Upgrade & Migrate from V11.1.1.3 to V11.1.2.2

Hi All,
Currently we are using Hyperion Essbase Server V11.1.1.3 in Windows Server 2003 R2.
We are in a plan to Upgrade & Migrate to Essbase Server V11.1.2.2 in Windows Server 2008.
We are only using Essbase w/o Shared services.
Could you please provide me the below information:
(1) Whether LCM Utility can be used to perform this Upgrade & Migration from V11.1.1.3 to V11.1.2.2 ( not using the Shared Services)?
(2) Any documents w.r.t this Upgrade & Migration using LCM Utility?
Regards,
Swathi.

  • Upgrade / Migration from 32bit

    Hi,
    we want to upgrade our ZCM 11.2.3 Server (Single Primary), running SLES 11 SP1 32-bit to a new server, running SLES11 SP3.
    Somehow, we are confused about the different scenarios.
    What would be the best migration scenario?
    Thanks
    Jrgen

    There is a section in the "Disaster Recovery Guide" that talks about how
    to replace an existing server with a new server.
    You should be able to follow those steps to replace an existing SLES SP1
    32-bit server with a new SLES SP2 64-bit Server. (Don't think SLES SP3
    is supported until 11.2.4, but far from certain about my memory on SLES
    SPs and dot support.)
    Then you can upgrade your new 11.2.3 Server to 11.3
    There is a Migration Utility with 11.3 that is supposed to be usable on
    11.2.x but I'm not sure all the steps are fully documented in all cases.
    Perhaps it does, but the steps in the disaster recovery guide have been
    tested for years and leave your original server fully untouched so it is
    quite safe.

  • Upgrade + migration from nw04 on windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008

    Dear all,
    I need to upgrade and migrate my nw04 java system from windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008.
    From the PAM I can see that NW04 is not supported on windows 2008 and that nw04s (7.0) is not supported on windows 2000.
    So, which is the correct upgrade path? Do I need an intermediate win 2003 server which is supported from both the releases?
    Thanks and regards in advance
    Federico

    Hello my friend
    This will be a very interesting project for sure. As you know, kernel 640 is not supported on win2008 and 700 is not supported on win2000, so here there must be a win2003 as a transition platform for this upgrade+ migration, not to mention migration from 32bit to x64 is also involved. You didn't mention the DB versions in source and target systems, as well as the SAP product you're trying to go with. Here's a brief checklist right now for what I can think of, once you're back with more details then let's make it intact:
    I assume your source OS/DB is win2000SQL2000 32bit, target one is win2008SQL2008 x64.
    1. Install a win2003 x64 server and SQL2000 32bit;
    2. Install a new SAP instance same as your source system release in 32bit compatible mode;
    note: if the system being migrated is BW, then be aware of that you might want to bring new features in SQL2008 of row compression and table partitions.
    3. Detach the source DB from old SQL2000, and attach it to new SQL2000; some post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool). Now you've finish a migration from win2000 to win2003 32bit;
    4. Start upgrading NW04 to 7.0, 640 to 700, find details in upgrade guide; Now you have your 700 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2000 32bit;
    note: since release 701(700 EHP1) is available now, which you might want to upgrade instead of 700.
    5. Change the collation 850BIN2 for SQL2000 32bit, detach DB;
    6. Since migration from 32bit to x64 cannot be done smoothly, now you have to uninstall everything and reinstall win2003 and SQL2008 x64, followed by a new 700 or 701 instance;
    7. Attach the source DB, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool); Now you have your 700 or 701 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2008 x64;
    8. Detach the SQL2008 DB;
    9. Now go to your target win2008 OS, install SQL 2008 x64 and new 700 or 701 instance;
    note: there might be some restrictions for NW 7.0 on win2008, go with the latest release (SR3 or newer).
    10. Attach DB to this final OS/DB version: win2008 x64+SQL2008 x64, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool).
    Helpful?

  • DB Upgrade+Migrate from 10.1 to 11.2 using IMPDP with network_link param

    Dear all,
    I would like to upgrade and migrate my 10.1.0.5 DB on old server to 11.2.0.2 on new server.
    Here is the background info:
    Old server:
    OS : Redhat Linux AS 2.1
    DB Version : 10.1.0.5 (32 bit)
    No RAC
    New Server:
    OS : OEL 5.5
    DB Version : 11.2.0.2
    RAC
    ASM
    What I have done so far:
    1. Create new clustered 11Gr2 DB on new server.
    2. Pre-create tablespaces on new DB.
    3. Migrate 10.1.0.5 to 11.2.0.2 using IMPDP.
    impdp system/******* DIRECTORY=dump_file_dir NETWORK_LINK=DWH_DBLINK LOGFILE=log_file_dir:DWH_import_20110621.log FULL=Y SERVICE_NAME=dwhdb.xxx.xxx TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=replace cluster=N exclude=statistics
    4. After IMPDP complete, invalid objects and components are found, run utlrp.sql no help
    SQL> select owner, count(*) from dba_objects where status = 'INVALID' group by owner;
    OWNER COUNT(*)

    5. Check SYS's invalid objects, e.g. DBA_OUTLINE_HINTS, after tracing the reason, find outln.ol$hints is replaced by 10.1.0.5 version. I think it is due to the IMPDP's "TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=replace" parameter.
    Others invalid objects like WMSYS.WM$ENV_VARS, also replaced by old version.
    What should I do now?
    Do I need to run upgrade script after DB migration using IMPDP?
    Is the migration procedure correct?
    Please advise
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    It looks like you've messed up the Non User (Oracle default user) data and/or metadata i.e sys, system, wksys.
    How many non Oracle default user do you have? and how big is the database? If you're using this method I'm assuming the data is not really big.
    I personally will not do full export/ import across different version, its better to just export the non default Oracle user schema as you might ended up messed up the sys objects, etc
    What you might do is
    - drop the 11g database and start from beginning again but exclude Oracle default user e.g sys,system, etc
    - or try run catupgrd.sql script (this will drop and recreate the objects), -this may or may not be fixing your invalid components
    Cheers

  • Upgrade/Migratie from Interconnect to ESB

    Hi,
    Does anybody have any experience in migrating application mappings from interconnect to esb? We want to see if we can fase-out interconnect and start working with esb (with or without bpel) instead.
    At this point we have several applications mapped with aq and ftp adapters. Are these portable into the esb? Our current xml docs are validated against DTD docs. I guess we would have to convert this to schema docs am I right?
    Kind regards,
    Albert SIkkema

    Albert, there is no migration tool available, however there is a JCA adapter that allows you to link your interconnect environment with your ESB environment so that you can run both in parallel and slowly over time migrate message flows from Interconnect to ESB.

  • Migrating from CUCM 8.6 to CUCM 10.0 - Do I have to upgrade presence as well?

    Hello Raees,
    I've got a question regarding the Migration from CUCM 8.6 to 1.0, I went through the below "Ask the Expert" article.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12103966/ask-expert-cisco-unified-communications-manager-cucm-version-100
    My question is, the CUCM 10.0 upgrade mentions the following on page 22
    "Refresh upgrade of Unified Communications Manager nodes only
    Complete the high-level tasks listed in this section when you want to perform a refresh upgrade of only the
    Unified Communications Manager nodes in your network. When you upgrade Unified Communications
    Manager nodes without upgrading IM and Presence nodes, ensure that the installed version of the IM and
    Presence Service is compatible with the new version of the Unified Communications Manager software."
    I would only like to Upgrade the CUCM nodes but the client is using Presence 8.6 as well, would I have to upgrade Presence 8.6 to something else as well or can I just upgrade to CUCM 10.0 and the presence 8.6 would work with it, if I have to upgrade Presence as well then what version of Presence would I have to upgrade to and for the "Refresh Upgrade for Presence" can you mention the SKU that I got to get off the Product Upgrade Tool.
    Since it's going to be a Refresh Upgrade for CUCM from 8.6 to 10.0 can you as well provide me with the SKU for the upgrade that I got to purchase, I can see two of them as follows:
    UCM-10.X-SW-K9-XU=
    CUCM Software Version 10.X for PUT Only, Export Unrestricted
    UCM-10.X-SW-K9=
    CUCM Software Version 10.X for PUT Only
    Thanks
    Aamer

    Thank you for the reply Chris,
    I have a few more questions with regards to what you mentioned in your reply, I'd be glad if you could clarify:
    I have not dealt with IMP before...
    1) is it like a plugin that runs on CUCM instead of a full fledged server or is it a stand alone server like CUPS (just renamed/rebranded).... I have till date been dealing with CUPS as a stand alone server that integrates with CUCM via the CUCM -> System-> Application Server Option.
    2) If it's a plug-in then how would the upgrade be done from the CUPS Stand Alone to this IMP that runs within the CUCM Server or would it be a fresh installation or some activation of services within CUCM... and if it's a stand alone server then what Upgrade Image do I need to upgrade CUPS 8.6.4 to IMP 10.0 or 10.5.
    I'm sorry but the upgrade path for CUPS 8.6.4 to IMP 10.0/10.5 is not clear for me, could you help me understand the migration for CUPS 8.6.4 to IMP 10.0/10.5..... could you as well advise any documentation that shows detailed steps for the upgrade from CUPS 8.6.4 to IMP 10.0/10.5... the CUCM upgrade is clear to me from the Upgrade Guide.
    Thank you

    Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage.  In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track.  Everything worked fine on Windows 7.  So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility.  As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
    So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
    So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

  • Do you run Pre-Upgrade Assistant when migrate from 10.1 to 10.2

    Hello,
    I tried to upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2 on Windows. Base on installation guide, you have to install 10.2 in a separate ORACLE_HOME, then run utlu102i.sql through SQL before run DBUA. Since I installed 10.2 without create start database because SID is same as 10.1. How to run pre-upgrade assistant? Or should I setup new SID for 10.2 and change it back after migrate database from 10.1 to 10.2.
    Your assistance will be appreciated,

    I'd suggest to check the "manual upgrade/migration" method described in upgrade doc.
    As a summary:
    utlu102.sql is just a step to verify some prereqs needed before going to 10.2
    You'll need to shutdown your 10.1 DB. Copy your .ora files from 10.1.to 10.2; adjust them appropriately.
    Set your Oracle_home to 10.2; keep same SID. Startup upgrade, then run catpatch.sql (if i remember correctly).
    All these steps are well described in the manual.

  • Upgrade Call Manager from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrate from MCS to UCS...

    We are upgrading UCM from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrating from MCS to UCS. We used UCM 8.5 OVA (7500 user) and migrated to UCS.
    Once migrated to UCS we upgraded UCM to 10.5(1). We wanted to use OVA to accommodate 10,000 users, hence took backup of 10.5(1) cluster and installed new servers with new 10.5(1) OVA (10,000 users).
    While doing DRS restore, system we were not able to perform a restore. It seems UCM is not recognizing the XML file. It is strange as we took the back from UCM 10.5(1) and trying to restore same version, only difference is upgrade was done with 7500 user OVA and we are now trying to install 10,000 user OVA.
    Has anyone run into similar issue? any help will be great.
    Thank You.

    This thread is 5 months old but doesn't seem resolved...
    I ran into this same scenario last week. Was using the same SFTP server for backups and restores during migration from 7.1(5) to 10.5 and during final rebuild/restore of the "to-be" production 10.5 Publisher, the DRS server was unresponsive and blamed the Master Agent or SFTP server. I had restarted Master and Local agent repeatedly, and regenerated ipsec certs to no avail.
    TAC suggested I try a different SFTP server (which I already had, with the same files), and try deleting the .xml files that were included with the backup (drfComponent.xml and processhost.xml). I installed TitanFTP, per TAC's recommendation, deleted the processhost.xml file, regenerated the ipsec certificate one last time, restarted DRF Master, and then DRF Agent, and was able to start a DRS Restore.
    Try the above process if you're still having issues.

  • Upgrade and migration from Netware to Linux best practice

    Hi folks,
    We've been running NSM 2.5 for a few years on Netware and have been very satisfied with the product and performance. We are planning to migrating to SLES11 with OES11 very soon to finally move away from Netware and I have some issues I can't seem to find answers to. Of course I want to use NSM to move my home directories from my Netware to my SLES so I want this working well when we migrate.
    I've searched but not found a good resource to show how to move the NSM engine from a Netware server to a Linux server with best practices. Anyone have experience with this and any gottchas?
    The other question is of course is to upgrade NSM to a new version before or after the move to Linux/OES11? We are at Ver 2.5.0.43 and want to move to the latest version. Upgrade procedure and best practices would be handy.
    The last of course is NSM compatible with SLES/OES11? I presume it is and certainly hope so because we want to move all of our users to SLES11 NSS.

    The NSM 3.0.x Engine setup process actually handles the migration from
    NSM 2.5 fairly easily. Our 3.0 Installation Guide (available at
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/storagemanager3 ) includes all the
    information you should need regarding migration, including the
    suggestions I'll list here.
    You'll want to leave NSM 2.5 running during the migration so that the
    NSM 3.0 setup wizard can connect to that Engine and import its policies
    and pending events. You'll also want to have as few pending events as
    possible in NSM 2.5 -- deferred deletes are fine, but all pending events
    will slow down the migration process, since they'll have to be
    transferred over.
    > The other question is of course is to upgrade NSM to a new version

    Again, this information is available in the 3.0 Installation Guide. To
    migrate from 2.5 to 3.0.x, you'll have to have at least one OES11 server
    in your tree to install it on; but you'll also have to leave the NSM 2.5
    Engine running on its Netware host long enough to migrate from it.
    > The last of course is NSM compatible with SLES/OES11? I presume it is

    We are about to release version 3.0.4 of NSM, which provides full
    support for OES11 on SLES11. The NFMS Support Team can also provide you
    with builds of NSM 3.0.3 which support OES11; if you need those for
    early testing, please send an email to storagemanager[at]novell[dot]com.
    Hope this helps!

  • Upgrade/Migrate Essbase Standalone from 9.3.1.0 to 11.1.2.2

    I've got a standalone 9.3.1 instance that we want to take to 11.1.2.2.  For us, the most cost-effective way is to patch 9.3.1 to a release we can migrate from, compatible with 11.1.2.2. So it's 9.3.1 to 9.3.1.6/9.3.1.7 in place and then to 11.1.2.2 on new hardware.
    My concern is the move to 9.3.1.6.  Has anyone done this, and what are the pain points? My users are only in Essbase (security).  I believe I've read they need to get out of Essbase before going to the 11.1.2.2 HSS/Essbase scenario (HSS required for install/startup?)
    Anything that I *shouldn't* do?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Vince

    If it is standalone and only Essbase personally I see no point in patching and then upgrading to 11.1.2.2, I would prefer to have a clean install and then migrate the application as if you moving to 11.1.2.2 then no doubt it will be new hardware and OS.
    One possible method would be to install and configure 11.1.2.2 then use the EAS migration wizard to migrate the Essbase applications, data would need to be migrated separated.
    You would also need to consider security if you are moving to Shared Services security in 11.1.2.2
    It may be worth discussing your options with a consultant as there important points that should be covered which is probably not for a forum.,
    Cheers
