Upgrade openssl in solaris 9

Hi,
Can any one provide me the procedure/steps to upgrade the OpenSSL version from 0.9.7d to 0.9.8za in Solaris 9 ?
I did Google search on this. But unfortunately didn't get any documents/answers regarding this.
Thanks in advance

As these both version are incompatible in term of API, we don't provide it. But, you can still find and download from internet like from the Sunfreeware website or from one of these mirrors.

  • Upgrading GIMP in Solaris 10

I would like to upgrade GIMP in Solaris 10 to the version used in Solaris Express DE.
What is the best way to do this?

i didnt however i wasnt hammering it. if the load was expected to be high i would have done the io layout diff (try and follow some of oracles ideas: SAME for one, if possible).
some depends on the load and the load from the other zones. you can use allocate resource limits to give more priority to more important zones or make sure you have enough resources to start. what type of load are you expecting?

  • Oracle 11.2.0.3 upgrade running on Solaris 10 using zfs/zones

    Hello,
We currently run solaris 10 using zfs/zones.
We have a global zone and several sparse root zones.
The oracle upgrade (from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3) prerequiste check is reporting the following warnings:
OS kernel parameter "tcp_smallest_anon_port" plus 3 other warnings for tcp_largest_anon_port and for the udp ports as well
This requires that we use ndd to change the values for these ports in the global zone.
These changes will affect all of the sparse root zones and not just the one we are upgrading Oracle in.
Will this pose any problems or is safe to make these port changes in the global zone.
    Thanks
    Kevin

I would recommend you log an SR with Support

  • Upgrading Ultra 5 Solaris 2.6 to V280 with Solaris 8 or 9

Our Ultra 5 still runs Solaris 2.6. What's the easiest way to upgrade this box (hardware and OS), without having to re-install all apps? We're looking at used V280s, but I figure they will not run Solaris 2.6, so an upgrade is needed. Should I first upgrade to 8 or 9 on the Ultra 5, and then move the dump files (or disks?) on to the the V280? This sounds like it's not going to work. Otherwise, what's a smooth hardware transition for an Ultra 5, for us to get newer harware and OS?
Budget is limited. I can't try out many scenarios.

Solaris is backward compatable, perhaps you should try to migrate on a test platform first, shouldn't be too difficult to get another SPARC system. I use 220R for this, cheap on parts, very reliable and has a broad range of supported OS releases, limited only in performance compared with newer systems.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E220R/E220R.html
I agree with you on the hardware upgrade, Ultra 5 is a platform with many limitations. I am not 100% with Informix, my experience with it is on the HU-UX platform, however IBM released version 10 in 2005.
    http://safari.oreilly.com/0130122475
One thing is sure though, if you approach IBM regarding the upgrade, you may be looking a new/upgrade licenses, this may be the reason the managment have not taken that option.
Another suggestion would be to consider another server that supports Solaris 2.6 instead of the 280R, this would make life much easier, Sun Enterprise 420R may suit, at least you will find a fully loaded system to perform much better than the Ultra 5 ( supports up to 4 CPUs and 4GB RAM ).
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E420R/E420R.html
For more expansion ( CPUs and Memory ), but more complicated there is a E4500 as well:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E4500/E4500.html
Moving to a new platform is not going to be cheap either way, but software migration will be the more expensive route.
Sun offer both of the above mentioned systems with full as new warranty in the remanufactured program:

  • Can't upgrade V245 to Solaris 10 5/09

    Hi!
We have a *{color:#800000}V245{color}* running Solaris 10 8/07 with the following firmware:
    SC Version v1.6
    SC Bootmon Version v1.6.1
    Firmware version 1.18.05.00
My /etc/vfstab shows a mirrored drive (I didn't set it up)
    h4. /dev/md/dsk/d10 /dev/md/rdsk/d10 / ufs 1 no logging
    h4. #/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3 /metadb ufs 2 yes logging
When trying to upgrade the system, after verifying the OS, I get this message:
h4. The Solaris Version (Solaris 10) on slice d10 (c0t0d0s0
    h4. c1t1d0s0) cannot be upgraded.
h4. A file system listed in the file system table (vfstab) could not
    h4. be checked by fsck.
So it forces me to install a fresh OS, which we want to avoid.
I mention the firmware version because I have another server (exact same configuration apparently) and I was able to upgrade without a problem, but it had the old firmware ( *1.08.04.00*)
    Anybody has experience with this?
Can I downgrade the firmware version to upgrade the OS and the upgrade the FW again?

Sorry to tell you, but 10.6 will only install on intel machines, your G5 is not an intel machine, it's a PowerPC.

  • Problem with Upgrading Firmware of Solaris 10

I have X4500 running solaris 10 with 5.10 version. The ILOM version is 1.1.1 and I want to upgrade the firmware. I setup the TFTP server on my machine using the following link.
    http://docs.sun.com/source/819-7247-10/app_tftp.html
I could install the tftp server and could transfer a file as well. When I use tftp localhost and use get command it works fine. But when I login to my ILOM port and give the IP address of my X4500 machine it say's connection timed out and firmware upgrade failed.
    I use load -source tftp://134.197.38.228/ilom.X4500-1.1.8.ima.
Someone please help me with this. I have a problem using Web GUI and I have got only this option to upgrade.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Have you upgraded the firmware with correct version number. If the firmware is not correct, you can get the problem like this.
Hard-reset the router for 2 minute,Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now,open the setup page and check.

  • DB upgrade during a Solaris upgrade using live upgrade feature

    Hello,
Here is the scenario. We are currently upgrading our OS from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. And there is also a major database upgrade involved too. To help mitigate downtime, the Solaris Live Upgrade feature is being used by the SA's. The DB to be upgraded is currently at 9i and the proposed upgrade end state is at 10.2.0.3.
Does anyone know if it is possible to do at least part of the database upgrade in the alternate boot environment created during the live upgrade process? So lets say that I am able to get the database partly upgraded to 10.2.0.1. Then, I want to run the patch set for 10.2.0.3 in the alternate boot environment and do the upgrade of the instance there too so that when the alternate boot environment is booted to the primary boot environment, I can, in effect, just start up the database.
That's sort of a high level simplified version of what I think may be possible.
Does anyone have any recommendations? We don't have any other high availability solutions currently in place so options such as using data guard do not apply.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi magNorth,
I'm not a Solaris expert but I'd always recommend not to do both steps (OS upgrade and database upgrade) at the same time. I've seen to many live scenarios where either the one or the other has caused issues - and it's fairly tough for all three parties (You as the customer, Sun Support, Oracle Support) to find out the end what was/is causing the issues.
    So my recommendation would be:
    1) Do your Solaris upgrade from 9 to 10 and check for the most recent Solaris patches - once this has been finished and run for one or two weeks successfully in production then go to step 2
    2) Do your database upgrade - I would suggest not going to 10.2.0.3 but directly to 10.2.0.4 because 10.2.0.4 has ~2000 bug fixes plus the security fixes from April2008 - but that's your decision. If 10.2.0.3 is a must then at least check Note:401435.1 for known issues and alert in 10.2.0.3 and for both cases the Upgrade Companion: Note:466181.1
    Kind regards
    Mike

You look at the tab Upgrades:
    There are 2 steps:
Step 1 - Prior Certification Requirements
    Step 2 - Pass Exam
My question 2, is about the Step 1
This relates to to the upgrade path route to Oracle Solaris 11 System Administrator certification.
The key point in your question is how the prior certification requirements "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" should be interpreted
And in particular is the "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification" (Attained via 1z0-876) included within that.
    ==== Answer ====
Unfortunately for you the answer is no.  However while my providence in this area is excellent I am not authorative and I would recommend it you have any doubt to raise a support call at Oracle University - Support Form subject "Certification Upgrade Path" for a definitive answer.
    ==== Comments ====
    1. I am not entirely happy with the wording: "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version"
It is OK when interpreted as
"Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator"    ( This clearly does not encompass the Oracle Solaris 10 OCA)
    OR
"Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" ( Which essentially Encompasses SCSA 10,9,8,... when the certifications were under sun (and regarded as OCP level by Oracle) ... but not the Sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS )
    2. OCP Upgrade exams  are only from a version at a prior OCP level.  This means the training requirement was met at a prior OCP level version or the OCP level was achieved at a previous version before a training requirement was introduced.
(The special exceptions of 1z0-067/1z0-034 have just been introduced for Oracle DBA but these retain a training requirement at the higher version ... nobody would touch attempting these until oracle certification offered free beta vouchers and had the Oracle Certification Help Center besieged by those who missed out!)
3: My understanding is the sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS was designed a single exams certification for people wishing a solaris certification not wishing to take on an SCSA and knowing the in's and out of system administrator things like OPENBOOT firmware and backups etc.  Things that perhaps say a developer would not need to know.  When taking over from Sun as the Certification had Associate in it they felt appropriate to may it to the name "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification".  Nowadays it starting from scratch undoubtably that exam would be an OCS certification.  For Oracle Solaris 11 System administrator they were able to map the 1z0-821 exam to an OCA and 1z0-822 to an OCP in line with they more typical model.

  • Upgrading Graphics for Solaris 8 on Dell laptop

I installed solaris 8 for Intel on a Dell Laptop. I could only get the 16 color option working.
What drivers or patches can I use and where can I get them????

    Hi,
I don't know what video card you have, but I just downloaded this porting kit for solaris8 intel. It work perfectly on my desktop Dell 4100. I think it will also work for the dell laptop. The porting kit is NOT XFree86; it only make use of the xfree86 drivers for solaris.

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to configure SSL for logins.  I have configured the apache server to use SSL, but after a couple clicks (within the imageserver), I see the following message in the apache log files:

And after that point, I can no longer access the https:... pages at all.
I've never seen this in any apache server I've configured.  Just wondering if anyone else has and might point me to something...
    Thanks in advance,

One possibility is that the java path has different versions of java installed in the same place.  So one part of java runs with version X and then that piece attempts to use a different piece but that piece is version Y.
