Upgrade Oracle VM Server

Hi everyone,
I want to upgrade my OVM Server 3.2.1 to the version 3.2.2, how can i do it with the cli of my server or with OVM Manager ?

Hi,
To upgrade your Oracle VM Server, you must upgrade the Oracle VM Manager first to the dedicated version and then upgrade Oracle VM Server also using Oracle VM Manager using the yum repository or by using the CD.
In this case: upgrade your Oracle VM Manager from the version 3.2.1 to the latest version and then upgrade Oracle VM Server from the version to the latest version.
Note: Oracle VM Manager and Server should have the same version.

Have the following question.
First time upgrading Oracle Apps Server. So not that familiar in this area.
1. Step 6.1.2 in Oracle Application Server Patch Set Notes it says 
If you are applying 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) Patch Set 5 (10.1.3.5.0) to a 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) Oracle home and your system uses Enterprise Javabeans 3.0 applications, then you must undeploy your applications before applying the patch

Do we have to undeploye EJB3.0

It seems like you are upgrading E-Business Suite . If thats the case its better post the problem in Ebiz forum. Also post the document id you are following, your app and db release, OS release. We do not deploy J2EE applications on Ebiz Tech Stack app server. So un-deployment should not be applicable here.

Upgrade Oracle http server for last servlet function

Hi
Currently i use Oracle http server with servlet.
It seems that my version with jsdk.jar file don't support EncodeUrl function and web.xml file.
How can i upgrade my server ?
I have tried to replace jsdk.jar file with servlet22.jar file but without results !
Where can i found more information ?

Hi all
That´s right, the OHS was installed with the Fusion Middleware Web Utilities installation and working fine !
The Apex application is online without problems.
Now, my challenge is to implement the security certificate (SSL) on OHS.
I´ve been read many things but I´m a little confused and looking for a specific documentation to do that.
The certificate was generated and got the especific files ( .cer / .crt / .key ) but the problem is how to configure.
Is it necessary to install another software ?
Is wallet manager must be used or just configure some files like ssl.conf ?

Hi Sachin,
If you are indeed running Oracle (Web) Application Server 4.0.8.2 or similar, the best way to upgrade will depend on what applications that you are running.
There are upgrade guides from Oracle (Web) Application Server to Oracle Internet Application Server 1.0 as well as guides from 8i to 9i and 10g avaliable under documentation here at OTN.
The latest version avaliable right now is 10.1.2.0.2. It might make sense to go to 10.1.2.0.2 than to 9.0.4 at this time.

Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) to 10.1.3.5.0

I'm trying upgrade Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) to 10.1.3.5.0. Let me give a background first:
I tried to install Oracle AS 10.1.3 but it ran into error because windows firewall was blocking javaw.exe opmn.exe. I had cancelled the installation. So ORACLE_AS1 failed initiatlly. After i identified the issue i installed ORACLE_AS2. This went through successfully without issues. I'm able to login to BPEL Console. But only after executing opmnctl startall in DOS Prompt. I have installed Windows 7.
Now when I try to upgrade to 10.1.3.5.0 the installer automatically selects destination location ORACLEAS1. I change it ORACLEAS2 where (10.1.3) is installed. After clicking on a next i get and issue as shown in the below link:

I want to upgrade my OS from official repository on Primary and Standby Servers. And I have a question:
Will I have a problem with my RDBMS after upgrade OS (e.g. statuses in dba_registry will become INVALID)?

Hi,
I am a little confused because I have Windows Server 2008 64 bit operating system and had installed Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) prior to the Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 install package becoming available.
My database needs no backup of data as it is a fresh installation so its removal is not a problem.
To now upgrade to Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 do I need to
a) Uninstall Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) and then install Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 on Windows Server 2008
or
b) Apply patch 6890831 (will this upgrade from 11.1.0.6.0 x64 to 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008?)
Any help much appreciated as having looked at documentation I am still confused what I need to do.

[Upgrading to 2.1.0.63.73] JDK 1.6 and Oracle 10 server XP 32 issue

Hi,
I wonder if I will still be able to use Oracle 10 server if I install JDK 1.6 (mandatory to upgrade SqlDeveloper) ?
Here is the output of java -version in the Oracle server directory
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\jdk\bin>java -version
java version "1.4.2_08"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_08-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_08-b03, mixed mode)
And in the Sqldeveloper directory
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin>java -version
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode)
Is it sure to trust the install to place java 1.6 in the sqldeveloper\jdk\bin directory?

If you're worried about messing up other software, why not download the SQL Developer bundled with the JDK? It resides inside the SQLDeveloper folder and to my knowledge it won't interfere with any of your other JDK installs.
You'll want to put newer installs of SQL Developer in their own folder, and not in the existing SQL Developer Folder.

Upgrade from 11.2.0.1.2 to 11.2.0.3.0 without changing Oracle DB Server

I want to upgrade to the latest version of ODAC, but I am concerned for two reasons:
1. I am not sure if it will require that the Oracle database server be updated
2. I am not sure if it will negatively affect other applications on the same windows box running the older version of the DLLs
Can anyone alleviate my concerns about this? It really sucks not being able to use Entity Framework because the old DLL didn't implement IServiceProvider.

2) ODP.NET is designed to allow multiple versions on the same machine. Each version needs to be in its own Oracle home. We do install policy DLLs so you should remove them from the GAC if you do not wish older apps to pick up the new ODP.NET. There is some discussion of this in the ODP.NET online help with some additional information about using .net config files to achieve the same thing.

Upgrade Oracle patch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 but 3 Instance on 1 server .

AIX , Oracle , ECC6.0 and SAP Netweaver 7.0 .
we have 3 instances are Installed on same server .
SAP DEV , SAP QA , BIW-DEV .
Seperate Oracle home and SID .
I required to apply Oracle patch to all 3 Instance .
I have already Upgraded Oracle patch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 in my Sand Box server (Windows) .
Kindl y suggest how to upgrade Oracle patch to all the Instance .
or i have to upgrade oracle patch to one by one instance .
Is there any precaution ...

Upgrading My Oracle App Server from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3 without uninstalling ?

Is their any way we can just upgrade the app server from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3 with uninstalling the older 10.1.2 and reinstalling 10.1.3 ?

No and yes. Please note that 10.1.2 is a full release and 10.1.3 is a Java only release, i.e. no Portal, Forms, Reports, Discoverer, Web Cache etc.

Upgradation to Oracle App Server 10.1.2.3

Our application was developed using JDev Build 1929. It was working fine.
We upgraded to JDev 10.1.2.3.0 Build 1936. The application was still working fine.
But recently we upgraded our application server patches from OAS 10.1.2.2 to OAS 10.1.2.3 patches.
After this upgrade, our application performance was worst. We increased our memory allocation to 3 GB. Even after that the performance was not good.
When we read the bug list for the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3, we found the following bug fix:
5473620 JDBC connection pool with limit on
maximum number of connections possible, if the AMs are not released
Does this mean that the JDBC Connection pool will not prvide any DB connection to the Application Module Pool if many application modules are not relased?
Can any one please explain the full description of the bug? Does that this bug fix affect the behaviour of the connection pool or the application module pool?
We are facing a major problem in our production. Pls help.

Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.2 upgrade JDBC driver how ?

What I did was I replace the following classes12.zip (thid JDBC driver is from Jdeveloper library folder) file into OAS home directory under jdbc/lib and change the following env variables in OAS.
Lastly, tested out 2 simple servlet program
1) No Connection pooling (simple query)
2) With Connection Pooling (only JDBC 2 has this features)
both the servlet fail to display and throw me an error "An Application has occured error ..."
with the old classes111.zip it works fine not after I replaced the new JDBC 2 driver.
