Upgrade of primary line on account

When can I upgrade my primary line on my account. On a 2 year contract? I was told when I started my plan that the primary line could be upgraded at 12 months, all other lines would be 20 months.

The information you got is correct, the primary line will be eligible for an upgrade at 12 months, and the other lines will be eligible at 20 months.
Note that using the "Annual Upgrade" at 12 months will forfeit your New Every 2 credit (the $30 or $50 discount on top of the 2 year discounted pricing), possibly need to pay a $20 processing fee, and it will be the last Annual Upgrade you can use, because the program has been discontinued.

  • Upgraded primary line, phone not connected yet, want to use phone on 2nd line instead

I renewed my primary line (new every 2) and received a Convoy today. My husband doesn't want to use this phone and wants to stick with the Boulder which is the current phone on the primary line. How can I activate the new phone for my secondary line (which is on a month to month basis ie no contract basis, but not a prepaid phone)? A Verizon support person told me I could do this if we didn't want to use the Convoy on the primary line. I hope she was right.
    Thanks!

She would have been correct. If you dial 1-877-807-4646, punch in your husband's number when it requests it (it may request the account's password/last 4 of SSN as well). There will be an automated system that will ask you to accept the Terms & Conditions for the upgrade that was done on your husband's line. Note: this will extend the contract on your husband's line by 2 yrs which is a result of you getting the new phone at discounted pricing, but it will not effect your line's contract at all. Once you say you agree (by pressing option 1) it will ask if you would like to activate this device on your husband's line now. You're going to choose the option to do it later meaning you will not be activating it on your husband's line. Once it confirms your selection, you will hang up.
Before you activate the phone on your line, make sure your contacts are backed up from your previous phone so you can transfer them to the new one. Backup Assistant, a free app offered by BUA, will be excellent for this purpose. Once everything is backed up, you will first want to turn off your old phone and then dial *228 from the new phone (choose option 1). When it asks for you to input a number, you want to enter yours and then it will ask you to enter the account's password/last 4 of SSN. Afterwards it will activate the new phone on your line. You would just need to re-download BUA and follow the prompts to transfer the contacts. Then you'll be all set!

  • Primary Line Early Upgrade (in regards to amazonwireless and such)

Ok, so I looked through a few pages and found several upgrade questions, but not one like this, specifically. Unless I missed it, which is entirely possible.
My phone is the primary line, and I'm available for an actual upgrade in march of '12, but since it is the primary line I can upgrade now via My Verizon. However, Amazonwireless has the Rezound for 149 (upgrade price) which is 150 less than VZW, and is currently causing me to keep a copious amount of tissue nearby to wipe up the drool that keeps pooling at random places.
My question then, would be does anyone have any experience with VZW bumping up an upgrade for a primary line so that it will show on other websites? I realize it's a competitor's site so this is potentially a stupid question, but it's annoying that I can upgrade, but can't upgrade anywhere but on VZW. (I've tried checking through Amazonwireless and Wirefly, but they both list me as ineligible.)
I'm thinking it makes no difference, but I've been a VZW customer for only four years, with four lines in good standing, and I've yet to kill a baby panda.

It's kind of annoying. I talk to one person about moving my upgrade date up by 3 months since I'm already eligible for an upgrade and they say:
Ray: Do you think they would approve it being 3 months away, even though it's the primary line and can technically be upgraded right now?
    Cheryl: Yes they will
Ray: Ok, I'll try that. Thanks =)
And then I talk to the person that's supposed to be able to do that, but she tells me that since I'm already eligible for an upgrade they can't touch my upgrade date, which seems kinda odd. I'm not trying to say I'm entitled to anything in the least, it just seems that if I'm going to be upgrading and I could upgrade tomorrow if I wanted to pay 150.00 more than I can pay somewhere else, that they would at least try to get my phone and the other one I was planning on upgrading locked in, since it's been out of contract since May.
Oh well. Guess different reps have different rules.

  • Can I use a family members upgrade on another line?

So my mother currently has an upgrade on her line but doesn't intend to use it. I however do not have an upgrade until January but need to get a new phone. Instead of using the insurance and paying $150 for a replacement iPhone 4, I'd much rather just spend $199 for an iPhone 5...obviously. Is it possible for my mother to order an iPhone 5 on her account, and then activate it on my line so that I can use it?
I think I've heard that Verizon won't let you do this unless the new phone has been active on the original account for like 3 months, but that seems stupid to me. Why do they care who gets the phone?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can do that. What you would have to do (if you have a consumer account, not a business account) is first activate the phone on her line, deactivate the phone and then reactivate it on your line. As long as you are with the primary account owner, you can head to the Verizon store and they will do everything for you. It get's a little tricky if you try to go without the person who is the Account Owner (i've had problems in the past). But you can absolutely upgrade her line and then activate the phone for yours. They just can't transfer the upgrade since the phone is pre-ordered.

  • Non-"primary line" backup assistant management

how do you manage a non-primary line's backup assistant from the web?  seems like the only capability is to manage the primary line's contacts.  i have 5 lines and want to manage contacts on the other 4 phones.

You need to create a MyVerizon account for EACH of the lines; they will each have their own log in and password. Secondary lines will not see any billing information, but they will be able to manage backup assistant for the phone associated with that number.
Creating the accounts will take a bit of time initially, but backups can be automatic and once they are set up, it makes upgrading or swapping phones much easier.
If you get the message that the number is already registered, you'll need to log totally out of Verizon and possibly clear cookies before trying to register with each secondary number.
    HTH,

  • Early upgrade for secondary line

I was hoping maybe somebody could shed some light on a few questions I have about the whole "early upgrade" deal
For starters, I am a secondary line on a family share plan with 4 other people. I am the only one who has (and will be getting) a smartphone. Will I be able to upgrade to the Droid X  early even if I'm the only person out of 5 who gets a smartphone?
Also, I am listed as an "Account Manager" in the "My Verizon." Will the holder of the primary line need to be at the Verizon store to sign the new contract, or does my "account manager" status make me eligible to sign the new agreement?
Lastly, could the holder of the primary line wait until September (when all of us are actually due for an upgrade) to upgrade his phone and still be able to use his NE2 credit?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi.  I understand that you have questions regarding upgrading your phone and I can certainly help you from here.   In order to check to see if you have an early upgrade available, you can check the primary number on the account to see if it is eligible.  Only the primary number gets an early upgrade.  You can always order the phone on that number when they are eligible because when you receive the phone, you can activate it on the line you want.  You can check to see their upgrade eligibility by going to the "Shop" tab within your account, go to "Wireless" and click on the "Upgrade to new phone" option to check the dates for all of your lines.
If you are registered as an account manager online, you can login your account to order the phone, the account holder does not need to go to the store to sign a contract.   If you are classified as an Account Manager, that does make you eligible to upgrade phones on the account.
Yes, if one of your lines are eligible for an upgrade, you do not need to upgrade now.  You can wait and still get your discount.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks!

  • Can i upgrade icloud storage for secondary account?

My secondary account is used mostly for email.  I deleted a ton of them but somehow am still voer the 5GB limit.
I'm willing to pay the $100 upgrade to get rid of the hassle, but is theere a way to upgrade icloud storage for your secondary account?

You would probably have to temporarily make the secondary account the primary account to upgrade it.  To do this, go to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...delete the secondary account, then go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out of your primary account and choose Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in with your secondary account ID and upgrade the storage.
After upgrading the secondary account storage, reverse the procedure to assign the primary and secondary accounts back the way they were.

  • How to use upgrade for primary number on another number

The primary phone on our family contract is eligible for an early upgrade now but we want to upgrade the other phone.  Can this be done online or must I go to a Verizon store to do the switch?
As an aside, I want a smartphone so I can have a single device rather than a phone + Palm Pilot.  I'm not really interested in a data plan, but it is required for a smartphone.  Having read some of the postings, I know I'm not the only one annoyed by the requirement to have a data plan with a smartphone.

To use your annual upgrade, the easiest way will be to just upgrade as normal online or over the phone.  When the new phone arrives, activate it briefly on the primary line following the instructions included with the phone.  Once it's activated, you will have accepted the terms of your new contract, and you can re-activate the phone that was previously on that line by dialing *228 and selecting option 1 from the old phone.  The new phone will now be available to activate on any Verizon line you would like.

  • Transfer Upgrade from one line to another on the same plan.

Is it possible to transfer an upgrade from one line to a second line, and then have the phone that was used on the second line, be switched to the first line? If so, how would I go about doing this online?

Yes.  The account owner should be able to log in to MyVerizon and click on "Transfer this upgrade" when they view all of the upgrades available for their account.  If they don't have that option, another way is to just order the phone normally, then activate the new phone on the line it was ordered for briefly to accept the Terms & Conditions of the new contract.  Then you can activate the old phone from that line again, which will free the new phone up to be activated on the second line.
If you're getting a 4G phone, you'll want to call in to Customer Service before you start activating though, because the 4G SIM cards can complicate the activation process.

  • Upgrading with multiple lines

My phone (primary line) is available for an upgrade in October, but my wife's (secondary line) isn't until April. We're both grandfathered with the unlimited data plans.  If I upgrade mine in October, the family plan will convert to the tiered data plan.  What does this do for my wife's phone?  Will she continue to have unlimited data until she upgrades, or will she be forced into the tiered system?  Is there a way that she can early upgrade as well, without having to pay full price?

As long as you go into the tiered data when you upgrade in October your wife will be able to keep her unlimited until she upgrades. If you want to upgrade your wife's phone in October as well you could pay the ETF which would probably be about $100ish with how long you have been on contract. You also may be able to get the upgrade in October if you've been with Verizon long enough but that is no guarantee.

  • Change Primary Line

I have a family share plan with three phones on it. I am the owner of the account but some how when I added a line it became the primary one and mine is no longer it. I get a discount on plans and data packages at work but only for the primary line. How can I change the primary line back to my number?

Dial *611 from your phone and ask a representative to make the switch.  You can also take care of this in store.

  • Primary Line Change

Forgive me if this has been asked before. My wife and I have a Family Share Plan (>49.99 per month) and hers is the primary line. She recently upgraded using her NE2 discount. I am eligible for an upgrade in May. Would making my line the Primary line allow me to upgrade any sooner?

  • Transferring Upgrades to Different Lines

I'm attempting to upgrade my phone to a new Android phone, but my upgrade discount doesn't kick in until 8/12/10.  There are two other lines on the plan that have upgrades available already so I was hoping to transfer the upgrade to my line and use that to get my Android phone for cheaper.
My question is if I transfer the upgrade to my line, will the line that I transferred it from be able to upgrade that phone on 8/12/10 or would that upgrade go away?
    Thanks for any help.

You can do an alternate upgrade - if you are logged into MyVerizon as the primary line, you will see all the lines and be able to swap around the upgrades.  (Verizon seems to be making this a bit simpler)
Since your upgrade is only a week away, though, why complicate things?

  • Primary Number on Account

    Hey all!
First time here... does anyone know if you can change the primary number within an family account?  My husband's number is listed as the primary number by default but we have a company discount and if my number becomes the primary number (I have the data package) we would get a better price on our overall bill.
I just didn't know if I called them would they simply make my number the primary number and his one of the numbers added on as the family plan.

Hello community members!! Thanks for helping chezno figure out the best way to save on her VZW account. I just wanted to add my feedback on this question as well. In terms of employee discounts, what matters is the name and SSN of the Account Owner. In order for any account to enjoy an employee discount, the Account Owner and the employee must be one in the same. Therefore, if chezno's husband is the employee, she andher husband would want the VZW account to be in her husband's name. Insofar as the primary line, our new Account Level Pricing should eliminate the need to make that distinction. However, if for some reason chezno's account has not been migrated to Account Level Pricing, I can help!
Chezno, if you still need assistance on this matter, just send me a personal message through this forum. Include your first and last name, one of the mobile numbers on the account and a phone number were you can be reached. Thanks again all!
