Upgrade not accepting previous serial number

I have purchased an upgrade from Creative Suite standard 5.5 to 6. It accepted my serial number for the new upgrade, and asked for the serial number for the 5.5. I entered it, but it won't accept it as valid, even though it is there in my Licensing records in the account on adobe.com. Any suggestions as to how to solve this?

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

    Make sure you are using the  correct serial number.  Find your serial number quickly
    If you did not deactivate the original installation then it is possible your two allowed activations have been used and you need to reset your activation count.  To do that you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.  If you ask for more than that they will tell you they cannot offer you any support.

    I have a Dell XPS M1530, laptop.  I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on my computer in March, and  the program worked correctly.  I had Windows Vista on my computer.  I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 to replace Vista.  I cannot reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 because Adobe installation will not accept my serial number.  Adobe tech support tells me my serial number is for version 6.0 of Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe no longer supports version 6.0..Please give me advice on how to install.

    Could you please let me know what error prompts on your screen when you are trying to enter the serial number.
    Have you bought subscription for Acrobat, if yes then you might need to sign in at "adobe.com" using your Adobe ID credentials to activate subscription.

    Get their phone number from their main web pages (start by clicking the red Adobe icon on this page).  Look for Contact Us links.  The phone numbers don't jump out and shout at you but neither are they hidden.
    When you get Customer Support on the phone, describe what you've been through and ask them nicely to make BOTH your allowed activations available to you once again.

The online sales guy told me I needed to deactivate and uninstall on the old computer (done), then download the upgrade and install it (done, using the serial number provided when I purchased the upgrade). Now, Acrobat XI says there is no old version on the machine (true... I was told I didn't need to install it) and it asked for a serial number. I entered the serial number off of the box that Acrobat 9 Pro came in and the program tells me it is not a valid serial number. What should I do???

    There are no issues with serial numbers. Please login to Adobe.com and check the serial numbers you are entering are correct.

    If you have purchased an Acrobat XI upgrade you will be prompted to enter the Acrobat XI serial number first then the serial number for the prior version.
    Which serial number isn't being accepted?  Please provide more details and send me a private message with both serial numbers so I can check further.

    I'm also getting the "invalid serial number", but I'm wanting to upgrade my 5.1 to 5.1.4 to take advantage of HDV 720p/24 support. Is the 5.1.4 update even an option still? I really don't want to be forced to upgrade to FCS2 and shell out $500, just to get this one feature that was included in a patch.
    I went to the Registration page and it actually allowed me to register the serial number... (which I'm pretty sure I already had), but it still won't let me in to download any updates. Also, the email confirmation that was supposed to be sent has not arrived 20+ minutes later.
    Very strange. I called Apple support and they estimated a wait time of 15 mins... ugh.
    Anyone have other suggestions?

  • Basic and frustrating: Pages will not accept my serial number

    My wife's iBook's hard drive recently died. We were able to save most things with Data Rescue even though the disk won't mount (bravo Data Rescue). Until she gets a new internal drive she would like to use the computer with an external Firewire drive, which has all her docs on it.
    That's fine, but Pages, installed on the external drive, won't accept the serial number that came with the software and that worked before. Come to think of it, I now recall there was some problem the FIRST time. I was on the phone with Apple for quite some time when finally the guy said something that made a difference, but I can't remember what it was. All I know is that I have entered many serial numbers for software, and iWork is the only one that hasn't just worked. Anyone know what the trick is, or how I can get another number?

    I think to start I have more questions than answers.
    Are you started up from the external drive you're trying to run iWork from? Are you logged in as an administrator when trying to enter the serial number? Are you trying to enter the serial number for iWork '05 or '06? The font used for the serial numbers with iWork '05 was a very bad choice & led to a lot of confusion. I wrote a user tip, iWork: serial number tip, that addressed most of the common problems. Other than the confusion of letters & numbers, the other possibilities are probably applicable to iWork '06. Try these & then post back if it works or not. If it doesn't, your answers to my initial questions might lead us to the solution.
