Upgrade Oracle Patches
Hi Markus and ALL,
My Production Server consists on DB(Central instance) and APP(Dialog instance) servers on different machine. I have patched 10.2.0.2 on DB Server. i faced error (OCL.DLL file is using another person) during patching and tell me it is compulsory to patched on APP servers if yes then what are the Prerequisites for patching on Application Server.
regards,
majamil
The Patch comes with a README file, read it and follow it. It´s not enough to "just install" the patch, you need to run some SQL scripts after the patch was installed.

Hi,
We are continously getting dumps on our BW Central instance server after we did an Oracle patch upgrade from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8.
Following is our system environment

What happened?
The current ABAP program had to be terminated because the
ABAP processor detected an internal system error.
The current ABAP program "SAPMSSY2" had to be terminated because the ABAP
processor discovered an invalid system state.
What can you do?
Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.
Error analysis
An SAP System process was terminated by an operating system signal.
Possible reasons for this are:
1. Internal SAP System error.
2. Process was terminated externally (by the system administrator).

How to correct the error
The SAP System work directory (e.g. /usr/sap/c11/D00/work ) often
contains a file called 'core'.
Save this file under another name.
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
Save->Local File (unconverted)".
2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
"System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.
Kindly help.

Sachin
Edited by: Sachin N on Apr 14, 2008 12:26 PMNo. If the environment would be wrong the system wouldn´t start up.
Core dumps are in 99 % of the cases program errors (in the SAP kernel or in an interface (libdbora*)), misaligend accesses of data etc.
If you encounter such an error have a look in the C-Stack. If you can´t see where the error is happening opening an OSS call. Most of those errors are fixed by installing the latest patches for the kernel and the database interface.

Hi all,
Our SAP version is 4.7E and Oracle 9.2.0.7.I have recieved one message that Oracle only give support for 9.2.0.7 up to july 31 2007.They have suggested apply the latest patches. But oracle is giving free support for version 9.2.0.7 up to july 31 2008.
1.If we will not apply oracle patches how will it effect the system?
2. We will need to apply those latest patch only before july 31 2007?
Please help on this.

The extended support is for version 9.2 (not only 9.2.0.7) for free until 31st of july 2008. The reason why you should go to 9.2.0.8 is because of the fact, that new patches are only developed/released for 9.2.0.8 and no more for 9.2.0.7. So in case you need an urgent correction for a problem in the future you would need to upgrade to 9.2.0.8 first before you can apply that patch.
Check Note 1021844 - Oracle 9.2 Extended Support free until July 31, 2008

Tuxedo 8.0 and Oracle patch 9.2.0.8
Hi,
We have installed Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 into UNIX machine. We are using Tuxedo for middleware that using an API Application through Tuxedo to provision onto Oracle database.
Since Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 installed, Tuxedo produced core file.
It has been mentioned by Oracle Metalink Doc ID 455832.1 that potentially because both server and client have to be in synch version. The Oracle patch has been installed on UNIX server for both
My question is that:
- Is there any Oracle client on Tuxedo (8.0) patch that need to be installed ?
- Or should we upgrade Tuxedo to later version, if yes which version that in synch with Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 ?
At the moment no workarround is applied.
Thank in advance for any info and help.
--AgeHi Todd,
Thank you for your usefull answer. I will take this point with our application's vendor.
Do you know if we would like to upgrade to a higher version or best to the latest 10gR3, is there any contact Support that we can contact to get software kit (weblink for download etc.). I am not sure the license contract agreement of our company, in parallel I would like to know the procedure from your side (Oracle Tuxedo).

Upgrading oracle applications doubt
Hi,
I am upgrading oracle applications from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.1 in linux OEL 5.
I have successfully upgraded the db from 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.5. And also new R12.1.1 file system is laid.
Now following upgrade guide, updated pfile as per R12 requirement and started the db with 10.2.0.5. [ Page 3-3 in R121 upgrade guide].
The next step is to apply the patch AD 7461070 [point 9 in page 3-5 page of r121 upgrade guide].
This patch needs to be applied on R12 application owner. But in my database release_name is 11.5.10.2.
How can i apply this patch??
Thanks
TaherHi Taher,
1). First Created the R12 code tree. [Installed 11g db. Is this 11g DB HOME is of any use].This is the default ORACLE_HOME which comes with the installer -- You do not need to use it.
Database Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Upgrade [ID 761570.1]
2). Upgraded the DB from to 10.2.0.5. So does it mean i can use this 10.2.0.5 with both 11i and R12 just created in step 1.Not at the same time, as you will end up having R12 accessing the database (see the doc referenced above).
3). While applying the AD PATCH 7461070 i should copy adgrants to 10g ORALCE HOME. [not to 11g].
applclone -> 11i appl. owner
applr12 -> r12 appl. ownerYes, as you are still on 10g.
I am posting the log file here. I knew that i can not apply R12 patch in 11.5.10.2 environment. What i did was i applied the patch R12_8576725 environment.
As you have asked the log file.
AutoPatch error:

Freeing includes hash table

I do not think this is relevant to which env file you are sourcing, as the RELEASE_NAME column value is still 11.5.10.2 and it should be 12.x.x (as you mentioned above). So, please mention the steps you have followed to upgrade this instance.

Upgrade Oracle 10g 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4
Hi,
Is there anybody there, who upgrades Oracle 10g 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4.
May I know where did you download and how you did it as I check the SAP Note 1137346, there is before and after upgrade but nothing about the upgrade process and I can't file the upgrade file as well.
Thanks for the help

Is there anybody there, who upgrades Oracle 10g 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4.
Yes, me, for example
May I know where did you download and how you did it.
SAP Service Marketplace
http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
-> Oracle 10.2.0.4 -> Database RDBMS -> Your OS
Note that still is not available for Itanium (MS Windows Itanium (64-bit))
The instructions to install any patch set can be found on the patch ser (README file)
you can also take a look at the note 839187 Oracle Database 10g: Patch set installation -
I have applied patch to upgrade Oracle E-business suite(11.5.10) database from 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8. but after applying patch also it showing 9.2.0.5. please help me.
Thanks Hussain for ur reply
server OS is windows server 2003 std. i have performed following steps
1. First I installed 11.5.10.2 Technology Stack Validation Patch (Revision 1 July, 2005) on both application (D:\Oracle\visappl) and database (D:\oracle\Visdb\9.2.0) home. (p4318672_11i_GENERIC.zip)
2. Then I review the html log file generated for both the home. Html file generated for oracle home with ALL PASS status. But html file for DBMS oracle home has return FAIL status. I review the reason in txkVal11510MP_DB.html. it gives me following reason to fail
“11.5.10.2 requires that your Oracle 9iR2 database version to be 9.2.0.6.0 or higher on Windows platform. Please refer to Oracle MetaLink Note 216550.1 "Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0)" to upgrade to the latest certified version of Oracle 9iR2. After upgrading to 9.2.0.6, you must apply 9.2.0.6 patch 5 ( 4287598 ) before upgrading to 11.5.10.2. “
3. I went through the Metalink Note 216550.1. I refer Section 2 of it. I applied patch 5035661. when I applied this patch , output of this patch mentioned that OUI 2.2 is already installed on both the Home.
4. Then I applied 9.2.0.6 patch 5 (4287598). Prior to this I applied patch 2617419 because patch 4287598 require OPatch 1.0.0.0.52.
5. I performed patch 4287598 post installation task also. I didn’t apply windows patch 6, because my database was not showing 9.2.0.8 as required by windows patch 6.
6. so this is the complete task list I have done to upgrade database from 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8
output of given query is as below:
Oracle9i Catalog Views 9.2.0.5.0 VALID
Oracle9i Packages and Types 9.2.0.5.0 VALID
Oracle9i Real Application Clusters 9.2.0.5.0 INVALID
JServer JAVA Virtual Machine 9.2.0.5.0 VALID
Oracle XDK for Java 9.2.0.7.0 VALID
