Upgrade my HP dv1000 RAM

Hi,
I am using HP dv1000 series laptop since 7 years, without any issues.
It had 1 GB RAM. Now I want to upgrade RAM to 2 GB or 4 GB.
Can anyone please let me know, whether my HP dv1000 supports RAM greater than 1 GB.
If it supports, what kind of RAM, I need to order.
Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
Srikanth.

Hi,
We need to know the model/product of your machine. Because based on the following link, it ONLY supports 1Gb of RAM:

• Do i need an SSD in order to upgrade to 16gb of RAM upgrade????

Hey there,
I've been the proud owner of an MBP 15.4" late 2011. I have already upgraded my RAM to 8gb (2X4gb) but I continue to hit some bottle necking when working on projects.
I am a free lance web developer, which means I have illustrator and photoshop windows open, plus a FTP client (cyber duck) and text wrangler, plus a browser. I try to minimize my programs to only what I need, but I still experience sluggish haults when I run anything in conjunction.
I'm thinking of upgrading to 16gb of RAM, but I wanted to know if I need and ssd to do that? Will 16gb work without an ssd? I have just the stock HDD (750gb) right now.
I also have a day job as a networking engineer, so I run multiple VMs at once, which chokes my mbp with the current RAM available.
I don't want to do an ssd right now, but I will down the line when the prices are more reasonable. I would like to just upgrade the RAM first if its effective.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Rich

No. You don't need an SSD to upgrade your RAM. Here's what you can install:
Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots
2 - 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
You will find suitable RAM at OWC or DataMem.

• Can I Upgrade My Processor And RAM?What Is Compatible?

Hello, I Got A New Laptop Recieved From A Trade,And Was Wondering What And How To Upgrade My CPU And RAM? My Laptop Info: -Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU B800 @ 1.50GHz, 1500Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processors-BIOS Ver. Hewlett-Packard F.33-SMBIOS Ver. 2.7-x64 Bit-2GB RAM(MAX 8GB) Basically I Wanna Upgrade The Laptop For Better Speed/Performance.Im Not Using It For Gaming Etc.Just For Faster Internet Browsing Etc....So Basically A Laptop For Google,YouTube Etc. NOTE: MY INTERNET MBPS IS AROUND 600Mbps WIRELESSLY. My Questions: 1.What Processor's Are Best?,And What Processor's Are Compatible With My Laptop? 2.Do I Just Replace The Processor?Or Motherboard? 3.What RAM Is Compatible With My Laptop? 4.Also What Is The Best Hard Disk Upgrade?(DONT NEED MORE THAN 500GB) 5.How Do I Go About Replacing And Installing The Processor? Thank You!!

Huffer wrote:
This is the source of information about your laptop: the Service Manual: Download Manual here Unfortunately if you look on page 19 you see that Celeron models have their own type of motherboard which means you could only install a different Celeron processor. You could theoretically buy one of the i3/i5 motherboards and install it but that would mean a new motherboard and processor. The cost will approach a new laptop price. How much memory do you have? Your model was a WalMart Black Friday special a few years back and came with 2 gigs. Increase it to 8 or at least 4. 4 would be cheap as all you would have to do is add a 2 gig module. Here is the part number for a 4 gig module: 4 GB 621569-001 Here is the 2 gig on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-100-6100ix-PC3-10600-1333MHz-PARTS-QUICK/dp/B00FDV69CE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1437999207&sr=8-6&keywords=621565-001 Then save that money you want to spend on the motherboard and processor and just buy a solid state drive. You can get a 250 gig solid state drive for under $100 now. Install it and do a clean reinstall of Windows onto it and you will think you have installed an i5 processor and 8 gigs of RAM. Makes everything pop open, boots way, way faster, etc. The solid state drive is the same physical configuration as a hard drive and is a drop-in replacement. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1437999378&sr=1-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo Pages 45 and 46 of the Manual show memory upgrade and hard drive removal and reinstallation. Good luck. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it. so would i be able to upgrade to a Intel Core i5-2430M 2.40-GHz processor (1333-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W; not supported on computer models equipped with Windows 7 Starter 32-bit operating system)???

I have a 2008 mac book....with 1GB 667hz DDR2 RAM 1GB each....I want to upgrade it with DDR3 Rams 2GB each, it is possible?

No, the two RAM types are different, and the architecture has to specifically be able to interface with it. You can upgrade to 2x2GB of DDR2 memory, for a total of 4GB.

• Upgrading to 32 GB ram for late 2103 iMac 27"

Friends,
The computer I'm using is
I wish to upgrade this with 32GB (8GB84) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) Laptop RAM (CMSX8GX3M1A1600C10). Is there any problem using this memory? Also I've read in some threads that upgrading to 32 GB ram crashes the system? Is it possible to add 2*8GB and use the existing 2*4GB so that I'll be able to use 24 GB of ram?
Thanks in Advance!

I think that you would get more responces over on the Apple Desktop > IMac discussion thread: https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/imac_intel
instead of here at the Final Cut Pro X thread which only deal with editing. That said, I'm not sure that I would proceed with adjusting your Ram modules until you e-mail or speak with an Apple Qualified Technician.
I trust the people over at OWC - Macsales >>http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac

• Upgrading my mac book ram to 2gb

hi i brought a mac book 2ghz with 1gb of ram and i want to buy 2gb of ram and manually upgrade to 2gb of ram but i dont have a clue where to go to get 2gb that will be compatible with my mac book. im live in the uk? any websites or places?
cheers

Sorry if this is unhelpful but you might consider taking it back if you bought it within the previous 14 days. The reason is that, as stated, you will be able to get cheaper RAM than through Apple but it will still be rather pricey. The good news is that you'll have 2x512s to sell on but you'll also have to decide if the hassle is worth it.
I was looking into this a couple of months ago for my machine and I reckoned the best place to get RAM would probably be Crucial UK because it's good quality by all accounts but IIRC the price was over £200.
Now, the price for an upgrade was just over £100 (even less if you can get an educational discount) and the numbers just made sense to have it installed directly from Apple, especially when you consider the hassle factor.
If exchanging is out of the question, then I would recommend Crucial as their quality and customer service/satisfaction makes up for any pennies that might be able to be pinched elsewhere.

• How to Upgrade HP 15-p121ne Ram

It's possible to upgrade HP 15-p121ne ram to 12 gb or 16 gb
This question was solved.
View Solution.

Here is the Service Manual:
Link to Download Manual
See pages 3 and 104. The Manual says 12 gigs is the max supported, but also says Intel models only have a single memory slot, non-customer accessible. Whatever memory slot configuration you have it requires removal of the motherboard to access it (them). Notice there is a single 16 gig module part referenced on page 104 but it says it is only for AMD models.
From all this my response to your question is a tentative "No". I am gathering that a single 8 gig module, which you have, is the maximum RAM configuration. Most people have no real need for more than 8 gigs of RAM. What are you trying to do that you believe you need 12 or 16 gigs?

• Is it time to upgrade my Macbook's RAM?

I have a Macbook 2nd generation (2 GHz, 1 GB memory).
When I open Photoshop CS2 or Illustrator CS2, it tells me that my memory is running low.
Also when I have several programs open, such as iTunes, Safari, and iChat, they seem to run slower.
ALSO I've discovered the Activity Monitor and been watching it...when I have Illustrator and a few other programs open, it says I only have 17.31 MB of free memory left. Also it may state 66063/4749 (for example) for Pages ins/outs.
In conclusion, does this mean it's time to upgrade my Macbook's memory? I've had this laptop for almost 3 years now and it's definitely held up way better than my previous HP laptop.
If I need to upgrade the RAM, how much does Apple charge for installing it themselves? I don't think I'm confident enough to install it myself.
Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks!

You can install the memory yourself, you just need a size 0 philips screwdriver (avail in any hardware store or radio shack). Memory is cheap, I would go to 3 or 4g (I think your model can only address 3g). • Upgrade hard drive and RAM

What is the maximum size & speed of hard drive that I can put into my new MacBook Pro?

Ooops. Yes. Sorry for that silly typo. It is 2 TBs. Here's the info on memory:
Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots
2 - 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

• I want to upgrade my MacBook pro ram

I want to upgrade my MacBook pro 17'' ram. I have 2X2 GB 1066 MHz and I want to go to 2X4GB but I can't find any with 1066 MHz I found only 1333 MHz. Will it work on my MacBook pro late 2009 unibody 3,06 Ghz Core 2 Duo

do not use anything other than the exact specs.
It MAY work with the 1333MHz (the 1333 will be downclocked) but you will have problems VERY probably.
You have to replace the 2X2 with 2X4.
Buy the best there is: Crucial, OWC: the price is very low. And yes the right spec is for sale everywhere.
Find a respectable internet seller in your area, and buy it: but research the Crucial and/or OWC sites for the exact specification, they have configurators where you put in your computer model.
Replacing is easy, you have to have the right screwdriver, there are 3 screws that are longer, remember where they are.

• Can I upgrade my MacBook Pro RAM to 16Gb eventhough Apple advises 8GB max upgrade? Will it damage my computer if I do upgrade to 16Gb?

Hello All MacPro users,
I have a Macbook pro 2011 15" and since I am into composing music I use Logic Pro and Native Instruments which require quite some RAM accessing & loading complex samples and effects. I was wondering if I can upgrade the ram to 16gb or even more eventhough Apple indicates 8gb as max RAM upgrade. I read some contadictory information. some say that Macbook pro will support 16gb. What if I upgrade will it damage my system?
Appreciating your supports

as Kappy says " you can "
have a look at this pic - my 2011 Macbook Pro with 16GB.....doing the upgrade yourself if you're technically capable will not damage it.

• Upgrading to 2 GB RAM, will this work/better options?

Right now I have a 1 gb of RAM in my Intel Core Duo 2 ghz macbook. I was looking at a pair of 1 gb memory cards to put in my macbook to upgrade it and I have several options.
https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/5300DDR21024/
This is one of them, and I could purchase two of these and use them, and it seems to be the best price option.
I was also looking at Crucial which is more expensive but it comes in a pair. (look at the crucial website)
What should I do?

I meant the RAM you linked to as being from OWC as being different from the Crucial RAM from Crucial.com. Sorry if I confused you. 39 dollars for a Gig is good.

• X201 - upgrading to 8GB of ram - Starting windows hangs

I just bought a used X201 (non tablet). It came with 4GB of RAM (2x2GB). I loaded windows 7 pro 64bit on a new Solid state drive and the little laptop worked great. I work for a company that recently purchased dozens of new X230's and T430 laptops. When they purchased these new machines, they upgraded all the memory to 16GB...which means the vendor removed the original 2x4GB modules to put in 2x8GB. So, I have a drawer FULL of brand new 4GB memory modules (dozens of them). I figured I would try and upgrade this X201 I just bought to 8GB of ram since I had so many 4GB stick laying around not being used. When I put in two of the 4GB sticks, the laptop hangs at "Starting Windows", but it passes all BIOS tests just fine and does appear to at least start windows. With only ONE 4GB stick, the computer boots just fine. With one 4GB and one 2GB (total of 6GB) the computer boots just fine. I've tried a bunch of different 4GB sticks to make sure one wasn't bad, but these are all brand new and there is no way I have that many bad sticks (plus, they all work fine when they are by themselves). Everything i've read says that these X201's will take a max of 8GB, but I just can't get this laptop to work with two 4GB sticks. One difference is, the new 4GB sticks are PC3-12800 modules, where as the original 2GB that came with this X201 are PC3-10600. However, when used in tandem, they work fine (one 4GB and one 2GB). I should have put in the 8GB of ram before I loaded Windows, but I've done a lot of install work and hate to reload windows at this point...and I am not sure that would even work. Has this happened to anyone else?

I would be also interested in the cause since I've also seen this behaviour. I tried the 2x 4GB Crucial shown below in my X201, two X301 and the T520 and didn't work either:
DDR-10600 worked with no problems in all aforementioned machines.
