Upgrade of 4402 Controller to 7.0.98.0 or 7.0.22.0 breaks WLC ability to display 1130 series APs

Almost a year ago we upgraded our 4402 Controller to 7.0.98.0 to support our 1262 APs. This allowed them to be in our network. We recently realized that we are unable to access the 1130 APs directly from the WLC. We can still access them from the controller GUI, but not the WLC gui.  If we downgrade to the 6.0.202.0, it fixes the issue with the 1130's, but we can longer have the 1262's on our network.  The error we get when we try to connect to 1130's while on 7.0.98.0 or 7.0.220.0 is as follows:
7.0.98.0 error
Error: Object "LradMeshNode" does not exist
7.0.220.0 error
Error: Object "Child of Lrad#302675 (Lrad00:15:c7:2a:20:c0) class LradMeshNode" does not exist.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Steve

do you mean you can't see the 1131 on wcs ?
If so, is your wcs on the same code rev as your wlc or a head ? Wcs should always be at or a head in code than your wlc ..

  • Upgraded the 4402 controller to version 6, gui doesn't work

I upgraded the 4402 to version 6 by upgrading to 4.1.192 mesh and then to 6. I could see 4.1.192 but after upgrading I could not get into the gui. I could telnet in but that was pretty brutal. What did I do wrong?
    thanks
    Gary

Actually when 6 installs it blows away the config. I had to come in and hook up the console cable. I usually hook one up to a laptop so I can always get to the controller but I didn't this time. I thought it was something I did but this controller proceeded to upgrade a controller in another building 20 miles away. The users complained they couldn't log in. When I got there and hooked up the console cable and rebooted version 6 got installed on there and the config was blown away. I had to tell it to boot from the secondary because I have some 1000 series APs still there. I had to recreate it and now everything is fine.

  • WLC (4402) Controller Redundancy

I currently have 1 x 4402 Controller setup in the HQ. This has a failry extensive wireless environment.
If there was to be a failure then the HQ has lost all Wireless communications.
I would like to implement another controller and use this as a backup.
Anyone have any implementation thoughts surrounding this? best practice and anything I need to consider?
    Thanks

    1. Add a second controller that is the same size controller that you currently have. Be careful to never exceed the total capacity of a single controller, or else you lose your full redundancy.
    2. Keep the controller at the same site, but connect it to a different switch in your core. If you are connecting it to a chassis switch, connect the two cables to different blades for highest redundancy.
    3. Configure each controller to use LAG (Etherchannel).
    4. Split your access points between the two controllers. Best practice is to group APs together that are physically close, so roaming occurs between APs that are on the same controller. Don't "checkboard" your APs when assigning primary controllers.
    I hope this helps!

  • Roaming issue between ap's? 4402 controller, 1010 AP's.

We are having an issue logging into wireless. If I am authenticate at one location on campus I have no problems authenticating there at any time. However, if going to a different part of campus, different ap, I can not authenticate and the attempted authentication does not even show up in the passed or failed attempts log on the acs server. I can see the WiFi and I am able to obtain an IP. So, dhcp is working properly. I just can't authenticate.
All of our ap's are the light weight 1010, controlled by a 4402 controller. Authentication goes through the ACS controller which queries the LDAP server. It doesn't appear to be an LDAP issue because I don't have authentication problem as long as I authenticate to the same ap every time.
The default group they belong to allows an unlimited number of authentications.
    Any ideas?

A little more info after some trouble shooting....I didn't mention previously but should have, we to 2 4402 wireless controllers. I took some of the ap's that were on controller 1 and set their primary controller to be controller 2 instead. After that I was able to authenticate to those ap's.
So, it appears that the issue is with the first controller.

  • 5508 and 4402 Controller Anchoring?

    Hello,
I am running 5508 wireless controllers. I pass along another agency's WLAN across my wireless network that is anchored to their older 4402 controller.
I wish to run the new 3600 series APs and am planning on migrating to NCS and the new 7.2 code.
I know that the older 4400 series controllers will not handle the newer 7.1 or 7.2 code. However, i still wish to maintain this anchor relatiosnhip with the older 4402 controller. I need to know if this will work or not.
Surely someone else has encountered this?
    Thanks,
    Phill

Sent this one to TAC... they said it should work fine.
I am planning a large deployment that depends heavily on the 3600 series AP...
Not anchoring with older controllers would be a show stopper..or at least bring the project to a crawl...
I'm already trying to figure out a workaround for surveying with the 3600 AP when i cant even run it.
(7.1, and 7.2 will not work with WCS...I already tried running it and it broke my ability create guest accounts...I was impressed with the 3600 AP though...).
I have to wait until I can get NCS purchased to migrate to the 7.2 code
    Not looking for anymore surprises....

Just upgraded to snow leopard, downloader apple support drivers for canon mp620.  Why won't a printer list display in add printer window?

Assuming the MP620 is connected to your wireless network, then there are two components to this device - the printer and the scanner. The printer uses Canon proprietary software while the scanner is supported by Apple's Bonjour service. So in many cases, you will at least see the scanner, shown as Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column, while the printer can take longer to appear and is shown as canonijnetwork in the Kind column. If you cannot see either then you have a network issue. Try turning off the MP620 for a minute and then turning back on. Then see if the scanner / printer component appears in the Add Printer window. If you still don't see either, then confirm the MP and the Mac are using the same network. If you know the MP's IP address you can use Network Utility to Ping the address. You can also enable Bonjour Bookmarks in Safari preferences and when selected, the MP620 should appear.

  • Upgrading from 4402 to 5508

Does anyone know of, or have any instructions on performing an upgrade from a 4402 to 5508?

If ur planning for config copy from one to another.. then here is the IMPORTANT instructions..
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/wireless/controller/7.0MR1/configuration/guide/cg_managing_ctrlr.html#wp1063850
Do  not download a configuration file to your controller that was uploaded  from a different controller platform. For example, a Cisco 5500 Series  Controller does not support the configuration file from a Cisco 4400  Series or 2100 Series Controller.
Its not suported!! if something goes wrong then please dont blame Cisco telling crappy products!! we have the written doc

  • S/W upgrade on 4402 WLC

We have a 4402 with S/W 3.2.150.6 and want to upgrade to 4.0.217.0 to match other controllers. We use APs which were converted to LWAP. My concern is, will the WLC 'forget' the self signed certificates it got when the APs were converted?

Certificates, self-signed or otherwise, should not be a problem for your upgrade. You can always create new self-signed certs on the controller and the AP's after the upgrade.
Be sure and read the release notes and ensure that your APs are supported in the newer release, and that the Open Caveats will not cause problems for you.

  • APs don't associate with 4402 controller at correct time

WLAN Controller 4402, software version 5.1.151.0; 1131AG APs
A problem started several weeks ago after the WLAN Controller was powered down/up in order to move power cords. Now, we are experiencing a problem with the 1131AG APs associating with the WLAN Controller at the correct time.
Network is a Wide Area Ethernet. The controller's interfaces are configured to use LAG and are connected to ports on a 4507 switch. There are 32 1131AG APs on the network. All switches and routers throughout the network are configured with either NTP or SNTP server parameters. The clock timezone and summer-time parameters are the same on all switches/routers throughout the network. The clocks on all switches/routers and the WLAN controller display the correct date and time of day.
We use an ACL on the switches to apply a time-range, since this cannot be done on the WLAN Controller. During the week, the VLAN that the APs are on should pass packets from 6:00 am to 9:15 pm.
For a week or so, the APs were not associating with the controller until 9:20 am, but were being blocked by the ACL at the correct time at 9:15 pm. Then the problem seemed to correct itself for a week or so. Now, it's started again in the last couple of days.
I've tried resetting a couple of the APs, but this didn't change anything. The problem still persists.
I've checked time parameters over and over, but everything displays the correct time. One thing that displays differently now, as opposed to when the problem originally surfaced several weeks ago. On the controller's web admin pages, the APs used to display the same time for Controller Association Time and Controller Association Latency. Oddly, this calculated to the 6:00 am time, even though the APs display ring was still flashing through the red-pink-chartreuse-amber cycle. Now, however, the Controller Associated Time and Controller Association Latency are different and exactly the 3 hours and 20 minute difference that would be expected.
    Rick

We use an ACL on the switches to apply a time-range, since this cannot be done on the WLAN Controller. During the week, the VLAN that the APs are on should pass packets from 6:00 am to 9:15 pm.
If you upgrade your PoE switches IOS to the 12.2(50) series, you'll get the option of EnergyWise.
Why don't you disable your time-based ACL and see if this works?

  • Upgrade a Domain Controller running Windows Server 2012 Datacenter Eval

    Hello,
because I couldn't wait for Server 2012 to show up on Dreamspark Premium I installed the Datacenter evaluation version after I found this blog
post telling me, I could simply enter my key when I get it to upgrade to the full version.
After entering the command I get notified that "Changing this Windows edition is not supported online for a domain controller.".
The TechNet article for upgrading evaluation versions states the following:
"If the server is a domain controller, see http://technet.microsoft.com/library/hh472160.aspx for important steps to follow before proceeding."
and taking me to an article for installing/uninstalling ADDS without further comments.
Simply typing "slui 3" and entering my key states that I have to enter an eval key.
My question is: Is there a painless way to upgrade my 2012 DC without losing my AD config?
    Regards,
    Hans

    Hi,
Please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article to confirm if the steps of converting to full retail version are correct.
Evaluation Versions and Upgrade Options for Windows Server 2012
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj574204.aspx
If the warning persists, it means Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller does not support such convert. If so, please install another Windows Server 2012 full retail version or
convert to full retail version and then promote it to an additional Domain Controller for this domain. After that, transfer FSMOs to this new Domain Controller and demote the original Domain Controller.

  • Cisco 4402 Controller and 1113 ACS Set up??

    Hello all,
I have a 4402 and 1113 I am trying to set up. I have tried everything to try and get the controller to talk to the 1113 with zero luck. Is there a step by step example configuration out there?

There are many reason why an AP is not able to join AP.One Main reason could be AP unable to deted the controller's IP address on the Domain.Refer URL

  • 4402 controller 4.2.61.0 code what waps work with this

I have a controller on code 4.2.61.0 that was upgraded to this..I have some of the legacy Nortel waps which I believe are now 1000 series cisco that constantly recycle..when waps are operational I see their code level is at 4.0.217.0 not at 4.2.61.0..does this code mean the end of those style of waps..and what waps are acceptable..thanks

    Hi John,
    You may have already solved this issue but I thought you may want to see this info that does show full support for the 1000 Series;
Cisco Unified Wireless Network Solution Components
The following components are part of the Cisco UWN Solution and are compatible in this release:
•Software release 4.2.61.0 for all Cisco controllers and lightweight access points
•Cisco autonomous to lightweight mode upgrade tool release 3.0
•Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) software release 4.2.62.0
    •Cisco WCS Navigator 1.1.62.0
    •Location appliance software release 3.1.35.0
    •Cisco 2700 Series Location Appliances
•Cisco 2000 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
•Cisco 2100 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
•Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
•Cisco Wireless Services Module (WiSM) for Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches
•Cisco Wireless LAN Controller Network Module for Cisco Integrated Services Routers
•Catalyst 3750G Wireless LAN Controller Switches
•Cisco 3201 Wireless Mobile Interface Card (WMIC)
    •Cisco Aironet 1000, 1100, 1130, 1200, 1240, 1250, and 1300 Series Lightweight Access Points

I'm not familiar with the Nortel relationship here, I thought the 1000 series was part of the old "AIRSPACE" (not sure about the spelling :) product line that was aquired by Cisco.
    Hope this helps!

  • Upgrading Autonomous to controller-based (AIR-SAP2602I)

                      Hello,
I don't know if coul possible upgrade an SAP2602i Autonomous  access point to controller-based?
Thanks in advanced for your help.
    Regards.

I don't know if coul possible upgrade an SAP2602i Autonomous  access point to controller-based?
Yes, it's very easy to convert an autonomous AP into controller-based.
All you need to do is download the controller-based recovery image (filename contains the "rcv"), copy the IOS into the AP and change the bootstring of the AP to boot the "rcv" file.

  • Embedded systems (PIC based): We are looking to upgrade our GPIB controller chip from Ines iGPIB7210 to a more "mainstream" chip and are interested in NI's offerings.

Ines provides a library of ANSI C source to drive their GPIB chip from any suitable processor (as do ComputerBoards). Do NI have a source code library for their driver chips? BTW it doesn't need GPIB "Controller" capability. The uP controlling the GPIB chip is a Microchip PIC18C452.

    Hi Mr James,
Thanks for your question ..We are also planning to have GPIB interface for our equipment .Again we are new to the interface design .For our equipment we dont need controller capability.I think Ni TNT 488.2 T/L is suitable for our application .But we are stuck with this ...Our equipment has a PIC 16c77 MCU.
If you can help regarding the procedures to be followed for having this GPIB interface that will be great!!!
I have some doubts regarding this.
    1. How we can use the TNT 488.2 chip in our equipment board.
    2. How we can controll this GPIB chip Is it is done by PIC controller?
    3. Is above PIC is compatible with TNT 488.2 T/L.
4.Do we need to program the GPIB chip.I know that there is a devoper kit ESP-488 package is there .How we can
develop program for GPIB using this package.
    5. Who will help in designing the same
    Please help me .
    Thanks in advance.
