I've encounter the same problem when upgrade my MuVo TX FM to Firmware .22.03, when I play songs, sometimes, the playback stops, the time counter still change, but there is no sound.
Moreover, the capacity of my MuVo TX FM changed from 24M to 235M, Has anybody else have the same issue?
Can anyone give me some suggestion? I've formatted the player 5 times today. Must I Downgrade to the lower version of firmware?
I noticed that someone require the .9.0 FW, here is the official download link for it.

and the playback problem seems disappeared.
Maybe you can have a try.

• Upgraded muvo tx...new PROBL

I posted earlier how i couldn't turn on my player. Well, creative support suggested that I upgrade my firmware which I just did. THough i can turn it on and stuff now, the new problem is that the volume levels are all messed up. For example, level volume is about level 8 level volume before the upgrade. Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it's
thanks

You can only fix it by going back to a previous firmware version - Creative have changed the volume scales from 0-40 to 0-25 by chopping off the bottom 5 levels.

This is part of the message since you cannot post such a long message in posting.
This should show how lost you might be with your warranty. If you install the Firmware Upgrade .8.02 your player might be useless. There is no way to make it work again. Not really. If you understand what Creative seems not to do. So dear user - buy a new player. If you want to know what the solution is to make your player work again post here. If there are enough postings I will explain it here. Too sad that Creative does not do it. It is their job not mine... But again - I am not talking about a problem what is nice to have it solved. I am talking about a player that does not work anymore. If you do not want to wait for my solution just send your player for repair - it was not your fault that it does not work anymore...
This story with the great support was a test of Creative and will be used in a review. So be not surprised to find it somewhere else.
Here the Creative support story. The first mail is at the bottom. I had to make part and part 2 since you cannot post such a long message here.
To: Creative Labs Asia Customer Support <[email protected]][email protected]>Subject: Re: CLA (CTL) - Technical Support Request - (MuVo TX FM) (KMM7755874I6636L0KM)Dear,I know the solution long time already. I just wanted to test the support at Creative. The problem is real and forces owners of your players to buy a new one since their playes get useless after the upgrade. Not only that Creative puts a faulty upgrade on their homepage - their support is good for nothing. But this was a test of the Creative support. I hardly can believe that Creative is not in the position to solve a very simple problem caused by Creative - what has severe consequences for their customers. But this mail story confirms exactly this. So my advice to any customers - stay away from this company and their products - what is the final result of my test. If you want to know the solution for the problem please contact me again - I am glad to help such a poor company :-)))) For free? I am not so sure...since my player was not for free too...Best Regards,PeterPS: The product is still within the "police period" of my dealer. And I did not just buy the product. • Using folders/subfolders with 1.17.04 firmware upgrade on MuVo TX

I just upgraded my firmware to version .7.04. Under the Added Features or Enhancements it states 'Supports up to three subfolder levels in the root directory.' I cannot get my player to recognize the subfolder levels.
I would like to organize my music files on my player in the following format: Genre/Artist/Album. For example, I would create a 'Rock' folder in the root directory. In that folder I would create a subfolder named 'Aerosmith'. In that subfolder I would create two subfolders named 'Greatest Hits' and 'Greatest Hits 2'. Each of those subfolders would contain the actual music (.mp3 or .wma) files.
I've tried doing that with Creative MediaSource Organizer, but when I play the music on my MuVo TX FM it only shows folders for each Album. Each Album folder contains the music files.
All of the play options appear to work correctly for the Album subfolders, such as shuffle all and shuffle folder. However, I would also like to be able to have these options for each of the folders and subfolders. For example, I would like to be able to shuffle play all music files in the Rock folder or in the Aerosmith subfolder, in addition to the normal play options.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any instructions/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The player only shows folders that have actual music files in them so what you see is correct.
The 3 levels of sub-folders are to allow you to organize your files on the player and to sync with WMP 0 which uses a Music/Artist/Album structure.
To play all of the Rock genre you would have to put all of the files beneath this folder directly into it, not in sub-folders.

• Muvo TX FM 512MB: firmware upgrade failed. How to recov

Hi, I have a Muvo TX FM 52MB. The firmware version used to be .4.0x. I tried to upgrade it to the newest one, .7.04.
I did everything according to the Instructions on the Creative Download Website. I let the OS to choose the recovery driver for me. The firmware upgrade file correctedly found my player and executed the upgrade. However, there's no instruction that I should check the format data option during upgrade. So I didn't format the data during upgrade. After the upgrade, I couldn't start the player and the PC couldn't recognize it.
I tried to do the upgrade again. The PC correctly recognized the player as a recovery device. After I started the creative upgrade program, the program founds the recovery device, then started to find any device connected to the computer, finally said that "The device is not connected to the USB port".
How to solve it's Many thanks.
Alex

go to nomadworld.com and find the firmware... READ PROPERLY... it says that u must install a new driver before u upgrade the firmware... mine works... for now, to recover it, press and hold the play button on the player while connecting it and hold the button until a window appears to install the player recovery software... before that, install the new driver first. then let windows search for the driver. windows will clear everything up in ur player. NOW U CAN DO UR firmware update... it doesnt matter whether u want to format or not cause the firmware upgrade program will format your player even though u didnt want to do it. its not the formatting problem.. hope this hel
ps.
thanks for reading.

• Problem with Muvo FM TX after upgrading firmware to 1.19

My GB Muvo FM TX had been working fine, but I saw the new firmware and decided to give it a try anyway. I upgraded to .9.0. Now the player plays only first 5 minute or so of each MP3 file. After about 5 minutes, it stops playing and skip to next file. Again it will only play the first 5 minutes before skipping to next file.
Could anyone give me some help?
Thank you.

Well, I solved the problem. I downgraded firmware to .8 and then upgraded to .9.0 and the problem is gone. Also, this time I did not put the player into recovery mode.

Just got a new Gb Muvo N200 and looking at the settings it is version ..0
Should I upgrade the firmware as I believe there is a newer version.
I havent experienced any pops or crackles yet but it is new and I havent listened to more than 5 minutes

BognorRocks,
The new firmware listed some fixs and added support for Audible audio. If your not having problem with the player and audible audio support is not needed at your end then it's not needed.

• SUCCESS !!! Muvo TX 512MB Firmware Upgrade

My Muvo was toast. Same issues as others here. "No Music" message when Windows Explorer clearly showed mp3 files plus data files. I was even able to copy (backup) files to my laptop. I highly recommend this before you start anything!
After that, though, deleting files caused all sorts of problems. Most notably was the hanging or freezing every time windows explorer/windows format/(even)IE creative.com site autoupgrade tried to access the player. I formatted the dri've. After the first format (FAT not FAT32) I wasn't able to format the dri've again.
I finally decided to manually download the newest firmware (MuVoTX_PCFW_LF__22_03.exe). I've read that others have had problems with it. I removed the player from the usb port then (read somewhere here to do this) held the power button down while I reconnected it. I then ran the file above. It appeared to hang again. I also got the standard windows "new hardware detected" window and went ahead and clicked "let windows install new software (recommended)" (or something like that).
It took awhile but it finally completed. I noticed the player display was completely dead now though. Never happens when connected to the usb. I clicked on the "Safely Remove Hardware" (recommended in the manual before disconnecting). Sure enough, the player was completely dead. No power up or anything. I chuckled to myself cuz I had read this same problem over and over.
I connected it to the usb port again. Windows Explorer did not see it. I RERAN "MuVoTX_PCFW_LF__22_03.exe". The player was immediately detected! Second time around a dialog box appeared showing old firmware (0.00.0), new firmware (.22.03) and an option to format data area, which I took. Viola!!! SUCCESS !!! Upgrade completed!!!
I'm happy to report that I am now able to load mp3's on my Muvo TX. It's working fine so far. I'll report back if anything changes.
ps.
Tip - Keep in mind the "number of files" limitations on the player. Use folders! A folder with multiple mp3's is still considered one file in itself.

I'm pretty happy with my Muvo NX, but I'm frustrated that I can't rewind within an MP3 and the play-order is dictated by the alphanumeric name sort of the MP3 files. How far up in the Creative Labs MP3 player (flash memory or disk) line would I have to go to get these two features?

Jason,
I have the Creative Muvo N200 gb, just got it yesterday, latest firmware (I think, it is version: .0.02) but I tried the fast forward inside playing back a mp3 and it does not work. I am listening to a recorded am radio show (I am a paid subscriber, the file is a mp3 file), and want to resume where I left off but each time I come back to the file, it starts over at the beginning and I want to forward thru what I've heard already. Can you please be very detailed in how to use the forward? Does the Cue setting have to be on/off/cancel or what? Also, when you see the "On" in Cue, does that mean it is on now, or to press scroll-select to make it on? I also don't know how to cue/review other than toggle the setting, and I don't exactly know what cue/review does. Last, what is "skip section" that audible.com says the muvo n200 can do with this firmware version?
Thanks in advance.

Hi There. Basically im trying to get some advice on what to do with my Creative Muvo Slim (52 MB) DAP. I originally bought it 02/09/05 but had to get it exchanged on 02/4/05 because the backlight would never turn off even with firmware upgrades.
So I got the new one and everything has been working great until about a week ago. One day, I turned on my player and didn't hear anything. Restarted and it worked, but then after about two songs it froze. Had to take out battery to restart then it worked fine for about an hour. Suddenly a song was playing that I wanted to play a little louder, but the player froze again, but was still playing the song until it froze completely at the end.
Finally I took out the battery and restarted again. But I didn't play anything. I hooked up the original earphones and hit play, and it worked fine. But all of a sudden I VERY LIGHTY ran my finger across the player and it froze again. Then after about 20 times of testing, it turns out that the player ALWAYS freezes when im touching it. If there is absolutely no movement, it plays fine. If im careful, I can change songs, volume, settings, etc. But the only way to do so is like a surgeon while placing the player on top of my palm.
Finally after about 2 days, I was listening to it when it finally just turned off. It didn't want to turn on anymore for the rest of the day. I tried the next day and it worked for a while, so I backed up my music (All MP3's) then it shut down after a few minutes.
Since the first thing I thought was maybe a bad battery. I got someone to lend me the one from theirs. But it unfortunately didn't turn on. And when mine turns on, the battery has a full three bars.
Since this is getting kind of long, Im thinking it might be something hardware related, but I have never once dropped or mistreated this DAP in any way. Not a single dent on it. Hell, I never took it out of it's black case Except for the battery change. And whenever im not using it, I put it in a padded drawer all by itself. Locked, of course.
I bought this at circuit city for $39.99 +Tax , and this "Protection Plan" for another $34.98 paying a total of $86.52 w/Tax . I called and they said that it doesn't qualify for a return because the damage was done "Accidentally" and that it was My Fault. I said it was BS, so now im kinda stuck here. So in short ( Heh )

I'd try Circuit City again. If they still give you the "accident" BS, try the Better Business Bureau, your state's Attorney General, arbitration, or small claims court. If you need repairs while your dispute is pending with Circuit City, contact Creative Customer Support; you should still be under at least the parts warranty, and will only have to pay $25 for labor (which Circuit City should be made to reimburse you for).
