Upgrade option took different version of my system!

After installing 10.5 with the upgrade option, I noticed the installer upgraded the system from an older backup with a different home folder name (A), and then put my most recent library into the users folder under a different name (B). Thus, the data I want to be current on my computer is put into an archive library B, and I don't know how to get that into A so that it can be used by the system.
A while back I had problems booting while in 10.3, and I did a system restore using the install disk. Then, essentially, the 10.5 installer took the library of my system right before my boot problem (A) when it upgraded, and put B, the library of my system after the boot problem, into the users folder.
Any solutions?
Let me know if this doesn't make sense or if I need to dig up that boot problem.
Thanks much,

anyone?
Can I just replace the old library with the new one?

Will I be able to upgrade the following eduction versions to CS3 versions?

I'm purchasing a new MacBook Pro and apparently these are not supported by Leopard. What I'd like to do is install my current versions and upgrade to the latest version.
Is this covered under the $199/ea upgrade?

All Adobe upgrade are FULL installers; they are just programmed to prompt you for the old serial number if they don't find it on your drive. Previous versions are NOT necessary, but don't interfere either.
If you use Image Ready at all, you should be aware that Image Ready is gone in CS3, so you might want to keep CS2.

  • Safari Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3) yahoo mail will not support this version . Yet I cannot upgrade to a different version ? What can I do ?

I have a apple ibook and it has safari Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3) and when I go to yahoo mail it will not load says it is no longer supported. Do I really have to get a different browser  or is their an apple safari browser that I can down load. I also have an new apple book pro and it is fine but this older version is my home use computer.

If your Mac is an Intel CPU model then you can purchase a OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard upgrade disc from Apple for$20 and then update to OS X 10.6.8.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
If your Mac is an older PowerPC style Mac, then OS X 10.5.8 is as high an OS as your Mac will go.
If your Mac is a much older PowerPC Mac, you could try TenFourFox which is more up to date web browser, based on Mozilla Firefox, for older PowerPC Macs run OS X 10.4 Tiger or OS X 10.5 Leopard.

If your Mac can be upgraded to Snow Leopard, then
Backup your important data and/or your entire Mac OS system before doing a major systems upgrade.

If you want to add a second partition to the internal drive (in Disk Utility, select the drive, then open the partition tab and just click the + button), you should first be sure that you will have enough room to accommodate whatever the second volume will be. I am currently doing this for Snow and Mountain Lion.
To get to whatever volume is not the startup disk, restart and hold down option/alt at the chime, which will bring up a selection of the two volumes. Use the left or right arrow keys to select it and then hit enter/return.

  • Upgrade to 8.2 - different versions on different computers

I have an iPhone 3G, which I would like to upgrade to the newest version of the iPhone software (v3.0), via iTunes 8.2.
My problem is that I sync with iTunes on two different PCs - one at home (for music) and one at work (for contacts and calendar). I can upgrade iTunes at home, but not at work, so I'm currently stuck with iTunes version 8.0.1.11 at work.
My question is: would I still be able to sync my iPhone successfully with my work PC (running iTunes 8.0.1.11) if my iPhone is running off version 3.0?
(Even better, does anyone know how I can upgrade my work PC to the new iTunes version evading the administrator privileges issue?)
FYI - MobileMe could not be a solution as it also will not install on my work PC.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Thanks for your answer. And in that case we need to have 2 bea home ?

  • How can I handle deploying multiple test systems on the same PC that have been developed using different versions of LabVIEW, TestStand, and/or Switch Executive?

The major issue here is that the test systems must be documented and validated before being released to the production floor. Given this if a test station has multiple test systems deployed on it that have been developed on various versions of LV, TS, and Switch exec how can I force the test system selected to use the correct versions of TS, LV, and Switch exec.? I understand that the solution would be to recomplie everything and bring them up to the latest version but that would then require re-validation according to the QA department. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It would be nice if theTS deployment was more like an LV executable... meaning when a LV executable is launched it always knows what LV runtime engine to use when there are multiple engines installed on a PC.

    Hi,
Multiply versions of teststand can reside on the same system, but only one version can run at a time. They is a utility that has to be run to set the active version.
The SequenceFiles have a version number, and you will find an error will be generate if you try to Load the sequencefile in the wrong version of TestStand.
The labview VIs will only work providing the correct version of the RTE is also installed on your system, even a labview executabe requires the correct RTE to be installed, either as part of the executable installation or as a seperate installation, before the labview exe will work correctly.
I'm not fimilar with the Switch exec but I would expect that it will also require the correct lower level device drivers to be available for the version you are using.
Therefore, as you are indicating that some of your system are at  a older version, its difficult to image how you could achive this, considering if you say you have different versions of the software(s). For a start, you may have the problem that newer code/ sequencefiles using additional functionatily not available in the older versions.
I would think your only solution would  be to have different deployments covering the different versions you have, or at least bring all your test systems up to the same version of teststand.

    Retail Leopard disc looks like this;
(The disc itself has the same logo). If the one you've got is grey it simply won't work.
Given the retail and second hand prices of Leopard (usually some on Amazon MP), you'll probably find it cheaper to go directly to Snow Leopard, although there could be software updates and printer driver problems that could nullify the difference.

    Good.
    Three things come to mind:
    1.  I think you're implying when you travel away from your home to a more populated area, the cellular coverage improves and your iPhone works well.  Is that right?
    2.  Do you have a case or some other obstruction over or near your iPhone's antenna?  Have you tried moving or removing any possible obstructions near the antenna?
    3.  AT&T has a (free) app in the App Store called "Mark the Spot".  You can use this app to report voice and/or data issues to AT&T, as well as keep up on progress they may be making in improving coverage in your area.  Your trouble reports are geotagged (if you wish).

  • Distribute different versions of data to 3rd party systems from SAP ERP2004

    Dear fellow SDN users
I am working in a large retail company where we are about to implement a new store system. The new system should be implemented in phases, where each phase covers one or multiple countries. Until the implementation is complete, our old store system should still be supported.
My problem is that we also need to support multiple versions of the systems, which is something we have never done before. Do any of you guys have any experience in how to differentiate versions of the data being sent from SAP to 3rd party systems? The scenario today is:
    SAP ECC 6.0 -> SAP PI 7.0 -> STORE SYSTEM1
And the scenario we would like in the future:
    SAP ECC 6.0 -> SAP PI 7.0 -> STORE SYSTEM1/STORE SYSTEM2
(Where it is possible to send several versions of data: e.g. ARTMAS ver. 1 to SYSTEM1 and ARTMAS ver. 2 to SYSTEM1 and ARTMAS ver. 1 to SYSTEM2)
The first thing that came to my mind was to differentiate on IDOC extension and then program different routines per extension when sending the idocs, but I guess there should be an easier way.
    Any idea is greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris
I guess it depends on how the information you want to send to various partner systems differs, but have you considered using reduction?
I am at a client currently where we need to send similar information to a number of systems - for example Customer information using the DEBMAS message type, is going to three seperate systems.
To do this we defined 3 reduced messages - Tcode BD53.  This not only reduces the load placed on PI/whatever middleware system is used by eliminating unnecessary data from each message variant, but allows the message to be treated differently by PI, using different data mappings, distribution models etc.
    Hope this helps

  • Cloning use the different gcc version between source system and target sys

    Hi All,
Our system is: Application tier and Database tier is split to two servers.
We should run a cloning, but I found the different gcc version on application tier on source system and target system.
The source application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 3.2.3
The target application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 2.9.6
There is the same gcc version on database tier on source system and target system, they are gcc 2.9.6.
My question: Can I use the different gcc version between source system and target system when I run an erp cloning?
    Thanks & Regards
    Owen

Not necessarily, you might get some errors if the version is higher and it is not supported by the OS. An example is Note: 392311.1 - usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.5/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to 'dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4'
To be on the safe side, make sure you have the same version (unless you want to give it a try).

Will I lose my photos in iPhoto if upgrade to a latest version? I have upgraded my system to Mavericks and now my iPhoto doesn't work. Can anyone help, please?

    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

hi. at the moment i am still using 10.5.8 version of MAC OS X. what do i need to upgrade my IMAC to the latest OS system? thanks

    System requirements
    2 GB of RAM
8 GB of available hard disk or solid state storage
To upgrade from an old version of OS X, the computer must be running at least v10.6.8.[7]
The following models are officially supported:[7]
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)

You have to call Apple to get 10.6 first somehow, as they removed it from the online store.

  • Hi there, I have noticed that the color (how it handles brightness) of my own iMac is very different to that of other iMac's. My machine will also not let me create a calibrated version through the system preferences either, an error ocurrs.

Hi there, I have noticed that the color/ brightness of my iMac is very different to that of other iMac's. My machine will also not let me create a calibrated color version through the system preferences either, an error ocurrs. Any pointers on how this issue could be fixed? THanks.

Mac and Mac models are picky about the RAM the Mac needs to see and use.
As you have found out, the 1067 speed RAM will not work in your year and model iMac.
You need the 1333 speed RAM.
If, you can return the RAM for a refund, do it!
If not, try online Mac RAM source and seller Crucial memory. They have a table that matches your Mac to the correct and reliable RAM. You may need to contact them to see whether or not they ship to South Africa, though.
If Crucial dpesn't work out, here's the specs for your year and model iMac that you need to seek out and purchase.
    Maximum Memory
32 GB (Actual) 16 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    4 - 204-pin PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    Good Luck!

  • Bulk Firmware Upgrade Option in Systems Settings Tab

Has anyone tried to use the bulk firmware upgrade option in the Systems Settings tab?  I was able to get all the set up done and chose the 8 cameras that I needed to upgrade.  The job seemed to finish successfully.  However when I checked the firmware on the 8 cameras that needed the upgrade, THEY WERE NOT UPGRADED!!  Instead of upgrading the cameras selected via checkbox, the job chose the first 8 cameras on the original 2600 model list, completely ignoring the cameras that I had actually SELECTED FOR THE UPDATE!!!
Is anyone else having trouble with this dialog?
Cisco, can you repair this ASAP!!!
    Thanks.
    ka

    Kim,
We've experienced the same problem and it is very frustrating. We had to modify the bugfix workaround because it didn't quite work for us either. Here's what we found.
    - It doesn't matter if you sort by column name or not; the utility will randomly pick a camera from the filtered list.
    - If you write a filter that captures all of the cameras you need to update, and update all of them, it will update as expected.
    - If cameras are failing using the utility, check to see if you can install manually. You may be getting bit by the "Bad Magic Number" bug, which requires you to set your camera name back to it's default.
We found ourselves updating all the cameras for a specific location with the same model all at once. We'd schedule a brief downtime with the department and do it all at once. Of course, we tested this in a lab environment first to make sure the firmware didn't break anything.
As for "Not In Recommended Firmware", this worked for us on 4500E cameras as long as we specified what our "Recommended" firmware was under the "Manage" firmware tab.
This was all using 7.2.0. We haven't installed any firmware updates since going to 7.2.1.
