Upgrade notifications

I upgraded service yesterday. I got a confirmation number, and the email stated that I would be contacted within 24 hours to confirm the upgrade and the upgrade package being delivered. I called customer service today and they have no record of any upgrade nor any confirmation. Last time I tried to upgrade service, I got a Comcast email telling me no one could contact me (?) and the order had been cancelled (you can reach me by email to tell me that you can't reach me by email).
When I just attempted to contact customer service online, I found there is no way to do so, except by calling the same phone number which couldn't answer my question earlier..
In order to refrain from chasing my tail with your company, can someone please let me know how I can get a confirmation of the upgrade in which Comcast/Xfinity would be making $50 more from me per month? Would Tom K. approve of this?

Hi ThorrsHammer, I will be sending you a private message to further assist with this issue.
Thank you

If you are on iOS 4 (Settings > General > About > Version) then you won't, it is only when iOS 5+ is installed that you get a Settings > General > Software Update option appear on the iPad which might give you a notification (and allow you to update directly on the iPad).
If you are on iOS 4 and want to update to iOS 6 then you can do so by connecting your iPad to your computer's iTunes (which will need to be the current version) - updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
iOS 6 will remove the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

  • Turn off mavericks upgrade notification in Snow Leopard

I'm happily running Snow Leopard with no plans to upgrade, but lately I've been getting uninvited update to mavericks notifications front and center on my screen in the middle of whatever I happen to be doing and Apple doesn't appear to offer any way to turn them off.  The only options provided are "yes" or "later."  I can't see any way in app store or system preferences to turn them off.  The notices are invasive and show a surprising lack of respect for the professionals who choose to work on Apple workstations, with the OS of their choice.
Can anyone tell me how to turn them off?
    Thanks,
    Dave

So what you are saying, is you want to remove this from your header?
I would say, don't rely on the update page.    Instruct people to avoid the update page, or do not grant people admin rights.
Some have suggested downloading the 10.6.8 combo and extracting Mac App Store 1.0.2 from the combo update using Pacifist.  I've got Mac App Store 1.0.2 and have applied no updates, and still get this screen on the update page.

  • Flash Player 11.3 Upgrade Notification - Finally!

    Hi All,
I was finally prompted to update - yesterday morning, i.e. it took 8-9 days to get to my machine - and so I did! keeping same "automatic/silent" update option.
I noticed then that the FF Plugin was updating first? not the IE ActiveX Control - which I believe is supposed to be updated first? Am I right? Please note that no browser was open during the process.
So I then rebooted the machine and went to the Flash Folder to confirm that only the Plugin (and the UpdateService.exe) files were updated.
Have patiently waited all day for the second update instance and nothing yet, so I would like to ask:
    - Why I wasn't prompted again inmediately after that reboot? Was my mistake to reboot the system "before" the first hour, i.e. before the Backgroung Updater next checking?
    - Should I keep waiting for a second prompt at all? If so, when now (it's 24 hours already) 7 more days or 30 days?
Of course I could install it manually... but I would certainly like to see/confirm this nice piece is working correctly in order to leave it alone - automatic/silent updates.
    Thanks in advance,
    RickCP

    http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/03/an-update-for-the-flash-player-updater.html
From the above I have learned that starting with Flash Player version 11.2, there're really two -interconnected- modes of the Flash Player Updater feature [1] The (new) Background Updater and [2] The (old) standard Notification mode Updater.
For those Windows users who are enrolled into the Background Updater since its original introduction with FP version 11.2, and that may still wonder what had happened with new version 11.3 that did not installed automatically nor silently, can confirm that based on the above info, the FP Updater is responding as supposed - at least in my case and as I have experienced it - as follows:
    => On Windows XP SP3 / IE7 / FF13.0.1 <=
    1) FP Version 11.2 >
    > V11.2.202.228 was originally released on March 28, 2012 as per Security Bulletin APSB12-07 which updated April 05, 2012. Manually installed both players (IE Activex and FF Plugin) on April 06, 2012 and the Background Updater was enabled by selecting the default option: Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended) at the installation program's last (Installation complete) window. Please note that wording for this option was different at that time (Install updates automatically when available (recommended)).
    > FP V11.2 was "automatically and silently" updated (both players within 24 hours of the update's release time) by the Background Updater only two times since its introduction:
    - V11.2.202.233 (did not find any Bulletin in respect to this release) on April 14; and
    - V11.2.202.235 on the same day (May 04) it was released per Security Bulletin APSB12-09 released May 04, 2012.
    Pretty fast, ah?
    2) FP Version 11.3 >
    > V11.3.300.257 was originally released on June 08, 2012 as per Security Bulletin APSB12-14.
This Bulletin was updated June 13 - to remove the reference to the silent update mechanism for Windows users in the "Solution" section, leaving its text (in respect to Windows users only) as follows:
"Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235 and earlier versions for Windows should update to the newest version 11.3.300.257 by downloading it from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center. Windows users can also install the update via the update mechanism within the product when prompted."
    - Q: Why was this revision made 5 days after the Bulletin's original release date? Without further details or a link to where the info was?
    - A: Don't know... but because it's not an standard update to V11.2, but rather an upgrade (Quarterly Update) or a new feature-bearing release (mostly for FF), that requires users' acceptance of new terms of use (License) before an installation can be performed, Adobe couldn't release this new version (and may not in the future for this type of new-releases but on a case- by -case basis) through the background update channel, but via the standard "notification" update mechanism instead (even if you have already agreed to allowing background updates).
    - Q: Ok, but why I wasn't prompted earlier? If V11.3 was released on June 08... Why did I receive the notification on June 17? i.e. 9 days later? And it was only in respect to one (the FF Plugin in my case) of the two players? And then a second notification (to update the pending IE ActiveX) got to my machine on June 26? i.e. additional 9 days thereafter = 18 days total time to update both players? Isn't it too long?
*Note: These were my original questions posted June 18 this thread.
    - A: By courtesy of Mr. Stephen Pohl via his BlogPost (Comments) mentioned above:
    <QUOTE>
"Thank you for your feedback. First, I’d like to say that we’re continuously working on improving our documentation and I’ll make sure to forward your request for better information regarding our policies. You also inspired me to work on a blog post that explains some of the technical aspects of our update mechanisms a bit better.
    Now, regarding your questions:
A wait time of 8-9 days for the regular notification to show sounds perfectly reasonable. Here are a few things to remember: When the update is made available for the notification updater only (i.e. not for the new Background Updater which is set to a 24 hour update check interval), the check interval defaults to 7 days. The notification updater also requires you to reboot your system before it displays the notification. So 8-9 days sounds reasonable.
Another element to remember about the notification updater is that it only updates one Player at a time. This is a shortcoming that was addressed in the Background Updater. The Player that will be updated first is the last one to perform an update check. The other Player will check again based on the interval, i.e. a default interval of 7 days. Once you reboot your system after this second check has occurred, both types of Flash Player will have been updated.
Note that there is a time window after which quarterly updates to Flash Player are also made available for the Background Updater (currently 30 days). This means that if you didn’t get notified for both types of Flash Player installed on your system in 30 days, the remaining Players that weren’t updated yet will be updated silently by the Background Updater. This is why it is important to remain enrolled in the Background Updater."
    <UNQUOTE>
So finally here's The Answer to my Thread which To summarize: For the reasons explained above (Quarterly Updates would install semi - automatically via the Notification Updater even if users are enrolled into the Automatic-Silent Background Updater) new players 11.3 were not installed by the ASBU within 24 hours of the update release time, but semi - automatically via two notifications prompted (each one requiring a previous reboot of the machine) by Adobe within an 18 days time - period...
There's a huge timing difference between both update modes, Ah? IMHO, Adobe should be addressing this matter before the next quarter-update, which I believe shall be scheduled sometime in October 2012, isn't it?
It shall prove nice to see a shortening of the NU's update check interval (and the prompt thereafter) to "at least" - a more reasonable - 48/72 hours time-interval(s) - Just a suggestion!
Also, being aware of the fact that there are many users (mainly servers' admins) that do not like notifications at all - can't imagine receiving 2 or 3 in one month - I would point out that there are also some regular users, as myself, that even enrolled into the BU to receive silent updates, would still check (mostly on Security Bulletins) on every update-release to know what it is about.
It shouldn't be so complicated for Adobe to publish some upfront info in respect to this type of updates - including the channel to be used to address it to the end-user - perhaps via a pre-release Security Advisory?
Hope this info is of any assistance to anybody on this Forum
    Cheers

  • The latest upgrade notification mentioned some effect to logitech, what will it be?

when the first notification of the latest upgrade popped up it said something about logitech equipment/add ons/settings being affected.I clicked on details but that was no help and have not been able to find anything since.I do not want to upgrade only to find my web cam won't work. Windows has too many of that sort of thing. You should elaborate when presenting such information.

Upgrading from 10.6.8 to a newer OS has implications for many Mac owners. Lion (10.7) ended support for software that was originally written for older Macs that used Motorola processors. Owners who kept their software current had few issues upgrading to Lion when it was released but a lot of people suddenly found they had software that wouldn’t run any longer.
Another thing to consider is the age of your computer. A 2007 or 2008 iMac can run Lion fine and even Mt Lion (10.8) but Mavericks is a reach. It was Mavericks that prompted my purchase of a new iMac in late 2012. Given that you say your iMac is pushing 8 and you don’t want to replace it yet, don’t consider upgrading beyond Mt Lion. You won’t find Lion or Mt Lion for sale at the App store but I believe that you can still purchase them by contacting Apple directly.

  • How do you suppress the Flash Player Upgrade Notification?

I currently support Flash Player in a corporate environment, and we have been unable to effectively suppress the notification to "Upgrade Flash Player". While we do upgrade for each new version that comes out, we do so in a controlled environment and on a schedule to better work around other business needs.
We had previously suppressed this by placing a mms.cfg file (AutoUpdateDisable=1) in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, but when signed into a PC with administrative rights we still see the Flash Notification. We have also attempted to modify the ISCHECKFORPRODUCTUPDATES property, as well as ARPURLUPDATEINFO to no avail.
Any assistance on this would be appreciated.

The problem is most likely in your Action Script. Therefore this question should be posted in the Action Script forum. This forum only deals with the Flash Player, which, in this case is running the script as it is written, and therefore, working properly.

  • Trusting Upgrade Notifications

I have been trained to be suspicious concerning notifications of upgrades to exisiting software.  I am receiving a pop-up notice that Adobe Reader 9.3.4 is available.  Yet, when I go to www.adobe.com, the latest version of Adobe Reder listed is 9.3.3.  How can I tell that the dowload site in the update notification is legitimate and not a spoof inducing me to download malware?  Thanks.

Adobe released update 9.3.4  for Reader on  August 19,2010
    For your reference:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83708.html
    These updates are avaialable @
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows
which you can apply over Reader 9.3.3.
Regarding checking the validity of update and to see what this update is,  you will have to click on the system tray icon whose pop up says "Update is ready  to install" and it should bring up a "Adobe Reader Updater" dialog with a  "details" link. Click on the "details" link, which should take you to some URL  and the page will have information regarding the update.

Hello , Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I came across your post about the Sleep Mode issue, and wanted to assist you! First, try shutting off the Fast Startup option.  Please review the following resource to help you, if needed: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 Also, try downloading and running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.  You can find it here:Open the Windows Update troubleshooter If you are still having trouble, then you can try using the Go back to an earlier build option, in your System Settings: HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10
Once you are back to your original Operating System, check to see if you are experiencing the same issue. If not, then you may consider holding off on the Windows 10 upgrade for a few weeks, until drivers can be updated. Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

  • Is there a way to ignore or prevent IOS7 upgrade notifications for my I phone?

I do not like having the 1 by settings and I do not want to hobble my perfect 4s with an incompatible operating system.  Is there anyway to turn off the notification.  Could I use Meraki or some other corporate solution?
    thanks.

How can I request this feature?

Is there an app I can purchase that will remove the notification?  If not will someone be able to write one?
There is no such app because it's impossible for an independent developer to write one. The software development kit doesn't allow access to those functions in iOS.

  • Lenovov S960 / Vibe X LED Notification Problem after Official Upgrade to Kitkat

    hello Lenovo,
after i updated my phone to kitkat i found so many problems (bugs). like the contact manager crashes, no name in incoming call and the LED notification. before i updated my phone to kitkat the LED notification always blink when i recieved emails, messages, missed calls, bbm, whatsapp, and line.
but now with kitkat running my phone, the LED notifciation doesn't blink anymore everytime i recieved notifications. i already turned on the LED notification in phone settings and apps setting. am i the only one who's facing this problem or there is anybody else that facing the same problem?
please help me anybody how to solve this problem?
and i have one more question. how to keep apps running on background? apps like bbm, line and whatsapp are closed everytime i clean up the ram and never come back on again until i open the apps again. and again i face this problem after i updated my phone to kitkat.
any kind of help is very appreciated.
    my build number is S960_ROW_S210_140529

Hi,  I found there are other issue apart from contact manager crash issue after upgrade from Jelly bean to KitKat 1. in the same way google chrome is also crashing after trying to open gmail and start enetering username2. caller name is not displaying while getting incoming or outgoing calls3. I found some suggestion in the same community website that first take a backup, delete all the contacts, and them import it back to solve the issue. But why we need to do these, why this issue is happening after upgrade4. however I deleted contacts and tried export from the storage. While doing so, Contacts->Menu->Import/Export contacts->Import from storage, it finds and displays all the .vcf files. Very good, but there is no select button to 'select all' the vcf file to import to the address book. I don't want to sit and select each .vcf file from the list to import it as there hundreds of contacts. I think 'select all' option is missing after upgrade.  I heard, in kitkat version some performance issue is fixed but now it seems to be many basic functionality features are not working after upgrading.  We are all waiting for your response and good kitkat upgrade notification in our mobile.  Thanks,Sharath

  • Just need Mavericks base installer to upgrade from Mountain Lion. Company hasn't approved Yosemite (3 weeks).

A month ago, I could have just downloaded the upgrade for Mt. Lion to Mavericks. Now, I can't find it.  All there seems to be is 10.9. to 10.9.10 updates, no base Mavericks.  All other update requests, questions, and queries at the Apple Store and iTunes go right to Yosemite.  Even my Mac obnoxiously says I need to upgrade to Yosemite (like it did for Mavericks, I can't turn the upgrade notification off).  I need Mavericks.
My company won't allow upgrading to Yosemite for at least another month, if not longer.  I want to upgrade now to Mavericks in the interim, and I can't because I can't fine an installer.  I can't do Bit Torrent either, so can't go to any "free" sites.

I can't do Bit Torrent either, so can't go to any "free" sites.
You are lucky. Downloading from torrents often downloads malware and in this case would be illegal.

  • To do's before and after upgrade

On another post, I noted that I cleared my home screens prior to upgrading as was suggested on a droid life site.  The upgrade notification will be obvious and you get to choose between install now, or wait, or get more information.  I just held off the install and deleted all my icons.  Then went to settings, about phone, and system updates, and ran the update.  It took about 2 minutes to download and a few to reboot.  After that I reset my home screens which you will want to do anyway since you will have 5 of them.  I had to reset my ring tones which was fine as they were due for a change.  If you use swype beta you will need to unintall it and its installer and get a new installer emailed to you from swype.com.  That was about it.  Then just spending time figuring things out.

I see where in the other thread you have a link posted in there. That link is for manually doing the update.
I haven't had any problems with the update and I didn't do all that stuff that you said you did. So IDK.
