You will need to install 11.2.0.4 into a new ORACLE_HOME, apply the latest 11.2.0.4 PSU patch to the new ORACLE_HOME (see MOS Doc 1454618.1) and then follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide

  • Upgrading Oracle Database from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 on Windows XP

    Hi,
My moto is to install Oracle DB 10.2.0.4 but i didn't find that vesion of DB. so i installed 10.2.0.3 and now wanted to upgrade it to 10.2.0.4. Please redirect me to proper documentation or patch that will help me.
Is there 10.2.0.4 setup directly insted of upgrading from previous version??

    Hi,
Case 1) On top of Oracle Database 10.2.0.3 directly install and apply the patch for Oracle database 10.2.0.4 provided with Database ORACLE_HOME and SYS password parameters at the patch installation time.
Case 2) If you installed only Database software from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4, using dbua utility you can upgrade the database version.

The OS is Solaris 10 (SunOS 5.10) and the source DB version was 10.2.0.4. We are running the upgrade manually (NOT with DBUA). The upgrade log does not have any ORA-xxxx errors, but it does show a few instances of the same error, such as this example:
    SQL> desc XDB.XDB$RESOURCE_T;

  • Upgrading a database from 8.1.6 to 9.2.0

    Hi,
Oracle provides scripts to directly upgrade a database from an older release to the latest release. In the 9.2.0 installation, scripts are available to upgrade from 8.0.6, 8.1.7 and 9.0.1. No scripts is present for upgrading my 8.1.6 database to 9.2.0.
Can somebody suggest a way to achieve this upgrade?
    Thanks
    Yash

Unfortunately, you will have to upgrade to 8.1.7 or 9.0.1 before upgrading to 9.2.0. Oracle appears to be supplying upgrade scripts for terminal releases.

  • How to Upgrade 11i Database from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3

I have gone through the 10.2.0.3 pre instalaltion tasks....Do we again need to run the DBUA from 10g Oracle Home....

You can use one of the following for upgrading an Oracle Database 10g release 10.2.0.x to Oracle Database 10g release 10.2.0.3:
    - Upgrading a Release 10.2 Database using Oracle Database Upgrade Assistant (Run dbua)
    - Manually Upgrading a Release 10.2 Database (Run catupgrd.sql)
For more details, please check "Upgrading Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.x to Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3" section of the readme file of 10.2.0.3 patch (Patch 5337014).

Steps to upgrade oracle database from11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 3

    Hi,
    Upgrade steps
    1. Install 11.2.0.3.0 rdbms software
11.2.0.3 patch set is a full release.
Beginning with the release 11.2.0.3 patch set, you have two ways to apply a patch set
i)Out-of-place upgrade (Recommended) -- 11.2.0.3 will be installed as standalone at another location. So there is no impact on source oracle home and also DB upgrade will take less time
See Note 1276368.1 : Complete checklist for out-of-place manual upgrade from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2 , it is applicable for 11.2.0.3 as well
ii)in-place upgrade - 11.2.0.3 will be installed on top of 11.2 installation, So source oracle home will be replaced, Downtime will be high comparing out of place upgrade
for more info, Please refer to

  • Moving an Oracle Database from Solaris to AIX

    Hi all,
I have been asked to move an SAP system using an Oracle database from
Solaris to AIX (on an IBM P590).
Most of the move is straightforward, except the Oracle database
transfer. It would make my life so much easier if I could simply
restore the Oracle datafiles from an off-line backup of the Solaris
system and then link it to a clean install of the Oracle binaries on
the AIX system, rather than have to do an export and import.
Is this possible, after all the AIX Oracle binaries would be the same
patch level as the Solaris binaries and the file systems would be the
same. Also as it would be an offline backup we would not have to do
any recovery, so the archive logs and the original redo logs would not
    be required.
Does anyone know if this is possible or has actually executed it
successfully, any hints and tips on the gotchas would be greatly
    appreciated.
    TIA
    Chris aka BoobBoo

    Hello Chris,
unfortunately you didn't write anything about your oracle version or your backup mechanism like RMAN,etc..
I think you will use Solaris on a SPARC architecture and not on x86? (same endian)
If you have RMAN and 10gR2 then you can use the "Database Transport Across Same Endian Platforms":
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/wnbradv.htm
    > RMAN now supports the CONVERT DATABASE command, which can prepare a whole database for transport to a new platform that uses the same endian format. Database transport across platforms provides a faster and easier way to move databases from one platform to another than previous solutions requiring the use of Data Pump.
Metalinknote #413586.1 has a FAQ and a step on step guide.
If you have created your tablespaces under Oracle 10g (no oracle upgrade from previous releases!!) you can use the "Transportable tablespace feature" and copy the database files. SAP has published note #1035051 for that.
