Upgrade my iphone from vs 4.3

I wish someone could help me
I am a quite new iphone user. Currently I have in use a iphone4 with an old version (4.3.3).
As I dont want to updgrade to 7 can you pls tell me:
- what is the best / most stable version to updgrade to
- where can i secure download the release as I have the impression apple is allowing me to downlaod only IOS7

My Bad!!! I tied it y'day and i was not able to do so, you people are right. You can install only the latest version of iOS 7.0.4.
Apple has stopped sigining older firmwares hence forth.
Here is a detailed list of Firmware which are signed/unsigned by apple.

there should be a back up on your friends computer of your phone when it was restored. If there is all you need to do is restore from that backup and your good to go, I just hope that you did not plug your phone into there computer 2 times.
The first thing you will need to do is turn of automatic sync and then you can plug your phone in and restore from the backup that should have been made

Restore the device using the most recent backup.
If you have not backed up the device recently, then there is nothing to restore.

I can not see Aperture in the media brower of iMovie and idvd since I have upgraded my iphone 5

I have Aperture 3.4.2 (most updated version I could find). Now when I look to make a movie or dvd with my photos. I can not find any of my recent photos in imovie or idvd via their respective media browsers. Aperture and iphoto are both working fine and great (ie: I can adjust my photos accordingly and print them out). I was able to successfully make both an imovie and then burn it on idvd (added photos to the idvd screens via media browers too), last week.
The only thing I can think that is different with my computer is that I upgraded my iphone from iphone4 to iphone5.
This is what I have looked into already:
Aperture>Preferences>Preview is set to share and set to always>photo preview set to Don't limit (no change)
Tried alt+cmd when opening Aperture and reset Aperture (as well with iphoto). (no change)
Itunes>Advanced>choose photos to share> then a window pops up stating Aperture could not be found open Preferences in Aperture (My first step already proved that it should be fine)
My question is why all of a sudden is Aperture and most of my iphone photos not showing up in imovie or idvd all of a sudden? Does the recent Iphone5 updgrade have anything to do with it?
Any help would be great since I have been looking all over the web for an answer with no success.

DO NOT select backup from an existing your old iPhone back up such as Joe Blogg's Phone - if you do this you will not be able to use the 3G function on your phone, it thinks it's a 2G phone and will only give you Edge.

Which "official sources" were those? The official source that you provided a link to, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109, is not consistent with your advice.
Not too sure about your troubleshooting, either - what does +"removing and adding the 3G to the contact"+ mean? Do you mean turning 3G OFF then ON in network settings?
It is possible that your backup was corrupt, and that caused the problem you experienced. But the kbase article you referenced provides the Apple-approved method - backup your original iPhone and set up the iPhone 3G using that backup.

I recently upgraded my iphone 3GS to the new ioS 5.1. After I did this and synced my phone, it won't let me play any audio from apps, itunes or music. It will allow the phone to ring but that is all. When I use viber I have to press this button and change it from docking to iphone. I take it that the phone thinks I'm permanently on a docking system.
It also will not sync my music back to my phone. My music is on itunes but it won't let it sync.
I have restored my phone twice and it still won't work - HELP!! Please???

Your device is broken. If you want a device that works better than the one you have now, then you'll either need to bring your phone into Apple for out of warranty exchange ($149), or find a 3rd party repair shop in your area and see what they can do, if anything at all.

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

If I go tot this window on finder and enter Time Machine I can go back and find old notes...
If so, am I doing this on my new hard drive on on the time machine? When I do this on the time machine, what is "my home"? Also, I am unable to find "containers".
If I go to users/jeff/library, then I see components, compositions, contextual, etc, but not containers.

I cannot download or upgrade any apps from AppStore on my iphone 4 after upgrading to ios 5.1.1

I upgraded my iphone 4 to ios 5.1.1 using itunes.
After which I started using my phone as usual.
I was not able to upgrade or download apps from AppStore using wi-fi or 3G.
When I select any app for upgradation or downloading it starts, But It stops at 'waiting' stage , And never goes to 'loading' stage.
Please help resolve this issue.

Have you tried buying or upgrading on your mac or pc via itunes? You may have bad wifi/3G connections. And, for 3G, most carriers place a file size limit on tranmissions. I think that affects app downloads, if they're big.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming you have finished with your old backup.....
You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage......

until today i was using my wi-fi network to download an application and suddenly wi-fi tirned off and when i went to the settings i cannot click on (on/off) wi-fi)
it is ot highlighted.
i searched the web for answers but all answers took me to a dead end.
now i am stuck with iphone 4s with no wi-fi which is worth nothing.
a normal nokia with wi-fi is much better.

Take a look at this Apple doc -> iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If those 5 steps don't fix it, the iPhone will need service.
