Upgrade Oracle 9.2 in 32bits(WIN2K) into Oracle 10G in 64bits(WIN2K)

Hi,
I want to upgrade Oracle 9.2 in 32bits(WIN2K) into Oracle 10G in 64bits(WIN2K) all in 4.6D.
I have installed:
the Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
a central instance with the template CENTRAL.R3S
i started to install the database instance on the target system
with the R3Setup template DBR3CP.R3S
I try to apply the note 932722, I find myself in the same procedure
point 6) c).
The following error message:
Tue Jan 26 21:52:45 2010 - Database service to be upgraded:
        Host = tirudev04
        Port = 1527
        Service = SAPServiceDEV
        ORACLE_HOME = E: \ oracle \ DEV \ 102
Error: Database connection failed to
sys / manager @ / / tirudev04: 1527/SAPServiceDEV
Can you give me some help?
Thank you.

>Service = SAPServiceDEV
This is probably the problem. you have to specify the Oracle network service name of the database you want to upgrade.
SAPServiceDEV is an Windows account name under which the SAP System is started.
Service = DEV will probably do the job.

    I am on a remote machine logged into the console as a user in the admin group with 10.2.0.4 32bit up and running. I installed 11.2.0.4 64 bit, choosing to do software only. • Steps to upgrade Oracle 10g to 11.2.0.4?

    Hi,
    Would you please tell me how to upgrade on linux to 11.2.0.4 from 10g? Do I install 11.2.0.3 first then patch? to 11.2.0.4? Or install 11.2.0.1 then ...?
    Thank you for your help.

    Starting with 11.2.0.2, patches are no longer patches, but are actually full installs - see MOS Doc 1189783.1
    So you can install 11.2.0.4 directly (you will have to download from MOS) - see MOS Doc 1562139.1
    After installing 11.2.0.4, apply the latest PSU patch for 11.2.0.4  - see MOS Doc 865255.1
    Then use DBUA as noted in the Upgrade Guide - Contents (assuming you are at least on 10.2.0.2 - Preparing to Upgrade Oracle Database)

    Once you have upgraded to Oracle Database 10g, you cannot downgrade back to Oracle Database Express Edition.Hope this help.

  • Linking to SQL Server from Oracle 10g on 64bit Linux

    I have this working, so I thought I would post my steps.
    In versions 8 to 10 of Oracle, the software for making these connections was known as Heterogeneous Services. It was 32bit only software and the actual binary file that was executed when querying a non oracle database was $ORACLE_HOME/bin/hsodbc. When a query was made to the linked database, a process was started on the machine with the name of hsodbcXXX (where XXX is the name of the DSN).
    In version 11g of Oracle this software is now referred to as Database Gateways and there is a 64bit version as well as a 32bit version. The binary file that is executed in this case is $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dg4odbc.
    Fortunately the 64bit Database Gateway software can also be used with Oracle 10g databases as long as it is up to version 10.2.03 and has the odbc compatibility patch installed. (5965763).
    To make use of this, we need to install the 11g ODBC Gateway into a separate ORACLE_HOME and start a listener from that environment. We can then make use of that listener from the 10g environment.
    So here is what I did to get this working: (Note: DSN = MyDSN)
    1.     Download and install 64bit ODBC driver with support for 64-bit ULEN from Easysoft. The file is named odbc-sqlserver-1.1.4-linux-x86-64-ul64.tar. You'll need to email Easysoft support for the URL. Create the DSN entry as part of the install. At the end of the process it can test the DSN. The query should come back with info about the SQL Server. Test the connection using isql from the /opt/easysoft/unixODBC/bin directory to verify that it works as well (/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/bin/isql –v MyDSN). Note, I installed easysoft driver under /opt rather than the /usr/local which is the default. /usr/local/easysoft is a symlink to /opt/easysoft.
    2.     Install ODBC gateway via the 11g Gateways installer. You can do a custom install and deselect all but the ODBC Gateway component. (http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle11g/linux.x64_11gR1_gateways.zip)
    3.     Create a /home/oracle/11g_environment.sh script that sets 11g ORACLE_HOME, PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variables. It should look something like this:
    #set ORACLE ENV vars for 11g
    ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1 # (assuming that is where ODBC Gateway was installed)
    PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/bin:/opt/easysoft/bin:/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/bin
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/easysoft/lib:/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/lib
    export ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    4.     Create $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/initMyDSN.ora, $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora, and $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora under 11g structure. They are as follows:
    initMyDSN.ora:
    # This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are
    # needed for an ODBC Agent.
    # HS init parameters
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=MyDSN
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=0
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME=MyDSN.trc
    HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME=/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/lib/libodbc.so
    HS_FDS_SUPPORT_STATISTICS=FALSE
    # ODBC specific environment variables
    #set ODBCINI=/etc/odbc.ini
    #set ODBCINSTINI=/etc/odbcinst.ini
    #set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/easysoft/lib:/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/lib
    #set PATH=$PATH:/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/bin:/opt/easysoft/bin/
    # Environment variables required for the non-Oracle system
    #set <envvar>=<value>
    listener.ora
    MyDSN =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1522))
    SID_LIST_MyDSN =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC=
    (SID_NAME=MyDSN)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1)
    (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/easysoft/lib:/opt/easysoft/unixODBC/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/lib)
    tnsnames.ora
    # tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File:
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    MyDSN =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1522))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=MyDSN))
    (HS=OK)
    5.     Add another entry for MyDSN in /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/admin/tnsnames.ora so tnsping works in 10g environment as well.
    MyDSN =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=localhost)(PORT=1522))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=MyDSN))
    (HS=OK)
    *** Notice that the MyDSN listener runs on a different port (1522) as it is a separate listener.
    6.     Login to machine as user oracle and source the 11g environment script. “source ~/11g_environment.sh”. Now start the listener. “cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin”. “./lsnrctl start MyDSN”.
    7.     Login to a new shell as user oracle with a 10g environment.
    8.     Run sqlplus and create the database link. “CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK SQLSERVER connect to “<someuser>” IDENTIFIED BY “<somepass>” USING ‘MyDSN’;”
    9.     test the link. “select * from information_schema.tables@SQLSERVER;”
    If it is successfull, you should see a system process named "dg4odbcMyDSN".

    So what have you found out for yourself so far (considering the solution to this is easily found on the web)?
    Have you looked up Heterogeneous Services?

  • ODBC driver with Oracle 10G on 64bit Windows OS.

    peoplesoft CRM tools 8.48,Oracle 10G client in on Windows 2003(64bit) installed.
    When i open ODBC administrator from CRM its open showing all the drivers registred to 64bit registry. Whereas when i see ODBC admin from Control panel of OS , its showing driver register from 32bit. My observation is that oracle ODBC driver is getting registerd with 32bit and application is calling DDBCadmin of 64 bit. Hence driver is not getting registered with 64bit registry.

  • Upgrade Oracle 10g database 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.2

    I have downloaded the trial version of 10g application server and 10g oracle database from Oracle site. But when I tried installed the 10g application server which needs to connect to the 10g database, I got the following error.
    Database version should be 9.2.0.7 or higher in the oracle9i database release 2 series, 10.1.0.5 or higher in the oracle database 10g release 1 series, oracle database XE (10.2.0.1), 10.2.0.2 or higher in the oracle database 10g release 2 series.
    How do I upgrade to 10.2.0.2 from 10.2.0.1?
    Thanks.

    Download patch set from metalink and extract patch into some directory.
    Then from that directory run "Opatch install". ( You need to shutdown all database and other service while upgrading code tree)

    Hi All,
    We are currently Upgrading from 12.0.6 to 12.1.1 on AIX 5.3 While performing the Pre-Upgrade Task of Upgrading 10.1.3.0 to 10.1.3.4.0 per document 454811.1. runInstaller fails with"*OPMN is failing to start. OPMN must be started in order to correctly install and configure the patchset. Please start OPMN manually in order to continue with the patchset install*."
    We have also modified the OPMNCTL Script located in <1013_Oracle_home>/opmn/bin as mentioned in the Read ME of the Patch 8461753
    for AIX Customers. Still The Error Persists.
    Any CLues to resolve this? I have also a TAR with Oracle to resolve this.
    Also I need to understand that do we have to follow the sequence of Pre-Upgrade Tasks as given in 752619.1 Since i am not able to move
    forward with 10.1.3 Home Upgrade ..IS it oK if i go ahead with 10.1.2 and Java 6.0 Upgrade first and then complete 10.1.3 home upgrade?

  • Need help regarding upgrading Oracle 10g Forms to Oracle 11g Fusion Middlew

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a workshop on a VM for showing the migration / upgrading of Oracle Forms 10g to Oracle 11g FMW using the Upgrade Assistant tool available in <ORACLE_HOME>/bin/ua.bat.
    As per my understanding of pre-requisites:
    1)     I need to install Oracle SOA Suite 10g on my VM.
    2)     I also need to install Oracle SOA Suite 11g on my VM.
    3)     I need to install Oracle Forms/Reports Services 10g on my Oracle SOA Suite 10g installation.
    4)     I need to run Oracle Forms/reports installer on my Oracle SOA Suite 11g installation.
    5)     I need to run upgrade assistant tool on my VM to upgrade my form from source(Oracle SOA Suite 10g) to destination(Oracle SOA Suite 11g). Is it mandatory for this migration that I should have Oracle SOA Suite 10g and Oracle SOA Suite 11g on the same system ?
    Having all these software installed on one VM would be difficult. So just wanted to check can I avoid any software to install on VM ?
    If there is any alternative suggestion then please let me know.
    Regards,

    What do you want to do with the SOA-suite? At least for Froms10G is is not necessary.
