Upgrade on CRS Multichassis

Hi ,
I have a question regarding CRS multichassis upgrades that when we upgarde the multichassis do we need to have  code and all the SMU's and PIE in all the RP's or just in DSC RP's ( i.e ) Once DSC boots with the right code will it sync the new code and pacakges with other RP's as well ?
Thanks
Vishal

Hi Vishal,
An upgrade on a MC system is essentially the same. You need to use the 'install add', 'install activate', and 'install commit' sequence.
During the add phase the packages are added to the disk of all RPs and SCs (shelf-controllers), during activation the code is changed on all RPs and SCs and other appropriate actions are taken for other nodes such as CPU0 and SP complexes.. Then of course we have the commit phase to ensure that the code is persistent.
When a RP, for instance, boots up if it is not dSC it will contact the dSC and sync over package information. The same, kind of, goes for LCs. LCs will contact the dSC and get the information they need when they go to boot.
If you meant a turboboot of a MC then this is also similar to a SC (single-chassis) turboboot with 2 RPs. Only 1 RP in any system can be turbobooted as it needs to be dSC.

Sam

we have 3 node cluster HP -UX 10.2.0.3.0. We have upgraded the CRS to 10.2.0.5.0 on all the 3 nodes. 2 of the nodes are up and running. But on the 3rd node the CRS does not startup.

    Hello Marc,
i think you are mixing up two things
    10.1.0.4 = 10g R1 with Patchset 4
    10.2.0.2 = 10g R2 with Patchset 2
    10.2.0.4 = 10g R2 with Patchset 4
So you always upgrade from 10g R1 to 10g R2 .. and then is the question which Patchset for 10g R2.
I would use 10gR2 with Patchset 4, because there are some nice features and not so many bug fixes to apply.

  • LDAP Change in Upgrade from CRS XI to CRS 2008

We are in the process of upgrading from Crystal Reports Server XI R1 to Crystal Reports Server 2008 R1.  Both systems are up and operational on separate Windows virtual servers.  The old XI installation was using LDAP authentication from a SUN server.  The new 2008 installation is using LDAP authentication from an IBM Directory Server.
The question that I have is related to using the Import Wizard.  Since we have different third party LDAP authentication vendors and both are operating correctly right now, can we export all of the users, groups, folders, objects, instances, etc from the XI box to the 2008 box?  I know we have to import everything together in order to preserve security, but will it work with different types of LDAP users?  The LDAP group is different and I wasn't sure if CRS 2008 would recognize the users from the other LDAP group.  I cannot find any documentation on changing LDAP server types for an import.

Sorry for the confusion, I did not state that question very clearly.  That is exactly what I meant.  There is only one group for LDAP that we are not using for security.  We have Enterprise groups that we have created that we are using for the bulk of our security setup.  I'd like to import the Enterprise groups then assign the new users to imported Enterprise groups.
Thanks so much for your response.  It was very helpful!

  • Crystal Report Server XIR2 upgrade to CRS 2008V1

    Hi,
I am planning to upgrade my Crystal Report Server XI R2 to CRS 2008 V1. I was thinking of testing in separate machine as a fresh installation and migrating everything using the Import Wizard. I have one concern on this- after I test everything on that new machine, the existing Crystal Production Server machine will no longer be used right? I was wondering if my boss wants me to use the same old machine for production. If so then would I be able to migrate everything from that new test machine to the existing Production machine without affecting the old version in production. For that do I have to install a fresh copy in existing production and then migrate from test machine?

    Hi,
well you will certainly affect the old version in production.
Cause when you initially migrated from Rel.2 to 2008 you cant go back. So unfortunalty you have to install 2008 on the old server.

  • Upgrade from CRS 3.5(2) to 7.0

    Hi,
I have two questions about upgrading CRS (IPCC and IVR) from 3.5(2) to 7.0:
(1)Is it possible to reuse all the old scripts? Can we just upload all the scripts to the new system?
    (2) Is it possible to let UCCX7.0 and IP IVR 7.0 co-exist on one server?
    Thanks a lots.

The first thing to understand is the upgrade path for CCM (now UCM). Each version of CCX has specific versions of CCM/UCM it is compatible with. Generally speaking, an upgrade of one requires an upgrade to the other.
Software and Hardware Compatibility Guide for Cisco  Unified CCX and Cisco Unified IP IVR
The only actual upgrade path is to get to version 4.0(5)a. From there you can upgrade to 7.0 using a migration tool. A full server format is required between 4.x and 7.x for CCX. Also during this migration you will need to migrate UCM to the Linux appliance based model. Plan carefully.
    Cisco CRS Installation Guide, 4.0(5)
UCCX Data  Migration Tool Guide 4.0.5x to 7.0.1
Installation Guide for Cisco Unified CCX and Cisco  Unified IP IVR, Release 7.0(1)
In some scenarios there is such a significant amount of work to get from the 3.x train to a current release it is easier to backup the data manually and start over.

  • Upgradation From CRS 4.0(4) to IPCC 8.5.1

I am recently engaged with upgrading CRS 4.0(4) to IPCC (Contact Center Express) 8.5.1. I understand that it is a step by step Installation. Can someone please advise me with the correct upgrade path with the correspoding tools and considerations that needs to be followed.
    Thank you.

    Hi Joseph,
DMT (Data Migration Tool) supports the backup process on a system running CRS 4.0(5/5a) and its services releases (SR1 and SR2) including ES releases, if any.
So please bring your exisitng version to CRS 4.0(5) and use the below procedure to upgrade it to UCCX 7.0(1).
    http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282467017/23664/UCCX_DataMigrationTool_Guide_405x-701.pdf
For downloading the DMT tool use the below link,
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=270569179&softwareid=282467017&release=2.0%281%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
Also make sure that you have the supported hardware for the UCCX versions for the upgraded versions.
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=270569179&softwareid=282467017&release=2.0%281%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
Note: Also note that you need to upgrade the CUCM to the compatible versions wrt to UCCX versions. Make sure to have the UCCX licenses , for that you can contact [email protected] for further details.
From UCCX 7.0(1) after successful restore from the DMT tool, you need to upgrade this setup to UCCX 7.0(1) SR5,
    For release notes,
    http://www.cisco.com/web/software/280840578/29919/Release_Notes_for_Unified_CCX_7.0.1_SR5.pdf
For UCCX 7.0(1) SR5 software refer the below link,
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=270569179&softwareid=280840578&release=9.0%281%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
So from here you can use the Windows to Linux upgrade path
Unified CCX 8.5(1) offers a direct solution for Cisco Unified CCX 7.0(1) SR5, using the Windows to Linux upgrade path
    For procedure:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/installation/guide/uccx851_ug.pdf
    For software:
    http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=270569179&softwareid=282988762&release=9.0%281%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
    Hope this helps.

  • Need methodology for upgrading/migrating CRS Home from 11g to 12c RAC.

Is there a detailed step-by-step guide on how to migrate from Windows 64bit RAC dual node cluster from 11g to 12C?

  • Upgrading CRS RP to CRS PRP

    Hi everybody,
I've to upgrade a CRS-1/8 single chassis from RP (3.8.2) to PRP (4.1.2).
     I'm studying the following document:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/crs/software/crs_r4-0/migration/guide/prpmigration.pdf
I'm trying to deeply understand the "Method 3 - Routing Processor Swap Method" (this is the one I think I will use), but I've some dubts:
    1) Do I have to upgrade RP rommon (now is  1.53) before proceding with the RP<->PRP swapping? Do I have to do this upgrade even if I'm going to replace RP card?
    2) Does anybody has a clear and brief procedure for rommon upgrade?
I would welcome any suggestions about this migration and any answer about my questions.
    Thanks in advance.

Here is the notes from 10.0.3 migration kit.
"Note: There is no migration path from older versions of CRS to CRS 10.0. To use the 10.0 version, install
and configure a new instance of CRS using the instructions in the ATG Commerce Reference Store
    Installation and Configuration Guide."
    So you have two steps:
    1. Install CRS 10.X version
    2. Upgrade your custom module to 10.0 with migration kit provided, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25677_01/index.html
And regarding the LOE, it depends upon the customization that impact the upgrade.
The average time it takes is about 90 days for one resource. And testing is separate which takes almost about a month for 2 resources.

  • CRS-1/8 upgrade from 3.9.2 to 4.3.0

    Hi everybody!
    I'm trying to upgrade a CRS-1/8 from 3.9.2 to 4.3.0
    1) It's a CRS-1 with redundant RPs, I think it's not a problem.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/routers/ps5763/product_bulletin_c25-663499.html
    2) Current rommon version is 1.54. Also looks fine.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/routers/crs/software/crs_r4.3/rommon/configuration/guide/b_rommon_cg_43xcrs_chapter_0110.html
    3) Procedure:
To minimize downtime I used a PCMCIA card with 4.3.0 previously installed in a LAB router.
Without powering down the router I removed both RPs.
    I inserted my disk0: with 4.3.0 in RP0 and inserted RP0.
The router started to boot up, but it went into a boot up loop. It didn't show any errors or failures.
I broke the loop with Ctrl+c, and in rommon could't see disk0:.
To recover, I used this procedure, but didn't try the upgrade again.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/4045146#4045146
Bootflash was corrupted. I assume I did it myself, but what should I do to prevent this from happening again?
    Any advice?
    Thanks, Diego.

    Hi Diego,
to run 4.3.0 on CRS you need to upgrade rommonA and B with a version ≥ 2.01 beforehand.
Please note we officially support a PIE upgrade N+2. I.e. A direct upgrade from 3.9.2 to 4.3.0 is not supported officially.
    It may work, though.
The alternatives you have is either Turboboot or an interim step e.g. 3.9.2 to 4.1.2, then 4.1.2 to 4.3.0.
But nevertheless you have to upgrade rommon first.
    Regards
    Frank

  • Error after upgrade CRS 4.0.4SR1 to 4.0.5SR2

    Hi,
I've got some errors after upgrading my CRS 4.0.4SR1 cluster to 4.0.5SR2.
First my publisher's status stay in "patch" status for near 2 days now. I'm not able to change anything in the configuration, i've got this message "Config Changes are not allowed during 'Patch' operation, which was started by  '_ccbu_build' at 'Thu Apr 08 04:31:04 CEST 2010 '. Please try again after  'Patch' is complete."(ERREUR02.jpg). How can I change this status?
Then I've got errors in historical DB which is working but not on the publisher only on subscriber. How can I resynchronize this DB?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Tammy for the reply

  • Crs upgrade

How to upgrade a Oracle 10g CRS in ORacle 5 node Rac?
i search on net and found some doc for it.
But want to know its pros and crons of upgrading a CRS and 101% accurate way of doing it.

Indeed this turned out to be a Java issue.
We tried to force the matter by installibng the latest JRE on the server. This made not much difference initially, and we went to TAC.
The TAC engineer asked us to put in the relevant path to JAva.exe in the system %path% variable and then to ensure that path also featured the java library directory in the root of the upgrade media.
This allowed us to work the upgrade tool, and we could see the button to click when BARS completed.
However, after following the upgrade procedure to the letter, the upgrade worked, but failed to retain the data from the 3.5 system.
At that point I decided to uninstall CRS 3.5 and remove all relevant directories from the server, then installed 4.0(4) successfully. All I had to do was upload scripts, convert using the CRS 4 editor and upload prompts etc.
We are now ready to go live.
My advice is to do the uninstall and install 4.0 on as clean as possible a platform you can.
    /Chris

  • Upgrade Oracle RAC 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7, on linux

    Hi,
I would just know where I can find a complete guide to upgrade my Oracle RAC 11.1.0.6 to the version 11.1.0.7.
    It's running on a RedHat 5 (Linux version 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5)
I think I've first to upgrade the crs, than the database, is it correct?
    Thanks in advance,

    correct,
the steps are always in official guides provided with the patchsets , from My Oracle Support.

  • Rolling upgrade in MAA database with 2 node RAC on each site

    All,
I have 2 node rac on SITE A, and it has Physical Standby database on SITE B it also 2 node RAC. Currently it is on 10.2.0.4 on AIX systems. We have mission crictical application runing and we can't aford the downtime of 5 to 6 hr to upgrade our CRS,ASM,DB oracle homes to 11G or even 10.2.0.5. I read rolling upgrade document on metalink and also documnet as well, and come up with following sequence.
SITE A==Primary Site, SITE B == Standby database
    1) Shutdown DB on SITE B
    2) Take the OS Level Backup of Binaries only on SITE B (Both node), I think this is just a Precautionary Measure
    3) Start the DB on SITE B Still Physical Standby database let it synch with primary Site SITE A
    4) Convert SITE B to Logical standby database
    5) let it run for some time and be the two site SYNCH
    6) now stop archivelog shipping to STANDBY SITE SITE B
    7) Shutdown SITE B and apply the patch/upgrade binaries (CRS/ASM/DB)
    8) Start and upgrade the DB on SITE B
    9) Start the logical standby apply (SQL APPLY) and let it catch up with SITE A
    10) Now Switchover to logical standby database on SITE B and ask application to connect to SITE B
    11) Make sure the archivelogs are moving from SITE B to SITE A and SQL Apply is runing.
    12) Now Stop archive log flow from SITE B to SITE A
    13) Stop the database/ASM/CRS on SITE A
    14) upgrade the SITE A binaries (CRS/ASM/DB)
    15) Start and upgrade the DB on SITE A
    16) Start the logical standby apply (SQL APPLY) and let it catch up with SITE B
    17) Now Switchover Back to SITE A and let the application connect to SITE A
At this point by SITE B is a Logical Standby database
I think these summaries the steps involved in rolling upgrade, but I can't understand how I can go back to my MAA with physical standby database mode?
Does anyone has done this? Can anyone give me some tips or comments on my steps??
Help me if you can... thanks in advance.
