Upgrade order for Mavericks Servers

I have 7 Mac Mini Servers I am wanting to upgrade to OSX 10.9.
I have three servers running ldap services. (2 seperate and one replicating)
I have a single mail server.
A server just operating as a share
2 servers hosting a database program we are using
All of these servers are running anything from 10.6.8 to 10.8.3 currently
I have verified that they can run 10.9 with thier current hardware.
I am going to be upgrading the clients to Mavericks as well.
I was told there is a particular order that would be best to upgrade the servers to prevent any unwanted problems trying to connect to each other.
Also would it be better to upgrade the clients to 10.9 first or the servers?
Thanks in advance,
Jon

  • Linksys M10 and Mountain Lion OS problems with Guest User - which router is best to upgrade to for Maverick and higher OS coming in fall?

Since we upgraded our OS to Mountain Lion the Guest User on the Linksys M10 router isn't working.  Not compatible.  Which Linksys should one upgrade to for use with Maverick OS and the newer releases coming this fall and onward?

Sorry - I have Maverick 10.9.4 and the guest user on the link sys M10 isn't compatible.  Any suggestions on which wifi router to upgrade to for newer releases of OS coming?

  • Central Admin shows "Upgrade Available" for both servers. Have tried many fixes.

We have a client with two SharePoint 2013 servers. Servers in Farm (Central Admin, System Settings) shows config DB version is 15.0.4551.1001 and both WFE and APP server show status "Upgrade Available"
I'm familiar with this and it typically means that the configuration wizard needs to be run. However I'm having a hard time resolving the message in this instance.
    Steps taken so far:
    IISRESET on both servers
Attempted to run configuration wizard on both servers (several times). Appears to complete successfully but CA still shows upgrade available.
Ran "PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force" on both servers.
-Both return error "Exception: Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPUpdatedConcurrencyException: An update conflict has occurred, and you must re-try this action."
-PSCDiagnostics log file does not seem to shed any light on the issue
cleared SharePoint configuration cache on both servers
    IISRESET
Ran PSConfig command again; no change
    Other information:
stsadm -o localupgradestatus shows no updates needed for either server
In Powershell, if I use get-spserver and check the properties of each server, I find the following:
NeedsUpgrade: True for WFE, False for APP
CanUpgrade: False for WFE, True for APP
I haven't found much info on that CanUpgrade property.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Tommy

  • If i purchase os x server for mountain lion would i have to purchase it for mavericks again?

Want to study it now on my mbp and then use it with mavericks on mac mini in several weeks.

We don't know what Apple plans here for pricing nor for upgrade offers for Mavericks, if any.
AFAIK, no previous OS X Server upgrades have had upgrades; it's been a re-purchase.
Please check back after Mavericks is announced.
FWIW, OS X Server doesn't work all that well on a MacBook Pro or other portable computers, as OS X Server and most other server operating systems really prefer to have static IP and not DHCP-assigned dynamic addresses, and laptops tend to migrate from network to network and use DHCP.  Haven't looked recently, but older versions of OS X Server expressly didn't support portable Macs, and for this reason.

  • Upgrade rules for Cool Edit, Cool Edit pro, Audition

Does anybody know the upgrade order for the following applications?
    Cool Edit 96
    Cool Edit 2000
    Cool Edit Pro 1
    Cool Edit Pro 2
    Audition 1
If one had Cool Edit 2000 what was the next step up? Was it Cool Edit Pro or was it Audition?
Was it posible to go from Cool Edit 96 to Cool Edit Pro 1 ? Or was is rquired to go by Cool Edit 2000 first?
Could one go from Cool Edit 96 to Audition?
Any such information is highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Did you go from Cool edit pro 2 to Adobe Audition 1?
My mistake - Cool Edit 1 is actually Cool Edit Pro 1. It got renamed because it was the paid-for upgrade from Cool Edit 96.
So ignoring CE2000, the major software lineage to date is effectively:
    Cool Edit 96
    Cool Edit Pro 1
    Cool Edit Pro 1.2
Cool Edit Pro 2, which became Audition 1, minus the CD burning which was beta. Adobe wouldn't countenance that!
    Audition 1.5
    Audition 2.0
    Audition 3.0
    Audition 3.0.1
    Audition 4.0 aka Audition CS5.5
Cool Edit Pro didn't natively do MP3 - you had to purchase that as a plugin. CE2000 had it natively, though. There might be a minor additional step around CEP1.2 and 2, but I don't recall offhand whether there was or not, and it would only have been a bugfix.

  • Is it possible to upgrade a computer that qualifies for Mavericks to Mountain Lion via a content code purchase from the Mac App Store?

I inherited a situation where a previous consultant purchased a Mountain Lion installer code from the Apple Store but Mountain Lion was never installed. I obtained a new installer code from Apple based on the valid purchase of the Mountain Lion software last month.
The Mountain Lion installer appears under Purchases in the Mac App Store, but nothing happens when I try to download it. When I try to redeem the purchase by inserting the content code I get a message indicating that the content code has already been redeemed.
I don't mind spending $20 to purchase a fresh content/installer code, but I would like some assurance that the Mountain Lion software can be installed on a computer that qualifies for Mavericks. Not wanting to upgrade to Mavericks is not my idea but is that of my client.
Or to put it another way, does Apple prohibit such an install unless the computer in question does not qualify for a Mavericks upgrade?

It is your decision which OS you want to upgrade to - Apple does not place such restrictions (unless the machine specs do not meet the OS's specs or vice versa). So, if yours does meet Mavericks specs, it can run any OS newer than what it came with.
So, which OS does the machine have now?
I inherited a situation where a previous consultant purchased a Mountain Lion installer code from the Apple Store but Mountain Lion was never installed. I obtained a new installer code from Apple based on the valid purchase of the Mountain Lion software last month.
Was this purchase done on this same Mac? If so and someone else purchased the OS, then the likely answer is: any OS or app obtained at the app store is not transferable - its' license is tied to the original purchaser's Apple ID forever. So, it may have been a valid purchase, but it is tied to the purchaser, not you.
In order to get past that, you will need to wipe the drive booting from either the original install disk (which OS did the Mac come with?) or using recovery if it was Lion. After wiping the drive, reinstall the original system, and then you can purchase and download any OS version you'd like using your own Apple ID.
Let me know if I misunderstood the situation.

  • Upgrade policy for new OS X Mavericks

I am looking to buy Mac mini right now, let's say if I bought in next few days (by Mid September) it will comes with Mountain Lion.
And new OS Mavericks launch by end of October or November.
Am I eligible for free upgrade? is it 30 days before launch date or it is after announcement?  I am not sure.
Shall I hold my order until its official. Is it worth to wait?

    HI,
Once Apple decide on a release date for Mavericks then they will also announce which, if any, currently On Sale Macs will be entitled to any Upgrade.
Seeing OS X 10.8.5 only came out on the 12th I doubt that it is going to be that soon.

Webcam not working for Macbook Air 2013 after upgrading to OSX Mavericks? Yahoo/ Google/Skype cam chats not working. Facetime works though. Any updates of Mavericks released to fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)
    Fix:
With the new Maverick you have to use there messager program Version 8.0 (4218). Once I add my yahoo account video works again.
It also supported AOL, AIM, Google Talk, Jabber.

sure pretty simple.  make a backup of your current settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
    then import pics to computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

Compare with on-line stores. The full version is often cheaper than Adobe's upgrade price.

  • Bought iMac in October 2013, will the upgrade for Mavericks be free for me?

We just bought the new iMac from www.apple.com. When Mavericks is possibly released later this month, will that OS update be free for recent iMac purchases? I realise this may have the Osborne Effect, so please feel free to ignore. Learned about this effect from CBC just this morning, so I'm trying to use it.
    Thank you!

Apple has not announced information on the release date for Mavericks or information regarding free upgrades and the time of purchase requirements for computers.  All we, as fellow users, can say is wait until Apple releases that information.
If past behavior is any indicator, purchases within 30-days have been given the codes for free updates, and at any rate, the updates have only cost $20 (US), not a significant amount.

I recommend to check www.icloud.com, are your contacts shown there?
If not -> Something might be not set up correctly on you iOS devices.
Also.. Simple but maybe occuring: Contacts -> Preferences -> Accounts -> iCloud is enabled? (Should be by default if you have iCloud setup via the system preferences, but you never know..)

That's correct kayraypole! For our upgrade eligible customers, we have a deal that you can trade in any iPhone for a $200 Verizon Wireless gift card. Here's a link so you can check it out, www.trade-in.vzw.com.
