Upgrade of Windows SP's have negative impact on BOBJ Landscape?

Dear Colleagues,
I hope you can help in this case.
Currently on BOBJ XI R2 FP 3.6 which is on Win Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 - if windows SP's are updated to the latest will this have an impact on the Business objects environment in particular Excel?
Is there any white papers or restrictions or issues or adverse effects encountered by just upgrading Windows SP or applying Windows patches?

Upgrading the Windows OS on your BusinessObjects servers is not going to impact your ability to export to Excel. The Excel interface is more on your client side, especially on your web browser's setting.
With that being said, you should always set up a test environment where you can apply the patch and see if it breaks anything. You should always test things out thoroughly before rolling out to production.

Data compression can have negative impact on application ?

Hi,
They are going to analyse table/index structure & go ahead with data compression in order to speed up the performance.
We have been asked to verify if data compression will have affect the application or not?
For ex: we run one process which we run through application which rebuild index of a big table. So I may put this thing in effect.
But could please help me which all areas I should focus and investigate before asking them to proceed for data compression?

Upgrade to Windows 10; HP_RECOVERY partition for Windows 7 still needed

I intend to update the Windows 7 operating system ( Professional, 64 bit) on this Compaq 8100 machine to Windows 10 in the near future.On this machine a disk partition (HP_RECOVERY, 11 GB) contains elements for Windows 7 system recovery.I assume that the data in this partition is of no further relevance, once the update to Windows 10 was successful.I therefore intend to delete all the file therein and use the space for useful other data. Since I maintain backup files with Acronis, I can always restore the deleted files if needed. Any comments on this intension to delete the "recovery files". Any reservations about doing so ?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 and have a have a hard disk image backup with Acronis you may delete to recovery partition after 30 days, presumably D. It is probably corrupted anyway after the upgrade.

Can't enter BIOS or upgrade to Windows 10

I've spent all day trying to upgrade to Windows 10, but have just received one error after another. I've tried Windows' update troubleshooter (which says that it fixes an error, but I still get errors trying to update to Windows 10) and doing the update via MediaCreationToolx64.exe, but nothing seems to help (although sometimes it changes the error code). Finally I decided to do a clean install of Windows 8.1, and then maybe I'll try to update to 10 again. So I created a bootable USB of Windows 8.1 (using Microsoft's mediacreationtool.exe). However, I'm unable to enter the BIOS on this computer. When I start it up, there is no text telling me what to press to enter the BIOS. Googling tells me that F2 is the normal key, but that doesn't work (with our without FN). I've tried all of the other F-number keys with and without FN, but none of them work. I've tried updating the BIOS using this: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u410/downloads/ds101011 However, when I try that, I just get the message: "ERROR 182 - BIOS image is equal or older than ROM!" How can I do a clean install of Windows 8.1?

Thanks! The recovery button worked. I then did a clean install of Windows 10 directly over Windows 8.1, and it worked fine! I know all the websites say that you need to do the update first, and then do a clean install, but I didn't, and now Windows 10 is working fine and says that it's activated.

Loss of sound on pavilion dv6700 since upgrading to Windows 10

since upgrading to windows 10 I have lost my audio.....can't play MP3 music and the system sounds do not work...searched for sound card driver and found three recommended...each one reported suitable hardware not found.....decided to reinstall the sound card driver from my windows 7 install, as luckily I backed up all my drivers before upgrading to OS10.....,although it installed, still no sound...have removed device and drivers and let the laptop reinstall after restart.....don't know what else to try.....don't suppose there is a function key muting sound that I don't know about....thanks

I read your post on the HP Support Forums and see that you are having issues with your HP Pavilion dv6700 Entertainment Notebook PC. I understand that since you have upgraded to Windows 10, you are having an issue with your sound not working. I would be happy to assist you. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Have you tried in the Device Manager to update the driver that is currently installed? Have you tried to select "Find New Hardware" in the Device Manager?Have you tried connecting headphones to see if the Sound issues persist that way?Have you tried to uninstall in the following order: 1. Uninstall the sound driver in Device Manager2. Restart your Notebook3. Reinstall the driver? You can use the HP Support Assistant for drivers. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. If you choose to download the drivers from the HP Driver's Page and there is not a driver in the Windows 10 Column, there should be one in the Windows 8.1 column. The Windows 8.1 drivers should work in Windows 10 also. Have you tried the Disable and then Enable method? I have just upgraded my laptop from vista to windows 7, I have all my music on an external as the library is to large for hard disk. I have downloaded Itunes 11 but cannot fathom a way of getting my new itunes to connect with my external library.

Question: I have upgraded my windows vista to windows 7, I have all of my itunes music stored onto an external due to the size of content, so in vista all of my music in itunes had a path to F (external library). But now I have upgrade to windows 7, I cannot get itunes to recognise my library from my external. I have tried to connect external and open itunes with shift key down with both suggestions but to no avail. please help, all I want is to keep my library on external not on hard drive. I have also gone to preferences/advanced and made sure the external drive is chosen. This seems so complicated and I thought it would have been easy...

At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.

I want to install Windows 7 on my imac in bootcamp. I have a windows 7 upgrade disk and a full vista disk. Normally on a PC I would install Vista, then upgrade to Windows 7. I see that bootcamp 4 only supports Windows 7.
Can I install the Windows 7 upgrade disk without first installing Vista? Will this work in bootcamp?

Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS.

I have a sony laptop with windows 7 (64 bit) which I upgraded to windows 8 64 bit. But the machine had to be formatted and this time loaded windows 8 32 bit. Now I have tried itunes for 32bit win 8 as well as for 64bit win 8 but none is getting installed

Thank you for your suggestion. I backup on itunes. I went to itunes, deleted syncing my contacts, then re-synced them. But the Facetime capability option continues to be there on most (not all, for some curious reason) of my contacts. I am not sure I posed my question correctly. I want to be able to FT with my family, so don't want to delete the FT capability totally from my iphone and ipad. But I don't want all these other iphone calls from various contacts to ring on my ipad as FT calls. I want a way to select with whom I have FT capabilities. Any further suggestions? I would recommend the steps in the article below. See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

There's been an update for OSX ML which addresses the issue for installing Windows 8 on bootcamp.
It's NOT recommended that you Upgrade.. However, the way to get the drivers is:
You'll need an external USB drive formatted as FAT for this.
1) In OSX, start the Bootcamp Assistant
2) Press Next
3) UNTICK 'Remove WIndows 7 or Later Version'
4) TICK Download the Latest Windows Support Software from Apple
5) Insert USB drive
6) Press CONTINUE
The drivers should download, and copy a WIndowsSupport folder onto the USB drive.
I did notice that Windows 8 still requires beta drivers for some aspects such as VGA (the Radio HD Card), which you can get on the AMD website.
Futhermore, why are you using Windows 8 "32" bit when you blatently have a powerful 64bit?

I see at least 3 errors
1. <RegionRenderer> <encodeAll> The region component with id: pt1:r1 has detected a page fragment with multiple root components.
the page fragment should only have a single component under the jsp:root tag. If you see more than one, wrap them in e.g. an af:panelGroupLayout or af:group component
2. SAPFunction.jspx/.xml" has an invalid character ".".
check the document (you can open it in JDeveloper if the customization was a seeded one. Seems that editing this file smething has gone bad
3. The expression "#{bindings..regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "pePanel") evaluated to null.
"pageeditorpanel" does seem to be missing in the PageDef file of the page holding the region
