Professionally ! Basically you can, with a cost and I believe this cost may be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:
New card price, and WHERE you can buy it because laptop cards are not the same as desktop cards. You can't buy from any normal shop,
Need new system board (may be),
Need new cooling system because generally speaking more powerfull card pumps out more heat (you want more powerfull card don't you?).
May need new PSU because your current PSU may not suitbale to the card. (I ordered a machine with Nvidia card and I needed to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal 65W charger. They simply rejected my order).
Labor cost (I would charge minimum 4hrs for this, just for labor which equates to A$960.00).
Many, many packets of Asprin.

Hello, I've got a Upgrade-Version of CS5.5 for Windows and changed to a Mac. Now I need the Mac-Version. I tried to install the Download from Adobe. Unfortunatly it didn't accept my password. The latest, and only available choice is CS6. You have two choices, subscribe to Creative Cloud or buy a new license.
There are no upgrades with the exception of a discount for the first year of the full Creative Cloud. -

I'd wait. What can't you do that you need? You mean you want to buy a new model, then why not wait for an actual new one, not the two year old 5,1, when you need to and have outgrown.
Yours will run Mountain Lion. yours is 4 yrs old and still supported and has life left. -

If you play a lot of games on the windows side, you might also want to consider the 4890. I has recently became flashable (if you're into that kinda thing). It has a lot more leeway to be overclocked. Close to (or if your lucky) hitting the 1 Ghz core clock speed, gives very close comp to the 285, and at fraction of the price. You can get an XFX 4890 on newegg for $195. -
I am trying to install the OS Mavericks upgrade on my MAC and it requests for me to enter an administrator password. I do not use an an administrator password on the machine. Any ideas how to resolve this?
If you bought the machine new yourself, and did not enter a password when configuring it, leave the field blank.

Any of the new Macs for home - iMac or MacBook Pro are even fine. You don't need a 65lb workstation tower. If you want a tower for how well and long they hold up, and can be upgraded, that is another matter and fine and might be overkill at first.

I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie. Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes. Also to compound the situation everytime I attempt to share to iDVD or iTunes, iMovie quits unexpectedly. What do I do?
If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

You can usually get those from the original grey installer discs that came with your Mac without bothering with Pacifist. Look for an 'installed bundled software' or similarly named item on one of those discs, generally the #1 disc. Software Update will let you know if there is an update you can download for them (but of course that won't include an upgrade to a more recent major version, which you would have to buy separately). -

The iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 or later and iTunes 10.7 requires OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8). If your profile is correct it looks like you need to update your OS X on you Mac. You can contact Apple and purchase the software from them.

My friend bought the Lion upgrade for her MacBook. She would also like to upgrade her desktop Mac to Lion which is currently running Leopard. Does she have to first buy a SnowLeopard upgrade for her desktop? And will the upgrade from SnowLeopard to Lion then be free? Both computers use the same apple ID.

She needs to purchase Snow Leopard but she can re download Lion on the desktop for free after Snow Leopard is installed.
And definitely use the same Apple ID to download Lion on the desktop.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -

If your computer is running an OS X prior to Snow Leopard 10.6,
the answer (if it is an Intel-based Mac; not old PowerPC model)
would be to buy the retail Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD from Apple
for about $20, and install it. Then update that to 10.6.8 by using
the installed Snow Leopard online to get Combo Update v1.1 for
Snow Leopard 10.6.8. After that is installed & updated, run the
system's Software Update again, to see what else is available to
that system.
Later systems can then be looked into at Mac App Store, once
the computer is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
And if your computer is a Power PC (G4/G5, etc) and has no
Core2Duo kind of CPU -- See "About this Mac" in apple menu
to disclose the general info about your Mac. Also you can see
even more by clicking on "More Info" when looking in there...
If it isn't an Intel-based Mac, it can't run a system past 10.5.8.
