen goes black (Phone will power down) - Then turn on your phone and hey presto!
- Back up your iPhone to your PC, then restore it..
this ones last cause I think you may have tried it already..
- Close all open applications

After I upgrded to iOS 5, the category of other is taking up 15.3 GB of space. Prior to the upgrade, I had approx. 15GB of free space on my 64 GB iPad. My concern is that the only solution to this problem that occurred from the "upgrade" is that I have to do a factory reset. If I do a factory reset, there are two big pain points.
1) The amount of time that it will take to get all of my stuff back onto the iPad. When I first got the iPad, it took about 2 days for the music, videos, and photos to load.
2) Re-organizing my apps. I currently have my 229 apps organized into 11 folders and 8 screens. I know this is a lot of apps, but I don't want to have to go through the struggle of getting it all organized as it is today. Is there any way to get all of the apps organized the same way post-reset that will not involve a whole lot of work by me?
I have tried to call Apple support to get help on this, but I have gone through 4 phone calls with hold times averaging 45 minutes before speaking to someone. After all of this time and effort, their solution is a factory restore and do all the work myself.Hi again
The problem isn´t solved but we now know what it is.
Because I couldn´t upgrade the last 1-2 times with iTunes I though the problem was my iPod touch 3. generation, so when I heard that Apple couldn´t find or re-create the problem(s), then I flipped out. Sorry about that.
Because it looks as the problem belong to the Philips speakersystem (real name is DCM 580).
So when I received my touch back today and after speaking with Apple - DK, I looked at Philips support and found a firmware upgrade to the speakersystem from Sept. 23, 2011. Did upgrade my speakersystem and after that the rechargesystem through the dockconnection worked again. And at this afternoon on the homepage of my speakersystem, Philips tells us, that they have created a firmware update that only needs approval and then will be released at the homepage. So it looks at the whole problems was to some compatibility problems with the speakersystem after upgrading to iOS 5.0.
Its not easy to know where to start when 2 or more units are involved these days
Looked in the mirrow then I ofcourse know very well that we allways shall look for firmware and drive updates before anything else. This time I missed that because I have upgraded several time since February and uptil the day before upgrading to iOS 5.0 and none of thise upgrades had any needs for speakersystem upgrades.

I have upgraded to Lion OS only to find that my NAS (Iomega Home Media Network hard drive) does not work. It tells me that it is not configured. Are there any solutions . Have Iomega sorted out the problem?

ChiponnThere's been an update for OSX ML which addresses the issue for installing Windows 8 on bootcamp.
It's NOT recommended that you Upgrade.. However, the way to get the drivers is:
You'll need an external USB drive formatted as FAT for this.
1) In OSX, start the Bootcamp Assistant
2) Press Next
3) UNTICK 'Remove WIndows 7 or Later Version'
4) TICK Download the Latest Windows Support Software from Apple
5) Insert USB drive
6) Press CONTINUE
The drivers should download, and copy a WIndowsSupport folder onto the USB drive.
I did notice that Windows 8 still requires beta drivers for some aspects such as VGA (the Radio HD Card), which you can get on the AMD website.
Futhermore, why are you using Windows 8 "32" bit when you blatently have a powerful 64bit?

with Yosemite, Apple have upgraded CUPS to 2.0, and CUPS work different. So you need to change one think in configuration.
open terminal, and write the following commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
you asked for the password for superuser
sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
after this check in print queue if the printer is ready and not in pause mode.
The printer now should work, if the printer only print in B&W you need to change the configuration in CUPS web interface.
try http://localhost:631/ ; if you receive a error telling the web interface is disabled, type in terminal services the following
cupsctl WebInterface=yes
after this try again http://localhost:631/
after this choose in the web page "Adding Printers and Classes", bellow the CUPS for Administrators title.
in the new page, choose manage printers; after this choose your printer.
in the page of printer choose from the second combobox the option "set default options";
in the option page, change the color mode from monochrome to color, and save hitting the button "set default option", you be asked for a user and password with admin privileges.
After this your print is ok.
