Grey colored disks are those that came with the machine. They can only be used on the same model so are useless for anyone else. Since your Mac never shipped with 10.5 no grey disks will work for you. You need the retail version which has a big X on it with a purple background.
512mb of memory with Leopard can be sluggish. It runs but slows down a lot if you try more than just web surfing.

Sorry about that, yes, 10.5 and 10.6 on Intel can run Firefox 4.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
You could install Firefox 3.6 over Firefox 4 (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

If you want 1080, you will need to purchase the new Apple TV.

For Mom who needs little: Old mini or new mini?

I am upgrading my Mom from a 1994 Performa to a Mini, but I am on the fence as to previous version for $400ish or new version for $500ish. I want this to be as low budget as you go for a new mac. If it was a $3,000 mac I would get newer, but for $100 off at this low level I could most of a new flat LCD for the difference.
Both new and old are plenty powerful/large for her email/www needs and occasional Word/Xcel and iPhoto/iTunes;-) I don't think she will be burnings lots of discs (I can do it on my mac for her every year need)
SO my question would be...do you think firewire 400/800, superdrive, and any differences in monitor ports make a $100 difference?? I sound cheap, but maybe the newer mini might have some "cons" that I did not think of?? She may have this mac for another 5-10 years so is there a tangible reason to get the newer?

I totally subscribe to the "buy as much as you can afford" thing but this is such a cheap computer that I am aiming to max its low-end-ness. I don't think she will use more than 1gb RAM or have more than 80gb hd needs. The stats on the old mini seem just fine, but maybe there are intangibles that would lean the choice? Here is my choice:

Hello, your iPad is 'Activation Locked' as a part of 'Find My iPad'.
Log onto www.icloud.com, go to 'Find My iPhone'. Then select 'All Devices', your old iPad will probably show here, select 'Remove from Account'.
If there is no option to 'Remove from Account' ask the current owner to switch iPad off for a while, and remove from account should show in 5 minutes or so.

my current projest is going to be 90 to 120 minuets long but im trying to keep it at 90. i recently stopped working on the project. i found my mac does not burn a dvd, and i am running out of space fast on my hard drive. Now should I spend the cash and purchase an external hard drive and dvd burner and also upgrade the mac mini to a 3 or 4 gig ram. will this produce the quailty video or should a scrap the project start over and purchase the mac pro and sell the mini for what ever i can get for it. any help in this matter will be great.

There is such a gap between you Mini and the Mac Pro its almost difficult to begin. If you are serious about editing, if you are going to be doing multiple projects and especially if you are going to be working in some flavour oh HD ... and if you can actually afford to go Pro ... then do so.
I have one of the original single core Minis and nowadays use it basically to load footage onto an external HDD, scan pictures, that sort of thing. All the real editing is done on my G5
I believe you can only upgrade the Mini's RAM to 2 gigs (could be wrong there) and if you don't even have a burner ... All Mac Pros come with a burner you can put a ton of RAM in them and a ton of internal HDD so that really does make sense.
The "quality" of your video will not change, that is dependent on your original cam footage and you will be using the same editing program. Everything will be faster, you will likely have more RT to work with and you will have a more dedicated editing work station.

Just got my new imac and have discovered it is without a cd/dvd drive. Since I have converted from a mac mini can I use the old mini as an external drive, and how do I do that if the response is yes?

My last cd/dvd burner was a LaCie, and it worked perfectly for three years before a bronze sculpture fell off a shelf and landed on it, putting a big dent right in the top of the metal case. I thought that would be the end, but it kept working perfectly, dent and all, for another two years before I finally replaced it.
When my current drive needs to be replaced, that will be a LaCie, too. Same with their external hard drives. And no, I don't work for them.

Will the Airport from the new mini work in the old mini.

I have a MacMini (Intel 2008 model) and I don't use the Airport in it. I want to remove the Airport in that mini and install it in my old MacMini (PPC 2006 model) which doesn't have Airport right now it has a usb wireless stick. I gave that old mini to my mother and she keeps forgetting that the sick is for her internet and removing it. it will also free up that usb port since right now there is no free usb port. I assume the old PPC you have is a Mac Mini 1.42GHZ or 1.5GHZ G4 from 2005/2006, which should have shipped with AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR pre-installed. What happened to it?
Anyway, both Mac mini models support Airport Extreme cards, but looking at the repair guides from ifixit.com, the Airport extreme cards look to be different in size.

If you are a developer, or have a similar personality, there is an aftermarket EFI-64 "work-alike" program you can load into memory instead of 64-bit firmware. It is too complicated for regular folks.
You must already have upgraded your Memory and your graphics card to use this solution, and your Mac will not operate quite normally. Any problems with it are unsupported.

Cannot turn off passcode after ios8 upgrade - iPad mini

Upgraded iPad mini to ios8 and cannot turn off the passcode. In settings, I can turn it off but it tells me that I need to set a passcode within 60 minutes. It then counts down and requires me to set a passcode once 60 minutes are up. Also does not let me change duration of passcode (from immediately to 4 hours for example). Any thoughts on how to turn it off? Thanks.

is this your iPad or one administered by someone else...for example if I use an iPad from work our IT policy dictates that I must use a passcode and I am not allowed to turn it off.
If it's yours, just a shot in the dark, do you have restrictions enabled? If so, go in and disable them then see if that will allow you to turn off the passcode lock.

Can I use RAM from "old" MIni in an Intel Mini?

Subject line pretty much says it all. I have two 1GB card from two "old" Minis that I'd like to install into each of the two slots of an Intel Mini that has 512 MB.
