Upgrade Netflix plan through iTunes?
Product name & specs:
Any Netflix capable player (any computer with a browser and Internet connection, etc.). My case: Apple TV 3rd gen (early 2012).
OS version:
Latest as of January 31, 2015.
Problem:
Netflix offers a plan for up to 4 screens and ultra HD content. You can upgrade through their website but not through iTunes (my case).
Steps I've tried:
Upgrading through Netlix's website (doesn't allow you to). Going to iTunes and trying to find somewhere to upgrade (there's no such info or link). Therefore, cannot be done.
In the end, what I did was:
1) Disable Auto Renew of Netflix from the iTunes Store account.
2) Wait until the last day of Netflix subscription, until I verified I was no longer a member.
3) Register through Netflix website, got the "4 device streaming" plan, paid with my credit card.
Apple: I love you, but you screwed up this one.

I'm going to make some guesses here. You bought your phone second hand. In other words, not from Apple and not from your carrier. What you got is a hacked phone that was originally carrier locked, most likely to AT&T in the US. You are NOT in the US. (If I get any of this wrong, please tell me).
What has happened is when you updated the software, it was re-locked to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier can authorize an unlock. If it is locked to AT&T, you're out of luck as they WILL NOT unlock an iPhone for any reason.
If it's locked to another carrier, you will have to find out what carrier that is (you can NOT tell by looking at the model number) and find out if they unlock iPhones. If you can't find out, or if they do not, then your only real option is to sell the phone and purchase one from a LEGITIMATE source.

Netflix subscription through iTunes
Netflix subscription in iTunes only seems to offer 1 choice, but the Netflix site has 2 options for subscriptions.
1) $7.99 / month for 2 devices
2) $11.99 / month for 4 devices
I have spoken to Netflix and they said that as I am billing through iTunes that they are unable to change this as they have no access to the iTunes billing system.
How can I change my subscription in iTunes to the 2nd option?If Netflix don't currently offer that option for when you are billed through iTunes then you won't be able to - Netflix would need to add that option to iTunes.

After playing show purchased through itunes or playing netflix for a approximately 1 hour the sound is garbled. The people speaking soung like robots. I restart/restore and it happens again. Software updated and all connections are fine. What is the problem?? I plan on taking it back...
Doesn't sound right - if you've unpowered it to restore, and also restored I'd suspect a hardware issue if this gradually develops, perhaps heat related issues.
If under warranty get it looked at/replaced.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

BernardoWhen you open the application you will have the opportunity to select software update.
You can also go to the App store and check under Purchases and Updates and if the update still does no appear select Store > Check for unfinished downloads.
Having said all that, please do think carefully before you do upgrade. For a great many users the latest version has been a bitter disaapointment (see various other discussions here), as it has lost considerable functionality in the drive to ensure compatitbility with iOS. -
How is it that Netflix has been billing a card that is NOT the credit card linked to my itunes. Netflix says it is billing through itunes..How? My Wells Visa NOT attached to iTunes but it is the card being billed.Any idea why this is happening?

Does Netflix come straight from router or does it travel through itunes

I cannot figure out why streaming netflex stops all the time and freezes on my ATV but NEVER does this on my imac, MBP or either ipad in our house...but every single netflix move stops and and goes all through the video.
Obviously this is buffering but why. My Air Extreme is updated as is the ATV and all have been rebooted. No issues streaming audio or video from my imac but again...netflix boo.
So I'm curious if the ATV grabs straight from the internet via airport extreme or does it take and extra path through itunes and thus introduce other variables. very frustrated.We'll you do bring up some interesting opinions on the matter but your comments that explain Netflix streaming as a function of ISP speed (which approaches a consistent 20mbps) seem to fall short if you include my initial comment that two macs and two ipads NEVER have this issue.
I proposed that as a possible explanation in response to your question, but it's certainly not the only possibility. However, it is a fact that Netflix uses a variable bit rate technique in order to minimize the need for buffering, which is the opposite of what the iTunes store does, which is to attempt to send a constant data stream for caching. The difference in streaming techniques, which are affected by network speed, might account for the reports from various users that videos from the iTunes store play well when Netflix videos don't.
The Netflix iPad app does not support HD video, whereas the ATV does. Netflix also uses Microsoft's Silverlight for the embedded players in the Xbox and the PS3 and the Silverlight plugin for browsers. It's unlikely that the ATV supports Silverlight, however, so I suspect its player is using either HTML5 or Quicktime, and that could also be related to the problem.
In either case, or whatever the actual case may be, I doubt that the problem is resolvable by the end user. I expect it will take a software update from Apple to resolve the Netflix streaming issues. -
